I’m okay thank you 10 seconds I keep on want to look at that like that right you’re up good morning everyone and happy homecoming welcome to the 2023 homecoming parade I’m Jonathan sers and I’m paig Ray thank you so much for joining us this morning this has been a
Busy week of homecoming activities paig uh I’m the social media manager for the University so I’ve covered a lot of it on our stuff you work with uh Trojan Vision at the University so youall have covered a lot of it as well I know it’s been very busy around campus this week
It has plenty of events competitions too this week so we’ve seen a lot of activities and games the students just having a lot of fun a lot of fun and it’s all going to culminate uh this afternoon with the homecoming game which is at 3:00 against Arkansas State I know
Expecting a big crowd it is a beautiful day out here for homecoming uh probably going to be in the mid 7s a slight breeze it’s just wonderful I think we’ve finally seen a glimpse of true fall yes it fall some football weather and and it’s been a great homecoming we have a
Great homecoming parade coming up shortly for you the the uh VIPs are taking to the this uh stand and we’ve just got a great parade coming up there is over a hundred entries this year including about seven bands I know that was a big emphasis trying to bring uh
More bands back and that’s just uh very exciting uh not only for us but for this big crowd that we have out here on the Square absolutely and it’s a it’s a wonderful opportunity to see the community and the university come together cuz obviously we’re we’re with
The university the most but here we’ve got more than just students we’ve got families from surrounding areas as well well and you can see people have been out here for a while uh they’ve got Chairs set up we we we’ve seen people kind of camping out with breakfast so
They have come out here they have set up uh hundreds lined up for this parade and um just an exciting day I know people are probably out already out tailgating and we are very excited if you were uh watching us right now on on YouTube or on Facebook please let us know where
You’re watching from let us know when you graduated from Troy let us know who you’ve got in the parade we’re excited to hear from you and and know what’s going on and and what brings you watching us today absolutely and and Jonathan going back to something you
Said this has been a major effort to grow this event you know in the past it’s been maybe a little on the smaller side still a great event but it has grown and I think that’s the plan moving forward as well absolutely and there was an effort it was called the the bring
Back the bands and that’s something they wanted to do uh with a lot of the high school bands it was a big Memphis under uh Dr John M long uh back in the 80s and ’90s when they had this parade they would have 10 15 High School bands and W
So there was B definitely a concerted effort to have that this year they had 10 bands they had a couple drop out at the last minute due to some conflicts uh but they did uh have a great effort part of that was the homecoming uh committee
Uh with the city which is Dana Sanders with the Chamber of Commerce Dan Smith with uh parks and wck Diana Lee who’s on that committee they they called to bands and and asked them to come and they got a good response and we will see that here this afternoon that is exciting as
A former band person and I can’t tell you how exciting is when you’re in a high school band getting to come to an event like this and getting to show off and not only that but meet students from other areas that you don’t see it’s it’s a great opportunity of fellowship and
Community here and I’m so glad that that is something that was focused on and brought to this event well and I know uh part of that of bringing them here was that they are getting tickets to the game so not only will they going to get
Fed they’re going to get to go to the game today they’re going to help cheer on the incentives there exactly the food may have gotten a lot of they would have gotten me but as we said it’s a little Breezy here today out uh but it is a beautiful day
Um got to thank our crew we’ve got Jeff Herring who is directing this here today we’ve got Aaron Taylor who is on camera we’ve got a couple of our students out here today uh so just want to thank everybody for for being out here again we are getting started in a second we
Actually uh as we said we’re on the Square they have the alumni of the year breakfast here as well um it is actually at the idea bank that is on the Square uh and so that is honoring all the alumni of the year uh they are finishing
That up they are making their way out to the uh viewing stand I actually see Dr Hawkins he is making his way shaking hands so uh making sure that uh everybody gets a seat before they get rolling with with the the parade now Jonathan remind us maybe there are some
Folks watching that are here and they’ve not been to to this before so in what direction will this go where are they going to be marching yeah this is actually coming up uh Three Notch it’ll come up Three Notch and then it’ll turn right on Elm Street right at the corner
Where uh shebang dance studio is we are sitting in front of uh Mama Goldbergs and glow if you’re familiar with the square but it is going to come up Three Notch it’ll turn uh right on Elm Street and head all the way uh down to Elm Street and finish towards the campus and
Then uh they’re hoping everybody will make their way down to to the campus to absolutely tailgate terrorist and and take on the game I love it it’s going to be such an amazing day and I could be wrong but I thought I heard some music I
Think I heard some some sirens and that is when you know this parade is about to start we will have the colors first and and we will see them coming up hopefully shortly uh but the colors and then definitely uh the the sirens help lead this thing off yes absolutely and just
To give you guys a sneak peek we mentioned the bands of course the sound of the South is going to be here they’re always known for almost starting the parade they’re one of the first things and we have one of the best views at the
Sun of South not going lie yes so maybe turn your volume down a smidge when they get here but oh I see them coming around the bend there can you see them Jan absolutely here they come we hear the sirens and then we do see the
RC uh colors and they do have a fun little feature this year that should be coming behind them not seeing it yet but we will hopefully get to see that in just a second there we go and just really quick before we we all of these floats and all of these creations lots
Of hard work went into this this is not something that just is put together overnight this has been days weeks in the making well yeah as we said the the organizations uh Greek and uh campus organizations they’ve been doing stuff all week that’s been banners they’ve been doing games dances skits but also
Uh the floats but uh we are starting off today with the ROC colors and uh the colors are presented by the Troy University Army and Air Force rooc units uh on the American flag is Cadet Boatright on the Army flag is Cadet uh Simo on the Air Force flag that is Cadet
Willet on the space force flag is Cadet Lunsford and the left and uh right rifle guards are Cadet tessalone and Cadet wallworth yes and then we I’m wondering if we’ve got another addition here but there they go am not seeing yeah we were supposed to be in appearance from the
Mini jet but they may have had trouble getting it going this morning yes yes and then right behind them of course we’ve got the Pike County Sheriff’s Office they’re waving they’ve got the boat out here lots of smiles yes there they go and of course we want to thank
Our First Responders for all they do each and every day uh to help this community safe and a lot of people this is uh state troopers with Aaliyah the the sheriff the police uh and the fire Department coming up yeah so looking at right there that’s the Pike County
Sheriff’s Office Special Response Unit and then right behind them from the University there’s the Troy University Police Department representative there smiling and waving and and like you said Jonathan a big thanks to all those First Responders that do everything they can to keep us safe day in and day out
Absolutely well started a couple of years ago we added a grand Marshall to the Troy University homecoming parade and coming up in just a moment will be this year’s Grand Marshall and if you’ve ever watched the homecoming parade you should be familiar with uh Mike Amos
Mike Amos has uh covered this parade for years and years he’s worked at the University for years and years he is a Troy super ban uh he was elected to the Troy University Sports Hall of Fame was named an alumni of the year in 2008 and
So uh if you have ever been to a a Troy athletic event you have you’ve seen him You’ or heard heard Mike G so yes he he’s very well known such a sweetheart there and if like you say any Troy athletic event Super Fan is the right
Word I would maybe even go to say a legend when it comes in the fan department for sure but there you can see Mike Amos rolling up in the uh in the Mustang the classic Mustang giving a salute there to Chancellor Hawkins Chancellor Hawkins returning it to him of course lots of
People clapping and waving and saying Hey Oh my he is probably one of the most popular people here in this parade actually he played uh on the football team back in the late 60s and he was a member of the football team and so good he he has just
Done it all for Troy so I know this is this is a big honor for him yes absolutely making a stop and then right behind him another iconic figure here for Troy Athletics that’s T Roy and our cheerleading team there all of them of course saying go Trojan and trying to
Get everybody excited for this big game this afternoon sporting pink and white pom poms I’m assuming for breast cancer awareness month absolutely October uh is a great opportunity to honor those uh fighting that battle and I know you can hear them this this is the sound of the
South uh directed by Mark Walker our drum Majors for the sound of the South this year Dominic Taylor and Brooklyn Willis the color guard the dance team coming up yep there they are and I guess since I’m the the the band person I’ll I’ll say some words here lots of hard
Work we’ve got the major ads the dance line the color guard there smiling and waving lots of parents here too for homecoming weekend getting to see their children maybe perform for the first time since they started and then of course we’ve got the band the proper
Band itself behind them and let’s take a listen in Here La That is a Classic parade but they got one more for us I think it might be The N We well if that doesn’t get you I know I’m ready to go yes a great job by the sound of the south of course uh important to mention they first played Stars and Stripes Forever a classic classic song here so B you said you were you in the
Sound of the sound I was yes I was in the color guard so for those who who aren’t sure what that is those those are the the guys and girls that have the big flags on the field but yes I suppose we’ll let them pass those drums when they pass by you
Can feel it in your chest it is always great when you have them this close it is just a different experience I’ve got I can see a couple of uh little ones over there with their their ears plugged a little loud fantastic job by the sound of the
South as always and they’ll be playing of course halftime at the game absolutely uh next up we’ve got the Prince Hall Masonic of Alabama this is District Six the Masons and Eastern Star there you go waving sharply dressed of course you see him there waving and
Waving on and then let’s see who we going to have up next a band sponsor here so bring back the bands I think you were talking about that absolutely a little bit earlier right that was one of the things that was encourag us here and
We will talk about some of the Bands as they come through and and the excitement of that uh next up is going to be our Troy sixu sweedies Allstar team uh they were coached by Will Starling Clint Pew JB Blair and Josh Crow uh they uh sweetie Allstars are the first Troy
Girls team to ever win a World Series uh proud of their effort I know they went down to um Alexander Louisiana and played hard and so very excited for this group I know I know a bunch of them and uh great honor to know some of coaches
Are Troy alums and so they are excited about this as well yes absolutely beautiful float there too as they pass by then coming up after the Troy 6u sweeties Allstars Miss Alabama volunteer there waving from her car this is liby Thomas of Tuscaloosa she’s here to celebrate Troy’s homecoming she will
Actually go on to represent the state of Alabama in the Miss volunteer America Pageant next June good luck to her yes absolutely and these are the Trojans but the Trojans from across the street this is uh Chuck the Trojan he’s sitting in the back of the truck oh there he is and
The Charles Henderson at middle school cheerleaders yes awesome you’re right they are right across the street now following them it’s very hard to miss this one it’s the Pik County Cattleman and cattle women associations Pik County Cattleman’s Rodeo 2023 Queen Mia Langford Teen Miss Jaden mcder and
Junior Miss Lulu Thompson and of course Little Miss Caroline Adams if you’re ever driving down 231 uh South you will see that on the left as you go by all right here we’ve got uh just some of the motorcycles and some cool cars coming up
Yeah always a fun entry uh they try to rival the sound of the South with their their sound I think you’re right and they do a they do a pretty good job they give the band a run for their money for sure if we’ve got any bike fans here
Then you take a look at these as they drive by kind of given a opportunity to show off a little bit this morning there we go all right who’s next here Kai Omega we’re expecting to be next as they walk toward us but before them we’ve got a truck from Brundage
Volunteer fire department there of course we talked earlier about how we’re so thankful for the First Responders here in our community just a good chance to show them some love and appreciation yeah not just from here in the city of Troy but the surrounding area part of Pike County
Brundage of course and as we said Kai Omega coming up this is the Iota Kappa chapter of Kai Omega on the Troy Campus and their president for this year is Molly Kate Irwin and there you can see this year’s theme we didn’t even mention that yes we didn’t talk about it tea is
For Troy so we’re going to see a bunch of different themes for that T is for Timeless is what they went with on theirs and if you look at that uh the float itself all the little tissue papering yeah yeah you know all about that called yes
Apparently I think this has become a big thing but it’s important to note here it’s very difficult and time consuming so these floats like we said earlier didn’t just come up overnight lot of work a lot of pomping happening over the past couple of days and then next it seems that we’ve
Got New Life Christian Academy here New Life Christian Academy located at 601 Union Hill Road here in Troy all the little ones there waving their pom poms and waving at us head of school there Mrs Latasha Von all right and this looks to be our first of the Bands actually in that car

Academy of dance.com you can also learn how to get your child involved there if you’d like to now we have Alpha Gamma Delta the Gamma Sigma chapter they were charted in 1971 at Troy University and they have 140 active members there you can see 90 to nothing over Arkansas
State mat maybe that’s a sign I would love to see that it looks like they Troy Trojans Troy wins doing some cheers here one of the bigger organizations on campus of course sorties and our fraternities lots of members in there and then coming up after Alpha Gamma
Delta we’ve got 2023 petite Miss Troy Andy Smith she there on the very top if you can see her waving from that Bronco I do know her that is her mom in the front right seat in the passenger seat she was a Troy grad she was actually a
Cheerleader at Troy her dad is a Troy grad as well oh my goodness and then we’ve got Eddie Ellis there with the Shriners out of Montgomery Alabama and then we’ve got Jack krizzle there after him and then one more or maybe two more cars there Kenny Wood following up after
Jack and there we go making sure that they get their time there yeah finally there’s the Shriners the van the Phoenix City Shrine Club in Montgomery and oh we’ve got some more actually we’re sorry the classic car oh and also what a great opportunity for car lovers yes ABS yeah you will you
Will see some good ones absolutely absolutely yes it looks like that is Bill fore out of Montgomery as well they’re waving to the crowd they they have a a quite a lineup entry yeah mhm several cars and then we’ve got the trailer pulling up the rear for the Shriners there you go yeah
We’ve got some music going on as well it seems like and then if you guys maybe can see him darting around there at the very end down there maybe getting a little bit of a show in in addition to the rest of the oh yeah so we had the Montgomery Shrine
Club and now we’ve got this is the Troy Shrine Club so from all over uh the Shriners are making their presence felt here today yes and check this out just watch your kids out there yeah hold them tight there lots of loops and formations they’ve got going on
Here woo there they go hey they kind of get close don’t watch your toes Aaron watch your toes cameraman yeah cameraman Aaron over there oo got got on two wheels some of them taking a hand off the wheel to uh to wave there and then they act like you know this is just
Normal no big deal no big deal not at all nope all right oh and then Jonathan it’s not over oh we’ve got one more Shriner on a different kind of vehicle here he’s on three wheels but he’s left a lot of space which makes me wonder uhoh what’s about to happen
Here oh revving the engine a little bit he’s waiting for for his guys to go I think he’s trying to get full speed we got a little bit of a hold up with the bands I believe and so we’re just waiting as can happen in I don’t
Know if you can see him down there he’s rubbing his hands and Palms together as though he’s got something in in plan in store for us a little bit mischievous maybe there oh some movement some movement wave to the Bandstand and this outfit that I’m trying to see too what this looks like
An interesting character coming here if nothing else maybe some overall some uh blue and and orange colored overalls all right here we go they are taking the next lap oh I think I was expecting a little more maybe maybe we got something happening here here maybe well if nothing else he’s really
Good at uh at looking intimidating and kind of mischievous oh oh there we go oh that’s what he was waiting to do okay got it oh we’ve got to wait as the the rest of the chers there make a circle having too much fun out here and I think
That will wrap up the Shriners that is the Wiregrass Shrine Club out of Dothan yes and now coming up you can see these ladies here in pink these are the Troy University Sapphire dance team members there they are a historically black colle and universities based team they’re actually a relatively new
Organization here on Troy’s campus they were founded in 2022 so ladies and members of that organization this is a new beginning this is an adult daycare it’s located on uh North Three Notch Street here in Troy where they provide daily living needs for adults who are physically and
Mentally impaired yes and then coming up after them here are the brothers of alphat Omega the Kappa beta chapter it was a established at Troy in 2005 they say they love Troy and are ready for a great game today let’s see we’ve got Trojans here on the float

Chapel next up is Salah limine service they are here to service the Troy and surrounding communities call and Reserve today for your special event and it looks like that stands for Shirley’s amazing limousine service we were trying to figure out uh so SS we’re going to go
With SS SS I think is what we’re going to we’re going to go for here and I think maybe these are oh yes these are some of the vehicles that that you can you can find if you work with them so we’ve got some different types here we’ve got
BMW Nan truck and then of course your traditional yes you can’t be a limousine service without bringing the limos to the parade there there they go everybody gets excited when you see a I know you’re like who’s in there what what’s going on in there oh my gosh a celebrity is coming
Up and let’s see that one the one right in front of us that cameraman Aon point at that looks more traditional this next one’s a beefier yeah that’s a a Lio stretch Expedition yeah that’s that’s big that’s for when you want to you want to look
Tough I want to see it turn this corner that’s yeah it’s got some work to then coming up right after the limousine service there this is Troy University’s international student cultural organization you may know them by their nickname which is Isco of course Trojan Vision if you’re a watcher of Trojan
Vision we do a lot of stories with Isco there I don’t know if you can see the little boy there his name is Finn he is also somewhat of a celebrity on Troy’s campus well his dad right there is Joe McCall who for the long time was the uh
Advisor the of Isco um still a professor at the University their group is all about making meaningful connections and relationships globally and promoting International Peace uh they have the Isco Fest each year which is a a great uh Festival featuring food dance uh all kinds of just representations of the
Different cultures on Troy’s campus which of course uh is Alabama’s International University a very big thing for them and then coming up after Isco this is the bethl Bible College and Seminary bethl Bible colleges in Troy Alabama they say they are here to assist you in your bibl local needs feel free

Situation there but yeah right after them you can see them kind of moving up I wonder we missed the limo taking the corner there Jonathan I didn’t catch it I got distracted I didn’t even remember to look but coming up after the boys and girls club you can see him cheering
Right there those are members of The Farmhouse fraternity they’ve got their float we’re looking at John Robert Lewis Hall and we did see one of the what we’ll see throughout is many of the organizations they will bring flowers to First Lady uh Janice Hawkins and so they
Were the first to do that and gave her her her bouquet uh and that is a tradition we may see one later on do something special with that we’ll have to just wait and see uh the next one this is going to be future Miss American Heritage that is Maddie Booth you can
See her there on top gorgeous dress I just want to point out for anybody who’s interested in in fashion who may be watching this stream it may have a little Cardinal in there yeah I think so I think so lots of sequins lots of sequin absolutely uh madd’s mother Carri

Have pumped and basically stuck in in chicken wire right or I think so normally that’s how it’s done and I mean just yeah kind of bald up and and I mean it’s just amazing the kind of art they’re able to create with that there they have the win over LSU who can
Forget abely Trojan’s taking home the belt which is coming up that’s November 2nd the game against South Alabama yes Alpha Omron Pi their current president is Corbin Hinman there you go doing some Troy cheers there and then following up after aop pie we’ve got teen Mist Troy

Coming up under them is Sigma Kai there they go and then like you said Jonathan presenting flowers to the first lady we’ve got our second organization to do that and their current president is Ian Walker there you can see their float coming up behind I see a big Power te the power te
