Hey YouTube so as you can imagine I get a fair amount of sorority related questions probably within each month by different people and a lot of them ask me a bunch of really really good questions and a lot of people ask me questions that are from previous videos so what I
Figured I would do is I would just go ahead and do a five most X questions for you guys just to give you like some general questions that I’ve been getting in the past couple of months I understand I put a lot of videos out there that are sorority related and I
Even have a playlist and that you just can’t get through all the videos at one time sometimes you just want to have a spot where you can go to all your questions get all your questions answered at one time I get it I’m with you guys so I’m gonna make this easier
For you and give you a few questions that I have been receiving so question number one and they’re not in any particular order but question number one would be how do I show interest typically what I tell people when they want to show interest in a sorority or
Fraternity is to just go ahead and find someone that you can connect with I typically think that it’s a lot easier to connect with people who are newly inducted versus people who’ve been in the chapter for a really long time and I say that mainly because when you’ve been
In a chapter for a really long time you most likely are gonna be a person that’s in a leadership role and you’re not gonna want to be bothered with questions so I totally get it and it’s not that you’re doing it to be rude or mean to
People it’s just you have a lot going on and so when you come across someone that has a bunch of questions you can’t really answer them the time they want you to answer them because you’re so busy so for those of you who have questions for people that are in a
Sorority I recommend that you reach out to someone who’s been newly and done thing because they’re gonna have a little more time on their hands hopefully I know once you join you typically like dive in and you don’t have time to talk people because you’re constantly on the go for your sorority
However its new it’s still fresh in your mind and it’s a lot easier for you to answer people’s questions so if you’re one of those people that has questions I recommend connecting with someone who’s already been who’s just been inducted into the chapter because they’re easier
To reach it’s still fresh in their mind and they can give you firsthand perspective on what learned and there’s nothing wrong with that so I definitely recommend showing interest to those people another way that you can show interest would be to attend as many events as you can with
The sororities that you’re interested in there’s nothing wrong with that there’s no commitment behind me either you can go to their social event community service Church sometimes they have Church all of that stuff you can go to any of those just to show your face let them recognize you you’d be like hey
Kelsey’s been coming to all of our events maybe she is interested let’s reach out to her and that will prompt them to reach out to you as well the second question that I get excellent or the time would be what are the minimum community service hours from my
Experience with the organization as a whole no matter what when you’re joining I don’t believe that there’s a minimum community service hours to be completed I know chapters have their own recommended community service hours that you complete but I don’t think sororities as a whole has the minimum
Hours of community service that you’d have to complete before you plan on participating in intake now if you are interested in intake and say it’s like the semester before the intake occurs I recommend getting as many community service hours as you can just so you have something don’t start the semester
That they’re gonna have intake and then try to do a bunch of community service cuz then they’ll see oh just start doing community service because she wants to show that she’s doing community service when you should have been doing community service the whole time there are different types of community service
That you can do too and it could be minor things it could be tutoring someone you could help clean up somebody’s yard help out at the library little things like that just do something to show that it’s a routine for you and it’s not something that you
Just jumped on because you know that it’s a requirement third question that I get is always related to age a lot of people ask me is so-and-so number too old to pleasure sorority in undergrad from my understanding these are all based off of my personal experience but from my understanding to join in
Undergrad all you have to do is be in suit of a four-year degree that’s it there’s no age limit I think if you feel like you’re too old if you’re in your mid-20s and you’re just starting undergrad or you’re close to your late 20s and you’re an undergrad maybe it’ll
Be best for you to join a graduate chapter after you’ve obtained your degree just because you’ll be amongst your peers typically when you join an undergrad we’ve ranged between the ages of 19 and like I want to say oh it’s gonna be like 20 to 23 maybe if you’re a
Senior so it depends so if you want to be amongst your peers I recommend just holding out until you can join in graduate chapter or an alumni chapter it’s not the only requirement that I know of is that you have to be in pursuit of a four-year degree to join a
Graduate chapter you have to have already obtained a four-year degree in order to join fourth question that I get is typically when people are caught between two different organizations they don’t know which one will work best for them and they Lex can I attend both sorority events when I’m interested or
What I don’t know which one I want to join I don’t see anything wrong with you attending their social events or even attending an informational gathering the reason why I say that is because an informational gathering is not the same thing as a formal interest meeting or a
Formal was it called formal rush there’s a difference informational gathering can sometimes be the same thing as in take orientation that your campus doesn’t have that all it is is just you learning broad information about the organization that you’re interested in from my experience there’s no commitment with attending and interest meeting unless
You verbalize your interest unless you say to the the membership chair I love your sorority I want to join your sorority I’m so in love with you guys I don’t think that as an issue with you attending an informational gathering or an informal now if you’re attend a
Person’s formal rush and then try to attend another person’s formal rush I should say organization another organizations former rush then you’re going to have issues because that’s kind of disrespectful to go to one and then the other and then choose when you get down to formal rush you should know exactly
What organization you want to join because it’s gonna hurt you in the end if you try to go to one and then go to the other because people talk someone’s gonna find out it’s only end up hurting you in the end I feel like but if it’s something innocent like informational
Gathering or social events or community service and you’re caught between those two sororities I don’t see anything wrong with you attending both if you want to be sure though I would act someone that you’re really close to that’s in that organization or that you feel comfortable with talking to about
It to get better insight me personally I don’t see anything wrong with it because there’s nothing wrong with people wanting to see what’s out there before they make a commitment now don’t verbalize your commitment because that’s a whole other issue a fifth and final question that I get is how do I join
Graduate chapter and it varies somewhat organization organization to be honest I recommend doing a lot of research when you’re interested in joining a graduate chapter mainly because they’re not as readily available as an undergraduate chapter would be graduate chapters are alumni chapters they’re not going to have a host institution where they’re at
In order for you to find them they’re located in a residential area and sometimes they have a house sometimes they don’t have a house so you don’t really know where to come in contact with them in that case I think that social media would be a good way to
Reach out to a graduate chapter because at that point they should have websites Facebook pages Instagram some people still have Twitter’s and it’s just easier for you to contact them that way but after like graduate chapter is a lot easier to join once you figure out how
To reach out to them the reaching out part I feel like would be the more difficult part if you guys want a more in-depth graduate chapter video please let me know I would be happy to do that for you guys give me a thumbs up if you
Want a graduate chapter video I have been involved with graduate chapter intake to a certain degree so I kind of know the basics of it and I be do my research for you guys if you want to know the ins and outs of that but if
You liked this video give me a thumbs up and I can’t wait to see you guys in my next video bye
