Start the community and make an impact tell us about that well I work with community centers so I help kind of mold kids they come in off the street we help them stay off the street we’re get them literacy better lunches we get them help in any way we can to
Help them be better citizens thin mints well if that’s the city of Memphis and we have 24 community centers and summer camp we serve probably about 3,000 kids during the year we serve anywhere between 30 to 100 and each community center giving back and always definitely yes yes it’s in my DNA
Yeah I saw these ladies when I was in college and on Lamont on college and so I was in high school and I said I thought these ladies wear a red shirt and I said wait a minute they mean business I think I like them and so ever since
Then they kind of just sparked my interest in just being socially active as an adult and I said that was my gateway to just getting involved now how often do you guys get a chance to do things together since you’re members of different organisms Oh with our jobs being so together we
Collaborate on work all the time yeah she works with on services and so when I need volunteers for my own teams my kids basketball team soccer team is whatever it is I go to her and she say I got you covered and then she helps me look where I’m
Actually just a financial number right now active and looking for a chapter to be in yeah absolutely but looking for a chapter to be in but with all the things that we do in the city of Memphis we have Junior League membership we also are part of just a number of different
Groups and our goal is not just to be recognized as a number of Delta Sigma Theta or Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated its to be Mints known as an african-american female who’s doing great things to her city so now you I know you’ve seen speaking of that yeah
Women black women are super empowered now yeah and it’s something that we’ve seen all the time the whole natural revolution is going on but the strength of obviously the black woman is coming back into play it we never went away I think now we’re being recognized because
They see they’re seeing now with all the me to movements with black lives matter that women are really taking their their their place right alongside everybody else and it’s movement right no what’s your charge speaking of that for all of the rest of us who want to do some extra
I see it all the time my sister and I both agreed that you know you see a gap you feel the gap we get tired of people saying why are you know the congressman and all these people are doing this well if you see that something that needs to be done you need
And so that’s why we joined the I sororities because we saw that each one were doing was doing something in fact impactful so we said let’s join this group let’s network and let’s just be a part of the continuous movement what would like made me of course obviously we
Would drive to you because we like they got something so we have to ask but like y’all are kind of you’re similar in the way your dreams yes just that still happen in your adult life we try not to dress right but you know we live in the
Same household same brand new I mean she may walk out the house with like all black on and then I’d get up and get ready to leave and I’m wearing all black so it’s just yeah I know but ultimately like when we anything that we’re doing
People will not know who it is so when she’s on television people are asking me what to me when I’m on television her ask me was it her and so we just are similar in our goals in life to just our people so whether you recognize one of
Us or the other we’re out here service so that’s what you recognize don’t do anything bad because I don’t want to go to jail you keep serving community like you’re doing and then you know we’re gonna be on the straight and narrow because I’m too cute for jail thank you lady so much
