You know your girl should be up doing stuff um i got asked this question twice in one day so i figured since i didn’t post last week last week was kind of hectic you guys know i’m like in the process of going back to school to get my master’s
So i was trying to make sure everything was good and set with that so yeah i’m going to address how to approach a graduate chapter member because of course now it’s virtually so it’s not as easy as before in graduate chapters they don’t really know how to approach them because
Of course undergraduate is different undergraduate chapters have like um what is it called meet the greeks i filmed a video at the university of south florida if you want to go check that out i’ll probably put it in the cards above but meet the greeks for undergrad is kind of
Like go to the events see what they’re doing or what they have planned for the semester get to know whatever organization get to know their people get your face out there get them to know your name see them straw all that good jazz undergrad is easy to show interest to somebody
Graduate chapter is a little bit different one because we are a lot more or i wouldn’t say a lot more but we’re more professional and business-like so you can’t you’re not going to see us like out and about as you would um during undergrad because you’re on campus if that makes sense
So because we are doing virtual processes if you guys haven’t seen yes there have been multiple virtual lines being dropped and what is this spring 2021 um all undergraduate chapters as far as my organization is going to have a line if i’m pretty sure they’re already in process but
We’re everybody’s gonna have a lot basically undergrad don’t quote me on grad as far as virtually approaching a graduate chapter member it’s hard to say because a lot of people have not adapted to the change so you’re gonna have chapters who are accepting to the fact that people
Are reaching out virtually or through email um and they’re taking interest because we’re not having events so it’s like how do you show interest first the chapter that you’re interested in should have an email address they should have a website and they should have all of their
Um board members listed on that website those board members should also be listed with an email address if they are not try facebook most graduate chapters have facebook because most graduate chapters are a little bit older they have a little bit older members and they use facebook a lot more um
My chapter we just started using instagram when my line crossed i have quite i think like three or four line sisters that deal with technology and kind of helping the i hate saying an older community but because i know there are some older people that are interested in graduate chapter but
I’ll say the tech savvy people the versus the non-tech savvy people so we created an instagram because that is like a social outlet especially for the younger generation for people like me who went through college didn’t do undergrad who are interested in becoming a member um so yeah start with emails start with
Their website start with their board members see if their emails are listed if they’re not try facebook look the chapter up by the name um because i want y’all to do your research so i’m not going to give y’all everything every little detail on how to find this stuff
Do your research if none of those outlets work it’s hard to say because some chapters a majority of chapters should be holding some type of event to invite you guys so we can kind of get to know you i don’t know how graduate chapters are going to pick interested members
Be unless like we go around asking people if they’re interested because i i don’t know i don’t know how it’s going to work i’m only telling y’all and giving you all so much information that i know and then i can tell y’all so um yeah i like i said it’s really really
Hard to say of course because we’re navigating through something we don’t know we’ve never done before so start with social media outlets start with doing your research finding the specific chapter website because every alpha kappa alpha sorority incorporated chapter has their own website whether it be undergrad and they’d be on the um
Mphc website uh and they have like their graduate advisor listed even sometimes you can reach out to a graduate advisor and majority of graduate advisors are part of a graduate chapter so it’s it’s like you can only tell y’all so much because i also don’t know and i’m not going to
Sit here and act like i do know and try and give y’all false information or say oh this is the best way to do it this is how you should do it when it’s just like we don’t really know how to approach anything right now

Send me messages saying hey i’ve done this this and this can you give me some type of guidance i like when you guys do that because it one it makes me want to help you because i know that you’ve done your research before coming to me and just asking for
