The sisters of the Alpha chapter of Alpha Sigma Rho at the University of Georgia recently celebrated their 25th anniversary this August in Atlanta, Georgia during national convention.
The Alpha chapter was also awarded best National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC) Philanthropy Campaign during the convention.
National Ovarian Cancer Coalition is the organization’s national philanthropy. The Alpha chapter of Alpha Sigma Rho raised over $2,600 for NOCC.
In addition to the award received at this year’s national convention, Alpha Sigma Rho was also awarded MGC Chapter of the Year (2021 and 2022), Outstanding Philanthropy, and Outstanding Alumni/Graduate Chapter Relationship during the 2022 UGA Greek Life Awards.
Current sisters hope to continue their philanthropic work this semester with their annual philanthropy week, which raise awareness for women’s health and ovarian cancer. Some of the events the chapter has organized thus far include the UGA Period Project Collaborative Drive, bracelet tabling, Wear Teal Wednesday, Bruster’s percentage night, and Paint-a-Sister.
The Alpha chapter has raised over $2,000 so far and have collected 660 individual menstrual products and $175 in donations for the UGA Period Project.
