My brothers are phi beta sigma fraternity incorporated brother morris the son of one of your founders is in the house to see national executive board my sister beta sorority incorporated fellow greeks ladies and gentlemen good evening of these distinguished icons this evening so i asked you just to give you a few minutes
To get your charge you’ve been charged very highly but i’m going to take the charge in another area in a few minutes it honor and a privilege to have been asked by president mason to give the centennial charge and to share this centennial event with such dynamic icons happy 100th anniversary happy
You birthday 100 years old 100 years more powerful 100 years more confident 100 years more determined to be the best and 100 years more capable and ready to be of service there is something special we must remember there would be no centennial there would be no celebration there would be no final stigma
There would be no satisfied beta sorority if it were not for the greatest name in sigma a langston taylor who had the vision to see beyond today the courage to implement his vision the confidence to believe in himself and his goal the determination to refuse to quit or become discouraged because of hardship
Difficulties or opposition and concern enough to care for people because of these leadership qualities his dream fraternity was realized and five beta sigma fraternity incorporated what’s the status on friday january the 9th 1914 100 years and ago i set the charge before you for the next 100 years
You’ve been charged very nicely this evening but we’re going to take it to another level i charge you to continue to promote brotherhood one of your founding principles you know that what you are is what you bring to sigma and what you bring to sigma is what sigma becomes
Brotherhood is that a strong bond of honesty trust devotion confidence respect love all for one and one for all confidence in your brother that someone is always there to share the good time at the beginning brotherhood is giving and taking working together instead of against and apart respecting what the fraternity stands for
Not what you want the fraternity to stand there is no separation the only difference is chronological the undergraduates are the lifeblood of five data i challenge the undergraduate to maintain a good gpa it’s about scholarship what is your founding principle i charge you to bring back those brothers back home to the brotherhood
Who are not active it does not matter why they live it is time to bring them back home brothers so when you do that grip and you know that little hug i want you to take them are you financially to bring back to the brotherhood i want you to understand
What you heard this evening from these icons about what you should do in the community we are the community but what we are doing a lot of times as african-americans we destroy our succeed i challenge you to share your time energy and talent to move signal ever forward through service you have knowledge
But are you willing to use it you have to volunteer and donate your time talent participate in event programs and service projects some brothers say i don’t know what’s going on in florida city they’re right because i charge you to take leadership roles and to grow your chapter your state
Your region and our country you don’t want to lead but you want to criticize about service to the community and then i want you to explain to them to stop playing the violent video games and teach them how to read the bible if you want to continue to move stigma forward through service
Please do not come to president mason with a problem come to president national in our country we need participators so i challenge you to be a participator my final charge i charge you to support your leaders when we elect our officers we need to support them i didn’t vote for him it doesn’t
Is i’m off it’s not about that brother it has to be about five days i charge you to remember the oath that you took the oath that you took did not make you a singer and then to a member of five days am i a financial member am i serious about stigma
