So Evelyn just found out this morning that she is now a Gamma Phi. We are thrilled that she got the house of her choice and the house chose her. There’s nothing like knowing where your heart is and where she’s going to be headed. My favorite day as an alumni is Bid Day.
It’s my favorite day. And I love to see all the women super excited to open their bid cards. One of the things that I learned when I was getting recruited into Omega Delta Phi Fraternity Inc. was that when you join, it’s it’s a lifetime commitment. For me,
It was more like a kind of keeping that connection going on and keeping that mentorship going on. You continue to mentor students. Even then, even though I was gone for a bit, the students still reach out to you. They still recognize who you are and they still ask you for advice.
You know, my parents were really cool about it. They did come visit every month. They bought a little van so they could come back and forth from Portland to visit. I remember it so clearly. They left. I was like, Oh my gosh, I’m all about myself. But I had all these sorority sisters
And it was just wonderful. Was – the Greek life is amazing. It really felt like home. It just was an amazing experience. The person that had the greatest impact was an alumni that was pretty active when I first joined the house. I think that’s something really important for for young men
Who are just experiencing the world to kind of have somebody to look up, to have somebody that they can call if they need anything or just have somebody like be there for you. So living here in Moscow now, I strive to be that person for the new members coming into my fraternity.
To my future self. Breathe in every moment. Become the Vandal that you were meant to be. I think that there’s a lot of opportunity to develop yourself in in Greek life. Just being able to get out of your comfort zone and experience life through the college, and the University, and your Greek house.
I don’t feel sad, I just feel excited for him. Like, a little emotional, I’m sure I’ll cry tonight. Go Vandals!
