Hello everyone, my name is Ayana Boyd and I am the president of the National Pan-hellenic Council here at Michigan. I am a current senior studying cognitive science and I am here today to give you a little insight of what my counsel is and what we do. The NPHC is a greek organization
Council that houses nine historical black sororities and fraternities. Although the official NPHC was founded in 1930, we have many sororities and fraternities founded before then. The overall purpose of the NPHC is to govern and unite the nine organizations. We do this through
A series of workshops, volunteer experiences, and bi-weekly council meetings. We as a council continue to grow together on a personal and professional level. We allow people with little to no leadership position to step up and take a position because everyone has to start somewhere.
We value community service. We not only want to better ourselves but the community around us. Lastly, being a part of a NPHC organization does not limit you to making friends in your own organization; it gives you the chance to build relationships across eight other organizations.
Being a part of FSL, overall, has bettered me as a person. When I first joined I was young and naive (that’s really the best way I can describe it). But over the last two years I’ve learned so much about myself and so much about the world around me.
I’ve learned to be a great leader. Now here I am as the NPHC president. I encourage you all to just look us up. We have a page on the FSL website and you can also find more information about us
On our Instagram, which is nphc_umich. Thank you all, hope to see you soon. Bye!
