College really is a stepping stone toward the rest of your life. A lot of the experiences you will have in college will stick with you as memories for the rest of your life, especially if you were in Greek life. As we all know, Greek life carries huge misconceptions from those looking from the outside in. Stuff like “Your paying for your friends” or “You only do Greek life if you want to drink and party” which clearly isnt true at all. Greek life helps you make the most of your college experience, but you definitely need to put in the work as well. Here are a few tips on how to make the most out of your time in Greek life.

There isnt a better feeling than being presented your first pair of letters from your big when you get in. Whether it be a hoodie, t-shirt, crewneck, jacket or whatever, your first pair of letters are probably going to be your favorite. Take advantage of all the times you can wear them, and be prideful that you are in your organization

Network with alumni

Alumni weekend is a very common event at most universities. Whether there is an alumni weekend at your school or not, theres a good chance your organization hold events throughout the year to network with alumni from your chapter. Take advantage of these events. A lot of these alumni have very successful careers and if they are in a field that you may want to get into after college, they know you and can help you get jobs. Another cool aspect with alumni events usually are passdowns from when they were in college. Its cool stuff like old jerseys, blankets, pins, bags, hats, glasses, mugs, paddles, and so much more. More importantly though, these connections can one day help you land that big time career opportunity.

Take on leadership opportunities

Taking on leadership positions in your chapter can be so beneficial towards your future. Especially executive board positions such as president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, and more. You learn how to lead a group of people trying to set a good image of the chapter towards the school, and the community. Future employers will see your experience taking leadership initiatives and be very pleased to give you an interview. Another really cool perk of taking a leadership position is that you will be a key face for your chapter during rush week, greek week, and philanthropies.
