Since I’ve seen you last I was making you know videos while I was in college well now I have graduated from college I have finally became an AKA I have always dreamed of becoming an AKA y’all I have one team to been an AKA since I was five
Years old my kindergarten teacher went to AKA and ever since then I knew that that was one of my long life goals and I have finally became an AKA y’all um so I’m so excited and I’m gonna tell y’all a little bit about what is up so if you are
Aspiring to become an AKA or to be in any sorority after you graduate college this video is for you so to it so I’m gonna tell you a little bit about my experience with grad chapter so I know that some of us go to college and
You know one of our long list of goals is to join a sorority or a fraternity because you know that’s the way that we unite you know um us Black People Unite and you know just accomplish more things like you can accomplish a lot more you know when
You’re in a towards your fraternity it’s a great networking skill and it’s just phenomenal so you know as an undergrad some people get discouraged especially if you go to a bigger school I went to North Carolina a T State University and a t is such a big
School so anytime we you know had like lines or anything it was kind of like hard to hear about it or you know it’s all about who you know and if you don’t really know people or you know it’s just so big so it’s harder to get to know people you know
Um but you know don’t do not I am here to tell you do not get discouraged if you feel like you are not going to do an undergrad I did a grad chapter and I’m so happy that I did it I feel like everything happens for a reason y’all
For real for real they’re saying everything happens for a reason is serious like I feel like I belong in grad chapter and you know I feel more welcoming and it was just like in a way it was sort of easier because you know you’re still networking but you got a
Better chance it’s not such a big list of you know people waiting on long lines you know that that sort but yeah I am just so grateful that you know I did it in grand chapter and I’m here to tell you if you if your heart desires
To become a member of this award to your fraternity do not give up if you did not get in in undergrad keep going network if ask around if you know somebody who knows somebody keep going asking around because it is it is possible I want
Y’all to know that it is possible do not give up if that is a dream of yours keep going never give up on any dream that you have um so yes that is an update of mine I have graduated college and I became a member of Al but Kappa Alpha sword team Incorporated
And um I love it me and my line sisters we go and do things um so now that I am like back on YouTube and I’m revamping my brand I will show you guys a lot of the grad chapter experience because I feel like here on YouTube you only really see or hear
About like the undergraduate you know and I’m here to tell you that there is a different experience in grad chapter and it is also a fun experience it is what you make it you know so um I feel like me and my lawn sisters we have a pretty good relationship we all
Um meet up and we go out to eat here and there we had like a a game night one night where we all just met up in my line sister house and we just like had girl talk we drank one we played games we did strolls we did
Dances and steps and it was so fun it was so needed like I I just I really like grad chapter you know I really honestly feel like grad chapter was meant for me um versus undergrad because it was just so much harder and it was just so much
More difficult being in a bigger school um and I feel like just networking is so much better in grad chapter and it’s I mean I I feel pretty welcome so I’m very happy with my choice with grad chapter and yes I am just so excited
Um life this is just like a life update you know I have graduated I’m part of AKA and um I also was a teacher my first job out of college um I was a teacher um I started off as a teacher assistant and then I worked my way up
Um to teacher so I doubled my salary I started off a teacher assistant which that’s probably like maybe around 1500 and then once I doubled it I started getting like 4 000 a month um like a little over four thousand a month with teaching um and teaching has been
Um I’m just here to be honest y’all I’m and I’m gonna be very transparent you know if you are majoring in teaching my major was not teaching let’s get that right my major was not teaching my major was journalism and I aspired to be a reporter a journalist
Um after graduating college but I was kind of like having trouble and not getting where I wanted to be as soon as I wanted to be so in a way I wouldn’t say that I got discouraged but I just was like I need money so I work my way
From teacher assistant because I knew that my degree well I learned I didn’t know this after graduating but my mom she helped me and she was like you know you can be a teacher with your journalism degree so if you are a journalism major and you want to be a
Teacher you can know that I have plenty of friends that I went to a t with who are now teachers and we all were journalism learning nothing but multimedia recording editing strictly journalism and we are all teachers like it’s a lot of us but I started off as a
Teacher assistant with the help of my mom and I didn’t enjoy it at all I’m gonna be honest I hated it I was like I’m just not for Education like I don’t feel like I belong in education because that’s not where my heart was my heart was and still is and Reporting recording
Editing I made YouTube when I was just like 16 and you know I was never really consistent with it but I knew that that’s what I enjoyed doing so when I got to a T and I went to college I continued vlogging as you can see on my
Channel y’all can go look at my prom video um I also have a um video about college age while like blogging my experiences in college and I’m as consistent but I I really have a drive and a passion for recording editing writing like everything that I learned in journalism
You know we learned how to write we learn how to script right we learn how to record edit we had to get camera certified every semester so like I really like enjoyed my major like with my whole heart I totally love journalism and I’m I’ve still been applying to jobs
So if you see me on the news or anything just just wait on it y’all it’s coming but um yeah so like a thing about me is I don’t give up if I have an aspiration for something I continue until I strive to get that y’all see I didn’t give up
And you and I’m here to tell you that if you want something go get it whether it’s a career uh you want to be a part of something bigger than you like go get it like I enjoy enjoy enjoy enjoy my chapter but back on to teaching so
Yes y’all I work my way up to be a teacher assistant then after I stopped doing teaching assistant I got another job as a full-time teacher and that was with the alternative kids so they were like the bad kids quote-unquote like and I my with my experience I learned that
Those kids weren’t really bad they just needed love like so I felt like those kids really enjoyed me that they loved me while I talked with them but I felt like it was kind of above me and I felt like I just I don’t know I feel like I
Wanted to per you know do something different so I became an EC teacher shout out to all my EC teachers watching this video if you come across this um I became an EC teacher which is um working with exceptional children and a if you have a journalism degree you can
Also become an EC teacher um and work with exceptional kids and those are the kids who like have learning disabilities and struggle like you know struggle with reading math or anything of that nature so um I started um with that and I was really happy with
My paycheck let’s say that like I mean I really was because it took care of my rent and I’m here to be honest with y’all like my rent was paid so I didn’t have to worry you know I had a that was the biggest check I’ve ever received
Since graduating college it was like 4 000 like a little over 4 000 and you know teachers get paid the last day of every month so yeah that was good the money was good but my heart still wasn’t in teaching like to get up every day and
Have a strive to complete something you know you want to have your heart fully in it and with me like college like I really enjoyed College I enjoyed every aspect of it I loved everything I loved my professors I love my school I love my major like I knew that journalism was
Something that I wanted to do even in elementary school I was on the news um you know how like in elementary school everybody has like a a news um it’s like a a new show I was on the news in elementary school for my elementary school and it’s just like I always
Enjoyed the camera I always I’ve always loved the camera reporting recording editing that’s why I started YouTube in high school when I you know with my prom video and my prom video got up to 7 000 views and I thought oh that’s good you know so I kept going when I was in
College but the only thing was is I wasn’t consistent with it but I’ve always enjoyed recording reporting editing all of it like I enjoyed my major so much journalism um so yes and um but back to see the teacher so yeah teaching it just it I didn’t have a
Passion for it like you know my degree with my degree I can do a lot of things like teaching is one if I really want to make like immediate money teaching is a thing that I can do if you are a journalism student right now in college
You should know that if you are struggling with getting a job after college you can be a teacher an EC teacher and that’s immediate money maybe your path is different you know um but I also really really I don’t know and yeah I just I would not trade ANC
For nothing I may like really really good memories there good friends and you know everybody’s path is different but yeah I just teaching it wasn’t for me and I just hope that you know as I keep going I can get to my career goal which is to be on television
Um and to you know just be a journalist at every aspect because that’s where my heart is that’s what I want the school to be that’s why I paid thousands of dollars to do you know what I mean but yeah so I just wanted to give y’all like a little life update
Um if you think if you’re thinking about teaching then do it if it’s for you just know that you’re gonna be dealing with kids and kids do have personalities and it’s just a lot that comes with you you’re not only gonna get good kids you will have some
Kids who are gonna challenge you they’re gonna come to school to challenge you they may find you interesting you know for me I feel like some of the kids were like just so interested in me because of how you know how I keep myself up and
Things of that nature so I feel like they were like you know huh how can I mess with her today you know like you get kids that are manipulative I’m just gonna be honest like y’all my eyes are watering every time I do my makeup my eyes water
So bear with me but you will get some kids that will try you like I promise y’all like it’s not all y’all may be on Tick Tock and see all these teaching um tick tocks and reels like oh teacher’s amazing teaching is good the money is
Good for me because I’m single I don’t have any kids so when I see four thousand dollars a month yes but I just found myself doing it strictly for the money and I’m like my mind isn’t here my spirit isn’t here and my happiness isn’t here so I just knew teaching wasn’t for
Me and I just felt like it was time for me to like step into my purpose and like really go hard for what I went to school and pay thousands of dollars to do you know what I mean but so hsl maybe y’all have y’all have her teaching but that’s just my experience
