All right y’all former Christian debates that the Bible is just the fairy tale it’s not real it’s just stories it’s just made up you know I feel like a lot of people think that the Bible is just a bunch of stories like so many people do not trust the validity of the Bible
As being accurate historically but then you trust all these other you know historical documents you trust all these other you know figures in history that say you know that they were you know who they said that they were and you don’t ask any questions but the moment it involves God
Then it’s a problem because if the Bible is true then that forces you to make a decision whether you’re going to believe in it or not and a lot of people don’t want to confront that reality anyway let’s get into this video should be a very interesting video
Um I’ll link the original one down below as always I want to talk about the God the gospels what’s your name Rachel hey Rachel they’re not necessarily eyewitness accounts they’re written in the third person and the reason why we have the names Matthew Mark Luke and John is
Thanks to the Catholics putting those labels on there so I guess I don’t understand why you say they are eyewitness accounts why do I think they’re eyewitness accounts because they contain eyewitness data like for example the Gospel of John there are 59 eyewitness details in that in that document called The Gospel of
John that could only have been known by an eyewitness or somebody who knew an eyewitness okay is it possible that someone could have just been writing a story well then you’d have to Discount all the other evidence that this is doesn’t appear to be a story it appears to be a
Historical account because from the Bible right the Bible is writing about like Mark is the First Gospel that was written and probably some think Matthew may have been written first most Scholars say Mark was written first so we’ll go with the general consensus I guess and then they say maybe Matthew
And Luke used a lot of Mark that’s why there’s a lot of coinciding events and if you ever read the um gospels horizontally where you compare each Resurrection account there seems to be a lot of contradictions and it’s not just an eyewitness what would those contradictions
Well for example I think in Mark the ladies go to the tomb uh and Jesus isn’t there and an angel tells them to go tell the people that they don’t it just ends and then something else is added on about snakes and then Matthew real quick real quick real quick real quick real
Quick she makes a I mean that’s a good point look I think it’s okay to question things even as Christians I think it’s okay to question things you can have questions and you can have things that don’t make sense uh to you that you know you’re trying to work through
Um but I think it’s all in how you approach it and I think it’s it’s in the the posture that you are going at these contradictions quote unquote that you think that there are if that makes sense but in terms of like you know when the women go to the tomb
And when they find out that Jesus is not there just that alone speaks to so much truth in the writing because during that time period a woman’s word basically had very little to no credibility like if you said you heard something and the person asked you okay
Where did you hear that from and you said from a woman instantly you probably would be laughed out the room like they’re not they didn’t take women seriously from the from the standpoint of like you know truthful accounts or you know information that that is accurate so the fact that they wrote
That hey yeah the women were actually the ones that went to the tune and that that found out that Jesus was not there the fact that they actually included that signifies how much truth that there actually is in that statement because that could be considered so embarrassing
At that time point to actually admit that you know what I’m saying it would have been much easier to just say like oh yeah you know XYZ like you know Bob and John or whatever you know you know the men found them and the men found out he
Wasn’t there it would have been so much easier just to slide that in but the fact that they said specifically the women it’s like bro I don’t know that’s that’s just what came to my mind but let’s let’s let’s continue says there’s angels and earthquakes and everything at the resurrection and they
Tell her to go go tell them to go um tell the disciples and they do this time Luke rains it in a little bit and he says the stone was already rolled away and their angel is sitting on the tomb I don’t have this exactly correct but it’s
The gist and then John being the Beloved disciple made himself or whoever wrote it made himself get there first before Peter and I don’t know there’s just a lot of contradictions how are those contradictory I don’t see them contradictory I see them complementary because they’re written by different
People telling their perspectives on how are they contradicting how how did Luke miss the earthquakes and the angels if he doesn’t report an earthquake that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen it doesn’t mean it did no but it’s not a contradiction well like for example if somebody if
Somebody came into this uh some reporter came into this room tonight and said Frank Turk gave a presentation that would be true and if somebody else came into this room and said Frank Turek spoke and so did uh Dr Ben Gates that would be true as well that would be
Complementary that would not be contradictory right but those are ordinary um those are just ordinary circumstances ordinary things those are not hard to believe when something extraordinary happens like there’s angels and earthquakes and Stones rolling away and but they’re not contradictory you might say well I would I would hope this would
Be in here see here here’s one of the problems that I think some Skeptics have with the scriptures is they want to say that they’re too Divergent to have been true yet on the other hand if they were exactly the same they’d say well they were just copied from one another
The gospels have both exactly the same and different right because they are witnessing the same event so you’re going to have some overlap and then you’re going to have some differences let me give you a couple of examples of this do you know that when the Titanic went down some eyewitnesses said it
Broke into and other eyewitnesses said no it went down whole does that mean that we can’t trust the Titanic sink no that doesn’t that is not a miraculous occurrence leave Miracles out for a second is that a contradictory well it seems contradictory right well but what do they agree on that the
Titanic’s saying right exactly to tell about it right so every single gospel says there was a resurrection they may tell the story a little bit different way and have different details in there and even if there are contradictions that does not disprove the fact that there was a resurrection
Why would you why would you have a story but then you you’re giving this is what I feel like you are I haven’t heard evidence for your Resurrection okay wait one second one second but even if here’s the thing it’s written by humans humans are imperfect humans are imperfect but just like he
Said it all points to the resurrection and if everything was exactly like if all the gospels were exactly the same eyewitness account wouldn’t you be like yo this is kind of weird it’s almost like y’all got together and said okay this is what we’re gonna write and make sure all the
Details are good like y’all are like in court like testifying or something you know you know what I mean like if everything was to the T lined up perfectly again amongst all the Gospels then that would be kind of strange because humans we have a unique perspective and also we have a unique
Way of writing and we have a a unique way of experiencing life in general so of course there’s going to be different moments that people are going to point to as being more significant than other moments but ultimately all of those accounts lead to the resurrection something to think about
Assertions and appealing to emotion I haven’t seen any others what would you consider to be evidence other than eyewitness accounts eyewitness accounts are usually the most least reliable evidence so how do you know anything from the ancient world I don’t I have to use
Um I have to go by it’s the thing that makes the Bible unbelievable are the Miracles that are in it okay so you have a philosophical presupposition against Miracles then not necessarily I just don’t I don’t I guess I don’t know what that means but meaning you’re ruling out Miracles
Anything that has a miracle in it you want well you want to say the ancient world you want to probably I Caesar I can believe what I read about him because he doesn’t claim to do miraculous things see but see that’s that’s what I mean by philosophical bias
Okay you’re ruling out Miracles and to be honest with you you’re probably on the side of most Scholars most Scholars will say look it’s got the miraculous in it I can’t believe it the problem is the miraculous is possible because the first verse of the Bible
Appears to be true there appears to be a god um first verse of Genesis with your Christian eyes you’re not reading it in historical context but also the um what is it what has miraculous claims what do you think the proper interpretation of the first verse of Genesis means what
What is it I don’t know but I’m not I you’re I can tell that you’re reading it with your Christian lens It also says it was the beginning right that God created the heavens and the Earth well I mean technically you there was it a beginning or was the
Universe just in a different state was it just in a different form well it says there was a beginning the Bible does yes and science the scientists currently The Sciences including Einstein is saying that the Universe had a beginning through a theory of General this current state of the universe had a beginning
The universe can’t be Eternal otherwise today never would have gotten here that’s gibberish I don’t even know it I don’t know what you’re saying when you say that let me Rachel let me just give you let me ask you a question if Christianity were true would you be a
Christian if the Holy Spirit convicted me and brought me to it I probably would have no choice oh no you always have a choice not if I was led by the Holy Spirit oh you can resist the Holy Spirit a lot of people do
If I gave you a book would you read it my mom I think is going to buy it but that wasn’t my question Rachel if I gave it to you would you read it I could read it and I could do a YouTube response I guess you really sound open you know
Rachel think about this if God exists if he does and if the story of Jesus is true isn’t that the greatest news in history oh not for those going to hell nobody has to go that’s the whole point both are not convinced what they’re reading
In the Bible is true I said if it was true isn’t it great news I guess yeah that’s the interesting interaction you know what’s interesting she said that she used to be a Christian right and clearly she has read the Bible um and knows quite a bit about you know
The scriptures and you know what it says but like I said you got to be careful because it’s okay to have questions it’s okay to have doubts even it’s okay to have doubts it’s okay to have questions it’s okay to admit when something doesn’t make sense when it comes to studying the Bible
But you got to be careful because all that knowledge that you have of the scriptures if you’re not reading it with the help of the Holy Spirit and asking him for guidance you could easily take that knowledge and turn it and use it for evil and use it to divide the church
And use it to plant seeds of Doubt within other believers specifically believers who may not be as strong in their faith so it it’s a fine line like you got to recognize when it’s it’s it’s a healthy skepticism because I think there could be a level of like healthy skepticism to
Where it doesn’t make sense to me in this moment but I’m not going to use this as the basis to deconstruct my faith I’m going to use this as the basis to go deeper in my study and figure it out because I know there’s an answer
I just haven’t figured it out at this point in time I think you can go in one of two directions or you could just completely deconstruct everything which is what a lot of people do and what’s dangerous is if those individuals end up in your church or if
They end up in your small group not to say that you couldn’t potentially turn them back around and bring them out of that and bring them back to Christ but depending on the dynamic of your church or your your small group or even your friend group that person could plant enough seeds of
Doubts that could lead others to fall away you know um I’m not saying it’s something to necessarily be worried about but just pay attention you know if you have people who are struggling with quote unquote contradictions or struggling with doubt friends family people in your church in your small group like I said
Um just keep an eye on it and pray for those individuals and help them work through it as a human sometimes we like to just shove the Bible down their throat but there are points in times where you have to just help people work through these challenges as a human
And be like yo to be honest it doesn’t make sense but guess what the Bible says that God is the same yesterday today and forever and we just have to trust that his ways are higher than our ways and and his thoughts are higher than our thoughts there’s going
To be things that we are just not going to understand right now but that doesn’t mean that we’re never going to get it at some point hopefully that makes sense um what do y’all think about the video let me know in the comments I’m out y’all
