So yeah whatever but anyways um you guys today we are going to be talking about little tips that i want to give you guys the title of the video is going to be watch this before joining aka so unfortunately i am only speaking um in regards to my organization but i am
Not speaking on behalf of the organization um i’m not speaking for alpha kappa alpha sorority incorporated deja washington is not speaking for alpha kappa alpha sorority incorporated okay honey um i’m just giving some advice because i had a young lady who is interested in joining aftercap after already incorporated
And she wanted me to give her the nitty-gritty of things that she should know before joining this particular organization so i apologize if you’re already in another organization or if you are interested in um another organization other than alpha kappa alpha already incorporated but i wanted to particularly talk about
This because i feel like it’s so important um because a lot of my viewers are either young ladies who are in aka or are interested in aka and then obviously i get other people who are interested in other organizations but obviously i’m speaking to the young ladies who are interested in my organization
So um yeah without further ado just give this video a thumbs up your girl is i think i’m back i think i’m back and ready i don’t want to say i am and then you know go back into a little hole or whatever but i have been getting better i have been
Just focusing on myself and really just coming into tune with who i am and making sure that i’m doing the best thing for me mentally and physically and emotionally um you know so that i’m healthy all around okay but without further ado let’s just hop right into it don’t forget to like
Comment subscribe let’s get started okay okay you guys so i’m going to be just giving you guys the nitty gritty like we all know it’s pettiness in every organization but child it is going to be some pettiness in this organization okay you have older women you have younger women you have neos you
Have profiles you have all different type of ages colors sizes of women in this illustrious organization and a lot of them are not all nice um and that’s okay that is okay uh when i was first joining out aka i was definitely i definitely had a bad taste
In my mouth for a long time for aka because i couldn’t separate the fact that what went on in this particular chapter with these particular women is separate from the entire organization and chapters this way in that way and whatever you know what i’m saying um but i didn’t understand that the
Chapter or that the organization was bigger than that one chapter it took me a long time but one tip that i could possibly give somebody is understanding the value and understanding the concept of aka is bigger than just this one situation aka is bigger than just this one person or these couple people
Or this chapter is just a crumb of what the entire organization is um i come into contact with rude and nasty akas all the time but i don’t let that interfere with who i am and the aka that i’m trying to be and portray to the world you know i’m
Saying the woman that i show you guys on these videos another thing is before joining aka understand that the value of hard work and service to all mankind is a real thing like you literally you literally will work your butt off if you’re in a chapter that is very active with every single
Um program that they offer every single target that they focus on if you have a chapter that really is focused on those things and you you know you you’re involved in committees you’re involved in different programs you’re working on each target you’re going to have a you’re going to
Have to do a lot of work you know i’m saying you’re going to come across a chapter that is like no we don’t lollygag we we hear words you know what i’m saying and unfortunately it’s a lot of online stuff going on and virtual stuff so you don’t really get the concept that
You don’t really get the the full feeling of what it means to go to a meeting what it means to attend different events and hold elections and et cetera et cetera you don’t understand what that means quite yet but trust me you will win the world open back back up fully um
So yeah because like my grad chapter that i’m in i’m in kyo make omega we still have chapter meetings virtual you know like virtually you know so it’s unfortunate just because i didn’t start out that way and it kind of sucks but i know in the long run the work is getting done
I’m doing what i need to do it’s going to be events that you have to attend and you have to put in the work aka is definitely about putting in the work it’s women who brag about oh i’ve been financial for x amount of years i’ve been
Putting in the work for x amount of years you can’t just step foot into or step head first into an organization specifically aka and think that you’re just gonna you know skate right through or everything is gonna be good no you’re gonna have to work because if you
Don’t somebody gonna call you out on it honestly you know and you have to be willing to understand that a lot of times when people call you out on stuff they it’s because they love you and they don’t want you to be the odd man out you
Know it’s a sisterhood it’s a unit um i recently was able to go to an event and i had a sore girl pull me to the side i was like hey i have another jacket for you let’s go put on this other jacket like you have servers that
Are coming to you and be like hey your hair is messed up i got a flat iron let’s go do this um it’s really a sisterhood when you find those people you know what i’m saying it’s really a great place to be and a great environment to be in when
You have those right people like i talk to my mentor all the time she’s an aka and she literally tell me all the time like no like no you don’t need to do this you need to do this like and you are you are you will have those people that love you
And care about you and when they correct you and give you constructive criticism it’s coming from the heart then you’ll have those other people that’ll be like trying to give you constructive criticism but then you know they they ain’t doing what they need to be doing
But you know they’re trying to be petty when they do it you can also take that with a grain of salt as well i feel like a lot of times when when just being in aka you have to bite your tongue a lot but it just shows you about
How to be the bigger person you know what i’m saying like i feel like the most thing that i have gained out of aka is being the bigger person and understanding that everything does not need a response this is something that i hold so dear and near to my heart because
It has made me so less stressed like joining this organization you guys i was so stressed um because i just thought i had to respond to everything anybody’s gonna talk to me like this no you can’t have that mindset you have to really just think like
If i respond this is probably gonna make the situation bigger than what it is so let me just not even worry about it let me just take what they said take with a grain of salt keep it pushing like i get dms on a daily you guys of girls come at me crazy
Like when i went to vegas you guys i went to vegas for my birthday i was turned 24 on april 7th and literally you guys these girls have reached out to me they dm me on instagram when they saw that i was in vegas now i didn’t go to
Anybody’s yard or anything like that and go to anybody’s campus because i’m in vegas i want to turn up i want to be lit i want to enjoy my you know my my 24th birthday um and the girl had reached out to me and she was just like i know you a
Famous aka whatever but when you step into my city you talk to us you greet us and it took me everything in my body to be like [ __ ] girl who the [ __ ] is you talking to who you talking to oh i’m sorry for who girl what i don’t play with me it took
Me everything my body to be like don’t but i literally had to be like i’ma see it and don’t see and keep a push i need to respond to homegirl because the simple fact that you think i’m famous is your problem right there because i ain’t famous [ __ ] okay i ain’t finished
But honestly y’all like it comes with so much to be an aka um understanding that not only are you stepping into a sisterhood but you’re stepping into a ram of women who have similar goals that they want to accomplish i don’t like to say like-minded women because i don’t feel like
I don’t feel like everybody has a set have the same mindset and they they are after the same thing but ultimately i do feel like everybody that’s in aka it’s in it to further themselves to further the organization and to help grow them into a woman that
Aka would be proud of if aka was an actual person or guys um have to understand that it’s not going to be easy joining aka it’s not easy being an ak um people will you know say rude things say mean things about oh this person’s paper this person this person is made blah
Blah blah like all these different things because ultimately like it comes you you ha it comes a lot comes with being an ak um you get haters off rip i just don’t want you guys to be scared to not go after her but i don’t want you to join for the wrong reasons
Or i don’t want you to join thinking that it’s just going to be a breeze or walk in the park it’s not it’s not because whether you you went through something to join or you sign on that dotted line to join ultimately it doesn’t matter how you joined it matters what you do
When you get those letters and i feel like everybody fails to realize that like i get daily messages on a daily you guys a daily mama i get daily messages from people saying hey daisy i have a broken line i have a broken line like it’s
It’s two girls on my line right now that’s that’s paper and the rest of us is made you know like you guys just have to be understanding and know that it doesn’t matter it doesn’t matter this whole concept does not matter it matters what you do when you’re in the organization
It matters what you do with your letters on with your letters off you know like it matters who you are as a person because ultimately who you are as a person is going to speak volumes to who who you are and when people address you as oh so-and-so the aka
Because you’re never just going to be deja you know you’re never just gonna be amanda you’re never gonna be ashley or talia or or uh jessica you’re never gonna be just you you’re gonna be you plus your organization plus aka and i feel like a lot of people get into this
Organization and they think like oh yeah like i’m an aka let me take some pictures let me wear my parry let me do this but what are you doing work wise so it comes with a lot of hard work so understand that um but yeah you guys i i don’t
I mean i feel like it’s an amazing place to be obviously aka has done wonders for me i feel like ultimately if you’re worried about finding your people or not being close with certain people in your organization understand that it’s not just your your chapter
It’s so much bigger you know and i had to learn that so if i had to learn i’m pretty sure y’all have to learn it but if you grasp the idea and that concept before anything and understand that it’s all mental you will go a long way within the organization honestly
For real um so yeah definitely do your research obviously reach out show interest but don’t do too much because if it’s meant for you it’s meant for you and it’s gonna happen okay so i hope you guys enjoyed the video comment down below if you have any other
