So today is the official unveiling ceremony for the Wright State University National Pan-Hellenic Plot Project. We are excited to have so many alumni and current members of NPHC organizations come out and celebrate the official unveiling of the plots. This has been a long time coming and
We are proud to announce the the plots official opening today. And I can’t say enough about how grateful we all are for the outpouring of support from everyone. The Divine 9 is a is an organization of nine historically black fraternities and sororities that arose during
The time when African Americans were allowed to attend college but they weren’t allowed to do much at college they weren’t allowed to join student organizations they weren’t allowed to get involved on campus so they decided to make their own organizations where they could create spaces for
Each other and network and have a safe space where they could thrive. And it’s very very special because our students and alum designed it. A lot of people will react to this because not a lot of schools have plots on campus Wright State being one of the first predominantly white institutions
To get it it means a lot and it’s very important in our history at Wright State University. These students know that they have a home and a place at Wright State that they’re valued that the work that they do community service and on campus
Is important and seen. There’s a designated space on campus where students can come back and celebrate and have a space that’s dedicated and that’s their own. This space is meant to memorialize that history and provide people a place that they can celebrate and enjoy their
Time on campus. This is very emotional while also being very exciting as well these plots have been in the making for over 10 years and just to see the hard work and dedication come to life it means
A lot to me. It means a lot to students on campus it took a lot of pushing it took a lot of fight but we were able to get it done and i’m so proud of the end result and what we have here today.
