So we’re wrapping up Black History Month and nine of the largest historically black fraternities and sororities are represented right here in Milwaukee through the collaborative National pan-hellenic Council the council’s been busy with several recent philanthropic events and breadth inna Andrea and Daryl all join us now to talk a little bit
About that so birthing and you’re the president we’ll start with you tell us a little bit about your work and why it’s so important to our community well it’s very important for us to do this kind of community service because we want to make sure that we’re very well
Representative it represented in our aspects of the community and what we’re trying to get accomplished for example we want to make sure that we provide voter education to our constituents and get them out to the polls locally as well as national elections are very important so we do heavily endorse that
So let’s talk a little bit about and you guys can chime in and we get y’all miked up okay talk a little bit about the significance of african-american fraternities and sororities and kind of preserving and promoting the culture of all working together I think that it’s important it’s it’s our history and so
When you think about some of the strides that were made by different people in fraternities and sororities you have some very iconic people who come out of the different fraternities and sororities and so I think it’s important that we keep that history and that we continue to grow on that history and we
Continue to make history as organizations and that we support each other as organizations so some of the events that you guys have already told us about you know the voter education also highway restoration efforts we saw you sponsored a Thanksgiving dinner Darrell any events you guys have coming up that
You think the community should be aware of we have we’re partnering with local organizations and we’re gonna promote what is it no the way I think it’s about 20 or 30 homes gonna go in check the fire alarms and put new smoke alarms in the houses has it been valuable
Collaborating with other fraternities and sororities within the council and kind of forming those friendships and those bonds absolutely there you go on the same wave one of the things that you know when we collaborate amongst each other we can reach more people so although we do things individually
Within our own organizations when we collaborate like I said when we collaborate together we reach more individuals we can show a greater presence and have more of an impact all right Bettina sorry and I just want to add that we get to meet people I wouldn’t I probably wouldn’t know
Bertina because we’re not in the same organization but through National pan-hellenic Council we’ve developed not just a relationship based on the organization but an actual friendship so it there is there’s so much that’s that you can receive from just being apart and just collaborating with each other that it’s just it’s an amazing
Experience thank you guys so much for coming in this afternoon keep up the great work all right thank you
