[Applause] look who it Is R pel gold excellent job on the back shot the maneuver out in front from pelky and the Buckeyes answer right opportunity and the buck guys capitalize on the man up for the second time long shot and they score another chance and another goal for the buck [Applause] guys coming down it’s currently October 5th 8:34 about an hour into a buckeye practice and the guys are Juiced I can tell you firsthand I miss being a part of this program uh in this Brotherhood this is an unbelievable look from Mitchell pel the energy that coach
Myers and this team brings to the field is Untouchable and I’m really excited to see what this team does this spring with the last year of the transfer portal with the guys on the team and obviously the incoming freshman this team’s going to be special this spring Co Myers at
The helm and Coach crane not too far behind him and two new assistants this team’s destined for a great year I’ve traveled out to Columbus to spend 48 hours with the Buckeyes to document what this team’s all about this year what are the Buckeyes going to do this spring let’s find Out we’re starting out what’s the vision for the 2024 season vision for the team is certainly one that I’m excited about I think that when you create a vision you start with a goal in mind an outcome in mind and certainly when we talk outcomes competitively it’s it’s a
National title it’s a big 10 Championship it’s a Creator Trophy and it’s beaten team up north I think beyond that Mitch and you know this better than anybody it’s it’s continuing to develop the Brotherhood you know are we are we stronger are you leaving it better than
The way you found it it’s not a day that I walk in here and I don’t pinch myself or just appreciate the responsibility that I have as a leader and it’s something that I’m very proud of Coach Tuma is at the Buckeye hospital and at 5:58 a.m. this morning a 6 lb 9
O all right hands in here let’s go man let’s make each other better here take care of each other make each other better fast on three 1 2 three all right we’re going to face it off here we go let’s do it we got the clock sticking
The ball’s got to hit your stick there all right you’re good man let’s go next one good arrive arrive good that a boy greedy when the ball’s low you check down if he clears you you go deep does that make sense so that one’s really important for you to yeah
But you know what I’m saying when the ball’s low you come down to it okay good listen if that’s close you could probably could have gone up that one great job getting a clean though man it was awesome that was great we are not going to give up a single pass and a
Shot in our fiveman for a goal it’s got to be a top down feed only good speed speed speed throw it harder harder harder nice job good let’s sub it it’s you GRE step into it it’s a goal it’s a goal you’re a short stick you have no
Range does that make sense guys started as a volunteer here at Ohio State to where you’ve been now what’s your journey been like yeah I’d say it’s a little bit of an unconventional Journey when I graduated from college I went back to Baltimore I was working at Kelly
And Associates you know after three years there I remember sitting down with coach Kelly and talking about my dreams of coaching college lacrosse and like a month later coach Myers had called about the volunteer opportunity at Ohio State and now in year eight as a buckeye and I
Look forward getting out of bed every day for the people I get to see in the locker room going around and giving a lap and from 1 to 53 and giving all those guys a hug each morning before practice and checking in that’s probably my favorite memory every day when I step
Footing inside this building Columbus has been home for me for the past eight years and I’m very thankful for that for sure we first freshman to get their Scarlet Loop man it’s a big deal G man came in this summer work his balls off and is a leader for this class man Kat
Manti yeah baby it’s another guy Relentless work effort uh puts it in every day guy never leaves the thing and and it’s really showing dividends and his focus is is next level [Applause] KY first transfer get it Ed just face off always from good attitude re [Applause]
Gladstone what was your feel when you first got announced Captain I’m just honored just seeing all those guys that I’ve looked up to my four years here and seeing like my name among those names has just been truly an honor for me it was pretty surreal just having a
Responsibility to carry that tradition on and just knowing that I have the trust from the coaching staff and the rest of the team really meant a lot and I love leading this group more than anything it’s an honor just being here now 5 years and being able to play Under
The captainship of so many great guys Ryan terano Lucas Buckley Jack Myers Henrik just wanted to follow their ways um and to be now in a position of leadership it’s an honor but I know it’s a responsibility to serve this team in this Brotherhood in every way possible
Here we go work go three 1 2 3 let’s go get There no no I didn’t know was a camera behind me this is the this is the squad this is the squad you get that neck fad are you sure you sure are you sure you sure I’ll get you wor okay all right you doing your good you good over here you good over
Here big yum yum what you going to do keep walking off my block son big yum y big yum yum what’s it like being on Columbus for the past couple months this experience has been awesome you know it’s been better than I honestly thought it would we have a very close group here
Everyone’s energy is awesome everyone wants to compete and honestly that just like makes me happy like I chose this place for a reason and this is exactly why you know what I loved about this place is that the Brotherhood was so strong that’s one thing that Drew me to
Ohio State so much and that’s what helped me kind of transition so quickly from homeschool to then uh this big School Ohio State one of the biggest schools in the country there there is really no stratification between starters and bench guys or freshman and seniors or red shirt seniors I mean it
Is a group of guys on One mission you know and all kind of head in the same Direction go outside JT JT it’s you yes come on every time let’s go baby be aggressive can attack let’s go had a boy sheener had a boy sheener I’m loaded at the cone my stick is behind my head I’m demanding the ball with my voice but also
What your posture that ain’t loud enough gavs tell them you want the ball yeah okay yeah okay one one [Applause] [Applause] One what is the Buckeye Creed you know it’s obviously something that’s on your heart it’s on mine you know Mitchell this this interview is one I’ve really look forward to when you think of the Creed I immediately think of you I think of people I think of us I think about
That moment in this room we’re sitting in when Tyler Fister came in and said hey I’m I’m done and then he came back a month later and he had composed in his journal the Buckeye Creed you know the Creed started really with guys like Dave Shelby and Bob rousa in that 1949 team
And each team each Brotherhood has poured into each other and I think what Tyler did was bring to life what so many Buckeyes have experienced here you know I think the Buckeye Creed is is really a manifestation of the feeling that our guys have in the locker room when it’s
At its best you know I think that hopefully when our guys recite the Creed as as a team it really helps them put into words what it means to be a part of this program and what it means to sacrifice something bigger than yourself I mean honestly when I hear it it gives
Me goosebumps every time I hear it you know to think that someone could put their heart on paper and it resonate with every member of this program that’s past present uh and certainly in the future I think it’s just like it’s incredible honestly what’s up y’all it’s Colin
Brown men acros here we’re here at the athletic dining hall we call it the nest let’s see what’s up the first get in we have to swipe so we make sure all the athletes have their like menus and stuff so check in we’re all good usually like
A mix of eggs uh half Brown PE potato um we have omelet uh some days they’re making pancakes blueberry and chocolate everybody’s getting those died up right now hash rounds in there here we go fruit I usually go grapes I know a lot of guys like a lot
Of different things like the yogurt’s really good Fe granola mix but uh keep it simple with the grapes some guys also like trying to gain some weight on the weight program uh grab extra peanut butter and jelly sandwich but that’s pretty much it chocolate milk regular
Milk and uh yeah that’s the nest who’s the pickiest eater when they come up here on the team I’ll say Tay Jones tones the eggs are always questionable with the Tay Jones and who’s the guy on the team that’s just totally taking advantage of the nest never going out
Always trying to get free food I’ll say CC and Greg though they Greg Greg Lang take sleep here yeah CL oh that’s a shot that’s the one I’m all arms now Squad you know you’re not you what’s up guys Tay Jones here just walked into mid Hall lab about to walk
Into our earth science intro lab class right here I don’t know how this is going on YouTube for what like what’s the it’s a school project okay what do you say about the Ohio State Men Elite he knows the culture how much does Ohio State do for their athletes outside the field they
Provide you with pretty much everything you could need if you you ever need something um you can just reach out to a member of the Athletics and they can help you out whether it’s jobs anything really I mean we have you know the best academic support staff in the country we
Got the best facilities in the country great school I mean anything you could possibly need we have here so I mean we’re definitely blessed here we got the best academic advisers teachers I mean we got the best uh places to study we got Sasso here we got everything what’s
Up guys mudo number 31 I’m going to give you tour of the youngan Success Center so this way is all the trainers that help us with academics in here there’s a bunch of different offices this is personally a lot of the guys on the team’s um learning specialist Miss
Stephanie she’s awesome helps out a lot here what’s Matt Caputo like in a couple words you never know what you’re going to get when Matt comes in the door I love that that’s good yeah I’ll take that and these are just a bunch of athletes around here this is big tasty
And D’s office right here getting getting some work done some academic weapons what’s going on in here mathematics how is big tasty doing he’s doing fine is men’s lacrosse your favorite sport here yes I do love them who’s your favorite who’s your favorite Kale’s my favor I’m her favorite yeah
Yeah that’s good so this is the computer room so you see a bunch of athletes are studying right now but if your computer dies or anything you can come in here study do whatever you want write an essay so that’s super quiet space like study rooms where you could slide it um
This is really the rooms where like our tutors are and stuff these are my friends Molly and Jess on the dance team are going to say what’s up what do you guys think about Sasso and how much that supported you from the two years you guys have been here we’ve used it every
Year I’ve been here um it’s definitely helped me graduate on time and make sure that classes don’t conflict with practice and the tutors are great we have one of the largest rosters at Ohio State for student athletes but we also have one of the highest GPA we’re right
Around a 3536 team GPA um and for a roster of our size I think that’s really impressive I’m really proud to kind of have my name um associated with That what does edging mean to a higher state when I came in you know edging which is you know student extra work is something that I did a lot and something I I um held myself to a high standard for it’s the norm around here you’re expected to
Get extra work on your own you know go out to the field shooting footwork whatever you need to work on whatever your position is it’s a massive part of the program it’s just a way coming in putting your work boots on and separating yourself from the the rest of
The country yeah I think it’s something that’s really unique to our program something really cool that has been really fostered here over years and it’s taken time to build it to the place it is today but it’s awesome every night to see guys coming back into the facility
At night getting extra shots getting extra footwork and it’s really cool and it’s something that uh will be here long after I’m gone I think edging is a huge source of of who we are as an identity just the ability to not only take what you learn and practice and what you’ve learned
Throughout um your Journey coming here but you know putting it to work on the field like when no one’s watching I think it’s a large part of where a success Falls hey guys welcome to the Shoemaker athletic training room my name is Seth fauler I am the staff athletic trainer
Working with mow State men’s lacrosse you guys come on in I’ll give you a tour of what we have going on in here so this is our like our functional Rehabilitation space a lot of guys come in before and after practice to get some Mobility a foam roll they stretch or
They do their maintenance plans really cool part or a piece about this um location is the alter G so the anti-ra treadmill really cool piece for us to use early on the rehabilitation or return to sport process we can unload up to 20% of your body weight to help you
Run and get moving faster in a regular treadmill so you come over here we have about 108,000 Square ft of usable space in this facility between foam rollers the Kaiser machine and all of our rehab equipment we come down this way we’ll have six taping decks for our student
Athletes to use for any of their taping needs and then a little further down the room we have 18 treatment tables we’ll redo all of our Hands-On manual therapy up here on my left we have an in-house dentist office where our Dental students make all of our mouth guards or any
Consultations we may need with the dentist down this back hall we have three Physicians offices so our physicians are here pretty much 5 days a week we have an in-house floros scope which is uh just a quick x-ray if we need a quick picture before and after
Practice before we um send you off and on your way to make sure everything is uh good to go we have two sensory deprivation float tanks use this a lot of times for our concussion recovery or any um just general overall body recovery about an hour in the float tank
Is it put to 4 hours of sleep which is really cool piece for us and our student athletes finally down this back hall we have the hydrotherapy Suite we have two INR uh plunge hot and cold tanks which our guys love for the recovery aspect we have two extremity pools and a
Underwater treadmill with cameras on each side so we can watch gate patterns um and for a lot of our ACL recoveries um this is a really awesome space for all of our guys to use before after practice it is it is a great resource Welcome to the Jean Smith strength conditioning Center here in the Shoemaker Athletic Complex T car the guys would call me coach carp so we’re going to take you on a quick tour of this weight room first stop here as we walk through actually is our four-way neck machine or five-way neck Machin is
We can shrug on it as well really important tool for our men’s lacrosse athletes we say thick necks cash checks so we spend a lot of time in this area so as we continue to make our way around here we actually have 32 rackson platforms around this whole weight room
We have 53 men on our roster with men’s lacrosse right now and they can come in here and they can train and there is so much breathing room we actually can have other teams in here at the exact same time they kind of stay on their side of
The room men’s lacrosse is all the way down the middle what I really like about sort of this way that we lay it out with all of our athletes being on the power rack side is that they’re facing in towards one another and because of that their energy is really feeding off of
Each other are really when they looking at each other as soon as you step out of that squat rack you’re looking at a teammate that’s going through something very similar on the other side yelling at them getting them fired up the Buckeye barber shop where obviously in
The Buckeye locker room right now in the back corner is the buck Barber Shop our guy LP hooking it up with cuts in Elite spot to get a nice Cut what’s your favorite Tradition at Ohio State Ohio state has just a ooes tradition one of my favorites I would probably have to
Say is the varsity jacket you know and I know you have one I always told you don’t go giving that to suie now they get their first Varsity letter here at the Ohio State University they get this beautiful letter jacket that hasn’t changed in design in in years I think my
Favorite Buckeye tradition is after home games and and home wins doing the Ohio with the families and the crowd that travel to the [Applause] games ripping the oh to the stands after every home game I mean gets the fans involved and it’s always like a special
Moment after a win so especially the big ones I’d probably say the golden Buckey I think that’s something that just reminds you that you’re in the greatest College rivalry in all of College athletics probably calling team up north team up north I don’t know it’s just something special about it you know
There’s like no other rivalry in college sports at all about it so I think that’s really special to have here I think the hard hat the Hammer as well I think the hard hat and Hammer are are great traditions of this program we’re having
Uh the new guys learn one of one of the songs that we’ll sing after every uh win and so I think hearing those guys try and uh go through and memorize that and you’re going to have to perform it kind of in front of friends and family for
The first time it is cool and it’s just a a team bonding thing where those guys can kind of learn a little bit of History tradition here at Ohio State and kind of take one step closer to to to Really being a Buckeye who’s been the most impactful teammate you’ve had in your career most impactful teammate I’d have to say you know probably Jack Myers he was our captain last year so I’ve always been a couple years younger than him looked up to him as a leader not only is he a
Great lacrosse player and sets the the bar high on on the lacrosse field but he’s a great person and and someone you just love to be around so I think coming in being able to grow close with him look up to him as a role model and
Leader but also be good close friends with him off the field and get to know him on a personal level has played a huge part in my life life and really growing my Buckeye experience here probably going to be uh Jack Myers last year he was my captain both years and I
Mean just learning from his play style and his leadership style to help me grow as a person and a player I think the most impactful teammate I’ve had was definitely Jack Myers as soon as we strapped up the helmet on uh Monday through Friday or on Game Day Jack was
Always intense he was serious and uh he was a great leader and I uh I look up to him a lot as I’m a captain this year you guys really just made the experience incredible all 5 years Berger right here but there’s just a ton of people that
Make the experience awesome going to be excited to cheer for you guys this year and hope all the [Applause] best bro I’m trying to sleep bro here we are Folks by Van bur I’m a 44 there’s no way you putting this on F no shot all right we’re here freshman dorms at the

Is all said and done here what do you want people to say about Coach Nick Meers you know you want to leave it better than you found it for all the men that are going to be back here tomorrow you know you got Mr Shelby from the 1949
Team as I mentioned playing in the outing all the way through guys that graduated last year so I look at this group of this fraternity of Buckey lacrosse players and I think about that Stadium we just got done it’s so much more than a stadium it’s symbolic of our
Brotherhood of all those that have come before us it’s a classroom this is our first Fall using the stadium this is a time of year you can remember remember I’d like to think people remember me as someone that served and really just his love for you know the Brotherhood and
For Bucky the cross um that that would be something I would hope people would say these guys up TJ you go light Myers you go dark light dark all right light dark good all right we got light over on this side dark down there take your [Applause] sidelines How we [Applause] Doing yeah yeah head coach ref he can do it all people want to know why you’re not playing um I just wanted to leave it all the field my last game I gave it everything I got I don’t think I have it in me to continue and you know me better
That I’m not going to accept that as I know what are The Vibes like today golf was good golf was great I think my favorite part of the weekend was the golf getting out there to meet alumni I was with Kyle Andrews a legend he was great he matched our energy serve our
Country right being out here in this environment against these guys it doesn’t get any better now doesn’t get any better it’s it’s just amazing I mean I played here 77 through 80 and we didn’t have any kind of facilities and I’m looking at what these guys have now
And how what the alumni do to come back and what coach Myers has done for this program it’s it’s a top program in in the country it’s in the top few programs in the country I can’t imagine a kid not want to come here and play this is going
To be 75 years of Buckeye lacrosse this spring and we had Mr Shelby there from 1949 team and you said it man we got guys from the 80s 7s 60s and for the first time ever we’re playing in our new home here in the fall you know football
Season here at house they got a home game tomorrow here we are playing the field with the cross it’s home man it feels great this our home so I think it’s great to just celebrate it uh it’s been an amazing weekend so far it’s here for Coach Meers thank you thank
You this is [Applause] [Applause] awesome what can we expect out of the Ohio State men’s lacrosse team this year we are ready to restore Buckeye lacrosse to the platform and this the standard that we know it should be at each and every year you can expect that we chase our very best every single time we step
On the field it’s really about giving Relentless effort leaving it all out in the field and doing it for uh our teammates a team that’s Relentless playing simple and fast getting up and down the field and just willing to take anyone to the wire we’re a group that’s going to be underappreciated or
Undervalued but we’re going to come up with a a fight and a chip on our shoulder you know we always want to be the toughest Team every time we’re out on the field in between the white lines we want to give Relentless effort every single time we’re out in the field and
Just a compete level that’s different than anyone else in the country there’s a lot to expect this year we we’ve been working on building our team identity and we have a lot of new Talent a lot of new faces so we all are determined to take this program to places it’s never
Been and I think you can expect a really hungry team this year definitely a lot of hungry guys in here a lot of new faces but I’m I’m really excited to see where we go you can expect a group that wants to win more than anything I think
We’re hungry and like we’re working towards our goals and we want to achieve them I think we have such a close group uh such a better well-rounded team that we have in the past years I think this year is really going to be special yeah
You can expect a very fast play I feel like we have a really fast team a lot of athletic guys the defense with an edge just playing with a chip on their shoulder and just an aggressive team in general you’re going to see a team that’s hungry you know a team that’s
Coming off the season that competitively missed the mark uh you’re going to see a group of men that love each other you’re going to see a group of men that’s going to lay it out there in the line every time we compete and you’re going to see
A group of men that’s going to make this University and athle B proud both on and off the field can you reenact one of Coach Myers’s best on liners best on liners wow coach mys will always say you know what I don’t like
That I love it I don’t like it I love it it’s like a ham sandwich you did every day for lunch and it doesn’t get old we’re going to play Simple and fast now don’t get me wrong simple’s not easy but it’s important come on juice me up you
Know I’m fired up I’m fired up he’s going to attack this kind of hard right now for sure he would just ask me like what are you doing like Monday morning and film after a lot of games my sophomore year I actually got the nickname Cowboy because I would go off
The menu and and do some things I wasn’t supposed to in games and he would just shake his head and ask what I was doing I really didn’t have a good answer so we’ll forever remember it all right I need we need Clarity all right Clarity I
Need 100% Clarity all right no gray area I love that no gray area I love that thank you [Applause] let’s go let’s go go go
