It is it is something that a lot of you act on like how to do basically and that is how to join a graduate chapter so I’m gonna be explaining basically two ways on how to join a graduate chapter but before I do that I do want to let you

Chapter but obviously you guys know that I’m in the process of joining my graduate chapter and I wanted to let you guys know how I how I’m doing it basically on this journey so for I’m going to explain it in two different ways basically the first way is if you
Are already a member of this organization you’re just joining a graduate chapter and then the other way is joining it fresh out you know what I’m saying like joining the trap joining the organization in general but on a graduate level okay so for those of you
Who are not who are like in the same position I am you graduated undergrad and you’re not currently and a graduate chapter you didn’t like roll right into one I know a lot of people do that just because of how expensive it is obviously my reason for not joining a graduate
Chapter right after college is because one I didn’t really know how to do it – I was not financially able to do that that wasn’t the first thing on my mind and I know are you gonna be like but what like you joints organization blah blah
I’m keeping it a buck with y’all beating these graduate choppers it is so expensive like Jews are so expensive like I don’t think people understand how special and good we have it when we’re in undergrad and we are in these chapters but nonetheless that was the
Main reason for me not joining raju a chapter right away after college because obviously he’s trying to find a job trying to figure out what I’m gonna do going through that whole phase like oh my god I’m not in school anymore after being in school for what 12 15 years of
My life trying to adjust to being an adult and not being a student as well if that makes sense now I’m trying to make excuses for myself but that was the real real for me so yeah so I didn’t go right into joining and I graduate chapter after
College it wasn’t the first thing on my mind at all and I’ma be 100 with y’all but obviously being active was something that was important to me and I wanted to make sure that I was being active in my community whether it was being active on
My own so if you guys follow me and watch my video when I had blogs me going to the juvenile detention center I wore my letters and I donated for me doing that you guys that was basically like me participating and being active in my community as an aka
Well as far as other things that I decided to do I decided to go to like meetings meet up with people obviously I wasn’t in their chapter but I did want to attend different service events and stuff like that just because I did also want to get an idea of the the chapter
That I wanted to be a part of so I was on the search for grad chapters I was attending events I did not blog them obviously because that’s just you know you’re not supposed to do that and I personally don’t want them to know that I have a YouTube
Channel until I’m in the organization that’s just me I mean not in the organization in the chapter so yeah so that’s something that I was doing attending service events making sure that I’m meeting different people in Chicago they have like citywide chapters so it’s different chapters everywhere in
And in the area so it’s very important for me to make sure that I’m finding the right group of women that I want to be in an organization with because obviously once you’re in it obviously you’re in and you can I believe you can change chapters but I mean I don’t want
To go through all that work to do that anyways so I want to make sure that I’m you know putting myself in the right position to basically be in this chapter love this chapter love the people that’s in this chapter because obviously I did not have the first I’ve not had the best
Experience the first time along joining out the top officer and incorporate unfortunately but nonetheless you guys I’m going to walk you guys through the steps of me being a person that’s already in this organization and transitioning to a graduate chapter after some time so I’ve been out of
School since December of 2018 is currently July 2020 I saw the first step to joining a graduate chapter is since you’re if you’re already in the organization you’re just transitioning to a graduate chapter what you have to do is find the topic that interests you the most reach out to the vice president
This is with anybody the vice president is the Membership Chairman so reach out to the vice president express your interest let them know like hey I came from this University I’m interested in joining your graduate chapter just to further my membership and you know my community service and my my due
Diligence in this organization with your organ with your chapter and basically what you do after that the vice president respect out to you they will tell you the meeting times and everything like that and then you would just you know if you’re a good fit with them you’ll just start up start paying
Shop to do the meetings go into events etc etc so that’s something that’s very important because you definitely want to make sure that you express your interest it’s not with graduate chapters that you guys are not so much discretion discussion is not an important thing I’ve come to realize with graduate shop
Is just because regarding in the organization you know what I’m saying and everybody needs to know who you are anyway so it’s important for you to really express interest I get to so many questions from girls talking about like hey how do I go about expressing interest with
Graduate chapter like you need to let them know they will not know at all so it’s really simple really easy on joining a graduate chapter when you’re already a part of the organization now the second part is basically you joining fresh out so you’re not affiliated at
All with this organization you want to join for the first time but you want to join in a graduate chapter so what you do again find a chapter that’s closest to you or that piques your interest the chapter that is closest or not closer to me the childhood that piqued my interest
In that you know I actually fell in love with some of the members it’s not close to me at all but it’s worth the drive it’s worth you know the time and the money because I really connect with the women in this organization and absolutely love them they already know
About my my youtube channel I didn’t even have to tell them I didn’t want to tell them at first just because you know I like people people are kind of like weird when it comes to this chapter I mean this YouTube stuff but luckily for me I came across some amazing women and
They’re not too older nothing that being older is a bad thing but I don’t know why I always connect with older women I feel like I have more as a other mature connection with them just because they’re a little bit more mature than the younger people that are in these
Organizations that are my age a lot of the girls that I met are either my age or a little bit older than me but in the same age range as myself so I really fell in love with some of the members they made me feel like welcomed and
Everything like that they already knew me from my youtube channel so they were like they had a little couple questions and stuff like that and you know they wanted to address a couple of things but once we talked and everything they realized who I was and they realize like
You know she just making her money she’s educating these young black women and men about Greek life and they didn’t see anything wrong with it so props to them for you know being okay with that because a lot of the chapters that so the first time and I’m gonna get back
Into the steps but I wanted to quickly tell you guys the first time that I was interested or showing my interest in some graduate chapters actually one that was super close to me they asked me about myself and stuff like that what school I came from what
I do for a living I told them everything I did for a living so I told my my 9 to 5 job my two businesses and my youtube channel there’s like a YouTube channel and there was just like over YouTube blah blah blah and I was hesitant on
First but I didn’t want to lie because I didn’t want it to come back up and they’d be like oh you liked us you know what I’m saying so I told him about it and they were just completely disgusted they were just like oh no we cannot do
This we don’t like this blah blah blah and it’s their right to do that because ultimately another basically step in joining a gradual chapter fresh out is you knowing and them knowing if you are going to fit in with them and I don’t say that to sound very cliquish but it
Is like a real thing you’re dealing with you’re dealing with professional people so it’s not like college where everybody is in school everybody can meet whenever they can you know fine schedules like people are very busy people are a little bit more professional and people are a
Little bit more cautious on the people that they join or that they have joined their chapter because you are essentially not only a representation of the entire organization but your representation of that chapter and those people in that chapter so to them me being in their chapter would I guess
Hurt them or make them feel a certain type of way because I had a youtube channel and I was so vocal on my experiences and my undergraduate career joining Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated so they were not too happy about that which I understood I didn’t really I don’t really like the women
That was in that chapter they didn’t turn me down but they requested that I just didn’t make any more videos about that about Greek life and I personally told them like hey like this is this is what I do people you know literally want to watch these videos I’m not going to
One stop an income to stop something that I love to do and 3 stop putting our information that can potentially help somebody have a better experience than I did so that was just that but yeah so obviously going back to the steps you guys I just wanted to say that you find
The entrance if I find the chapter that interest you the most whether it’s closer to you or you just piques your interest reach out to the vice-president which is okay the Membership Chairman and you express your interest and then you basically have to be invited to events now I suggest you
Guys try to find public events to go to do not go to events that are not public it they will not suffer being put on the flyer open to the public or whatever or all is welcome or whatever the case may be but they don’t have that one there or
You find out in about an event and nobody told you about it that means that you’re not invited and I would not go because then they will be looking at you like why the [ __ ] is she here you know I’m saying so don’t don’t go to events that you’re
Not invited to or ie or are not open to the public so that’s another thing also try to get to know a lot of people like I said before discretion it’s not one of like discussion is not as as important as it is an undergrad as it is and
Graduate chapters just because everybody is on a professional level you’re dealing with more professional mature some of them people and you definitely want to make sure that you’re expressing your interest and that you’re connecting with people because not only is it a networking tool but it’s also somebody
That can vouch for you to invite you to events to tell you about certain things also guys you want to make sure that you are financially stable you want to make sure that you are able to be in this chapter financially also you want to make sure that you have your
Undergraduate degree and then the since you are joining for the very very first time they have nothing to go off on so they don’t know you prior to them meeting you so they want to make sure that they get to know you and they want to make sure that you have a
Professional and you know a professional background career they want to make sure that you are you know up to their standard because essentially you have to be able to fit in with these people it’s very different from undergraduate you guys so definitely make sure that you’re financially stable definitely
Make sure that you have that job and you have that money to be in this organization also in graduate chapters they don’t have probates they have like many ceremonies like little gatherings little parties that you know they uh you know come recognize you and stuff like that it’s very it’s more professional
Than it is with undergrad it’s very different you guys so when you are joining or wanting to join when you are wanting to join these graduate chapters please be aware that it’s not just all fun and strolling like the chapter that I mean they rarely stroll
They went to Atlanta what is it the AGPL enegry picnic last year so they like was showing me videos of them and stuff like that so like it was it was dope or whatever but it’s mainly about business you guys like people say like we’re we’re not just you know social
Organizations were also business organizations like when I say graduate chapter is nothing but business it’s nothing but business so definitely definitely definitely understand that you just don’t want to make sure you don’t want to make you know yourself out to be like the person that’s only joining for the letters with these
Graduate shoppers because they can definitely see that if you’re not willing to put in the work then you know it’s not gonna be a good look for you and it’s not gonna be fun to you um if you’re not willing to you know actually
Do what needs to be done and you know be professional at all times then a graduate chapter for any organization is not for you so I hope that answered all your questions I will be taking you guys along my journey of oh you know everything that I got going on I don’t
