Hey y’all my name is Shaliah Thierry for those of you who are coming across this video and don’t know me personally but I’m here to denounce my affiliation with Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority Incorporated um I did not see this coming ever uh I joined the organization in the fall of 2011
At the University of Tulsa and I’m in Tulsa Oklahoma uh where I’m from and I have given everything I have to this organization ever since um so many of you are going to be asking like why right um and the why is simple
Out of obedience to God out of love for Jesus Christ this this literally all it is like that’s why um I I grew up in the church um but I my childhood was pretty Rocky so I’ve experienced a lot um but I grew up
Church of Christ um but I’ve also experienced the Catholic Church Catholic Mass with my Mema and a non-denominational but low-key Pentecostal Church um but I was out in these streets for a while so um and because of my Rocky childhood um there was always something in me that
Needed validation from the world um and wanted the approval of the world and what better approval was there than the greatest sorority uh known to man um it was the first the finest oh sorry I was just thinking about all the all the things he called it just just um the
Ways in which I put this organization before God and before everything else in my life and and and I want y’all to understand anyone who watches this video any of my former sorority sisters um and all the many amazing women that I met gotten to know and love through
Being a part of this organization I want y’all to know that God led me out of this organization because I put it before him the greatest commandment Matthew 22 37 says to um wait I lost it that quick okay Jesus said to him this is the new King James version
Um Jesus said to him you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart with all your soul and with all your mind this is the first and greatest commandment so I was pledging my heart my mind and my strength to this organization at every single
Meeting and every single conference I ever attended I was seeing Praises singing hymns and him by definition is praises to God I was singing praises worshiping this organization and every single meeting in every single conference I was paying all my money like
Lots of money hundreds and hundreds of dollars thousands of dollars really over time um to this organization for at every single meeting for every single conference for everything I gave it ever it was everything to me y’all it was my license plate it’s all the paraphernalia that’s in my
House jewelry time and status I brought people into this organization and and made them feel like they owed me something because I was somebody in this organization and the whole point is that the blessings that have come my way into my life are from God and God Alone not
From this organization I was somebody before the organization and I’m somebody without it um but the whole point is that the whole why behind why I’m doing this is because of the Ten Commandments the first one is to um have no other gods before me and I made Alpha
Kappa out for my God um the symbols that bring it to mind from a building number to Colors um pink was always my favorite color growing up you know but I Associated it even that with this organization but anyway so um I there’s no prescribed process for denouncing um so usually
Once an AKA always an AKA um to the point that if I were to die tomorrow there would be a ritual performed at my funeral well this was uh before I wrote this letter I wrote a letter to the executive director director of membership the international president my regional director
My chapter president and the president of the chapter where I crossed or joined or was initiated um to let them know that um I would like my membership to be revoked and I hope that they
Honor that because I don’t want any rituals sorry my phone is of course not wanting to look at the enemy I already drama anyway so um I don’t want any rituals performed at my funeral I don’t want
This Spirit of idolatry to be passed on to anyone else um and I’ve confessed my sins to my God to my Jesus about how I put this before him how I I all all money that I’ve earned um belongs to God
And all he’s asked is that we give uh 10 of the first fruits of our income back to him and I couldn’t even do that but I’m willing to pay hundreds of dollars in dues every year um spend hundreds of dollars talking 500 for boulee registration um hundreds of dollars for um
Regional Conference registration and uh because I was on the board a lot of that a lot of times that that stuff got waived for me but it’s not waived for anyone else um and so I’m just thinking about
Just about the many women that I know and love that have given their lives to this organization and and I feel so guilty um to God for how I put this before him for so long it was my everything
So this is when you ask why this is out of obedience and love for God because I love God more than I love this world more than I love the the women that are about to be mad at me
More than the people that are could be angry be behind this but especially because of the people that are going to come to me asking me questions about this and wondering how they can do the same um because he’s called us to repentance and I Repent my sin putting putting this first
Before everything before before the call to go go you therefore and make disciples I’m more interested in in saving people um and in reconciling God’s children back to him than I am per touting myself putting on these colors and going to parties and dressing up and and being full of myself
For for what for nothing but personal gain I’m not here for that anymore so um I sent my letter a couple weeks ago um and now I’m making it public just like I did when I was initiated
And all of the hooping and hoopla that I did you know to Showcase my joining this organization I want to put the same message out there that I’m walking away out of obedience and my love for
Jesus Christ and nothing else no one did anything to me no one hurt me I um yeah like if for those of you who are asking like did I pledge or was I part of some underground process to a degree yes
Um but I was elected to the board of directors just after being initiated I was the international second vice president from July of 2012 to July of 2014. I also was on many International committees
After that um and for the first time in 2000 is 22. when um our latest interview when the the latest International president was installed for the first time ever I wasn’t asked to be a part of the administration and I felt such relief because then I could be involved in Ministry and be
Involved in my church and be involved in bringing young people back to Christ um because young people don’t have a voice in um in this sorority in many of the divine nine Greek organizations and
By Young I mean anybody under the age of 45 you know your voice is not heard but God hears you and um my pastor showed me that my pastor showed me that young people are able to make a change and able to change older people able to change younger people
And able to be the generation to rise up the remnant you know um so um I was elected to our to to the board of directors of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority Incorporated uh was the international second vice president that’s the third highest ranking officer internationally and the highest ranking undergraduate so
I have seen a lot that’s above board that’s not part of an underground process that is that is idolatry that is giving this organization power over everything from our rituals from the rituals to I keep saying our from the rituals to the hymns that are sung to just the exclusivity of
It all it’s a privilege not to write all these things salvation is for everybody okay and how you treat one another is important to God so continuing with Matthew 22 verse 39 he says after in verse 38 where he says this is the first and greatest commandment
He says in verse 39 and the second is like it you shall love your neighbor as yourself and the and part of the hymns that are sung to Alpha biopsy we help each other but that is not true in in practice a lot of what I’ve seen done is for self-interest it’s self-gratification
Not For the Love of one another anytime I ran for office or was in office or served as part of the organization it was to help each other it was to help um the organization to be run better for the sake of the women involved
It wasn’t so great at feeding the homeless and and the community service but it’s a social club the IRS classifies it as a social club so it is a sorority is a gathering of women for the betterment of each other um and we couldn’t even get
That right so that was part of what opened my eyes to to the sin that I was committing by um by idolatry and putting this before anything else so you know I’ve already talked a lot longer
Than I intended to y’all so I’m just gonna wrap it up by saying I I still love every single one of you who are a member of this organization and um I’m going to turn off the comments of these posts
