Out as well my advice will not guarantee you admission into your organization of choice but it will definitely help maximize your chances to get there but in today’s video I’m going to be talking about how you can be a leader on your campus a lot of people miss out on great
Opportunities to be lean so I’m going to explain different student leadership positions to help you be more marketable to NPHC organizations but it will also help you be more marketable to jobs internships this video will help you out out here even if you’re not interested in NPHC

Crew y’all know what we do let’s get Okay so the first thing I want to say is you want to get involved early the earlier you get involved the better so if you’re a freshman make sure you start getting involved as a freshman don’t wait the sophomore year now you don’t have to tack on three or four
Organizations or three or four during leadership positions but you can tack on at least one be a part of something it don’t have to be something big be a part of something I get started like get started with that whole organizational phase freshman year don’t just go to
Class and parties know go to class you can go to parties you can study also be a part at least one or two organizations as a freshman is it will really help your trajectory while you’re in college okay so the first way you can get
Involved to be a student leader is to be a orientation leader a lot of schools have where they have these students that will lead a orientation group don’t do this come in for orientation they’re talking with current students about their experiences about their transition from high school to college about
Studying about classes they will go over the whole nine yards with students so if you have the opportunity to become an orientation leader on your campus definitely take advantage of that opportunity because you’re really helping mold these students into college students slowly or at least start getting that mindset this is a great
Time for you to at least say hey this is what college is like and this is the mindset you need to have before you enroll in this ball is it not you’re gonna fail you’re flunking you ain’t gonna know what you’re doing and then I told you so and then you’re gonna be
Like that I should have listened to that orientation leader and if you could get an orientation leader position it would definitely definitely help you be more marketable to MPAC organization the reason I say this is because you’re talking to students at a very early age a lot of MPAC organizations don’t get
That opportunity so for example if you’re an orientation leader and then and you happen to get into the MPAC organization of your choice and you continue being an orientation leader just by you when this wristband are you wearing a shirt during orientation or something that’s marketing for MPAC
Organization and if you leave a great impact on say one student in your group one student they might be interested in that same organization or they might support that organization as soon as they step foot on campus because they remember you and how great you was as a Student Orientation leader these are
Things that you got to think about whenever you’re trying to join MPAC organization slice how can I be more marketable to a MPAC organization how can I make them want me and the things I’m telling you today will help you with that process okay so the next way to be
A student leader on campus is to be a student ambassador I was a student ambassador on my campus but how it’s doing ambassador for my major but you could be a suit ambassador for your major or for the university as a whole usually university student ambassadors
Are the ones that given tours to you know guests and families coming to university you know they usually speak at different events for the president they get to go to some big-name stuff as student ambassadors so you can be a student ambassador I would say that’s the top leadership position you can have
At a university if your university have student ambassadors think about it you’re leading a tour of about let’s say 20 students and parents if you’re leading that tour you’re the first face they’re seeing for that university so you have to be enthusiastic you have to be outgoing you have to be knowledgeable
About university so those three things can take you far if you have those three traits right there I can definitely make you markable to an MPA C organization and plus you get to see the students before they actually apply lobby students coming on tours they’re trying
To see if they actually want to apply if it’s worth applying to university but if you can change their decision and you can be the ambassador make them be like hey I want to apply to this College if you could be that ambassador and really make an impact that’s powerful and
Another way to get involved is student government and I know y’all probably know about student government student body president you got the treasurer you got your vice president you got your secretary you got all kind of stuff that helped bring different initiatives to university that helped voice different
Opinions that they’ve heard from other students and just to be a voice for the whole student body if you’re in student government it can definitely help you get into an MPA C organization because that organizational structure you already know about hierarchy that’s one big thing about MPAC organizations you have to know
About hierarchy you have to know who you respond to who does this who does that what’s the president do all that which I would do a video about that pretty soon and also not just hierarchy knowledge you will also have a seat at the table to get stuff done specially if your
Student body president if the MPA see organizations have a member that’s the student body president they blade yo this issue what’s going on on campus and we need to do this and this president can help push that initiative but help push those problems to the higher-ups
And make a change you know it’s great to have a seat at the table and anybody in student government you’re currently having a seat at the table with decisions being made on a student body level so why wouldn’t NPHC organizations be interesting especially if you have good qualities and traits now not just
Because you’re in student government or any of these student leadership positions I’m saying you should be granted admission but it can definitely help you get into the organization just by being that leader on campus and oh and also with student government I gotta say freshmen council where you be the
Voice for the freshman you know I’m saying freshmen coming in they see something like that let’s make a change you’d be that voice so make sure you look up that as well student government freshman Council look it up alright so here’s another way to get it ball right

Come in from high school and now they moved into their dorm they need someone to look up to they need a leader and that be you making sure they’re getting integrated on campus integrated in the Residence Hall you’ll be making sure these games going on they’re interacting
With other dorm mates dorm suite mates all that you will come up with different programs that help the whole community in that residence hall or at least on your floor so this is a important a very important leadership position because you will be able to mold these students
As well like a lot of these positions your motor students and helping them become the best student possible but this position right here you with them all the time because you’ll be living there you’ll be in the hall with them you will be pretty much the face that
They see all the time you will be pushing the rules and regulations as well so you’ll be their friend and then you’ll be the bad guy sometimes but they will look up to you because you’ll be that position of authority if you really observe NPHC organizations on your campus returnees and sororities heck
Even MDC you realize that a lot of these members are part of some of these do the leadership groups that are named if you become a part of these they have members in these student leadership positions you get to be friends with them and that
Can help you out too so win-win it is a win-win all right and my next one is create your organization a pioneer on your campus breath I can be don’t see any organizations you’re interested in but you see that another school have an organization but the current school you
Have don’t happen be a pioneer and get that organization started on your campus maybe it’s a FBLA maybe you did FBLA in high school and they don’t have a FBLA chapter that you’re in at your university get a chapter starting get FBLA started at your campus it takes work to get different organizations
Started to get interests all that it takes work do you have the ability to do that of course it’ll look marketable to NPHC organization some get something started be a pioneer my next one is a student job a lot of times people sleep on this they think a student job is just
A job you’re just making money if you have a student job a lot of times these staff members can help you get to different leadership positions within the university and within the student job like I was a building attendant one time in our Student Union then I moved up to
The manager and that automatically made me a leader just within the Student Union and just within my area so it just it just depends so make sure that your student job used as opportunity to be a leader because a lot of times people sleep on that especially if you’re
Working for house you might be an office assistant you know I’m saying but hey you might be the only one with the keys to all the dorms that’s leadership because they have to trust you in some type of capacity that follow the rules and not just be going in any
And everybody dorm cuz you got the keys and I was saying so take advantage of it take advantage of it and make it into a leadership position my last thing I’m going to talk about is graduate chocolate interest if you’re interested in graduate chapter of course you can’t
Be an orientation leader student and all that note but you can’t get involved in the community be a leader in the community y’all be on account for the elite erected church be a leader on a volunteer group for Salvation Army Relay for Life be a leader in the community
Cuz the Graduate chapter will not only be looking forward to green not only look at you know what jobs you have all kind of stuff like that but they will also see what type of leader you are in a community and how you’re currently giving back so make sure if you’re
Interested in graduate chapter you start trying to find ways you can be an asset to the community and then the Graduate chapter will see that especially on your application and that will make you more marketable but that’s it for this video I hope that helped y’all out I hope some
