Prior to joining or actually being Greek I I didn’t have too much knowledge about it I knew there was a lot of work behind it as far as like life in general I knew that it was a lot of community service state versus you just social base I was
Actually told that uh they were actually uh you know some of the devil’s works by my dad I had a little bit of knowledge I was like returning to my Greek life in general my pirate knowledge was fairly limited my family is kind of family that
If you want to know something they just say go look it up so I knew a little background about Delta I have some family members that are members of Delta Sigma Theta and my roommate happened to become a member of Delta Sigma Theta as well so I did a lot
Of research and background about the organization and that’s what made me one inch from the gun I had some family members who are Greek so there we have family reunions and things like that I just kind of did a lot of research on my own just just to see what life was all
About because at first glance it’s probably just people stomping out like LA and making noises for what things like you know this is the MPAC week we really have to square our communities we really have to go out there and make a difference because if we don’t who will
So we’re gonna have a great time today the level of dedication that you need for your organization or any organizations in general there are going to be time that you really need to sacrifice dedication is something that members that are already in the organization look for for when they are
Going to so selection process of new members you really do need to dedicate yourself someone academics but to serve in your community through your organization if you don’t have the heart for it then it’s really not for you you put a lot of work into it you put a lot
Of effort into it and a lot of time so it takes great dedication to be in these organizations to strive them to work hard within them you you have to have Drive you have to have the will to not just be a letter where you you have to
Want to do things in the name of your organization that are going to move it along and to move it forward I’m cooking Greek life has given back a lot to I think anybody who is using Greek life for what it’s initially meant to be used for once you become a part
You you’re a part of something that’s greater than yourself and a lot of times people don’t realize that you’re a part of a huge initiative that was in the works way before you were even thought of Alpha Kappa Alpha helped me like showcase some of the things that are
Already inside help me show them through the programs my networking is just it’s grown so much that’s one of the perks I would say and be one of the organizations networking you have a sister or you have a brother anywhere you go it’s just amazing how you know
You meet random people and you don’t even know they don’t know you but you know once they both must both have that Kappa connection I return these connections it’s an instant you know it’s instantly something that you guys have a bond together with I’ve never had
Sisters so it’s given me a bigger family than I ever thought that I would have grabbed brothers or sisters cousin so it’s always someone to lean on always someone to talk to always someone to be around other people who don’t know Cengiz like that who are interested I would once
Ellen to really really do the research they understand what the organization is about understand that it’s not about strolling and stepping there’s way more to our relation in what we do and what they actually see so like their president or go to some of their events tell them that you’re interested in
Going you know like what can I know more about it that’s not necessarily saying you want to automatically join if you want to know more information about the organization other than what the websites did you do the research on the organization just not just that organization all organizations traditional
Non-traditional get that knowledge that you would need in order to be an active member in that organization talk to someone who is Greek get to know exactly what it is that they do what they’re about don’t just look for the partying or any type of extracurricular activities but look before exactly what
The fraternity or sorority stands for you want to be able to know what you’re doing when you get into the organization and not only know what you’re doing you want to make sure that it’s right for you I do believe that Greek life is not
Always for everyone and in it and it can be for some people and my advice to people who are on the outside looking in is is to never look at the chapter as a representative of the whole the organization is much bigger than any one chapter any one chapter can be
Eliminated and the organization will feel flourish so find what sticks out to you and and to also know if you do not fit in an organization it’s okay if it’s okay don’t don’t think that the organization you being a part of the fraternity or sorority is going to define you in some
Type of the way it just becomes another aspect of you it does not become
