Here I think one of the most challenging places to be in uh in our walk with God uh in our Christian walk I think one of the challenging places to be in is knowing uh that you have to make a decision but not really knowing exactly
How to do it the question has been asked by many people what do you do when you don’t know what to do is there anybody under the sound of my voice that’s ever asked that question uh even to yourself or to God what do you do when you really
Don’t know what to do you know know something needs to happen you know a choice needs to be made uh but you really just don’t know what to do in this passage of scripture King David really is in that place where he knows what he wants to do okay sometimes
We know what we want to do but the question is is what you want is what you want to do what God wants you to do uhhuh uhhuh he knows that a decision has to be made uh but but David finds himself in this place where he doesn’t
Really know what to do but he’s also in a good place he’s in a good place because David has enough uh a gumption if you will he has enough sense to seek God for direction uhhuh he has enough gumption he has enough uh sense to seek God for direction Believers and if you
Ever in a place where you really don’t know what to do then I want to suggest to you today the first thing you ought to do not get on the phone and call anybody else but find yourself in a place where you can seek the face of God
So that God can tell you exactly what he wants to do in 1967 Reverend Dr Martin Luther King was isolated in a written in a rented home in Jamaica and he wrote an acute analysis of America’s race relation entitled Where Do We Go From Here chaos or Community uh because uh Believers you’ve
Got to understand the decision that you make will either cause chaos or it will cause Community what is community community is togetherness so in other words uh whenever you get to a place where a a a decision has to be made you’ve got to make sure you seek
God because uh if we make the wrong decision it will cause chaos ah y’all got it y’all got it it will cause chaos so uh he’s in a rented room in isolation and I think when you really need direction from God and I think sometimes we we forget that
Uh uh Martin Luther King was a preacher and a pastor and so but he’s in isolation in a rented home in Jamaica and uh he he he writes this Memoir if you will about where do we go from here he knew a decision had to be made as far as racism was
Concerned uh and I think this is very uh uh informative and definitely for today’s message because uh he says something in that book that I want to read here he says one of the Great liabilities of history is that all too many people fail to remain awake through great periods of
Change hear me here he said one of the greatest liabilities of history is that all too many people fail to remain awake through great periods of change he goes further to say every society has its Protectors of the status quo and its fraternities of the indifferent who are notorious for sleeping through re
Revolutions H let me read that again so you can get it real good every society has its Protectors of the status quo in other words we have people who do not want to move forward we are Protectors of the status quo nothing changes if nothing changes huh if you want change then you
Going to have to change uh-huh and so Dr Reverend Dr King says that that they are called Protectors of the status quo and it’s fraternities of the indifferent who are notorious for sleeping through revolutions uhhuh but he says but today I’m very survival depends on our ability
To stay awake and to adjust to new ideas to remain vigilant and to face the challenge of change this is from 1967 here we are in 2023 and these words pinned by Reverend Dr King are still relevant today uhuh because our very survival uh depends on our ability to
Stay awake Where Do We Go From Here uhuh I’m already in our text in the book of 2 Samuel a lot of things had happened here in the text uh David by God’s Direction uh goes up to heon uh in the second chapter of Second Kings where
He is made King over the tribe of Judah Abner the captain of Saul’s Army makes Saul’s son isth King over the 11 the over the other 11 tribes of Israel which causes a Civil War uhhuh and so uhhuh it is in that second chapter uh or rather the first
Chapter of uh uh the 30th chapter I’m sorry of 1 Samuel uh you remember uh the story how David and his men were attacked at Zig laag they were attacked do y’all know this y’all remember the story they were they were attacked at zigg and the Bible says that they took
The women and children and burned the city down uhhuh David comes back the Bible says that they cried until they literally had no more strength to cry is there anybody under the sound of my voice that’s been right there I’ve been there before I’ve been there in recent
Weeks I’ve been there in recent months where you cried so much that you got mad at your own self for crying you ever got mad at yourself I mean you just mad you crying but you’re mad uh-huh and so David and his men have wept until they literally have no more
Strength to weep uhhuh but David does not get mad he does not get angry but David does something and this is what I love so much about David because in that uh 1st Samuel the 30th chapter the Bible says that David inquirers of the Lord in other words David asked God the question
Where do we go from here uh Devastation has happened uh uh they’ve taken our children they’ve taken our women and they’ve burned down the city and David inquires on other words he says God where do we go from here uhhuh the Bible says he gives God God gives David instructions he says pursue
Ah yeah yeah he tells him to pursue he he gives him another word after pursue he said pursue for you shall surely without fail recover all this ain’t for all of you but it’s for somebody who’ve lost some things that everybody say you’ll never recover from it am I talking to anybody under
The maybe I’m talking to somebody on the live stream where you you went through some things and You’ lost it all you looking at yourself in the mirror say I’ll never recover from this but the Bible says God tells him that you will recover and without fail recover all not
Some of it not a portion of it but you will recover it all is there anybody under the sound of my voice that could just scream out Lord I want it all y’all ain’t saying it like you really mean it come on make the devil

Excited and so that was in uh 1 Samuel uh-huh the 30th chapter here we are in Chapter 2 of 2 Samuel and the Bible says that it came to pass again that David inquired of the Lord saying shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah and
The Lord said unto him go up I’m trying to calm down uhuh he says go up and David said wheither shall I go up where should I go and he says go up to Hein uhuh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah okay he says he says after this after this
I’ve got to walk you through the text after this refers to the time after the death of Saul and Jonathan and the period of mourning for them not only have they died but they have mourned their loss uhhuh and so now that Saul is out of the picture David wants to know what
To do uhhuh and so he asked God he said uh shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah uh why did he ask that question because David is in Philistine country uhuh David is in philistine country Saul is dead and David is to be
The next king he’s asking God what should my next move be huh uhuhuh he he has the education because he is a warrior he he he he he’s born into this he he has the education he he he it’s not as if he’s a novice to
This but he’s still asking God God what should my name next move be uhhuh David has learned that he must wait on God for direction uhhuh and so God tells him to go to heon Hein is located in the south of the land not too far from the Philistine border uhhuh and
So God in essence is telling him I need you to move but I need you to move cautiously he says I need you to move but I need you to move move cautiously and so there is a gathering there is a gathering uhhuh and so there is enormous
Gathering at heon to anoint King uh David he anoints him King David almost 348,000 people are present at his anointing there is a Grand National Festival uhuh the people are excited the people are ecstatic about it uhhuh uhhuh and there are three reasons the tribe sends the
Elders uh uhhuh they send the elders for David’s election uhhuh and and the the elders uh give it’s in Chronicles they give or uh they argue the reason as to why David should become king each tribe has an elder that comes and the elders come and BAS basically they argue as to
Why David should be the king uhhuh the first they said that David was bone of their bone and flesh of their flesh in other words the tribes were all of One race and United by the closest ties of relationship uhuh they were all from the same bloodline that was their argument
The reason why he should be the king is because he’s our bone of our bone and flesh of our flesh he’s no stranger to us he’s one of our own uh the second reason why they said that was because uh they said David had actually been their
Leader before he was their leader if you can remember David it was David who fought against the Philistines do you remember it when uh King uh when Goliath the Giant when everyone else was fearful when everyone else was scared it was David that came up the saw and said no
