I’m talking to the one who just LED Notre Dame to a season finale win against Stanford he played linebacker for the Chicago Bears the Buffalo Bills and the Houston Texans and oh yeah he went to Ohio State and coached there as well I’m talking about the one that the
Ladies go crazy for on Tik Tock Marcus Freeman welcome to the show Coach RG3 appreciate you having me on man it’s a an honor no the honor is absolutely mine uh and really just watching the video back of of you getting announced as the new head coach there at Notre Dame it
What gave me chills because the way that your team responded to that moment and I know you’ve talked about it but how did that make you feel when you come in the room and you tell your guys all right guys I’m going to be the next head coach
At Notre Dame and they react that way what does that do to you on the inside yeah it’s an undescribable feeling um what a rush man that that very few moments in life you get that adrenaline rush and uh that would be obviously be a moment I I remember forever but um more
Than anything I hope it’s a reflection of a group of guys that trusted this guy that was just named their head coach like they didn’t choose me and and um I was named head coach and that that response you see is a a bunch of guys
That trusted that this is the right guy to lead this program so uh what an amazing feeling that was no it was phenomenal to see and and when you guys come out now and you you win this game against Stanford 56 to 23 just what was the biggest difference for you in in
Last year’s performance of the team and then coming into this year well I think as you look back at the Stanford game in particular last year um we had lost two games in a row to start the season we lost Ohio State and Marshall and I’m
Sitting in my office I don’t know if we ever we ever win a game then we win three in a row and um I’m like I figured it out I got it and then we lose to Stanford 14 to 16 and that was just a difficult moment because that game means
So much to this University you talk about two similar universities and the values it has in its education the Athletics program and uh we it’s a rivalry game for us we played for the Legends Trophy and to know that we failed that that game um that was a big
Motivation for mine as I led this team uh this week in preparation for this Stanford game I wanted the the guys you know there were guys that were weren’t here when that happened um there were guys that you know that that truly didn’t understand and my job was to make
Sure they understand the importance of this game and what it took toh have success and so um to be able to come out on the the right side of this year and the way we did it uh was was a really fulfilling feeling no you say that and
It just brings back memories for me of like I call it get your bike back games Okay 201 2010 we got shellacked by TCU it was a bad experience you know we’re walking off the field fans are heckling us and everything so we come back in
2011 first game of the year on national TV on a Friday and uh we got our bike back we went out we didn’t blow him out like you guys did to Stanford but we got up on him quick then had to come back late in the game and win after we gave
Up a big lead but I know how much that meant to to like our guys in the locker room so I’m more than sure for you guys it meant the same thing but coach I got to give you I got to just pour some Praise on you because I thought the way
That you re responded last year to the start that you guys had said a lot about you uh as a man and as a leader that you were able to get your team back on the right track what do you think it was um that allowed you to do that and get
Those guys to actually still believe in the mission that you were on uh going eight and4 last year and then how that buil into this year going 9 and3 yeah I think the first thing was you had to make sure every time you walked out of this office um you had the utmost
Confidence in who you were as a leader in the direction of this program and although sometimes in this office you shut the door and you wonder what’s going on we’re 0 and two or we’re three and three um I never wanted to portray that to the players I wanted them to
Know that hey we’re making the necessary changes we need to to to have an outcome that we want but also you have to trust the things that we’re doing right and part of that for me was evaluating why why why we didn’t start the way we
Wanted to and what were the things we changed towards the end of the season to to final fin finally finish off this season last year 9 and4 in a bowl game Victory and so I took those lessons that I learned as we go into this year and
And you know we we obviously had a great quarterback uh and Sam Harman and you know we start off the season 4-0 right then we lose a a tough one to Ohio State where um there’s so many plays in that game if you make one of them the outcome
Is different and then we go and we beat Duke in a a tight game that came down to the last second and then we lose to Louisville and at that time we didn’t know Louisville was going to be the Louisville that it was right now and
Then we lost another one to Clemson and and the thing that I’m continuing to evaluate is like what we have to do is become a program that wins those close games right we can’t lose to a a really good Clemson team that their their their record maybe at the time didn’t reflect
That but I remember talking to coach Sweeney before the game and I said the reality is you guys are three or four plays away from being seven and one instead of four- four and he said I know he said I know and um our job though is
To make sure we win those close games we don’t lose to Ohio state by by two we don’t lose to Clemson by eight um you know and and those are the things that I’m always evaluating how do we make sure it’s cause and effect you know what
I mean it’s cause and effect and we got to make sure we have the right to get the effect we want no I mean you’re your spot on there and watching you guys throughout the year I felt the same way and and you know this haven’t played the
You know played football and now being a great coach yourself it’s always one or two plays that can really determine a season and I think for you uh Dave Clawson came out I think it was last week and and he had some things to say about Sam Hartman the quarterback
That you guys have and and how you only dated him for a little bit but you guys love him right uh so obviously give you the opportunity to to respond like what was your thoughts of what coach Clawson had to say you know I got a lot of
Respect for him um we got a chance to visit pregame and uh we actually talked after the game um he is a a wealth of knowledge I got a lot of respect for him again he’s on the other side of of an opportunity we were able to capitalize
On and so um I’m just proud of our team I’m proud of the ability to to have a guy like Sam Hartman believe in what we’re doing and lead in this program and this offense and so I don’t have anything negative to say about him I have a lot
Of respect for Coach Clawson that didn’t expect anything different from you and that answer about what coach Clawson had to say but it does bring into question for me uh because I know you’re always going to keep it real 100% the transfer portal and how that has changed college
Football uh what’s your approach to it I know you guys went and got Sam Hartman you’ve gotten other guys through the portal um how did you try to use use that to build your roster you know the foundation of our roster will always be built through High School recruiting and
Um that’s something I have a lot of pride in and and but there are you know core positions and and needs that we have as a football program that we have to go into the portal and and really get those those needs that we have and so um
That’s where it’s beneficial for us um to be able to be very specific in the needs we have now the other side of that is losing your players to the portal right and that’s never an easy thing I love everyone these guys dearly and to
See them go um is not an easy thing to do but as I tell them in my office when they tell me that they’re deciding to leave and is that I’ll always support you I might disagree with your decision but I’ll always um love you and support
You and so um you know it just wasn’t something for us um back when we played that we had that option right it wasn’t a transfer portal you know you had to sit out a year if you did transfer and um now there’s the option right and um
Right there’s a lot of Pros to it right but then there’s the cons of you know a lot of times at times when things get uncomfortable and things get hard and and you have to wait a little bit to to get that gratification that you want
There’s that portal that you can go hop into and try to go find uh another road another University and as I tell them there’s there’s bumps in every road you go right it isn’t going to be easier just because you choose a different University um there’s going to be
Challenges everywhere you go and so don’t make that decision based off you think there’s an easier opportunity right make that decision because you think this is the right one for you exactly and I and I understand both sides of it right as a player maybe you
Go somewhere I know when I was in college if the portal was available um there would have probably been some some some teams that tried to pluck me away from Bor now Baylor was the best thing that ever happened to me and my family my journey ended up the way that God had
It to be just like your journey is going to end up the way God has it to be and Sam Hartman and everyone in between but I do also think that the portal changes the way coaches have had to coach and how they have to recruit their own
Players do you agree with that sentiment I agree with the way you have to recruit your own players um I don’t want the portal to entice our coaches to be buddies to be nice guys I want you to be authentic to who you are but your job as
A coach is to get these individuals to reach their full potential and that’s just not through X’s and O’s it’s through relationship building and if you can build that trust now the player will understand that hey this coach has my best interest in mind and I will reach
My full potential no matter how he coaches me but I don’t want the the threat of a young person leaving our program to make us unauthentic right we have to be authentically who we are um at the same time have that relationship with those players I think that’s where
It’s at I think it’s the relationship building that I think has actually increased due to the transfer portal because if a guy’s going through something tough and he knows that Marcus Freeman has his back and that he’s going to do what’s best for for for him and
Also the team they’ll be more they’ll be less likely to just jump in the portal and say see you later when things do get tough the one thing that I know me and you both experienced in college whether it was ourselves or with some of our teammates was you get told all these
Things in the recruiting process oh you’re gonna play quarterback you’re G to get this amount of opportunities and then you get on campus and immediately you’re a safety or you’re a wide receiver and back in my time in your time we couldn’t transfer out and we had
To sit out an extra year well now that’s not necessarily the case so I feel like the portal has made some coaches either honor what they told a player they were going to do or at least honor giving them that opportunity you know you play quarterback if you don’t do it very well
Then you’re a great athlete you go to wide receiver it is what it is but now because the athlete kind of has a little more quote unquote power over their own destiny it’s made coaches have to be more selective I feel like in what they tell these guys and what they promise
Them do you agree with that I do I do I think the core belief the core for me the core value you’re talking about is honesty and um if you say something in recruiting you better be honest because the minute you lose their trust right watch out that’s where the young people
Are going to leave but if you say something be a man of your word we cannot lose um the trust of these players and so um it might not be what they want to hear all the time but I think Honesty goes a long way I tell our
Coaches all the time you have to be if you don’t plan on playing player in the game tell him if you want to get him in the third series he better be in the third series because if you lose that trust and you tell him something you’re
Not honest and you lose that trust it’s really hard to get it back yeah and I think you you articulating that it was so perfect because that that’s where the game has to be and I felt like that’s where it was lacking just a little bit
And now you take the transfer portal and you pour nil on top of it just what’s been your approach to nil and how does that kind of change the dynamic of college football all together yeah I think the reality is that everybody talks you know and and there are no
Secret conversations and you have to be honest and you have to make sure that um you know every conversation you have as a coach or or um the nio opportunities that your players make are going to be communicated and um you got to make sure it’s fair you got to make sure it’s
Right and uh you know I think that’s that is a unique dynamic in terms of college sports now where the business side is coming into uh into play right is that um players are making decisions based on what schools provide um nil opportunities for them to capitalize off
Of and um that’s listen I don’t complain about it because I think Notre Dame is a unique place where you’re going to maximize your name image and likeness because of the brand because of the recogn the recognization that we get um being at Notre Dame and so uh I don’t
Complain too much about it but it is a part of sports and you’re 100% right and it’s a big reason reason why you guys were able to bring in a guy like Sam Hartman but do you think that the college football game itself is better or worse because of the transfer portal
And nil for the players I think it’s better right I think they’re able to to maximize off of you know sometimes the the most elite status they have in in athletics right sometimes guys in college are are at a status that is way above what they’re at in the NFL and for
Those players to Capital off of it um during college good for them right and and I’m sure you would have been a guy that the name image and likeness opportunity for you through the roof but does it is it better for our sport I don’t know I don’t not when you have
Young people making decision based off of where they can get the most nil opportunities that’s not that’s where college sports has really kind of taken a turn I’m always receptive to uh the idea and having those conversations because I think it’s it’s okay to have like a A disagreeance or differing of
Opinion um I for one believe that College athletics has taken advantage of student athletes for many many generations so this is kind of just the system correcting itself a little bit but the one thing that I have noticed is there’s a a feeling in my from what I
Watch on tape and what I see that there’s more par in the game right now yeah of college football yeah because of the transfer portal and because of nil uh it almost feels like free agency every single offseason for you guys with the way the guys are changing rosters
And going to different places I mean I saw JT Daniels quarterback I think he’s played for like 10 teams you know he he bounced around everywhere going to rice in the West Virginia in Georgia in USC and I’m like man how many times can these guys transfer I’m looking at
Rosters and I’ve called games for three different dudes at three different schools that part of it has been a little worrisome for me and the question I have for you on top of that because obviously I’m making that statement you’re not the question I have for you
Is I feel like I had a college home you probably feel like you have a college home with Ohio State why why does it feel like the guys in today’s game they can get away from actually having that home yeah I truly understand that you know it’s funny it’s
Like some of these guys that transfer multiple times if they go to the NFL what what school are they going to say when they do their introductions you know um that that I don’t know what that answer is going to be but you know that camaraderie that um Brotherhood that you
Develop in a locker room over time is something that can be unbreakable right and and that at times is what you lose when you get guys that transfer year after year or for one year how do you build that Brotherhood where to me there is power in that right is that when you
Have that bond in love with your teammate um for that school that you know when things get really really hard you find a way to fight through it and so that’s where you know not being at a place for a long time can really hurt a program you said that beautifully it’s
Something that I’ve had conversations with coaches while I’m on on the road this year calling games and you know some are more willing than others to answer some aren’t but it is something that that does concern me about college football and and these guys actually
Having a home so now for you you guys are moving forward um had a successful year you you won more games this year than you did last year which is always the goal what’s your pitch and I I don’t want to say pitch but what’s your pitch
To guys like Sam Hartman and other guys that you have on your roster going into this bowl game that you’re G to have to come back and continue to just to finish it strong because in today’s game we see a lot of opt outs people taking care of
Themselves for the NFL draft whatever it may be but I I feel like your approach is a little different and you want those guys to finish it out and not have like a completely different roster when you get to the Bowl game what’s your pitch
To Sam Hartman to come back and play in the bowl well this is what I told the team in a team meeting um I always start with this is that you know I love you and everybody’s going to make a decision it’s best for them but I want my job as
A head coach is give you my opinion and everybody in this room understood if after we lost to Louisville we’re probably out of the chance to make the playoffs and from that game on there were meaningless games right what people call bowl games or meaningless games and I
Said what makes those games those five six games that we played after l different than this last one right what makes week 12 different than week 13 because we’re unique we don’t play for a conference Championship so some schools you’re chasing a college Champion a conference Championship for us it was
Just hey we’re trying to win as many games as we can and so that’s what I want them to understand this I want you to finish this thing out I want you to finish this season out with your teammates for this program um now the reality is is we’re going to have opt
Outs um just like every other school will have opt outs and and I’ve told mult multiple guys that that you know that made those decisions in the past I disagree but I love you and I support you right I can tell you I disagree I believe you should play in this bowl
Game but I’ll always support you and um that’s the reality of it so Kenny picket starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers called their game in the ACC championship against Wake Forest right uh your favorite guy Dave and and Kenny plays well he has that’s the whole FL the fake slide game gotcha
Well so somehow I get their bow game and he Ops out and the question is like this guy’s gonna be a first- round pick does he play in this game does he get hurt for you do you think there’s like an impact on how NFL teams view some of these guys
If they do end up opting out and not playing in the bowl game you know I I think sometimes those first round picks um they get advised actually by the NFL that says you know know that game really doesn’t mean anything to us but maybe some of those guys that maybe aren’t the
First round picks you know the NFL teams are going to want to know why why you’re not playing why I’ve talked to a young person I was at the combine and it said um he was asked by an NFL scout why didn’t your teammate play in a bow game
Is he not competitive does he not like to compete and and those are questions that those guys that opt out have to answer but at the end of the day Rob these guys have to make their decision for me um I love this football program I love
This University and I want them to feel a sense of ownership to this team and ownership to this un we get a chance to go compete and represent Notre Dame football right this isn’t Marcus Freeman this isn’t any individual this is the University of Notre Dame’s football team
So do you love it enough to come out with us man and help us get a victory because at the end of the day it’s a chance for us to compete and win and we need you to do that I got to tell you a story cuz you just sparked a memory in
My own head and uh it goes back to kind of what we just talked about with like guys having a home and feeling like a responsibility not just to themselves but to their teammates and to their University at Baylor we won we won the Heisman in 2011 and I could have easily
Not played in the bowl game we played in the alamoo Bowl against Washington uh Now Keith Price in that game he was playing like he was D Heisman Trophy winner but that’s neither here nor there the bottom line was I didn’t have to play in that game I was actually advised
By my soon Tobe agent not to play in that game and the reason played in that game coach was we hadn’t won a bowl game in like 18 years and I felt the responsibility to my teammates especially the seniors on the team that we needed to be the ones
That ended that bold drought now we had played in the ball game the previous year and got destroyed uh by Illinois but in this game against Washington I hand the ball off to our running back his name was Jared salubi uh real Shifty guy we used to he had a a an adjective
We called it he was salinized guys because he would Shake him out their cleats right I hand the ball off to him on a typical Zone read and I know you’ve experienced this the quarterback sometimes can become the lead blocker just based off the way the play is run
So I hand it off to salubi and the reason I became the lead blocker coach was because I we almost fumbled the exchange so I’m running behind him making sure he doesn’t fumble The Exchange and he salinized the guy and all of a sudden I’m in front of him now
In that moment I could have easily just said you know what I’m probably gonna be a first round pick I’m gon go ahead and shut it down get out the way but instead I decided to block the safety and I don’t mean block him like you know just
Get in the way I actually Dove to try to cut block the safety ended up springing salubi for a touchdown in the game that was you know it was a deciding factor in US winning that football game no one really says anything about it I’m pumped up I’m excited quarterbacks don’t block
Right so when we get an opportunity we love it and after the game uh I’m talking to coach coach brows and he says you know you didn’t have to play in this game but it was reminiscent or in uh the epitome of who you are as a
Player and why this team loves you because you put it all on the line for your guys for you do you feel like you could have those same types of stories for guys like Sam Hartman and other players that you have on your roster that they’ll be able to look back on and
Say I’m glad I played in that game because that memory that I created with my my teammates will last forever yeah you know I think listen to that story man what a there’s there’s no surprise uh no secret why you you were so successful um your team was successful
When you were the leader um that leadership is so important and when you have a Heisman Trophy winner that has that example others tend to follow there’s very few leaders um like yourself that are in every college football program but when that leader says this is what I’m going to do you
See people that are on the fence they tend to follow and and that’s something that you could see happening with a guy like Sam Hartman um with some of our leaders that we have on this team that um people that don’t quite know what they’re going to do are going to follow
The lead of those guys and uh I told him this um I thought back to my last game in college where um we weren’t playing for a national championship it was the Fiesta Bowl and I remember every minute right and those were moments that um you don’t forget now at that time nobody
Opted out but I’m sure glad that I did do that and and everybody else has their own story their own opportunity but for me personally I’m glad I was able to do that with my teammates for my University and we didn’t win but I would never changed that for you know for anything
And so I know people might hear to say well you a gonna be a first- round pick that’s true but um our first round pick played that game too so but yeah that to me is just a great example of leadership and and really The Snowball Effect a
Leader can have no that’s uh Amazing Story and and I agree with you wholeheartedly there uh one quick qu quick question about the portal that I I also find fascinating for you as a coach you have these guys you said that your program is is built on high school
Recruiting right because that’s what’s going to be the thing that keeps the influx of talent and you can kind of you can kind of pluck from the portal positions of need when you do end up getting a guy from the portal how does that impact the young red shirt freshman
At that position that you actually truly believe in will have a great future but now he’s going to have to take a backseat to this grad senior or Junior that you bring in that you know can start right now how do you manage that from a relationship standpoint with the
Guys on your roster versus the guys you’re bringing on your R yeah I I think about the quarterback situation and last year um when I had an H honest conversation with our quarterbacks that we were going to bring in a a grad transfer a fourth quarterback we had one
That decided to leave and then another one that decided to leave after spring but I think you still have to be hon Hest right and that here’s my belief in you here’s why we’re going to bring in a guy at this position right here’s why you know we need a fourth quarterback
And we’re going to try to fine it’s only right the best one that fits this football program but that does not reflect the way I feel about you that is a different situation here’s how I feel about you and I have a strong belief in you and you will get an opportunity to
Continue to compete for the job and so that person might say coach I’m leaving and those are the decisions that you got to know that can be the recip uh the the the effect of if you bring somebody but I think it’s having those honor honest conversations with those guys and
Being honest and and hopefully a lot of times they’ll understand that hey I’m gonna say this thing out right and I’m gonna keep working to get my opportunity that I deserve no I think you you hit it the nail on the head there talking about honesty and uh for yourself just through
Your own Journey um you got into coaching and a large reason that you got into coaching was because of your own Medical situation do you think that that Honesty policy that you have is derived from some of the things that you went through as a player that got you into coaching
You know I think that I look at the the lessons that I’ve learned growing up through life and my father was in the military he was a 26y year uh Air Force you know vet and um thank you for his absolutely and um you know he was very
Uh strict on being honest right and honest conversations I think about my college coach and and the conversations I had with him and the greatest lessons I’ve learned in life the people you respect are the ones that are honest with you not to tell you what you want
To hear but they’re honest and that to me goes a long way and your word is all you have and people that try to say things that you think the other person wants to hear that comes back they lose respect for you right it’s the ones that
That that that know you’re being honest that no matter what you’re saying you’re going to be honest with them that to me is more important than anything and so um that’s how I was raised and that’s how I’ll continue to lead um in this program and and forever in my future I
Lean on my own parents you know combined 34 years of service in the Army both Mom and Dad served so I know that military lifestyle and and I understand being what we call a military brat and for me I I just wonder for you because your
Career was cut short if you don’t mind sharing with the the viewer why your career was sh cut short and then I’ll you know continue to to go in this direction well this is everybody wants to know the story of how gotten a coaching and um I think the great story
Is that man I was playing in the NFL they found an enlarg heart valve and my career was cut short I had go into uh you know coaching but the reality is is you know I was on three teams as a rookie and um I was cut I was a fifth
Round draft pick was cut from Chicago um picked up right away by Buffalo and wave two weeks later and I finished in Houston and I remember partly through that year I was in Houston I called coach trussle my college coach like this is my third team in one year I’ve had a
Couple knee surgeries maybe this time has come to an end and his advice was play as long as you can play as long as you can and uh when the the league tells you no more um if you want to get in a coach and let me know well I went to go
Sign with the Colts and uh at the physical they found an inlarge heartb and I had just been at the combine you know months prior and they didn’t find anything but to me it was a sign from God like you know hey man enough is enough I called coach Trussell right
Away and the reason I got into coaching because I just love the game of football right I was on practice squad for a couple weeks in the NFL and I really enjoyed the game even though I knew I wasn’t going to play and uh you know then you get into coaching you think
It’s just because it’s the game of football and then you realize the the real satisfaction you get out of it is when you see young people have success and um that was the lesson I learned right away is I do this because I want to see young people have success and uh
That’s where you get your greatest you know satisfaction from 100% And and you know this person personally because you had to give up the game against your own will but for the guys that are in our fraternity of players who are trying to figure out when the right time to give
It up is and I don’t want to say give it up but the right time to move forward and do something else for the rest of your life because we’re not going to spend as much time hopefully playing the game of football as we are doing
Whatever else we’re going to do for the rest of our lives what message would you give them to come to uh an understanding and be able to push past struggling with giving up the game or moving past the game to do the next thing what would your message to
Them be well I think part of that is develop while you’re playing the game of football and that it’s important like people are so afraid to they have a plan B and I said I don’t call it a plan B I have a plan for Life After football
Because football’s going to end but right we can’t waste the opportunity with these connections that we have while you’re one of the greatest college football players there are that you you continue to find interest that you have outside of the game of football that’s not going to prevent you from being a
Great football player that’s the misconception if I have a plan b or a plan for Life After football it’s prevent me from becoming the greatest football player I can be no that’s not true right it’s just making sure that there’s a plan that you have when that
Time comes and then you know what I think for each person is different right some people want to go and go and go until um there is no more opportunities period and you know the that great for them and then some people I think realize um all right this is about it
For me I’ve been you know I’ve tried enough now it’s time to really transition um into this next phase of my life but everybody has to do it but I think the greatest advice I give our players is utilize this Notre Dame Network figure out the interest you have
So that you can develop this plan for Life After football and whenever that time comes you already have an idea of what you want to do a that’s beautifully said and my last question is a two-parter um this year you guys aren’t in the running for the college football
Playoff and and you know that we mentioned that earlier uh in this conversation but next year it’s going to expand to to 12 teams one do you like the expansion and then the second part of that question is for a team like Florida State who just lost their
Quarterback and Jordan Travis if they win the ACC Championship do you think that the committee should leave them out just because of that injury one yes I do like the expansion of 12 team playoffs like you you love you know you thought you think about March Madness and and
That excitement around there and the more opportunities that you’ll see teams have to to make a run at this National Championship the better I think it’s going to be great for college football and everything that encompasses it I think what the committee is able to see
Is you got a two game resume right and they were able to beat a good Florida I know Florida’s maybe their record isn’t what they aspired to be team right and they’re going to play a good Louisville team and then the college football committee is gonna have to say Okay does
This undefeated if they beat Louisville Florida State team that has beaten these two teams without their starting quarterback do they deserve to be in the playoffs over um maybe a one loss team right and um I I think they’ll have a hard time keeping them out I I agree
With that coach and thank you for answering the question uh and not not avoiding that you you’ve been amazing in this conversation and I I believe that next year you guys will be uh in the running for that 12 team playoff and I know that you’re going to go to bat here
In the offseason to to build your roster the right way and continue to develop your guys and I thank you for joining RG3 and the ones it’s been an amazing conversation it’s been great man let’s do it again soon oh certainly gonna do it again I could I could ask you a
Billion more questions but I appreciate the open honesty and like we said this is you’re a real dude and I think you’re your team sees that and guys like you um I know that you’re at Notre Dame right now I know you’re Notre Dame and you’re completely focused
On Notre Dame but I think guys like yourself have a bright future even if you were to make that jump into the NFL because we need more real men coaching in the NFL outside of some of the coaching carousels that we’ve seen uh as of late and I think that you connect not
Just with young men but with with older men who were trying to support their families as well so I know that I don’t know if that’s a goal of yours or a mission of yours but I’m speaking it into existence right now because I think
You do a phenomenal job in the NFL well I appreciate that man let’s make sure the first thing you speak into exist as that 12 team playoffs all right there you go
