Welcome to scoop world order it is Tuesday it’s bye week Tuesday the coaches are out on the road so we’re going to bring in our recruiting expert Bill Green to talk a little bit about what these guys can get done coming off of a huge one against Notre Dame
As they begin to prep for Maryland uh they’ll get a couple practices in this week cut the kids loose probably on Friday a lot of these kids can fly home because from out of state and go check out the high school games have a good time it’s always great to have a bye
Week especially after a big night Road win uh kind of the test of the town they got a nice game against Maryland the schedule’s setting up pretty good so we’re gonna get into that and we’re gonna get into our ages of recruiting offensive tackles there’s always the talk of the talent on buckeyescript.com

Jordan Seton likely isn’t coming here uh grippy Lambert goes to Notre Dame what is going on like it’s it’s weird because I think that you know fresh off of Paris being six over on the draft after being a three I mean he’s their dream three and out first round pick six
Overall starts in the league dwan Jones uh four and out Richard Jr declares early uh probably should have been a first round pick but really messed up the process and now it’s starting for the Browns playing great football what is going on what needs to change get
Anything change uh or is this just kind of how it’s gonna be well I mean if you ask Ryan day and it you know off the record with truth serum pumped in his veins he would tell you that he did change things he changed his coach
Got rid of Greg’s pedrala and brought in Justin fry so that was the change okay um so is it working I mean last year’s class was okay a lot of Ohio kids and then this year’s class again a lot of Ohio kids I do like game more a lot I have to say
That he’s playing he’s good but man I thought they were getting Brandon Baker so what do I know and I think Ohio State thought they were getting Brandon Baker until the last two to three weeks when the Texas rumbling started this this was not Texas in this game until recently it
Was in Oregon versus Ohio State battle his brother played in Oregon very familiar with the program Dan lanning’s got it going up there but I still think Ohio state was going to win that battle that OSU Oregon battle was going to Ohio State I felt very confident of that then
You start hearing Texas stuff and that Texas stuff didn’t start till recently so was it nil you know I don’t know you know that kind of blindsided me because all along I thought it was really OSU Oregon and the OSU was going to win that so you know I don’t know I mean
It really doesn’t make sense because for Brandon Baker to look at the Ohio State program I don’t know that he would start next year he’s going to play next year if he comes to high State he’s on the field next year and then starts the year after
And you know maybe he takes that Paris route he could be a three and out guy he’s really good huh Randy in the country and Fry has a prior relationship with him when fry was on the west coast so it’s not like the kid’s coming to Ohio
Blind and doesn’t know anything no Ian fry have a relationship so I wish I could give you a better answer than I don’t know but I don’t know I think Ohio State wins the OSU Oregon battle but then Texas you know the easy thing to do is to blame NIU that’s what
Everybody does when they don’t get someone and I haven’t been told that so if I was OSU I would empty the nil bucket for Brandon Baker I’d get back JJ Smith you know JJ is amazing but you need you need you need that foundation on that little line okay you

Uh Donnie Jackson was a five-star Kittery guy Harry Miller was a five-star kid that we got you know Paris obviously is a kid from Cincinnati so you assume you’re gonna get a kid from Cincinnati obviously we didn’t get Jackson no now wait a minute if you look at stud at a
Laundry list you know Zeke Corral and Blake Blake Miller that he didn’t get so you can say that oh the Ohio kids are layups they weren’t layups for stunt and maybe that contributed partially to Ryan day’s decision to let him go I don’t know now right now you can say you know Justin
Fry is landing every Ohio kid he wants he’s he’s he’s getting the Ohio kids where stud was you know maybe 50 50 with these kids so maybe he needs another year to develop relationships to get the national guys but you’re not gonna I I don’t think you can build the team Ohio
State wants to build with just Ohio kids I don’t think you can do it yeah I think you’re certainly at the mercy of Paris you know you need like a five-star Paris type kid to be around it again you know and and they were good evaluations because you know when you
Take there and you take Dewan I mean Dewan turned into a five star guy yeah so I mean sometimes you just gotta roll the dice because like they’re not all going to be Paris and like Larry like Laramie Tunstall is the greatest Prospect I’ve ever seen for office of
Taco because he you know but you just don’t get you’ll see many of those kids like like Paris and Larry me so yeah but it’s just interesting because I just thought what the success of Paris and then the bonus success of DeJuan who’s a guy that a lot of people thought would
Be like a swing tackle red shirt ear kind of guy Jack Hoffman blows his knee out and now he’s out there against TJ Watt and he doesn’t give up a pressure doesn’t give up a sack yeah I mean it’s like he’s he’s balling right now and
Again he if he didn’t botch the combine process and the pro day process he’s probably first round pick but I mean you know now he’s out there he’s got a chance to start at Ray tackle the circumstances dictated that he’s out there playing for a really good team in the Browns and
I don’t know I just it’s perplexing to me because Kirby Lambert he seemed like a Notre Dame kid ends up being another game kid where do you think Jordan Seton ends up man I don’t know he’s wide open right now I’m told he is a pure nil guy
A 100 nil guy and I’m told maybe Florida State might have a a leg up there um you know so we’ll see I I can’t sit here and tell you I think they’re getting Jordan Seton because I don’t think they are but you know getting committed to anyone yet so take the
Brandon Baker nil money and shift it over you know take the Kirby Lambert money the Brandon Baker money and give it to Jordan Seton although you know I don’t know if you watch seton’s film I’m not sure he’s a pure tackle where Brandon Baker was a
Plug and play left tackle I’m not sure Jordan Seton isn’t more better suited to playing inside but at this point you got to go get that dude you know you got to pull on all the stops yeah or keep Brandon Baker Cape recruiting Brandon Baker you know he’s
Not signing anything for a while yeah see I I think like with all these kids you just keep recruiting them because like anything can happen like Steve sarkeesian could get off for the Patriots job like again we saw a Chip Kelly Dontre Wilson you know it’s just
Like might as well keep calling him I mean there’s nothing that can happen he might go there he might hate it he might be in the portal in a year you know I mean that’s why you you recruit him until he does not take your calls and he
Tells you leave me alone then at that point you’re done but until that happens you got to keep her from that kid he’s that good yeah I mean he takes this class this class ends up being what it is right now I I think it’s like above average

And you know you look at that old line from saying as with Roebuck and the twins and they play Massillon and they had 31 rushes for 59 yards so I don’t think any of those kids have developed the way we all thought they were going to
Um Hamilton was a guy that I saw Hamilton at camp and I think you did too yep I think you were there that day and it was okay I didn’t think he was anything special I thought he was um shorter than what he was listed at I
Thought his arms were shorter than what he was listed at I thought you could see it was an inside guy when he was kind of before we all got to see him he was purported to be a tackle oh and then when you saw him in a hot today it’s
Like if he doesn’t have to feed shorter arms shorter in height I I saw an inside guy there so and and like I didn’t think you said anything special and you know again when you’re Ohio State and you you know and you’re evaluating these kids if you go
On a kid and offer them he’s probably gonna commit so I mean you got to be real careful because you don’t want to tick off these High School coaches and pull an offer and do the Danny Clark thing and you know so again like people like why don’t y’all for Roebuck in
Hamilton I’m like well because you got to be really sure with Ohio kids because you can’t go renege again pulling that thing back because no not at a school like you know Saint Ed’s you’re gonna do yeah it’s good you already you know when they did it to the Hoban kid Danny Clark
Man that was oh God yeah and Hoban for a long time after and you saw chip train if you got chip train him now you didn’t get trip training High School no you know exactly and they wanted Katie Clark before Kaden ripped his Mia yeah and
Urban went to the school Urban went to Hoban to try to sue things over because he wanted Kaden right Yeah Tim Terrell told me the story where he went to get Kaden out of class and said hey Urban Meyer is here to see you and Kaden said
You tell Urban to go like himself yeah and a funny side light to that is when Terrell came back and told Urban that instead of urban like being Furious like I’m gonna kill that kid I hate that no Urban’s like that’s what he should say
He goes I love that kid I love his Spirit he goes that’s what he should say to me he goes I’m going to keep recruiting him it just never went anywhere and then Alabama you know he committed to Alabama and then he had the horrible horrible Nick chub type knee injury but
That’s just a side by there but that hurt them at home and oh for a walk now you know it’s only now that you know they lost uh Nolan rumler who they wanted chip train them they wanted I mean that that hurt him you pull an
Offer on an Ohio kid at a big time school like that like you said you got to be careful before you start moving nearly in these offers and all of them take it and then you you’ve got a six-man online class and then Brandon Baker decides he wants
In and you don’t have room for him and you got to cut someone out of the class man there’s repercussions for that for five years yeah so it’s really a delicate balance and sometimes it’s not just at that school because a lot of these coaches
Are tight you know and if they yeah you screw one guy over and then the other guys start talking and they say how could you do that because like you know Danny like we knew Danny we knew his father he passed away you know I mean
That kid committed as a freshman got the tattoo you know he was all in and then you know what they did to him I thought was wrong and you know again I get you always try to improve and take Martell’s Gatorade Player of the Year and whatever
But you know like never lost a game in high school but what they did to Danny was wrong and they know that but again it called football just take them both and let Danny get beat out and live yeah this ain’t working for me man I ain’t never gonna
Play here I gotta leave okay you know but again to chop the kid from Hoban who was you know Danny never developed the way they wanted him to develop yeah but Danny was all in as an Ohio State recruiter as an Ohio State kid program got the younger brother coming it it
Caused more damage chopping him loose than just keeping him and then working him I mean Danny did have skills yeah he didn’t develop the way we thought he would but that was a big kid with a big arm so what was the what was the hurt and taking him and Martel
Maybe Danny D commits before you know but you don’t chop him you don’t chop that Hoban kid I thought that was a mistake yeah and and like with Danny you know it’s hard with a quarterback because like you know most teams take one quarterback so once it once you pick
Your school you know those musical chairs start filling up you know all of a sudden you’re all the way down to Kentucky you know where it’s like the cuddle moves earlier he can maybe look at Michigan or some other school but once they have the quarterback they’ve
Got the quarterback you know so but see they also schmoozed it with um when they had Jack and Miller and then later in the year they had a shot to grab CJ Stroud well they didn’t cut Jack Miller they didn’t throw him out of the class they just brought CJ in
And it was pretty apparent to Jack Miller like I ain’t beating that kid out so Jack transferred to Florida you know they kind of recruited over him in the same class but they didn’t cut him from the class oh no that kid that kid goes to Florida
God bless him then AR-15 goes and he’s the third pick in the ground so I mean he got beat up by the second pick of the draft and the third pick in the draft and then uh Graham Mertz shows up and now he’s the starter so he that’s that’s
The that’s a tough go so we’re gonna we’re gonna get into Notre Dame real quick um yeah you too much fanfare did pick the Irish to win you’re about one inch away from being correct and again yeah about half the yard I mean I didn’t want to be correct you know
It’s just that I call it the way I see it and when I’m wrong I I stand up like a man and take it and there’s one there I mean I don’t feel like it was such a horrible pick when you got to eat when you got the lead

I mean they were short and outmanned on the left side and the house they still made it by an inch I mean it’s not like the guy walking in the end zone but I mean that was one of the worst another sequence we’ll do another day and we’ll
Be able to do it tonight do the sequence sometime of when Notre Dame has the ball and the lead and they are running the ball down Ohio State’s throat Jack Sawyer and jtt played every single oh my God defense he’s a big guy big Husky dude there
Tyler was in on every play but nine so and the two series is prior Notre Dame went like 75 yards easy they ripped him and they even got a first down on that last drive when they got the ball by running right out so so here here
With 26 with 26 seconds left Trey’s still in and they’re subbing him right now so literally so literally it’s like nobody knows who knows they don’t know over there on the other side they do no so they’ll chips in and I’m just saying they run left look how man they are

They literally they stand over the bowl so you can substitute they literally they stand over the ball you know now he came up with some cockamami excuse like oh God yeah like yeah it would have been a penalty of like a foot yeah and there’s one there’s so there’s still no
Time left but at least give your give your team a chance you know I’d rather I’d rather play with 11. from the half yard line then play with 10 from the one yard line you have to yeah give me that extra body you know what I mean so it’s just it’s

Everything’s every like the the d-line coach Al Washington has a graduate assistant and he usually has an intern too and it’s like usually the ga is up in the box and then Al’s down here because like it’s like how you see Larry Johnson down on the sideline you see uh
Variable doubt whoever the d-line coach is usually down on the field substituting guys in and out running the hockey line changes and again what do you do like do you not realize you don’t have a defensive end of the game and again like you know if
My thing is it’s like if I’m the same Washington no they did not know no because we do it two downs in a row on third down when you if they realized that on third down late and they thought I don’t want to run someone in right now
I would have I would have taken the half yard then you got to get that guy out there for fourth down yeah well the thing no the thing I don’t get is if you’re the starting defensive end how are you not screaming at the coach coach we don’t
Have it ended like the the backup’s not in I’m not in like because you know like if if we broke the Huddle and I’m just starting before you wouldn’t put a nickel in there you wouldn’t know you’re playing goal line you’re you’re going four or five D lying yeah but they were
Probably that two D lineman short oh my God it’s just one of the most I can only imagine you know if we were on a Notre Dame website you know Sunday morning right those people have a right to be really really freaking mad oh God oh my God

Have to train him oh god well and again like we have we have two guys screaming off the edge here and they’re end pinches because again you know this isn’t on G Scott this is a terrible alignment I mean if he’s gonna do this
He has to go right at the guy’s ACL and caught it you gotta cut him just cut him cut him don’t let him do this don’t let them cross your face and get put his helmet right in the right in the Gap I thought Javonte played a really good
Game I don’t know I I I I I’m telling you what he got way better I mean he got bigger I don’t think he’s as twitch he’s used to be but he is way better than it was last year because he has seven tackles pressures like in the game yeah he was
He was a lot more physical than I ever thought he was I always thought he was kind of a pretty and oh Rush yeah I mean he took on blocks and I was really impressed he almost won the game there literally you know man it’s like it is from Buckeye
Scooping an absolute miserable miserable oh my God experience uh being great you know the key the key to college football I’ve always felt is you can’t get that second loss you cannot get your second loss and the best way to not get the second loss is don’t get the first one
You know so and I’m serious like I it doesn’t matter that they won this game by one yard it doesn’t matter they’re undefeated and with their schedule at Notre Dame at Wisconsin Penn State who’s really good that at Michigan who’s ranked number two somehow I don’t buy it but they are
Um you finished 11-1 with this schedule you are in you are absolutely 1 000 yeah it was a very hard schedule in my opinion so that was such a huge win to keep the undefeated just that way after that second loss don’t get the first one you’re gonna get the second one that’s
The best part of this and seeing how in my opinion Kyle McCord was a different human in that final drive than what he was the game yep that was a different dude man that dude yeah I mean somebody go back you know and we could go back and watch that all those throws
He made he had to complete a he had to complete a fourth down pass to a covered Julian Fleming and that pass had to be perfect the past that that he dope that he threw in there to the one yard line I think that was a was that a second and
Fifteen I think yeah it was something it was a long one there was a grounding call you know the grounding call was a killer yeah and if Ryan day I mean you know Friday save that time she didn’t do it for this but the grounding call that’s a that’s an
Automatic 10 second runoff would have taken it from 15 to five then you only get one play yeah yeah now I thought Ryan should have called that time out on defense about an hour before then it allowed him to get two players instead of one I mean everything worked out
For Ohio State it worked out perfect and you take your win you move on and um one big game down you got four big games the way I looked at it this year four losable games you got one down three to go we’ve got Wisconsin Penn State you
Can always one you lose two because in 11-1 Ohio State team with this brutal schedule that I think it is brutal look at Georgia if you want to see cupcakes this is a nasty schedule 11-1 puts them in plus I don’t think there’s gonna be many undefeated teams if any
There’s parody now man there’s a lot of Perry all over college football and it’s nil it’s Facebook portal portal it’s a portal the big teams don’t have the depth that they had and the little guys were raising up so they’re it’s almost like NFL where you know Houston can go blow
Out Jacksonville on their field yeah it’s crazy in college football right now man I mean so it’s not like when it you know even six seven years ago you would automatically do your preseason preview and you’d pick Bama Ohio State Clemson and Oklahoma to be in the final four oh you’re gonna be
Right every time it was a great game the the bottom teams had no chance okay so I’ll ask TCU made it huh and this year just just come in and undefeated or one loss and state your case yeah yeah not the power is not there’s not the Gap that there used to be
Between Bama and the rest of the dudes that Gap isn’t there the Gap from Ohio State coming back I don’t think it’s as big as it was when we’ve seen it against Michigan the past couple years so find a way to go 12-0 or 11-1 and state your case which Ohio State can
State a great case for the playoffs with their sketch three big road games man I mean that’s that’s a nasty schedule it is now speaking of nasty schedules I think Notre Dame’s is even worse and if I was if I was Marcus Freeman I don’t want to shoot this athletic director
Into the into the sun because yeah these guys again let’s just put on our or we’re in the time machine we’re going forward in three months how good of a win does this look because again in 2006 we beat the Texas Longhorns one versus two game they were number one in the
Country down in Austin fast forward to bowl season they’re like seven and five so I mean at the time biggest win one versus two game whatever then you fast forward to the end of the year they’ve got like four or five losses maybe four losses something like that but it wasn’t
