Emmanuel dear viewers he’s one of the judges directing the students what they are supposed to do remember this is uh education and patriotism live from here at marala high school this is uh Sky TV is one of the corporate response social responsibilities that you know as a
Media we must contribute we must put a brick on the school’s agenda of shaping these ugandans we need to instill them the skills of confidence the skills of self-esteem so that they can also pass through the school and become important citizens not just the school passing
Through them and this is only found at on Sky TV we are the only station that brings you a program that tackles Education Direct as the judges are organizing their viewers you just have to be patient with us today we’ve changed a bit that’s why we are in the
Queen’s language I’ve already told you this program is always in Korea but when we have the student students definitely we must use the Queen’s language because these students come from various schools and we must use the official language the language that unites us the language that brings us together yes at this
Juncture dear viewers who are watching us everywhere where you are for following us on social media YouTube uh uh Instagram and uh on Facebook the judges are organizing so you don’t you just need to be patient with us the students some are divided in different rooms and others are going to remain in
This room as the team does its work for me my job is simple here today to let you know what is happening and I want to thank the production team that is making this possible remember we are coming to you live from barara high school the production team led by the manager farmer

Move on but at the moment what is happening the judges are organizing to follow these students in their respective rooms where they have been allocated so that uh uh the game can begin you know those of you who love speaking sometimes these children find
It as a game they enjoy it so much and uh maybe uh as Olivia is preparing he uh she will let us know the patrons the patrons from the schools being represented here want to thank you so much uh introduce to you after she has organized you know the arrangements are still
Going on but uh uh we thank you so much for the job you’re doing I know most of these students are literature students the students who love uh uh that Queen’s language they have very many fruits you uh you can become a lawyer you can become a teacher of literature you can
Become an engineer whatever the case that doesn’t stop you from speaking or being articulate and assertive and uh this is Sky TV my name is Vincent uh you just have to be patient with us like I told you arrangements are still going on and uh at this juncture you can
See the chairs are being arranged here uh Olivia is uh busy here you know if you’re the one walking she’s making sure that uh the students sit and I think that there are issues this is Sky TV education and patriotism and my name is Vincent Virginia today we are in a
Special edition the English edition the addition that brings you the English version so when you see me oh I don’t think I’ve gone away but uh this is younger ugandans are coming here to practice what they invest in their respective schools remember we have various schools being represented here

Thank you so much and let me take uh uh Olivia please take a take it up and tell us oh thank you so much right now we are going for round one our dear viewers please uh our honorable speakers come and take your seats and we begin up the
Judge is ready for you I think you’re going to read again these people for round one as they take their seats in this particular round we have Team ginger on the affirmative and Tim barrara on the negative when I read you please just walk start gently to that stage I traded
From Team Ginger ing you are with binomogasho Barbara Xavier Xavier on the negative foreign The resolution is this house would ban same with gender relations as a way of protecting African morals and various this house would burn same with gender relationships as a way of protecting African morals and various foreign Foreign House good morning I’m Elaine Elaine Artur from the upper motor side and I didn’t come alone my second speaker is Honorable Barbara and my third speaker is Honorable Xavier who be summing up the debate for us and back to my second speaker should be elaborating back onto and rebating
And all that what really brings what really brings us here today is this house would ban same gender relationships and what are we standing for we as the government the team government we are standing for why should we ban this that is a question really bring to us on table why
Are we Banning this and what do we want to look forward for and we are the team government if I want to repeat myself and the body responsible for this into the government we’re really leading it is the body the ministry of gender and the we have
Really faced a time frame for all this because it’s not done within Wonder or two days we are putting three to five years and the funders are the parliament because they have to really sit down and give us the laws and Basics on why this should really be done and then we also
Want money from the Ministry of Finance to rerun this this policy we’re really putting across and uh well how shall we be able to implement these bodies I mean how shall we be able because we are not a big group we have the Judiciary we have the
Army they are going to really help us into this and today we want to look at basically on quality return because we are most we are in Western Uganda we are a westerners so we want to look at Angola region specifically and what are we really going to
What uh what do really esteem Uganda what do you really want to see in this basic we want to see a Uganda the Angola region back its normal State because we are Banning this same general relationships besting on our culture our values as Africans as ugandans as
The westerners so we want to come on table and bring look to you that why are we trying to bind them we want to promote the cartoon tradition of the Angola region what do I talk about culture and tradition tradition we have the giveaway ceremonies we have the customary
Marriages that is in this ceremony that is where the dress code is preserved like this is where we see the dress code and this is where it is mainly if you’re going to take a case and study like outside education we want to look at if these customary marriages are restored back is
That is why I want to burn the same general relationships because marriage we believe in our quality it is between a man and a woman and back to customary marriages if we introduce it back and promote it it means we shall no longer promote and recruit that the contract marriages which are really
Leading to a breakdown of this nation which I really bring our moral values back to its Tech and secondly we also want to outline a few points we also want to get rid of the Discrimination of the sex lines that is why a boy and girl are segregated and that should be done
Basically by my second speaker I was going to elaborate more about the point and back to the dress code we look at the streets we look at the respect we are given when we are sorry during the customary marriages the introduction that is why we want to restore back to
This stick because if we do not come and step to this how will the ministry we the ministry of gender we want to ban this basically so to do this we have to stand as uncle and be like it is to hell with same gender relationships I rest my kids yeah
The pan of judges the negators are farmers plaster August horse I saw you all um agaba odila that what the first Speaker from the negative side of this resolution which this house would ban same generation ships as a way of protecting African murders and values here are the First Farmer came in and
Told us that they are Banning some gender relationships in Uganda but then is real are we really having same gender relationships in Uganda we have it in Africa we have came to investigate and found out that 22 of 56 countries in Africa are the ones that are now uh
Accepting the LGBT thing uh that the same sex gender relationships so you stated that we are burning so if we are really burning same gender relationships can you please tell us any of the examples in Uganda that we have as same generation ships of recent we have came to find uh of
Recent the president of Uganda his Excellency signed the ant homosexuality Bill saying that we don’t have anything like homosexuality in our country so what are you really Banning what can you please explain to us what you’re really Banning because we are really setting us aside we don’t really know what you’re really
Talking about and as team negators we have come to see that the affirmative side is just basing on some gender relationship one of the ways that is deteriorating African values and morals but we have came to find out that we have other things and other acts that are deteriorating African murals and values
And these are we have we have drug abuse so can you play We would like you to explain to us how how is some gender relationship related to drug abuse because we have come to find out that one of the reasons why our our African morals and and values are being
Deteriorated is Africa is drug abuse so with drug abuse we’ve come to find out that the youths today no longer have morals because of drug abuse not purple not not not basically on some gender relationships we have distinguished gender relationships that are also deteriorating our African murders and values we have prostitution
Is prostitution a same gender relationship it’s not but we have come to find out that it is also one of the reasons why our African morals are being deteriorated today in the youths and even in the adults we have poor parenting with poor parenting this is when a
Parent totally fails to nurture their children into into disciplined citizens of the country into citizens of Africa into Africa and to very good Africans who have behaved so uh with poor parenting I’ve totally fails to know what is really more or what is really moral Independence accepted
Thank you you talked about drug abuse and I think alcoholism is a monk and traditionally alcoholism has been the setting of the order and I don’t know how then can alcoholism lead to moral Decay thank you thank you very much yes we accept that alcohol is one of uh African cultures
But it is being used excessively and it’s not all a drug abuse is not all about alcohol we have we have seen things like cocaine we have seen marijuana we have seen uh shisha so is that alcohol have we been having it in uh ancestral if you’re really
Studying history have you seen it in our in our back culture of of Africa have you found cocaine in it no it’s not all basing up it’s not all basically alcohol that we have thank you very much we have the social media here thank you Iris my kiss [Applause]
I’ve gained my speech in three two one this household ban same gender relationships as a way of protecting African morals and values yeah of course we are team government minister of gender we should be supporting this because first of all I would I would like first refuse or revert on some points the
Second negator has said the second negator has said that it’s not on the same gender relationships that are leading to to the decline of morals and values but also other like habits either in the spring cases yes I would like to inform you that 50 percent with assist the statisticals the
Government has 50 percent 50 percent of the people doing same gender relationships use drug a drug abusers get that and know it so going back to my first speaker’s Point she has told you of she has told you of promotion of African culture and tradition if we ban same
Gender relationships we are though for promoting African culture and traditions and we are and quality people basically we are talking about the uncle region you know that so don’t tell me that same gender relationships will be able to promote the Traditions that we need in Angola formally yes alcohol was used it was
Used as the local beer whereby it could be brought to the Gatherings of people but nowadays people have abused drugs and I would like to inform you that most people abusing drugs are those people in the same gender relationship be aware of that I’m going to if the same general
Relationships continue or are not burn down or not refused they will lead to discrimination of people especially boy and girl yeah here I mean like you find a girl marrying the fellow girl is that right so boys were fully discriminated in the society boys will not feed themselves in the society yet
It should be boy and girl and you people are misusing you to send gender relationships no it is not right and adding on her points same gender relationships have led to the collapse of families find I’m a parent I have two to three children one child has chosen to be a same gender
Religion he or she is making same gender relationship compulsively she let’s say she’s a girl she goes with another girl yeah those have gone I am a parent I won’t allow that I’m not supporting her for what she has done because it is putting down the African culture and traditions basically in Africa
So when I refuse when I’m not supporting her it means to relate to the collection to the collapse of the family before you continue I will I will pick a POI from this side good afternoon to you um can you give me at least three or four examples of same gender relationships
And as you state in your parameters in Angola region oh the thing is even if the gender relationships are not yet in inquiry but we have them in Uganda but we as the government side our parameters okay it’s like we should fight them before they reach in inquiry and one of the examples
In Uganda It’s Mona and dairy mutes is an African she’s a gather but she’s doing the same gender relationship in America I raised my curse foreign speaker the table of Judges brought the whole fraternity um my name is Nicholas and I’m the second speaker from the negative side and I’m
Here to do my role and first of all the farmers side you’re not clear there is a that is I want to understand if there is a difference between same-sex relationships because some sexual relationships I may be a friend to this one isn’t that a relationship and you’re not clear maybe you’ll hear
That when you’re coming here with your side speaker um we have no same gender relationships in Ang quality as you had said earlier that you’re setting your parameter as uncle and right now we’re having no same-sex relationships in Angola are you trying to ban something where it does not exist
I think that’s not actually true because you want to burn something where it doesn’t exist uh same same gender relationships is is just one of the ways that is actually weak even among other factors that are leading tomorrow decay among these voters there is drug abuse that is permissiveness there is proper renting
That is disrespect and dislike disrespect of the editors and like not adopting to their to their Behavior like the way they had their lifestyle we are not following them so you cannot come here and tell us that same sex relationships is they maybe it’s them by kicking it without that you
Will kick out moretically out of Uganda that is not true um uh as if one of the members from this side said your eye allowed thank you I would like to know are you aware that there is a big difference between friendship and relationship please relationship same same-sex relationships
It was there is there is no much big difference between between being in a relationship and a friendship is actually the same I may be having um if this one is my brother isn’t that a relationship but then you have to come here and explain what are you actually
Kicking out are you even kicking out this relationship that I’m having with my friend you have to come and explain um actually one of the members one of the members say that alcohol is not actually leading tomorrow decay how are you sure that airport is not leading tomorrow Decay I’ll call it is
Tomorrow Decay because because it impairs one’s judgment where he or she is compelled to do what is contrary to what you want sit on it I’m about to finish um Maybe uh even considering other factors the way you can kick it out is maybe keep sex education do I allowed from yep
Patiently alcohol has been part of culture and there was too much respect and observation of the of the morals can you convince me then how alcohol is bringing moral Decay thank you alcohol alcohol has been leading tomorrow decay in a way that it will force you to do something to do
Something that may be you too as a person you’ve not been intending to do that something out of which and and I don’t know even why actually you’re trying to defend alcohol and yet it is even leading tomorrow decay in Uganda even more than this same gender sex relationships because even the admission
Date area that this same gender relationship is not even excellent thinking why are you buying it so I think you’re now agreeing with me and had reached on a point where we are saying that other measures should be should be put forward to prevent moral Decay rather than
Kicking out rather than kicking out the same-sex relationships for example give sex education this sex education in practice cultural values and respect elders I rest my case thank you judges I really wonder how can someone come here and tell us that hardcore can lead to moral decay that’s
And if you are my Witnesses our dear judges alcohol has been part of the African culture people used to drink alcohol from morning to evening till even the next day and they preserve their culture in one or the other the elders used to drink alcohol as if there
Is no tomorrow talk of Tonto that is drunk but it was the same time when karisha was preserved and Everyone by the way was ah priest of that time but look at today if it was not uh about this sexual gender relationships then character wouldn’t by the way but
Spelled anymore because I want to give you an example of I want to give you an example of where the two guys meet for uh for a marriage relationship I’m a man I’m Marrying the the Pharaoh man and in the past when we come to culture marriage was meant for
The production of children and we are all aware that there is no uh a man who can produce a child without a woman and therefore it will undermine the African culture and borrow and morals as it has been clear I stated to you our dear judges I want to prove these guys wrong
That there is a total difference between relationship and friendship talk about friendship friendship is that is meant for Brotherhood and Sisterhood but relationship that is that a connection between the two people with an in our mind of having sexual intercourses and therefore you cannot lie to me that you’re in relationship
With a fellow man just because you want to keep that brother for the relationship that is out of mind I’m informed uh our dear judges when we talk of uh uh when someone comes here and tell me that Bella has been a smoking which has
Been by the way part of a moral decay in in the in the current situation but these things happened they are not near look at the the things that the elders used to do our our grandfathers they are good smokers they used to smoke even using they could spend the whole day
Smoking and they the children had to learn from them because they were by the way leading by example how can they uh delafore come and convince me see through this our dear judges and you convinced me that smoking itself is uh is leading tomorrow Decay yet the guys
That used to smoke even more than how they today they smoke have maintained their relationship their uh their morals and various in the ancient time uh our first Speaker told you about uh burning I thank you so much okay uh our first speaker came here and told
You that burning this uh intergender uh sexual relationships will promote culture marriage first of all marriage traditionally as Africans as they Banyan code in Western and Korea who marriage was meant for child production how then can you preserve that when you marry a fellow man when you’re in relationship
With a fellow man it means then you are undermining marriage the traditional marriage where we are now aiming at forming a family and of course we are all aware that a family is made of a father mother and their children and therefore they should be banned I thank you for listening
Thank you my speech will begin in three two one this household ban same general relationships as a way of protecting African morals and cultures so and values Clash points in this debate number one same generation ships in Uganda number two other factors affecting African morals and values
Number three is still rather than ban number four drastic African values now Clash Point number one same general relationships in Uganda we’re looking at a contemporary Society where in Uganda the parliament sat down and banned same general relationships in the country so if the same general relationships in
Uganda have been removed and we are not registering any kind of same generation this includes a man marrying a man a woman marrying a woman if they are not allowed and there is a penalty for a person who does so that means they are not burning anything because there is
Nothing generally to ban you cannot remove something that is non-existent now the best they are parameters in Angola region I would like us to understand that despite the decadence I’m saying despite the decadence in African morals and values in Angola we have not gone as far as having same-gen relationships in
Angola I asked one of their speakers and what she states is that in America there are people from Angola in America on American soil they are doing it in America they are not doing it in Uganda and they’re having the same general relationships now plus Point number two other factors affecting African morals
And values from my first speech and second speech from their first speech and seconds which they come in and said that there are other factors that are affecting African morals and values these factors including the prostitution the adoption of the western culture which is the American or white culture
Into Africa which started with imperialism so I want us to understand Pano that in if there are other factors beside same gender relationships that are affecting the African morals they should be eliminated first why because the same generation ships in Africa are few they are limited they are not too
Many it is not affecting Africa negatively on a large scale we see that the only countries that allow same gender relationships in Africa are 22 out of 56 which is still a huge number left of Africans and if there is a decay of African morals and sorry of African
Morals and values we must understand that the only way or the simplistic way of retrieving these African morals and values in any case is to instill these values in the people in the youth that are the majority in the country now which brings me to Clash Point
Number three in steel rather than ban in their whole case they talk about burning the same general relationships in order to protect the African culture now I want us to understand that when you remove one element one cause it does not eliminate the other causes it does not eliminate the prostitution
It does not eliminate the number of people that have adopted the American way of dress it does not eliminate the number of people in Africa that crave the Western culture so much that women are using vaselines to become lighter skinned panel we must understand that for us to build the African culture so
If that to bring back the African morals and values we must Instinct them in the youth who constitute 75 percent of of the nation if you instill them in the youth through parents through classes with teachers if we create a lesson for African girls that are teaching these
People where they are from what they are supposed to do and how they are supposed to do it they are going to advance better and they are going to keep these more roles and values because they have been instilled in them as youths panel we see on the point of psychology if you
Forcefully evict something the human retaliation of force is force itself if you force me to lay down I will force I will stand up in any case Pano they have drastic African values they talk about alcohol which I think even in the African setting was immoral it was a
Culture it was not a moral value thank you very much I rest my case I may not write the third negative of this motion yeah let’s have replay speakers replace speakers negative you come fast then affirmative comes thereafter prepare speakers thank you for granting me this opportunity
And I’ve come here to make a reply speech uh firstly they are farmers the farmers I don’t know which force has commanded them to come here to defend something that maybe they are not sure of run away that the farmers didn’t rebuttal the point The View that was saying which was that
They were about they are Banning something in an area where it does not exist and they have not come here to clearly show us that same sex relationships are existing in according and what they are going to do about it they have noted them that which means we
Stand on a side to win um there are farmers secondly they were defending something which they were defending some things which was not clear and they were against themselves like they were contradicting with each other in a way that one wants to defend African norms and
Values and is again and then in the same you know and then in the same sentence he’s saying that he is not going to say anything about alcohol that because it is doing no harm please uh he has been using defense as alcohol is one of the African cultures
My dear I want to tell you that it has been one of African cultures but which was not moral there we stand to win um taking another thing talking about another thing is that same sex relationship uh the definition is a romantic oh a sexual relationship between people of the same sex and
Same-sex marriage refers to institutional recognition of such relationships in form of marriage civil unions among others and this thing is not proxy practiced anywhere it’s not constitutionalized that it is recognized so there we start to win because you’re burning something that is not existing so team government you have to explain
For us about that thing another thing is that thank you erase my case thank you back again I’m Elaine Elena tour from the government team and I really like the way the position timely comes and tells us that alcohol is that there is drug abuse there is prostitution you have to put
Them down we are looking as to as today’s theme States we are looking at the influence of the western value or in African culture particularly the youth and the Next Generation what uh what did they really say they really came and told us how alcohol is really coming
Into the youth and destroying them but we have said if we used back the local blood alcohol trust me our moral values really been uplifted because we are seeing what is really making these drug abuse become to the tip or to the point we are seeing they are being investigated by the western
Civilization manufactured by the local blood alcohol was taken for Unity was taken for parties and other they also come and tell us that that their participal comes and tells us that the the current president of Uganda signed the law against the LGBT and thank you you are contradicting yourself because if you
Send against it means we are not allowing it back into society and they also come and tell us how we really have to prove to them that you have to ban them but we are staying because we are beginning with what we’re building the nation because without culture we cannot stand without
Tradition we are in over here that is why I come and that is why they I think they also come and tell us how we also have to prove to them that we have to first ban these other factors destroying their youth today but if we
Are not looking at that point that we need to reproduce and then create Society we need to reform and stand with Society then we are not leading to anywhere then they also and they’re also not informed they also didn’t get the inform of the agenda in Uganda that is not that is existing
Right now that is why I said they said it’s not there but it is there we are looking at schools which have really been ranked the homosexual schools currently in Western Uganda and here I rest my case all right thank you very much uh the negative theme and the
Affirmative team you can shake hands and sit back and wait for your adjudication which I’m going to provide foreign all right now this resolution this house would ban same gender relationships as a way of protecting African morals and various let me just do it very fast from the first speeches
She told us they are using angular region as an area where they want to implement the ban that they are proposing in the resolution then they went ahead and told us the bodies the founders and the time and they told us why they need to do it to preserve
Character to preserve barriers where they went ahead and told us about the dress codes and and the marriages that are always observed in the uncle region that’s what she said when we listen to what this first negative side he came and she came and told us that
Out of the very many countries in Africa is just a few 22 that allow homosexuality or same gender relationships they went ahead and asked from the second speech what do we call this same gender relationships now that puts a certain question to the affirmative side especially to the first
Speakers who totally did not dare us the keywords of the resolution they did not outline to ask what each one of the resolutions mean that’s why we have two definitions of the word ban whereas you say ban you want to totally eliminate something that is in our current region
They went ahead and told that you cannot ban it because it is not in existence so they they try to show that ban only exists in an area where a certain a certain value or a certain advice exists that’s the contradiction that really throughout the debate then they went
Ahead you went ahead they went ahead and told us negative where they brought up a question of you cannot ban you cannot ban homosexuality or same generation ships because they have already been provided before but and the homosexuality the period was signed and passed then they went ahead and told us
That instead we have to concentrate on issues like drug abuse and poor parental that are the root cause of the decadence of moral various and and an African morals that uh that need to be protected however you brought an a question of so many years ago we had people embracing and proclaiming themselves
With drunkards as their way of unifying that’s what you said they went ahead and told Kia that that you call drug abuse is not what we call drug abuse because they said drug abuse is not limited to alcoholism you remember that you remember that they said that drug
Abuse is not limited to our tourism that’s why the first Speaker said that we have people using shisha we have people using all the other that they identified let me give you the verdict from that kind of feedback one other thing that I would want you to
Note is that in the other speeches in the other debates that are coming in please make sure you outline the keyword and explain them that’s when you can avoid the parallel debate that we had right here but I will give the team wins team negative had 237 speaker points and team
Affirmative held 223 speaker points that means the team negative which is team bharara wins the first round of the resolution thank you very much thank you so much our dear speakers you can take your seats as we wait for others to come and we break off for a break
