– Spiritual brotherhood is very important. And in fact, I would say, having companionship as we walk the life of faith is important, and God designed it that way. – The goal of the breakfast really is to draw men back to the faith in a way that is welcoming. It’s an opportunity for men really to come together in prayer and fellowship. – We meet at 5:45 in the morning. We start every morning with prayer.
We’re able to have those rich, deep discussions with fellow individuals about how Christ has formed our lives. – Men today need a refuge. So we need these entry points where men can be men. Where they can kind of share the wisdom that they’ve inherited over the years, and just really grow in brotherhood. – It’s men getting together and sharing how to raise our families,
Sharing our ideas that we’re not alone and working things out, working out our problems, our concerns through our faith. – The name “Regular Joes” really signifies that we’re just regular guys. There’s nothing extraordinary about us. We’re guys that struggle with our faith, that have problems in our lives,
And yet we can come together and carry one another. That’s part of the spirit of our faith. – On Saturday mornings, we come here at 6:30 in the morning. We read over the Gospel reading for Sunday mass. We play basketball for an hour and a half, and then we end in prayer. So it’s just a beautiful thing in that it’s something that
Kind of grew from the Regular Joes men’s prayer breakfast. – COVID presented some challenges to us at the men’s prayer breakfast. And so we decided we’d use Zoom. And we’re really blessed by the fact that a good number of our guys were joining us virtually as they try to walk through the travails of COVID.
– Father McGivney reached into the margins of society. He looked for those people who were struggling. This prayer breakfast is doing the same thing. There are so many men who are struggling in our society today. We need to reach out to them. – It really pairs perfectly with the mission
Of the Knights of Columbus to have a men’s prayer group, because these guys are getting together to help each other to grow in their faith. As men, as fathers. – To win the Faith Award is beyond our expectations. The local guys that we’ve impacted, it’s made a difference in their life. That’s where I think it truly is a faith award. – To have the Knights of Columbus recognize what we’ve been doing in our small, little town of Monroe
Is just an incredible thing. And I would say that only God could make something like that happen from, quite frankly, such imperfect instruments.
