Hey guys welcome back to the channel welcome back to the video it is deja and i am back with another video honey what’s good was popping for those of you who are new here hi i’m deja so today you guys we are going to be getting ready and answering some greek life questions
That you guys asked me on my instagram um i asked you guys to you know give me some questions that you guys have and that is what we’re gonna be talking about today okay so i’m gonna try to get ready i’m gonna try to multitask
Because i do have to be somewhere but i wanted to film a video so i will be getting you giving you guys a greek video for the rest of this month um so i think we have six days left so without further ado let’s just hop right into this video honey okay okay
Guys so starting off we are going to be answering a question from a young lady who basically said can you be attending a community college on track to transfer to a four year and be interested yes you can be interested and not even be in college
Um so you as far as like i think she means like maybe can you show your interest and be at a community college yes you can so say if like i planned on going to um i don’t know say if i plan on going
To an hbcu of some sort and it was a community college close by that i was already attending for say my gen eds i can you know make sure i mean if i want to in that moment i can express interest and i can basically say like
Hey so you know say if you if it’s close by because i know like many community college so say of like how can i put this okay for example my old alma mater um it was a community college i believe it was called lincoln lincoln college if i’m not mistaken um
That was like literally right next to um right next to university of illinois springfield right because that is the school that i graduated from and crosstalk and say if i went there for my gen eds for the first two years or however long it takes to get your gen eds um
So if i went there for the first two years and i knew you know some of the girls that were aks at uis um prior to me transferring because i went to their events because a lot of times the events that were on or held at uis students from
Um lincoln college could actually come i don’t i don’t know if it’s called lincoln college it’s a community college next to uis you guys i’m not sure of the name i want to i really want to say it’s lincoln college because everybody down there is like obsessed with
You know i mean it is a capital but anyways um yeah so i want to say if i was in that position i would show my interest um i personally would make sure that you are on track to you know receiving your gen eds and being able to
Transfer because a lot of times students will you know go to community college and a lot of their classes are not transferable if that makes sense so you want to make sure that before you express your interest you are on track to being accepted to the universe that you want to transfer to
And you are doing well in your classes so that you can transfer with a good gpa and also you can transfer all your credits and not you know struggle essentially so that’s that question um so yes you can do that i don’t always recommend it just because you never know
Second question i got was do getting to know members of a chapter um that isn’t too active or sociable um i guess she means like how do you do that um i would say to make yourself seen and be careful when you do this because when you make yourself seen
Just know that you are seen okay um you want to make sure that you are you know speaking to the members you’re showing your interests you’re showing your face you’re basically letting them know like hey i am here hello how are you um and you want to make sure that they
Know that you’re interested as far as members who are not as sociable as you or who just may not be as active on campus definitely just let them know like you know for whatever events they do have like ask open-ended questions to get them talking or ask um
Questions about themselves to get them talking because like i said in many of my videos people love talking about themselves um unless they’re like really really really you know humble when they don’t really like to talk about themselves which is also a good thing as well
But nine times out of ten all the people that i’ve met ever in my life loves talking about their journey talking about themselves they love talking about just them so it is um very important especially if you get that member that loves talking about their organization
That’s a good good member um so i would definitely try you know my hardest to try to reach out to those members and just make yourself known to talk to them and be aware that as you’re making yourself known you are being seen by everybody um even if you’re talking
To one person i remember me joining aka like when i was just entertaining and mainly you know hanging out with the president at the time i was not only being seen to her i was being seen to other members in the organization and talked about by other members of the organization because
When you talk to one member or when you talk to a specific person just know that it’s getting back to her line sisters um essentially so or it’s getting back to you know the chapter and that’s not to say that it’s a bad thing but you know i mean
They gonna find out one way or another so you might as well be happy that it finds out from you know a member because then that way a member would basically be telling them like hey this person is interested they should express their interest to me but also
It’s so many aspects to this you don’t want to get carried away and you don’t want to essentially only talk to one member you don’t want to make yourself only available to one member because there’s multiple members in an organization you need multiple people to vote for you to grant you membership sorry
My god you hear my dog barking you guys but yeah so make sure that you are just expressing your interest you’re speaking to people and you’re trying your hardest to come in mama but just make sure that you’re expressing your interest and that you’re doing everything that you need to do
To let them know like hey i’m interested or hey i want you to notice me so that when you do when it comes down to you know joining or whatever the case may be you know that i’m here you know that hey remember me i was the
Person that was talking to you i was the person that was showing my interest i was a person that was at all of your events i’m here hi hello don’t forget me um type of thing okay so definitely making sure that you’re just trying to reach out to these members who are not
As social or even if it’s an entire chapter who don’t really show face that much on campus trying to make sure that you attend whatever events they do have so that you don’t be missing your beat because that will literally sting that will suck that you know you didn’t attend the events
And some chapters do this some chapters don’t even have like a lot of events throughout the year it’s only a couple and then they’re silent or you know they their casper for the rest of the year and then they all of a sudden have a line sometimes you know those are the
Chapters that already scouted those people or whatever the case may be but you just never want to miss out on things so if you can’t attend the event you’re just being lazy you don’t want to go then you don’t want you don’t want to be in that organization um you feel me so
That’s that another one is how to write an interest letter for a sorority um you’re interested in joining okay so i say this all the time i can only speak for aka well let me not say that because a lot of people get offended when i say stuff like
That i can only speak for myself when um when it comes to writing an interest letter um i actually would love to read my entries letter to you guys i don’t know if that i mean i’m already in my organization um so i would love to do that you guys
An idea of how to formulate your entrance letter now for me my chapter when i was joining i did not have questions to answer it was no questions that we had to answer um they gave us like general questions but it wasn’t like these specific questions have to be in this
Um interest letter or whatever so with that being said i um the basic questions that they you know asked us was like why do you want to be in this organization what can you bring to the organization tell me about yourself that was the main thing that i talked about
In my interest letter um basically talking about who am i so basically talking about who am i what can i bring to this organization and why i would be the best picked for this organization why do i want to be in this organization that’s essentially what an interest letter
Is most chapters most organizations want you to answer specific questions i even saw it as um to go as far as like girls having to basically share history share what you know about the organization and the interest letter so that um i personally don’t understand why people would do that just because
It’s like you want them to be discreet and you want them to learn about the organization but you’re asking them questions to pre-learn about the organization which is fine do your research but it’s kind of um i guess like hypocritical in a sense i want to say
But you know who am i um so yeah so that’s basically how i feel about it um but an interest letter essentially for when people who are trying to join what you want to write um you basically want to talk about yourself you want to share information about who you are as a
Person where you where you’re going your aspirations your goals why you want to be a member and what you can bring essentially to this organization um i tell girls all the time if they don’t ask you questions about the history of the organization don’t tell them um i’ve seen so many
Girls who have reached out to me and shared um you know like their interest letters with me and want me to give them feedback and they ask me like hey danger could you read this and i’ve read so many interest letters of girls saying alpha kappa alpha was
Founded on this day or delta sigma theta was founded on this date or zeta phi beta was founded on this day and these women and this telling the history of these organizations we don’t need to know that you know as members we already know our history we already know about our
Organization we don’t need you to tell us that in our letter or in your letter of interest we want you to tell us about you and tell us about why you want to join our illustrious organizations we don’t need to hear that it’s illustrious because we already know
You know what i’m saying so you just want to make sure that you are giving as much information about yourself and your qualifications on joining our organizations next question is ronan numbers going down with ronald numbers going down back on campus by next semester will there be lines
Um that’s really hard to say honestly i feel like um it’s all based on that organization it’s all based on that organization a lot of people say it’s based on that chapter on that what that chapter want to do no chapters have no say on whether it’s
Going to be lines whether it’s going to be intake whether it’s going to be anything of that nature unless the organization themselves tells schools hey we are gonna do this we are gonna do that um so yeah and i feel like a lot of people got misled
And confused by my video that i posted um about the letter that the young lady has sent me and it went as far as me getting a cease and desist letter in the not in the mail but in my email from a law attorney basically saying that i was unauthorized to communicate on
Um this sororities information and my sororities information and it was just so crazy because i was just like nowhere in my video did i say nowhere in my video did i say that this is what my organization is doing i was answering a question but people are so misled by the title
That they don’t understand um they don’t understand what i’m saying so if you guys want to know more about that i will be considering talking about that letter um that i got in my email maybe in december for greek myths it’s too soon to talk about it now i
Personally don’t know the legal um i’m not being sued but i don’t know the legal um formality of talking about a cease and desist letter i’m not quite sure on if i can um and i don’t know so yeah but i feel like even with that like
A lot of people were so confused and where a lot of people were trying to attack me and come for me and basically say like you clearly are not active or you don’t know what you’re talking about because of this or because of that and it was just like
You didn’t watch my video you saw the title and ran with it so yeah that sucks but you know it is what it is i’m not gonna stop making my videos but a lot of people think that because rona has calmed down that they’re gonna be lines
A lot of people don’t a lot of people are still seeing cases of corona around and um a lot of people feel like hey uh we’re not gonna have a line or we might have to do it this way or we might not have to do it at
All so it’s up in the air um honestly i would check in with each individual’s organization’s website to make sure that um the proper information and education that needs to be seen to the public will be seen to the public on the nationals website for each individual organization
So definitely check it out on the individual’s organization or if you’re close with somebody who can share you with you some information definitely check that out um but i’m not sure i don’t really know and i don’t want to speak too much on it because people like to flip what i say
Um and yeah but i will never be silent so don’t think that i am being silenced you guys i will never silence myself i know my rights and yes so next question is how should i show interest if everyone in the chapter i want to join is graduating this spring
Um well i would girl you gotta talk to them shoot you gotta you gotta let them know like hey what’s going on like how you doing are we what’s going on you know what i’m saying my name is this blah blah if they have
Events you need to pop up pop up um i personally don’t feel like the organization would let that chapter die on that campus regardless of whatever campus you’re on it they won’t let it die so they will most likely have a line it might be unfortunately already girls but they’re
Probably scouted already or they might actually want to give people a chance that they don’t really know but long story short i don’t feel like they will you know not have um a line because then that chapter would die and nobody wants their chapter to die um so yeah that’s why i say
We need the members so when members say oh we don’t need you they’re lying because if they don’t have people then the chapter will not exist you know what i’m saying you need the people you need the money essentially our organizations our businesses so it’s not just the social aspect is it it
Is an entire business these organizations so we definitely need people okay okay um so yes you guys i don’t want to get this video too long i do have some more questions but i’m gonna be doing a part two so you’ll see that part two tomorrow i hope you guys enjoyed this video
