So let’s get into it one of the main reasons why we tell people to do their research is because a lot of times when people say they want you to join our organization they join it off of face value or I don’t want to be offensive but people join it because they know
People who are a part of it or their family moves are part of it but let me just put it out there that every organization that you think your you should be a part of every organization is not for you let me just say that I
Don’t want to say this to offend anybody because it’s not what I’m trying to do but a lot of people who join sororities because they’re family or friends aren’t part of that sorority is the reason why they join it is because they know someone who knows someone who’s part of
The organization and I don’t necessarily think that’s always the case for everybody if that’s something that you want to do great if that’s something that’s super duper important to you and you know it’s for you and you 100% know in your heart that this is the organization that you want to join then
By all means pursue it but don’t join if you don’t know anything about it that’s what I’m trying to say so let me scratch that people tend to join organizations when they don’t nothing about the organization itself they just hear things about it or people will say
Things about it that aren’t part of it like they don’t know the ins and outs of it they just go off of face value if you’re a legacy and you want to join that particular organization pursue it that’s what I do but at the same time I would still encourage you do your
Research because what was for you when your sister joined in 1998 might not be the same organization that you joined in 2017 so I would strongly recommend doing your research in that regard to make sure that that organization hasn’t changed not even the organization that the chapter it hasn’t changed if you’re
Going to the same University just for your own safety another reason why we tell you to do your research is it’s fun there’s a lot of different things that you can learn about an organization just by digging deeper into the details now I’m not asking you to go on youtube and
Watch my videos I mean you can’t even want to please watch them but a lot of people will just post random stupid things about fraternities and sororities they aren’t necessarily true but they put it out there because they’re mad or they’re jealous or just trying to misinform people and that’s not the case
Don’t look at websites that you know are gonna put a bad taste in your mouth go to the official website the official chapter website the national website the chapters website and get more information there and then also another way you can do your research is by talking to people talk to someone who’s

Organization for a long time people who’ve been in a game for five plus years 10 plus years I respect their opinions this is like your first day in organization are you trying to give advice I can’t I listen to you because I know you’re having fun but I can’t
Really listen to any with them that you can provide because I feel like you haven’t been or envisioned long enough not to offend anybody but it’s the truth so I think doing your research is really really important and it teaches you how to investigate things it also gives you
More information because what happens is everything you learn through your research and research and other organizations is gonna help you in the future when you do your interview or when you go to informational or even when you get inducted and do intake yourself in the future after you’ve
Crossed because you have to provide insight as to how did you end up where you were in a fraternity or sorority and I think that’s a good information to provide to people because it’s your story you can share your story with people so I would highly recommend that
So we’re not telling you guys to do your research just to be mean or to be secretive or discreet but we’re telling you to do it to help you better your understanding of what it’s like to be in a fraternity or sorority we’re not telling you this just to get you out of
