Spotlight our NPH the organization of today which is going to be the ladies of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated and here are some of their notable members All right so today’s video is going to be do not join a sorority if I’m going to tell you some reasons that you should not join a sorority I’m sure many of you know the which why you should join a sorority and if you don’t then check out
My first video of the NPHC marathon which is the pros of being a member and you might get some insight of why reasons why you should join a sorority however we’re gonna talk about home or some reasons why you should not join a sorority this will be a list of things
That are just really bad reasons to say you want to join a sorority for and if these are your only reasons for wanting to join a sorority then you should absolutely rethink that idea it’s okay for some of these reasons you know might seem exciting reasons to
Join a sorority or fraternity but don’t make this your whole basis of why you want to be a member of one of these organizations and we’re gonna get started into the list and I’m gonna give a little short explanation for each one alright let’s get started the first one
Is do not join a sorority if you just want popularity or clout because joining a sorority or fraternity comes with great responsibility so with the clout that you may or may not get but if you do get clout from joining these organizations with that cloud comes very very very great responsibility of
Representing your organization and not just yourself any longer also just because you became a member of our organization does not mean you’re going to get clout or popularity if you weren’t popular before and you didn’t have clout before you may still not have those things once you join because the
Reason a lot of people have popularity or clout or things like that because they’re very social they thrust themselves into social atmospheres and that sort of thing so if you’re just not that person you may not get the popularity of club that you’re so searching for if that’s what you think
You’re going to get out of joining one of these organizations so don’t let that be the basis of you joining the next one is you just want to stroll or step being a part of a sorority and being a part of fraternity are not all about the fun
Strolling and stepping or the part that sort of thing it’s a lot of work that goes into it if you guys consistently watch my videos and you understand how much work it is to go into a sorority or fraternity it’s a lot of work these are businesses that are
Ran by all of these individuals that make up the whole of these organizations it is not just fun and games yes yes strolling and stepping are major tools for recruitment in these organizations but it is not the sole purpose of these organizations they cannot thrive or grow just by being stepping strolling dancing
Organizations so don’t let that be the only reason you want to join if that’s something that you’re excited about as like a perk of joining that’s cool you know it is fun um it is exciting and you can’t be but do not let that be your sole purpose of joining one of these
Organizations the next one is do not join a sorority if you do not have the time commitment if you don’t have the time already to do certain things uh and uphold your responsibilities and and that sort of thing then maybe should rethink joining a sorority or fraternity
At this time it doesn’t mean ever it just means at this time sometimes sororities and fraternities can help you with time management but they can’t completely mold you into being a person who sticks to your commitments and your responsibilities if that is not you and you have to work on that and that’s
Something you have to work on we’re gonna buy yourself don’t work on it with the whole foundation of your organization on your back your chapter your sisters your brothers will be depending on you so they don’t have time to sit there and babysit you awake for
You to learn to to to honor your commitments that’s something that you should go into the organization already knowing so if you don’t if you’re not a person who can stick to your commitments and hold true to your responsibilities then maybe joining a sorority or fraternity is not for you and that
Should not be a reason to join if you don’t have the time commitment for it and you just want to be a part of it but you don’t have time for it do not join a sorority just because you like the call or the colors a lot of people and this
Is really sad that I even have to say this but you look at the colors and you say oh I look good in that color or that’s my favorite color or when I was a baby my mom dressed me in that color all the time and you think that that’s how you
Should base your choice of a sorority or a fraternity that is dumb mm-hm that is very very not smart just because the color looks good on you don’t mean that the the principles of that organization that the standards of that organization look good on you that doesn’t mean that you’ll fit into that
Mode that doesn’t mean that you will get along with those sisters or you want to that you should be a part of that organization because the colors look nice you can wear those colors without wearing the letters so that’s the only reason you want to join don’t do it and
Just because a call sounds nice we said oh my voice doesn’t go up that high or oh I like theirs because it’s a little bit longer and drawn out or whatever reason that’s stupid to whatever organization that you pledge your life to and that you become a member too and
You actually dedicate your you dedicate your life to and you’re responsible and you’re committed to your gonna be excited to say whatever call it is no matter how pits how high-pitched it is how long it is how crazy it sounds how people look at you you’re gonna say your
Call whenever however you want to because you’re going to be proud and you’re gonna have honor in that organization that you chose to be a part of so don’t pick your organization based off of trivial things like colors and calls do not join a sorority if someone
You know joined I’m not saying that you cannot be a part of an organization that’s someone you know join or family member join or even be a legacy what I’m saying is don’t pick an organization based off of that reason don’t join a sorority because you’re a legacy if
That’s not what you fit into if that’s not what you love or what you see yourself being don’t join it just because your mom did it don’t join it because your dad’s gonna look at you different or because you want to have something to talk about with your aunt
Sac Thanksgiving and you don’t want to feel left out don’t join sorority just to feel a part of something that somebody else paved their way for pave your own way make your own legacy so don’t make it the reason you joined soit is because your friend did it or a family member
Did or somebody’s gonna look at you funny for choosing what you chose you are the one who have to be a member of that organization you are the ones who have to dedicate your life and hold that honor of that organization those standards and those principles of that organization so you choose the
Organization based off what you want and nobody else and the last one is do not join us sorority to get guys or girls you’re gonna get guys or girls if you’re the type of person who gets guys or girls being a part of an organization does not necessarily mean that you will
Just having letters on your chest does not necessarily mean that men are gonna flock to you or women are gonna flock to you or whatever it just means that you have letters on your chest and to be honest sometimes it helps some people out it gives them an extra push to look
Cool or whatever just because they’re part of a you know of a camaraderie or fraternity something on the inside it just looks cool but most of the time if you’re the type if you’re not someone’s type before the letters or not someone’s type after the letters and if you are
Someone’s type after the letters it’s because of an opportunity it’s not because of you so don’t let that be the only reason that you try to become a member of one of these organizations either because you should want someone who loves you for you who wants you for
You who actually is attract to you who likes you and you should have to trick them by wearing letters to get their attention so don’t let that be the reason you join a sorority or a fraternity that will be it for today’s video you guys I hope you guys enjoyed
This I hope that I gave you some insight into some of the crazy reasons why some people want to join organizations and also may be deterred some of you who want to join organizations just for these reasons alone because you don’t have to be a member of the organizations
