DO’S AND DON’TS FOR SHOWING INTEREST IN A D9 ORGANIZATION | Kensie Kens

Good morning good evening good night it’s kenzie kissing a cut and i’m back with another video hey y’all this video was requested along with last week’s video go ahead and check it out why i joined my sorority singaporean sorority incorporated but this video today is going to be the do’s

And don’ts of showing interest in a d9 sorority now me personally i can only speak to a d9 sorority i am not sure how it goes for the other sororities like the multicultural depend hellenic um i don’t know but for d9 i got y’all covered all right let’s hop

Into it let’s first get into the news number one do go to events try to make your presence known when you go to these events like state your name interact um it’s best to do these things because it can get very awkward for not only us

But for y’all as well when you’re at an event and you’re kind of just sitting there like i like we get it you’re shy and it’s okay to be shy but please at least come and speak to us we want to know who you are number two please engage in community service acts

All of these organizations have sisterhood scholarship and service in common and that doesn’t mean oh when the sorority has an event that service you go to it no you need to engage in service outside of that sorority as well because we do look at those things so

Get you some get you some community service hours under your belt number three you’re going to hear this in any d9 video please do your research look up that sorority see if they have some national programs how do they fulfill those programs do they fulfill those programs

At all because you don’t want to join an organization and you see that oh online it says this this and that and then when you join this organization or you go to the events and you’re looking at the events online you see that it doesn’t relate to anything that the organization really

Stands for number four you do this as soon as you kind of figure out exactly which organization you want to join you want to be sure when you take this step but i say go and look up the chapter that you’re interested in and since they

Have an interest form you can fill out send in that interest form so they can know directly hey i’m interested and no you didn’t go to their face no you didn’t email anyone no you weren’t in public at an event it’s very very discreet you send out

That interest form fill it out nobody knows but the people who requested it number five when you see members on campus speak it’s okay to speak even if it’s just a simple wave but us seeing your face repeatedly is a good thing like don’t feel bad because oh

You speak every time you see us and speak and it’s okay if you’re like if we’re in a private setting it’s okay to say hello my name is and i’m interested in learning more about your organization when and where can i find out more information now you do have

Most i’m going to say most organizations will direct you to their instagram and so you’ll be able to see events and things coming up they may also direct you um or tell you about uh informal rush or interest meeting where you will go and you are able to learn more about the

Organization at this time you are for sure going to learn more number six if you’re going to try to connect with members please make authentic bonds with us when i say authentic i mean follow us on instagram it’s okay to follow us on instagram slide up on our story

There you go you look pretty in this like it’s okay to form those type of bonds but please don’t every time you see us oh when’s the next line oh um how do i join how can i do this how can i do that you’ve already shown like if you

Especially if you’ve already expressed your interest it’s okay to just talk to us get to know us hey girl what you order from starbucks anything make that relationship authentic number seven please be presentable when showing up to events now what i mean by presentable all i’m saying is

Please don’t come to the event in your bonnet smelling like gas you know what i’m talking about y’all know what i’m talking about don’t play crazy number eight if you’re attending a virtual event be presentable as well when i say be presentable i mean have your camera on

Smile sit the phone down so we can see you make sure your background is nice and clear or even if you put the little you know because i’m saying we could do a little like green screen background type of thing yeah all of that is considered presentable

And even though the event is virtual we still look at those things number nine if you have questions please ask them it is okay to ask questions nobody is going to jump down your throat and look at you crazy because you have questions now what i will say is keep

Your questions cute if you have questions questions that we can answer like when is the next event we’ll be happy to share that information with y’all all right so for this last one i’m gonna throw it in as a bonus i wasn’t going to mention it at first

Because i was like no that’s a little bit harsh but it’s the truth please go and look up and figure out what the requirements are to join that organization you don’t want to be at every event doing the most or trying to make sure like that your presence is known and then

It’s time for you to show interest and you only got a 2.1 gpa just i’m just keeping it real with y’all please look at the requirements and different schools do have different requirements so yeah my school the minimum was a 2.5 but you never know there’s other schools that require 2.7 2.8

You just have to look up the school don’t go based off any of the videos figure out what the requirement is for yourself all right so that was all i got for the new section now i’m going to move into the don’ts number one this one i was just saying

Don’t go to anybody’s event i don’t care whose events and were that sorority’s colors or another sororities colors if you don’t learn nothing else please don’t do that number two i talked about it before and i’m gonna say it again don’t ask when is the next line y’all will be surprised surprised

How many girls come up and say oh what is your next line well hello how are you your name number three this is another one that is so big and i can even say i learned from my own mistakes with this one don’t walk around saying oh i want to be in this

Org oh i’m going to be in this or oh i want to join this or please don’t do that because you never know one over time your interest may change just because you wanted to be aka growing up doesn’t mean you’re going to get to college and you’re still going to want

To pursue aka and nothing’s wrong with changing your interests and that’s why you keep it so personal and near and dear to your heart no one can ask any questions no one can look at you funny and another reason is because you’re gonna be walking around telling people

Oh you interested oh yeah i got this in the back i got this in the bag and the line come out and everybody that children’s old is texting you like hey girl i was excited to see you and you wasn’t up there and now you’re embarrassed

Trying to come up with all kinds of excuses and reasons so while you weren’t in it no you’re not a member and lastly this easily this can easily get back to the chapter and that’s that’s that’s not what you want that’s that’s how luck is that’s not

What you want you don’t want that to happen why would you want to be that person number four please look at the attire on the flyers don’t show up to every event and your best dress easter sunday pantsuit or yo dress like it’s not it’s not necessary

Please come as you as you are yes be yourself and be presentable it’s no reason for all that we want to learn who you are and we know that 24 7 you are not walking around in a parachute in some high heels now if the flyer does say come in

Business professional come in casual business whatever that that’s when you do that that’s when you show them which come on now you better hit them with a sleigh number five don’t go to events and just sit there with a mean mug no one’s going to walk over to you

And speak to you even other people who came as interests or who come to the event to just engage and learn more and even as members we’re sitting there like oh well i don’t know if they’re having a bad day or but they’re here but i don’t know what’s going on so just

Save everyone some discomfort smile girl you came to engage with us and we as cool like that number six i think that this is such a big one because we do it as women and i don’t think i don’t even think we do it on purpose let me let me just say

Don’t go to an event and talk down on yourself don’t go to an event and be like oh yeah girl i don’t do community service because i don’t like people as a service based organization that’s going to look and sound a little bit crazy especially if this is your first

Time showing up to a function instead say i’m interested in learning more about getting involved in the community i’m interested in learning how to improve my social skills by working with the community there are so many other different ways that you can work this rather than just flat out saying oh i

Don’t yeah i don’t i don’t really i’m not a people person i don’t know people number seven i don’t even feel like i should be mentioning this but i’m going to don’t make the call don’t throw up a sign don’t hop in nobody’s stroll line there’s so many things that can go wrong

With this so many things and you don’t want to be that person number eight i threw this in here i never really seen well maybe one or two people i’ve seen one or two people say this but when you come and show interest in a sorority don’t talk down on another

Those are that’s the denial family that’s denial family just because you want to be uh as you wrote don’t mean you got to come to the event and be like yeah them deltas them reds you know uh um i can’t stand that little duck walk you know just saying anything don’t

Do that that is our family and who knows baby you talking down on them what you just said about us though you was inter what have you been saying period okay so just keep your thoughts to yourself it’s okay to be reserved about some things
