So i wanted to do this video because um the video that i did before as i mentioned when this video started was you know my journey to how i became aka and i’ve been looking and like i see like so many people have seen the video
And so this video i actually wanted to do for a while but i just been very busy and i’ve been having a lot going on so i haven’t had the time to get to doing this video but i’m doing that now for y’all so as you can tell by the title of this
Video i will be giving greek advice and how to be interest do’s and don’ts type things um so we’re just going to jump into um some greek advice so i got a list of stuff right here on my phone for y’all um so i’m gonna come and i’m gonna give it to y’all
Straight 100 so my first um i guess advice greek advice is don’t join a sorority because you think it’s cute and this is and i’m gonna say this as a general sense whether it’s a sorority or a fraternity no matter what sorority it is don’t join organization because you think it’s cute
Don’t join the organization because you think it’s cool and y’all might be like now why would people do that i kid y’all not i have seen some things and i’ve heard like some people say like the wildest things like example for my organization someone actually said that they wanted to be a
Part of fk that was already incorporated because they thought it was cute and they liked the colors like like come on y’all like make it make sense like that’s if you think that saying that you want to be a part of something because you think it’s cute and you like the colors
If you are okay with seeing something like that out of your mouth you don’t need to be on my org whether it’s might work whether it’s sigma gamma rho whether it’s delta sigma theta you don’t need to be a part of an orc if you
Just want to be a part of that or because you think it’s cute and you like their colors like nah that’s a no-no now we gonna move on to greek advice number two don’t join an organization because you want clout and let me tell y’all i’ve seen throughout my time
I’ve seen a lot of people think that if they join this organization that they gonna have some type of clout like if they become a part of organization in general that they’re going to be the sh and news flash or not and i’m not i’m not trying to say this
To be mean but i’m just saying this to be 100. if you are a lame as as people might call or say if you are a lame before you are greek just because you got some left on your chest and a number on your back that doesn’t mean
You’re not still going to be in lane like if you weren’t anybody before you became a part of the organization you still won’t be nobody so i feel like a lot of people join organizations um greek letter organizations to cloud chase and if you’re doing that like
Greek life is not for you like and when people see that especially like other greek people like we look at that and we just be like like come on now like that’s what you’re drawing for it to get clout like if you ain’t bad at the clout if
You don’t have a cloud before the letters you’re not going to have the clout now and i’m just that’s just me being transparent that’s just me being 100 because like i said a lot of people join organizations because they think that if they are a part of this organization
They’re going to have some type of clout where like everybody’s going to be like yeah what the bam so and so yeah no it’s it’s literally it’s not like that it won’t be like that and if you go into to wanting to pursue an organization with that type of mentality
With that uh mind frame you sadly mistaken you gonna get your little feelings hurt and i’m just being so serious let’s get into greek advice number three don’t pursue a greek letter organization and this is any organization this is just not alpha kappa alpha do not pursue any greek organization
With the intentions to be a t-shirt wearer and some of y’all might be like what does a t-shirt wear a t-shirt where is basically somebody who does not do anything but will quickly throw on a hoodie quickly will throw on a jacket with their letters on it that’s somebody
Who is a t-shirt wearer somebody who when y’all putting on events they aren’t at the meetings or if they are at the meetings they’re not engaged and if y’all are at events and they’re sitting there and they’re not doing anything that’s a t-shirt where they’re going to make sure that they show up
For any and every event where calls for you to you know be front line you know in your whole you know organization or whatever the case may be they’re going to make sure they’re there but they they won’t do no work behind the scenes you don’t want to be a t-shirt where
And and it’s sucky because every org has a t-shirt what even if you think that you picked the right girls it’s still somehow in the cracks you have t-shirts like it never fails and that that’s so hard because nobody wants somebody in that organization who’s not going to put the their best
Foot forward with the organization who’s not going to make sure the organization is flourishing and who’s not going to put in effort when putting on programs when doing stuff that relates um to the sorority like don’t be a t-shirt where y’all like don’t don’t sell this stuff rip or this image
To people within this organization yeah i’m gonna do this i’m gonna do that if you know that you only want to be in this organization to wear the t-shirt to wear that sweater to wear that hoodie to wear that jacket don’t do that like don’t do that like that’s not cool
Period like it’s not moving on greek advice number four be genuine with why you want to be a part of this organization so i’m a member of outcaps already incorporated so i’m going to speak for my for me for my organization okay so you are expressing your interest to me
Or to one of my ships or someone else um who might be in the same organization as me be genuine with um your interest to want to be in my organization because i’ve seen a lot of the times that a lot of people it’s like a replica for an answer on why
People said they want to be a part of afghan alphas already incorporated and it’s like it’s nothing original like so it’s kind of like so everybody want to be a part of our cap alpha because who up the bam like like know like what makes you stand out because literally
Everybody has the same dang gone reason um and i’m speaking for my org because this is what i’ve seen i’ve seen a lot of people have the same reason for why they want to be so why they want to be a part of my organization i want to be a part of my
Chapter it’s very important to have some type of originality nobody wants the same type of people within their organization like nobody wants to hear the same oh i want to be a part of cal alpha because i want sisterhood like i’ve heard that sisterhood line and i’m
Not even joking y’all i heard that sister little lying so many times it’s like that’s the only thing that comes to mind to people like you don’t want to do service like you don’t want to like help people like you don’t want to some is so much stuff that people can say
Um on why they want to be a part of um cap alpha but for some reason people are drawn to saying sisterhood and i for the life of me i can’t understand why that’s the first thing that people say don’t get me wrong yes sisterhood is a great thing but like are
You excited to put on programs show up and put in work are you trying to see the chapter flourish the organization flourish do you want to be a part of the order because you want to go to all these different uh conferences networking meeting people it’s kind of like pursuing your interest
To want to be a part of a sorority and or fraternity it’s literally like a job interview like what can you do for me you get what i’m saying like what can you do for my organization what can you do for my chapter what can you do for my org
And if all you can tell me is you can be sisterly you kill it clearly can’t do much for me like you know you have to have to be genuine about why you want to be a part of something like don’t be a part of something
Just because you just want to wear a t-shirt don’t pers or or don’t have the intentions to want to be a part of something and the reason why you want to be a part of it it’s not a genuine reason like nothing is genuine about it like it’s
A rehearsal line because i kid you not a lot of people say the same thing like i i don’t hear any originality or any genuineness on why people want to be a part of these organizations and um that’s sad so if you are out there and you want to be
A part of a org please please please be genuine and have a genuine reason on why why you want to be a part of this aura you know and i’m just you know being honest y’all greek advice number five um it kind of like annoys me because
You have a lot of movies tv television shows and etc that portrays and have you know sororities and fraternities shown in a certain light and i think that when people see these things on movies and television shows that they come to college with this expectation of that’s
What they see on television like that’s what it’s supposed to be and so my advice is that don’t pursue a greek letter organization again whether this is a sorority or a fraternity do not pursue these organizations with the attentions of you you thinking what you see on tv is
What it’s going to be like don’t come with that mindset of or the expectation of what you saw on television or what you saw through a movie that that’s what’s going to be your reality because you’re going to be sadly sadly mistaken like don’t just go off of what you see on tv
He always um you know illustrates things um in an over exaggerated way like so i don’t think you should take what you see and wrong with it um i guess that’s what my take of it all is don’t run with it what you see or whatever um you see what you see on
Television and then but you know that when you step foot on this campus or while you’re there already at this campus that what you saw that’s not that’s not what’s going to be reality like and yeah so let’s go to greek advice number six remember that people who are in greek letter organizations
Again whether it’s a sorority or a fraternity we are human i think that and i feel that i also see that a lot of people now don’t get me wrong when you become an aka when you become a zeta when you become an sg row if you become a cute
You become an alpha people are always going to reference you as so-and-so the alpha porsche the aka um brittany the zeta like people are always going to reference you not as an individual but as an individual who is a part of this organization so and i think a lot of people kind of
Forget that i i take my letters off too i don’t sleep in my jackets you know what i’m saying like i don’t sleep in my sweaters i don’t sleep in my t-shirts i was a regular individual i was human and i’m still human whether i have letters on or whether i don’t have
Letters on what whether i’m a part of organization or whether i’m not a part of organization and i kind of feel like you know some people like might look at you and be like oh like why is she doing x y and z or you know and it’s just kind of like
I am human y’all like just like we have bad days just like everybody else had bad days but it’s kind of like you know if you having a bad day or if you’re just not walking around on campus just smiling oh she has attitude and you you you just might not even have
Attitude or you might just you know be having a rough day but people literally take that and run with it oh she always got attitude that just because you seen you just cuz you caught that person at that one moment or she always got an attitude
Or she always x y and z and it’s just like don’t you have attitude i’m sure you have attitude everybody everybody has bad days don’t you gotta don’t you have bad days like people forget that we are human like we are people too you see my skin
Like you have skin too i bleed just like you bleed like people literally take like i love being i love being in my organization i love being a part of alpha kappa alpha but i think that people take take us being in sororities and us being in fraternities
Way too serious and i’m also saying i’m gonna add on to this people who all who are agreed to take them being in a sorority and or in a fraternity they take it too serious like i’ve seen like people just do way too much and i just be like i
I don’t even be doing all that or doing too much don’t get me wrong you can have pride and joy in the organization that you’re part of because like i said i love my organization so much i love my chapter so much but like you don’t see me doing the most
You don’t see me being extra like some people that are greek um and i’m just being honest take things too too too serious like i just be like dad like i just be looking like but that’s just a little add-on to like what i was you know saying or whatever you know as
People you know being greek you know like for other people who are not greek we are still human you know like don’t take anything that happens or how you see us in a certain light in a certain moment don’t take that and run with it you know what i’m saying like
Because like i said people be having a bad day um and we all are human um not to say that people having a bad day that they can be nasty now that’s not what i said but yeah so now i want to move into like how to be an
Interest kind of like a few do’s and don’ts of this because i don’t want this video to be too long but i definitely want you guys to you know get some good good information that you guys can use if you are pursuing um being a sorority or fraternity so
Yeah so let’s get into the first one so there is a time and place for everything and i’m saying this to say because a lot of people choose the most awkward is in weird times and moments to go and express their interest like if you are in a club
And you see somebody oh look at that go to zetas i’m going to go up and express my interest that is that’s not the time and the place because we’re trying to have a good time they trying to turn up they’re trying to get lit nobody is
In the mind state of thinking about their organization at that moment um to where you know they want to sit here in the club and converse and have a conversation with someone without being interested in or like there’s literally times and places and i’ma tie this back to the greek
Advice as far as we are human so so us being human and there’s a time and a place example be like in the union student union and they’re sitting there eating you know between classes that’s not the time for you to go and do a whole bio on yourself
And i’m saying this because this has happened to me and a few of my shifts we were in the student union and literally someone walked up and gave us a whole bio my name is i am a junior i am a part of x y and z they gave us a whole rundown
A whole run down and it it kinda you know i was i was nice about it i wasn’t gonna be rude or whatever but it did kind of threw me for a little because it’s like you know i’m just trying to eat my food you know i’m hungry
You know in between classes it’s one thing to say hey and to speak but it’s another thing to at that moment in time to be given a whole rundown and a bio of you that’s not the place to do that i’m going to get to
The time and place to do that but that’s not the time and place to do that which is why i said too that we are human like just like you have classes we have classes and just like you might want to come during the time that you have a break to
Get food we want to do the same and you want to enjoy it you want to converse with your friends and we want to do the same you know so you know don’t just be walking up to them hi my name is first and last name
Um i am a da da da and that like no that’s not that’s not it and i’m interested in afghan no no no no no that’s not it that’s not it bill that’s not it boo don’t do it so yeah that’s that moving on to number two
If you are interested in an organization you should be going to all events or anything that that organization puts on whether it’s um an event that they have solely just that organization or if it’s something that they’re doing other organizations you should always be present and always at you know event that the
Org that you are interested in know is hosting because you can’t be interested in something and don’t show up for events like like how that work you can’t expect as you can’t express your interest to these people within this organization and don’t show up for events like so
Are you sure you want to be a part of the organization like you can be if you don’t show up for events and if you can’t show up for events this also ties into my my third point is even if you can’t show up to events or anything that this
Organization that you want to be a part of is hosting contact somebody that you are that you have some sort of relationship with or even if you don’t have a relationship with them still reach out to somebody and you know you say hey my name is
So-and-so and so i know you all have a event today wanted to inform you all that i can’t make it due to x y and z and if it’s something like donating or like like a drive or something or any event like where you could somehow make up
You know because even though that you couldn’t attend you know you would say you know apologies that i could not attend i know that it was a drive is there any way that day before or day after that i can bring you uh my the pencils and notebook paper or notebooks
Or whatever like it’s a way in which you do any and everything yeah and i’m trying to put y’all up on game or whatever because i know a lot of people you know might come incorrectly two people within these organizations and might get the side eye and that but that’s just because they
Don’t know so i’m just trying to you know give y’all a little you know info you know just help y’all out a little bit give y’all some tips and you know help y’all with how you do things and how you say things so this moving on to
Three although i tied a little bit into two yeah three basically like i said into just like if you can’t make organize if you can’t make events that the organization that you’re interested in is hosting contact somebody and let someone know you you you never really realize or people never really know
That you doing that like that goes a long way because one you took the initiative to let me know that you know you weren’t going to be able to come but you know you wanted to come but you couldn’t do to whatever you know circumstances that you have going on
But also not only that but you still wanted to donate or contribute to the event in some way possible that right there i’ll go a long way i’m trying to tell y’all i’m trying to tell y’all y’all gonna look back at this video and y’all call me y’all gonna be like
Porsha you when you say xyz that was so helpful like i kid y’all not like because a lot of people like i said they don’t know these things and they come incorrect and you know people miss out on you know being a part of things because they just don’t know
This goes for number four yo this is a don’t this is a don’t if you are at honestly it doesn’t even matter where you at whether it’s activities fair whether it’s an event whether it’s anywhere do not walk up to anybody and i mean anybody who’s a part of a greek letter organization
That you want to be a part of and ask them when is their next rush do not do that do not do that especially if especially if they don’t know you um and you haven’t expressed your interest um you know they’ve never seen you before you’ve never communicated with any of
Them that is you do not you do not do that don’t walk up to them people and be like when is your next rush one that’ll put a bad taste in a mouth about you then two that’s just not how you approach approach people especially if something
That you you know you want to be a part of you just don’t jump out the gate when is your next rush like like they don’t sit there and tell you oh our next rush is what to be i’m like no like you put in the work you show
That you want to be a part of the organization you build these relationships and then along the line then when you have these relationships with these people then you know they’re able to tell you boo make sure you got your stuff together because something coming
Is coming like but for you to just walk up to somebody at an event at a uh activities fair anywhere and say when y’all next rush no no miss mamas do not do it and that’s the same for dudes like don’t do that even like or informational
Um that’s what guys use do not do that do not do that that’s the quickest way to get to have those people part of that organization to have a bad and a sour taste about you don’t do it and the last thing number five that i’m going to end with never
Ask questions that one you can look online to find out and then two that you can do research to find out because an accent me about alpha cap alpha when we were founded incorporated that stuff if you are interested in the organization again no matter what the
Organization is if you are interested in a organization you should already know and you should already be doing your research about these things there’s no way that you should be asking questions that you can find on the internet about an organ that you want to be a
Part of you shouldn’t even be asking questions about the order that you want to be a part of keeping the questions that you should be asking should be pertaining to you wanting to get to know the people in those organizations better you should not be asking questions about an organization that
You want to be a part of and that you can find online like you should not be asking me how many founders i have Because we all have a phone we all have a laptop we all have some type of device where we can go to google and we can ask google and we can research things we have an aka website where you can find things that you want to find on there
So but that’s for any organization so you should not be asking things that can be found online and researched because then it’s just like how you want to be a part of something as i stated in my other org how you want to be a part of something
But don’t know anything about the oars but can do your research online to find out about the ore or you even step foot to anybody within an organization you should have knowledge about that org you should already have knowledge you should not step foot to anybody
Within the org that you want to be a part of and or are interested in and don’t know nothing about the org that’s a no-no you should not ever ever ever ever do that okay y’all so i got my bonnet well my scarf on my phone but i just remember something that i
Wanted to add so i’m just gonna insert it in there discretion is key y’all if you want to be a part of an organization people should know that you want to be a part of the organization it should be a surprise when you come out nobody should
Be like oh i knew she was going to be on that line discretion is keeping this goes to like how to be a good interest don’t go telling everybody that you want to be a gay don’t go tell anybody you want to be a zeta say i’m going to roll
Whatever the case may be that you want to be do not go and be blessed into the world i’m telling everybody that’s not for everybody to know discretion is key and if you don’t have discretion that’s not a good look and with that being said i’m going to end this video

A junior sophomore freshman whatever you might be what your name is and then that’s enough and then response you get you know then that’s how the conversation goes but when you just come to somebody um hey i want to be a part of your organization no that’s not how you know that’s not
