That is a the newest members who have been inducted into a certain chapter of a certain organization it is your first time see me I am a doubly also doubly member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated proud member I love my sorors I love my friend
But anywho moving on the point is once you become a member of whatever organization of the divine 9 that you decide to join there are going to be the reality and the expectations so before I even get into anything do not think I’m speaking for my whole sorority do not
Think these are thoughts of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated officially as a whole these are just my thoughts and how I have experienced and seen things over the past 10 years of my membership so with that said I’m gonna give you five tips that I really do we’ll think
Then I really think will help you as you enjoy that first year being a new member or until well your neo up until the next class comes in I was a neo for three years I got it in you know what I’m saying but this ain’t even about me this
About cha congratulations and let’s go oh okay let’s go at number one expectation number one folks want you to be a neck grin chapter to be grown serious and doing all that business a reality enjoy being a neo I ain’t gonna lie to you don’t sit up here and act
Like oh I came in grad I have to act this way I can’t do what I want to do if you want to strong stro you know what I’m saying if you want to be on the step team if you know there’s a step team whatever that’s open be on a step team
Like get it in enjoyed this time because you know what it goes by like that next thing you know you’ll be bringing in a lining we like what happened don’t be sitting up here being upset or you know mad because yours didn’t go the way there’s win and
You felt like you were rushed into doing whatever in joy your time you will only only only be anneal once number two everybody expects you to be so serious now okay that’s that’s the expectation you are serious because you’re this grown person in a graduate chapter which
Means you have a four year degree and you are in that chapter as a grown performing not performing what is the word I can’t even think of the word oh you are a operating adult you know what I’m saying you got your schedule down you have your permanent employment maybe
You have children maybe you have a spouse or partner you know what I’m saying and they’re like okay we expect you to be a certain way why I mean don’t get me wrong especially if somebody comes in young like I came in in my twenties and I was like yes I’m trying
To do whatever it is there is to do make sure you make the most of this experience I cannot express that enough people think because you’re in a graduate chapter you have to be so serious be you enjoy your time because I assure you you gonna look back and be
Like it was so quick and that is not something that you want to regret especially if you’re a person like me who couldn’t come into undergraduate chapter you had to wait until grad to come in and you came in and your 20s but you were still young and you you know I
Don’t say you wanted to do all the fun stuff and you got some grab members looking at you like I’m booboo you grown you need to let all that undergrad stuff go too bad you missed the boat blah blah blah get over it and I’m like okay I can
Understand that but that’s not what happened to you so if you’re in my situation you might want to enjoy some of those things you might want to do some of those things and I just hate when people act like you should be deprived of it if it’s there for you to
Do it do it now don’t get carried away and be doing some extra undergrad stuff stay thinking number three expectation number three is that most people that are in the chapter are older they’ve been in a chapter for a while they’re tired they’ve been working they just
Like look I need these new people to come in and work but the reality is you gonna be all happy and giddy you gonna be ready to work you know what I’m saying like most people are when they first come in because they want to know
What’s going on they want to figure out have things work and most of the time you’re not gonna be just jumping right in unless that’s just who you are like most Neos they you know they following a prose they watch them what’s going on they checking the scene they figuring
Out how this stuff work they not here just I’m gonna come in to chapter and I’m telling the president what they need to do nah boo boo be humble sit back be happy and enjoy your newness because when that work kick in BAE BAE Oh ciao I’m telling you when that work
Kick in you better be ready you better answer that call okay X spectator number five everyone is gonna be so happy to meet you yay we love you your new reality everybody don’t care I’m just gonna be real about it some old hands are like yay some new bodies whatever do some
Work I’m over it but you know what I’ll say you coming in all happy and stuff it everybody loves me no they don’t okay you are gonna have like if you kami and your your Dean or your membership intake the personnel was over your membership intake process that
Person you’re gonna be tight to you’re going to be tight to your life sisters or your line brothers with it whichever you may have you could have both who knows but the point is when you have those older members sometimes they are just like okay I’ve been here forever I
Don’t have the best attitude I’m not always happy don’t think that we aren’t gonna have ones who are the opposite who are like I’m so happy that you are here I’m so happy for you I want you to embrace everything about your organization you are gonna have that but
I don’t want you coming in thinking that all the old heads all your pros are gonna be just that giddy that’s just ain’t what it is and his last one is basically a tip in general for anybody who is new the expectation is you come into the chapter you figure
Out how it works and you move forward like that but in reality sometimes some people do come into the chapter thinking they know it all they hey get big don’t be one of those people don’t come into the chapter think of you know everything you didn’t changed now the sudden you
Didn’t got caught up in a Greek matrix that you’re just thinking you to bomb and really you just a person who just got some letters do not let those letters change you please don’t whether you come in and grad or undergrad do not let those letters change you if anything
It should just enhance who you are as especially part of your process should have enhanced who you are you should be networking you should know people more than people just in your organization if your only friends are your organization you’re doing yourself a disservice I want to welcome you into
