What’s going on your mega building news TV here now a while back one of my subscribers posed a topic for me to talk about and they said how should you go about showing your interest in a Greek letter organization so me being a member of a black Greek letter organization
Kalfas I I definitely feel like the first priority is to make sure your grades are in order you want to make sure that you don’t eliminate yourself from contention and being a member of one of these organizations whether it be fraternity or sorority by not having the grades
Our organization is not going to take you serious if you’re not doing what you got to do in the classroom because they’re gonna say hey he or she is not even serious about their future they’re not serious about graduating that’s the purpose of coming to college you want to
Leave with the degree why should we let him or her in his organization and they’re not doing this supposed to do in the classroom because you’re supposed to uphold your academics and at the same time give back to community service that is the purpose of these social social organizations these social fraternities
Or sororities you’re supposed to get back community service but also uphold your academics so if you ain’t doing that they’re not gonna take you serious second of all I definitely think you should do your research on what organization that you feel is best for you you look at the history of the
Organization look at the principles of the organization and also I would even say some people feel like this could be I don’t know shallow or something but I definitely think you should even look at the straws that they do um some individuals can see themselves themselves doing certain straws and they
Can’t see themselves going other struggles you know they feel like hey I can’t see myself doing that I can see myself really I could really see myself doing some of these other things and I think that would best suit me so I think you should do your research on what
Organization best suits you and um even then I think you should take it a step further than just research online sometimes people would look at how the organization is represented on their campus and they can feel like okay I can vibe with this group of individuals over here they seem like they’re real
Brotherly they say like or sisterly or I really feel like they’re down-to-earth people I feel like that um they always know community service I feel like they’re on top of a game I feel like they’re always uplifting each other and I feel like they’re they hold a certain prestige or professional prestige and
You can feel you could see yourself fitting in with those individuals so sometimes it’s not always about what you research on the computer is also about how certain ordinate organizations are represented on campus that attracts individuals see that organization on me in particular when I was in college and I looked at I
Kappa Alpha side I saw I saw those individuals always supporting one another there were always you know address just professionally they always a lot of the older members of the organization on campus or always mentors to me they were always trying to help me out helping a
Lot of younger individuals out and they seemed to be really really just good people saw Bob with them you know the most out of everybody um also I think that one mistake some people make well yeah do your research first before going to the I before going to an interest
Meeting I say this because I think I can’t speak for other schools but I know in my school in particular it was looked down upon to go through several different interest meetings of all these different organizations I felt like by the time you go to her interest meeting
You should have your mind made up on what what organization you feel like this for you and what working as a ssin you want to do because if you go to several different interest meetings is gonna look like you don’t know what you want to do you just winging it and you
Really don’t you haven’t made up your mind you’re not really serious about a certain organization because you going to all these different issues meetings and believe me these organizations on campus they talk amongst each other they talk to everybody everybody knows who went to what interests meeting and they
Know if a certain person pops up in several different interest meetings so you want to make sure you have that that less broken down and you know which organization is for you from the jump um also I think that you should develop some type of rapport with the chapter of
The organization at your school you can you know I think you should know something about the history you’re not gonna know everything because you you know you’re not trying to become a member of fishel yet but you’re gonna just know some things about the chapter I know the chapters name I think that
You should show your face and the chapters events that they’re hosting on campus just so they can kind of know who you are and also you know you can speak you can speak we say you know what’s going on I don’t think you should be a Superman or come
Off like you just I don’t know some people say you just not oh not a groupie I want to say be a superfan or nothing like that but I feel like you should you know just you can speak and also I think that you would want you should okay you
Should speak but also I think that you should want to develop some type of respect and I said it because I’ve seen I’ve seen personally individuals goals and organization events and they try to mimic the straws of the organization that they like or they try to throw up
The hand symbol or something like that and that is very disrespectful so you don’t want to come off as being disrespectful from first interactions or any interactions because at the end of the day they are part of an organization that you’re trying to be become a become
A part of so you don’t want to just act like you just in an organization all in public and doing all of that it’s gonna look it’s going to come off as a bad look um also man I think that you should really join an organization for the
Right reason you know a lot of individuals they try to join BlackBerry’s metal organizations and hope of it delivering them clout they think about become a member of this organization I’m gonna get all the girls all I was gonna be on me I’m gonna be the man on campus the girl might think
I’m gonna be that chick on campus and I’m gonna get all the lights on Instagram or four retweets on Twitter or Facebook and everything like that and they join these organizations for the wrong things you gotta know that yes you’re gonna have your fun which is
Your organization too at the end of the day represent represent the organization in the best way possible and also to commit to community service to people you know you’re going to be giving back to the community in several different ways whether it’s doing turkey drives I’m going to the soup kitchens to help
Feed the less fortunate if you’re cleaning up the highways cleaning up the streets you’re mentoring young kids you’re serving your students the young individuals on your in your spare time it comes with the territory so you got to know that yes you got beating strong competitions and you know
You’re gonna stroll on campus and you’re gonna you know you’re gonna host some social events on campus but at the end of the day it comes all bad to community service and if you’re not down with doing it you shouldn’t be trying to pursue a Greek letter a black Greek
Letter organization in the first place because it’s not for you you just want to have fun with it and you don’t want to do the important things they’re really true important things as well man and on try to think what else you know I really made this video in a spur of the
Moment but I think that in you trying to pursue a Greek letter organization I think you should have an idea of who you are and don’t lose sight of who you really are in pursuit of you trying to become a member of these organizations because it happens man I think a lot of
People I’ve seen a lot of people get the big head they transform completely so you just want to make sure that you know you stay true to who you are you know internally who you are as a person even though you’re a member of these organizations man but I don’t yeah
Definitely do your research you know go to one issues meeting develop some type of report relationship with the individuals at your school and I think you should know some chapter information as well you don’t want to be disrespectful you’re gonna make sure your grades up the park and see let me
See let me see let me see ah oh yeah it also helps to know some individuals who are members who are financial members of the organization because there are they are the individuals who who will be writing your letters of recommendation you need letters of recommendations to become part of these organizations
Because you know that some people have to vouch for your character they have to vouch that you are a you are who you’re presenting yourself as who these individuals that you’re trying to persuade to not persuade ya you try to they want to make sure you are the person that you’re presenting yourself
As they don’t want to make they want to make sure you’re not a phony you’re not putting on a front or an act so you’re gonna need what letters and recommendations from individuals who are financial in that fraternity or sorority so it would help to note some in some
Individuals in your organization as well um yeah I can’t think of anything that I would add personally um yeah that’s pretty much everything that I would add right now I’m gonna make another video if I forgot some things to you know brush up on this or throw out
There too for helpful information for individuals who are going to college and want to be a member of a black week metal organization I will say that it is a great experience um you develop a relationship and a bond with some brothers for the rest of your
Life and you go different places you always want to have a brother or a sister that’s in your organization that you can reach out to or call upon when you’re in distress or when you just want to have a good time or you know even in a professional realm there’s so many
Different individuals who are part of these organizations that it could definitely open some big doors for you man my personal thing that I don’t like this one individuals who have never been to college who I’ve never even don’t know anything about these organizations they try to talk down on it oh y’all
Just doing anything that’d be cool or you know y’all going through some dumb stuff and I listen I didn’t ever I never degraded myself at all to become a member of this organization I will never degrade myself as a man for nothing nothing mom I’m a man before anything so
When people say those things it come off like it’s some bitterness involved a lot of bitterness involved in it and I’ll be seeing individuals who never went to college not saying you should go to college you got to go to college the top down on another nun talk about it
But I see individuals they be in gangs in the streets hunker down on young brothers that you come members of these organizations and I’m looking like brother what are you doing with your life if you out in the streets you gotta shooting at your black brothers shooting and killing your black
Brothers and all of a sudden I see your black people how can you talk down on my brother who’s going to college who’s joining an or who’s joining an organization that’s founded upon community service and giving back to the people our organization that was founded for the purpose of uplifting black
Brothers to recognize they can be more than just labor men because these organizations were found in hundreds of years ago in the days of of slavery in the days of deep racial segregation like deep racial prejudice these individuals created these organizations to help black men and black women know
That they can rise above the the standards of society and become everything their wildest dreams they can become lawyers doctors dentists educators all these journalists reporters all these different things that they can become these organizations were founded to help black people recognize that they could become more
Than what society was telling them and they could give back to their people there are people in the process so how can you talk down on a young brother or sister that’s becoming a part of these organizations and you out here in the streets running around doing all the
Type of crazy stuff I don’t get it man but I definitely know that joining monies or joining becoming a member of Kappa Alpha Tsai becoming a brother this fraternity was one of the best decisions I ever made in my life I just got on the phone with some of my
New brothers man we talk all the time we you know we when we can be going see each other I go to shake ships to the school to go see their makeup well some of them one of them one of them in particular ask on they plan to come to the shot
This is something to come hang with me and we always got that bomb when we link up we pick up right where we left off and we have fun with each other man we was that a step so we all stroll and we shut the place down everybody was you
Know all eyes is on us because you know we were and we was all there and we were striving we were having a good time and representing an organization well man so yeah I think if you’re thinking about it is definitely something this you that you should do it you should look into
