Canceled I don’t know what I’m going to do I am in the middle of my process and I haven’t heard anything yet my school is shut down which means the chapter at my school will not be having any events for the rest of the semester they’ve
Only had one event so far this semester and sadly wasn’t able to have their week as well I am really close to one of the members but she is a senior I was debating on whether I should tell her or not and I wanted to know if you had any
Advice from I said she was completely taken over I do not know what to do school is canceled for the rest of the semester and next semester is my last semester so what should I do What’s up everybody it’s your girl’s hiring I’m coming back at you again with another greek-inspired video as you guys can see I haven’t been getting a lot of questions about the corona virus and being interested in joining a sorority so let’s just hop right into this video

United States so we really don’t know how long this thing is gonna last the the United States has been quarantine and social distancing so we are here in Los Angeles we are only supposed to go out if we absolutely need to it is different in different areas so make
Sure that you check with your local news sources and check Twitter a lot of people have been checking Twitter like hashtag quarantine LA or whatever wherever you live to see the most up-to-date news for your area with that being said this type of situation is
Very new to all of us but I kind of think of it like this in Louisiana we have hurricanes and things like that so whenever there is like weather things natural disasters depending on the organization that you in or trying to be a part of your stuff can be put online
Or maybe put on hold or anything like that so for the purposes of this video I’m going to go through being an interest if you were online and if you were online but you already crossed the burning sands but you have not had your nip or your probate yeah if you’re an
Interest and this has happened to you your school is closed down and all the kind of thing all I can say is to use this time to do your research and by doing your research I mean get to know the organization a little more start going over the information I also think
You should get on social media and try to learn some of the people that are in the actual chapter that is at your school that you are trying to join during this time of social distance since so many people are using social media like so much more tick-tock everybody on instagram doing
Instagram live like my phone is constantly blowing up because everybody is creating content everyone is being social through social media I think that a lot of people will be more susceptible to respond to you now since we’re in a time where nobody really knows what’s going on everything is basically up in
The air so if you can find some people that are a part of the chapter say hey I just want to know like what’s going on I’m interested in being in your organization and I just don’t know what to do I know you probably don’t know
What to do either but let’s talk about not knowing what to do together so if you didn’t know anyone in the chapter use hashtags like hashtag your University and then the org that you want to join and go from there do you do a little detective work find people that
Are in the org and if you are like me when I join my chapter was inactive you just have to dig a little more find members that cross years and years before find out who the advisor is you could find that through like your university website or Instagram Facebook
Is a very good option there are resources out there for you use this time to do some detective work now we’re gonna go over if you are a candidate you pays your money and you started the process and then it just went on whole like this or whatever the case may be
You don’t know what’s gonna happen next I think nine times out of ten if you pay your money they are going to make sure that they do everything in their power to make sure that you become a member of the organization I’m thinking that national headquarters of the
Organization that you want to join will reach out to you or the person that’s in charge of membership intake will reach out to you especially since you’re already in the process you have direct contacts with these people so ask them I’ve made this investment keep me
Updated or whatever the case may be they will have all of the information that you need to know in some situations your process may be put on hold and some situations they may move it online in some situations they may postpone it to the next semester like it could be all
Up in the air you can finish in the summer you can finish in the fall it really depends on your specific situation so the best thing you can do is to stay in contact with the membership intake chair and if you’re already a candidate then you have other candidates
Were on this line with you better going through the same thing so you guys provide a support system for each other for the people who happen to be seniors who are online this semester and you were supposed to graduate I know that this is a very special situation for you
So there’s a lot of things that can happen I don’t know specifically what can just going off of what I know about being Greek all I can say is maybe they are going to finish your process in the summer they may do your process online gosh okay y’all we literally just got
Another Public Safety Alert stay home stay safe literally just got this to my phone you guys I don’t think that this thing is gonna be over anytime soon which is kinda a little scary so back to what I was saying seniors you may finish your process in the summer
You may have your process moved online I don’t know like everything is up in the air because we’ve never had this type of situation happen and then there may be the rare case where it’s like okay but if I do my process online when am I
Gonna have my NIP when am I going to have my coming-out show my new new initiative presentation when is that gonna happen that could happen summer that could happen in the fall or they could just cancel it completely it depends on the org it depends on the chapter it depends on the Regional
Director it depends on national headquarters it depends on all of those different factors being taken into account in the rare case that they ask you well what do you guys want to do about your nip there’s all types of different options you could have an online probate you could probate on
Instagram live you could have your coming out show and record it get someone to edit it and put it out that way there’s a lot of different options of using the internet and using social media I know that it may not be the same because we can’t have tons of people in
The same room at the same time during this time but if you are that gung-ho for having your probate before this pandemic settles down those are your options just stay patient and make sure that you are talking with your line sisters or your line bro
And making sure that you guys are all on the same Accord because you don’t want to be post you are already a member of the organization at this point but you haven’t come out yet so in some cases some people may not want to be shown that they have their letters until they
Have their probate and on the other hand some people don’t care they’re just so excited and this is probably a large thin of time in between the probate but I can say from experience I know people who crossed in the fall and they did not probate until the beginning of the next
Semester and they just stayed silent but that’s what they decided to do it they were a small line so if you have a line of like more than ten people more than 15 whatever if you’re a huge line you won’t be able to have a new you won’t be
Able to get together to continue your process you want to be able to none of that because as a whole the United States isn’t supposed to do that right now so all I can say is make sure that all y’all are on one Accord if everybody
Want to just go ahead and come out on social media then do that but if everybody wants to stay hidden or stay quiet until they can actually probe a for their friends and family and have that experience then take that into account as well but the best advice that
I could really give you guys is to just stay patient and stay calm because honestly this is not the most important thing right now the most important thing right now is our safety and not spreading this sickness any more than it’s already being spread because there are thousands and thousands and
Thousands of people dying from this all over the world so we want to make sure that we are not spreading it because you know people can be carriers and they cannot have any symptoms you don’t want to be doing your probate doing your steps and then you just happen to call
For a spit on somebody and then now you’re gonna pass them corona so just think about it in that way like this is all for the greater good while all this stuff has happened and I know it may be frustrating but at the end of the day
Just remember like this is for the greater good and if you already pays your money you are going to have the opportunity to continue your process I don’t know when I don’t know how but you’re going to have their opportunities but that’s all I have for you guys today
