On November 8th and 9th, UGA Miracle, the largest student-run organization on campus and the official UGA Greek Life philanthropy organization, held their Beyond Limits fundraising campaign. The 26.2-hour event culminated in a total reveal outside Sanford Stadium, where it was announced that they raised $218,377.58 for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
The annual Beyond Limits campaign encourages each of UGA Miracle’s members to strive to go further to fundraise for their cause. This year, some students found creative ways to collect donations, from selling homemade baked goods to wearing silly costumes to class in exchange for donations. Members gathered throughout the day in their ‘Hype room’, a room at Tate Student Center dedicated to celebrating each other’s accomplishments through games, music, and dancing.
The inspiration for this campaign comes from the brave children treated at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, who go Beyond Limits each day to overcome the challenges of their diagnoses. This year, members were encouraged to raise at least $150, and leadership members were encouraged to raise $1,050, in honor of the brand new 1.5 million square foot Arthur M. Blank Hospital being built as part of the Children’s system. By the end of the event, 201 people hit their set goal.
The money raised this week comes as part of the over $13 million lifetime funds UGA Miracle has raised for Children’s. That money has been transformative for the hospital, funding the UGA Miracle Aquatic Therapy Pool and countless other resources for Rehabilitation Services and the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center.
While members celebrate this week’s accomplishments, they continue planning their flagship event, Dance Marathon, which will occur on February 25th and 26th, 2024.
