What’s up everybody back again with a second video I don’t know if I’m uploading this in the same week as the other videos so this might come after or whatever I don’t know what you guys are watching this anyways this is gonna be a video related to Greek life um I’ve done
A couple videos in the past talking about my experience with Greek life and stuff like that but it’s just been my perspective so I thought it’d be cool you know to get somebody else’s perspective and if you I don’t know this is Jawara I’ve introduced him
Thousands of times this is my ATP I don’t I don’t know what that means anyways yeah pretty much you know he was in he was in charge of you know helping me become an iota to put it you know quite frankly um anyways I guess we’re
Gonna start off by just kind of and I’ll let you go first because I’ve already talked about my my piece but sort of how I has I guess influenced you or you know what made you want to join iota or things you’ve gotten out of it or you know whatever
Like you could talk about Greek life in general so yeah like example my D my anytime I need help I can call on my Dean and he always has someone or another brother that can help me in any situation I need in fact the best situation anytime I travel I I figure
Out if there are any chapters around and I reach out to the brother so I know what’s good food you know what where can I go where it’s the best place to stay you know I’m on the collegiate diet so I’m trying to save money and gas money
You know so always being able to have that network even though they don’t know me they know me because we’ve gone through the same similar things and we understand the same process you know unlike my solo here I’m part of a line you know shout out all the dots out
There we have love to you but you know you could be the period at the end of the sentence I’m the whole sentence yes there you know shout-out to the deuce yes so to kind of play off what he’s saying um you know I’ve touched on it before but
Just having that network and and I will say this to being Greek a lot of people just I guess feel like like they assume like you’re always gonna have that network at your disposal if you don’t reach out to people you’re really not you know so like Greek life is really up
To what you make it like whatever you put in is what you’re gonna get out you know so if I go to SAP move to I don’t know oh hi oh or something like that right and I’m chilling if I don’t reach out to anybody
If I don’t make the effort to go on Facebook and be like oh what chapter is here we’re like you know find people in the area then you’re still kind of you’re not reaping the benefits of being Greek you know you’re gonna do what’s up frat and they’re gonna say you know so
Actually reaching out to people once you become Greek is important and uh just you know fostering those connections to don’t not only reaching out to people just when you you need help you know like going out and say you move to a new area like doing community service with
The brothers there or the sisters there if you’re in a sorority um that helps build that bond in a house then kind of get to know you as well so it feels more like a family instead of just hey like I kind of you got the same letters as me
You know help me out give me a ride and you know this is it’ll be like what it is and I gotta say if you really are interested about being Greek even slightly I would say whatever chapter you join you’re gonna join that that culture and so if you do not like your
Your chapters culture you have to be willing immediately after you cross that be the person to stay we gotta step in and change this you have to understand that if you want to expand as a person you have to put yourself in experiences that are gonna force you to grow um and
Kind of just to play off what he said again I definitely think that in terms of chapter culture because you touched on that chapter culture is a big thing just kind of understanding the chapter that you’re joining and how they act that could really influence your personality you know or not not your
Personality so much I guess the way that you carry yourself because a lot of the times once you join a chapter people start to see you as part of that group they see you as part of like one unit you know what I mean and they expect you
Guys to kind of all carry yourself the same or act the same not that you have to but it’s very easy to kind of get sucked into that I guess that vortex of I have to act like all these people now just because I’m a part of this group or
A part of this chapter and you know one of the great things that about my chapter that that just does really dope and I’m pretty sure you guys can you guys can see this in this video we’re all very different so there’s no there’s
No real like there was no real like oh I have to act this way because I’m part of the Zeta theta chapter you know what I mean like it was sort of just yeah yeah we just we just are who we are where individuals Jawara very different
Guy than me you know I’m very different people but you know we work we still work well together we still support each other a hundred percent and yeah you know um I’m trying to think of what else what else what else what other topics I guess our big image of other Greeks oh
Yeah there’s a lot of positivity in the Greek life you know there’s a lot of positivity but there’s also a lot you know being Greek is petty like and you have to understand that it’s gonna come with it it’s given its take and you know you might meet a chapter you might the
Best thing is you gotta travel and you know that you’ll go to a different yarn aoc whoa these Sigma’s and these Zetas and these AI odors they’re all best friends you go to a different yard and they ready to go to war and uh in terms
Of that to I would definitely say this if any of you guys go gris-gris you’re already Greek and you have sort of that like I don’t know like some some people just have their very petty all right don’t be petty like honestly the NPHC I’ll say this black Greeks and like MPAC
Soho we’re supposed to be working together dog honestly like our founders would be proud to see us working together as one there’s a lot of people who still have a lot of divisive I guess ideology surrounding you know all my org is better than your org and
Because of that I’m not gonna talk to you and things of that sort so don’t be one of those people be one of those people who’s willing to reach out to people you should have you know I have my brothers within my org you know what
I mean and I have you know people I’m super close to outside of my work you know whether they’re Kappa Alpha you know Sigma you know like you got it you got to have you got to have those people outside and inside of your order that
You’re willing to work I work with not just because you were different letters you know I’m not like I’m not cool with you you know that doesn’t make any sense and always expending that with whether there are other Greeks you never know when down the line you might meet this
Person say hey you can offer you a job and just because you showed him respect or showed her respect and now they’re out there in a different position and you need to learn that skill they can help you and people are very for coming once your Greek because they
Understand you know they’re not I Otis you know they can’t keep up with us but they understand we’ve all gone through the same thing similar things you know you know I was just slightly bad about it and and I guess but yeah it’s just it’s like an overall I guess the culture
Is well like you have the coach of your organization then you have the culture of NPHC as a host like all of the the nine organizations within the National pan-hellenic Council and just sort of having that common culture you know just understanding some of the same things
And I having some of the same experiences it really does provide an opportunity to the bond it’s something for you guys to you know that you’re clicking you know if I met somebody else who’s Greek at my job doesn’t mean that I owed you know to me but the fact that
They’re in NPHC that kind of gives us a commonality like a common ground you know something that we can both connect on so definitely like Jawara said those connections open and you know make the most of your Greek experience don’t be one of those people you get your letters
Then you go sit in your house and watch Netflix for the next 15 years you know I didn’t make any sense both but I think I think we’re gonna cut that video there that should be I think long enough this whole this B is chilling bro okay um
