Crew so today we’re gonna be talking about what happens to membership dues so let’s say you made it online now you gotta pay some fees you got to pay some fees and get that all squared away before you can officially do whatever you have to do and I’ll talk about
Membership dues as far as if you’re already in an organization where that money goes to because some people might be like well what I got to pay what do I have Wow Wow well i’ma let y’all know in this video so make sure you stay tuned hit that
Like button let’s get into the video Okay so let’s say you are online right now you have to pay a couple grand you know saying you got this out that money you got this out them coins hitting 30 37 38 so what happens to that money well when you say my knuckle just crack
Without me even no one like damn so what happens to that money when you’re online the chapter and the national you know headquarters will know exactly where certain funds will be allocated but let’s say the membership dues is a thousand dollars let’s say Nationals will get about five hundred let’s say
They get five hundred and then that means the rest of the five hundred will go towards the chapter well that five hundred will now be split between different needs of the chapter so maybe the five hundred might be for wardrobe for the probate or the five hundred might be to buy everybody online
You know some Nelia for the five hundred might be a chapter assessment fee that goes into the chapter account so the chapter can have fun it’s a lot of times people think their funds just go straight to the chapter or straight to Nationals Nationals doesn’t necessarily
Take all of the money the chapter will get some of that money as well so like I said they can you know keep their chapter running and keep things and keep programs going cuz you know you need money to get programs going you can’t just run programs without money you
Can’t just have parties without money you can’t do events like tailgate or galas and stuff like that without money some of those funds will go into the chapter bank account and then some of those funds can go towards you know know your for two new members now now all
Chapters will use those funds for know your for the new members some chapters will just put all the money into the chapter account that way they can have money to host several events that upcoming semester or not so but some chapters take it upon themselves by
Nilly to buy you know jackets for the whole line use some of that money my t-shirts to use some of that money to you know just biotype inelia as like gifts to you all now whenever it goes to Nationals of course the National Organization has bills they have to pay
I don’t know exactly that side of it but they use it for you know what they gotta do to keep the fraternities and sororities running I don’t want you all to think that your money is going elsewhere or somewhere that’s not you know it’s not being taken care of now
When it comes to membership dues of course every chapter is not going to have the same fee every organization’s not gonna have the same fee it’s gonna be a different fee could range between I don’t know a thousand to thirty five hundred four thousand I don’t know make
Sure that whenever you do pay your membership dues that you get an itemized receipt get that out of my receipt and make sure they give you that itemized receipt so you can know where your money going so you can know how much money is born in Nationals how much money is
Going to the chapter where the money that’s going to the chapter is going and they should be able to provide that to you because you know we’re professional we want to provide you were to receive we’re not just gonna take that much money from you and then not give you a
Receipt or they should so make sure you get that receipt so you know exactly where your money is going you don’t want you just dished out a thousand dollars does not know where the money is going just going in a space somewhere like you need to know because that’s a huge sum
Of money that’s under grad now when it comes to graduate chapter of course there’s other things that needs to be taken care of graduate chapters usually hosts way more events or make way more high skill events let me say that way more high skill events so golf tournament big galas community-wide
Events like they need a lot of money to function and run they give a bunch of scholarships to different schools in the community so they need money for that so it might be a little bit higher for Grad chapter but they should be able to give you an itemized receipt as well because
You need to know exactly where that money they don’t give you a lot of miles receipt the noon and that’s a little fishy you’re not saying I wouldn’t trust it like that but if they don’t ask for one if they say now we can’t do that then I
Don’t know what they’re doing with your money to be honest but um but but this shady people out here so you got to make sure you protect your assets protect your funds protect it because the shady people are you you can’t trust everybody unfortunately so make sure you safeguard
Where your money is going now with that being said a lot of people think that whenever they cross or whenever they you know join a organization go you know go through initiation have the probate that they’re automatically going to give gifts from the chapter it doesn’t necessarily work like that it don’t like
I don’t know why people always think oh when I cross they don’t give me this they’re gonna give me that I’m gonna get this I’m gonna get that not all chapters do that is up to the chapters up to the discretion of the chapter now one thing
That at least were five bit of Sigma of course some of our money goes to Nationals but we also get a five bit of Sigma pin so it’s like a little lapel pin with pearls real gold in the itemized receipt will see that a certain amount of money has been taken out for
That so that’s one thing that we get just by joining I don’t know if other organizations do that probably so but you know you don’t expect the chapter to automatically give you some Nereus like a shirt a Tiki or something like that don’t automatically expect it because it doesn’t necessarily always work like
That you know our organizations are businesses at the end they have bills to pay they have different things that they need to you know make sure they have in check in order to keep the chapter running or in order to keep the whole organization going so don’t always think
That you’re going to get know you from the chapter or the organization when you join cuz that’s not always the case especially maybe smaller chapters they might not have as much funds in the bank and you know they might need the funds that they’re getting from the new
Members in order to build that bank account up to in order to have some more events on campus so please please please please go in you know what a blank slate don’t go in expecting anything because you never know what state that chapter is in that
You’re trying to join so just want to put that out there as well another thing when it comes to membership fees people always be like well how long do I have to pay these sad fees like do I have a whole week do they give me a few days a
Month I don’t know it really depends on the organization you know sometimes I’ve heard where some organizations you get online once you get online you can start the educational process different things like that you need to have the money between the next two weeks sometimes people organizations need it before the
Process actually start sometimes organizations set up payments for their new members so it just depends but make sure you understand that before you know you start in this process or before you know you get selected or maybe that could be an interview question you know I’m saying if you get selected for
Interview ask them like okay so if I’m selected or you know lucky enough to get into this organization how long will I have to pay those membership fees or how long will I have or is it a payment plan different things like that because those
Are things you need to know cuz if you need to collect that money and have that money for within a week then you know you gonna have to yeah unless you gotta like that unless you ballin unless you spending the refund checks and stuff
Like that and a you you got it but if not then you need to make sure you know ahead of time so you don’t get hit in the face and be like dang I said ask that question cuz I could have been prepared but like I tell everybody if
You know you’re interested in MPAC organization and you know you might be going to interest meeting an informational session or something pretty soon or later on in the future just start saving just start saving money just put fifty dollars aside put twenty-five dollars aside every month
Every other week like put it aside and let that collect so that way whenever you get selected or if you get selected you already have let’s say five hundred dollars collected and maybe the membership deuces thousand all you gotta do is get five hundred from there like just start that collection cuz you
Don’t want nothing to sneak up on you you don’t want to work you don’t want to work this hard to get to know the members to go to their events go to the forms and get your resume right go to the IG get selected for an interview get
Through the interview they select you to be online and now they like okay now you gotta shout this money you’re like dang I ain’t got the money and you’re gonna be upset with yourself because you didn’t prepare ahead of time it’s always good to have a little bit of something
Rather than a little bit of nothing you know I’m saying I don’t even I don’t care if this $200 that you saved up that will take away from the thousand you know I say so make sure you’re prepared in that regard because those membership fees will rise up on you real imma talk
To all the folks that are members your members of these organizations so where is your money going whenever you pay these membership dues to Nationals and different things like that well i’ma tell you this right here a lot of people think that fraternities sororities you pay this one-time fee and it’s over like
You’ve done you pay your membership fee to get in and it’s over now man most of the time most of attorneys and sororities if you’re new members and you don’t have to pay fees for the next two years at least that’s how it was four or
Five Beta Sigma I don’t know if it’s like that for other organs they wasn’t a year was it two years it might have been a year it might have been two years but once you become a new member you know you don’t have to pay any national dues
For two years after that two years is up then you start paying your national Goo’s yearly but once you get into a Horgan’s that you have to pay those dues yearly and then you have to pay a chapter assessment fee so let’s say you’re in an undergrad chapter most like
Your undergrad chapter be like okay every semester we’ll need a hundred dollars from our members you’re a grad chapter they might be like a yearly fee for our grand chapter is $200 I don’t know so you have to pay that $200 and you have to pay the national fees
Combine that and that’s what you’ll be paying yearly and I saying so it’s not cheap it’s not cheap to be in a fraternity or sorority that’s why a lot of people take it so seriously because they’re paying this money and they’re looking for a certain experience and they’re paying for this money and
They’re looking for something to get out of the fraternity or sorority so that’s why we take you seriously because we’re not only just you know helping the community not just only you know trying to network and do all this good stuff we’re paying in order to get something out of it as
Well and to keep these organizations going in order for us to keep helping the community in order for us to keep everything that we have going on positively going on in in the community and ice and so it’s not free it’s not cheap so make sure you think about that
