Aound victims at the Hiroshima Memorial Casino tap and writing message of Peace we believe that this has helped to remind many people around the world of the importance of nuclear abolition also apart from the topics of nuclear dis government and the issue of the Russian invasion of Ukraine
A broad range of global issues were discussed such as climate energy health care including infectious disease counter measures uh digitalization and AI the G7 leaders called on the International Community to actively cooperate and contribute to solving these issues I believe that this

Shim so it’s great to hear from the governor and now moving on to the to the delegation and starting the presentation and discussion so the first presentator is from Japan so we have from do University environment thank you let’s start with my self
Introduction environmental CL problems are the problems we are all working on in NS we have our goal 13 is to take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts for the year 2030 and Beyond we have to make complete progress on it so I dor I propose education as
A way to achieve this goal at the Garden of par at the seminar course on my University we work at the Garden and based on Hands-On experiences we are learning we are learning environmental sciences and then my supervisor explain the philosophy of this Garden this is the garden
Of hope it’s a garden-based learning project where young people learn about nature through experience M and not only receiving education we are also implementing it at our local Child Care Center we have fun activities on nexts for children education to preserve the environment and let’s move on to my
Presentation here I like to talk about education and envelopment and then as the video shows that there is a goal sorry about that that I like to commence with a simple yet profound question how do you define nature you may answer that nature is not manmade
Or nature is the things should control you may say or nature is the beauty thank you for your attention as you memorate the goal 13 of SGS is to take urgent actions to combat climate change and its impact and for this goal we have a Target that needs us to build knowledge
And capacity to meet the climate the climate change the build knowledge yes education so education is regarded as a important tool to preserve the involment let’s move on to the data according to the UNESCO which is located in near from here and according to unco the 70% of
Young people cannot explain climate change or can only explain its blo principles or do not know anything about it so we understand there is a lack of quality Environmental Education programs so here is my goal my goal is to build and enforce a quality Environmental
Education programs all around the world and so the what should be the core what should be the philosophy for my go for my programs I like to say emotions and exponential learning it is because that emotions can drive our behaviors towards sustainability this is
Backed up by the Japanese Japanese educationist educa educator sorry about that and emotions are postered through exponential learning so what am I actually doing we work at the Garden of hope that is located in the northern part of of Kyoto and then 10 to 15 University
Students work at this garden and then we grow up vegetables or plants like glaves and then we also cultivating our understanding to environmental educations or environmental issues so with the basis of the Hands-On experiences we are fostering our attitude or emotions towards the
Sustainability so I like to say we have been we have been watching a paradigm shift of environmental occations in the history we have been packing young minds with glom description of the Earth but we are turning to environment education
Focusing on emotions so we have to admit that we have a link to Nature so for the question how do you define nature I direct to answer nature Is Us so for 2030 and Beyond I like to say let us the BL years from France and from Japan take steps toward
Sustainability with the basis on with the focusing on emotions and exponential learning so let us start with the the the the walking around your garden or the picking up sun flowers or watching a tiny butterflies l so excitement and joy or wonder can lead to sustainability so I have a few
Minutes time left so I just talk about the studies in Environmental Education environment UC studies there are three steps in environmental ucation first is about the building emotional basis and the second is to absorb knowledge and the last is take actions I like to focus on building
Emotions for taking actions for absorbing knowledge that is my goal thank you thank you thank you very much for your for your fascinating talk so how did you think about your presentation yeah it was brilliant time like the I have a one minute left at the last so I gladly
Gladly talked about the studies of Environmental Education programs and then yeah I was glad to talk about here today thank you thank you you have you can have a seat so now we move to French delegates so from in and P the them is eological issue and Museum let’s start
With my self introduction [Music] there are believed to be fewer than 7,500 snow leopard in the world and numbers continue to decline since the early 1980s average precipitation as declined by approximately 40% in southern Sudan while the sudanes were coexisting harmoniously a drought triggered the war in 2003 marking the onset of the
World first recognized climate conflict due to greenhous gases ocean water is getting allly hard learning from the P the present not the past climate change is not just about raising temperature but a source of conflict and human suffering threatening Global Peace
If the consequences of climate change include Wars the loss of precious species and immense human suffering why not create a Peace Museum did dedicating to safeguarding our planet future so let’s start with my presentation so in the self introduction you saw that I also
Talk about animals but to be honest with you I my subject is not Environmental Studies my studies revolved around Peace Museum and while doing my research I realized that Peace Museum have all the same uh mechanism to raise awareness so I thought why not use the same technique mechanism to raise
Awareness about global warming I also realized that the all R revolve around uh the past and learning from the past to go to to go on on the future to the Future however these day there are unprecedented conflict and I also thought that this conflict were not representated in this
Museum so what I would like to start by asking you what image do you have of climate change generally speaking in France we talk a lot about sea level rise less biodiversity with uh endangered spaces and white fires but we never talk about human uh suffering we
Mostly about talk about how the future is going to be dark but I think it’s already happening it’s already dark these wars are already happening I don’t have a lot of time today so I’m only going to talk about uh one uh case study which is the war in
Darur so Dao is a region in Western Sudan bordering Chad and uh it’s in near the S region which is the orang part you can see on the map and the according to United Nations statistic by 28s the temperature are predicted to rise to 2.5 uh degrees celsus and it’s the
Best degrees at worst it’s going to raise to four degrees and this lack of rainfall has triggered growth that have subsequent subsequently led to tension in the region when you don’t have any rainfall you can’t you don’t have water and water is a necessity to live but also for
Farmers to uh grow vegetable to raise cattle and also about medine to have good hygiene so that’s why it triggers like tension and that’s how the the first climate War began in uh 2003 millions of sanes were forced to flee the violence in darur and 400,000 people were killed
Uh during this war the region is still very uh in difficulties because they are still not enough water I’m also talking about D because this War uh created tension in the whole country uh this uh year in April uh even though there wasn’t any war in the capital uh in the capital uh
In April a war declared in uh Kum which is the capital of Sudan and 5 point eight million of people had to flee their home and 1 million people uh fought uh Aslam in the neighbor countries obviously uh there’s a lot is there’s a political context to
This situation but one of the trigger was the lack of water so yeah I can’t go in depth but there is a whole political concept like context in the situ about the situation uh there is uh also International tensions in the region with uh the creation
Of the grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam in Ethiopia Ethiopia sorry and there’s a big growth in the L chat you can just you can just conclude your presentation so I think like using the mechanism of uh Peace Museum which is a lot of emotions could help people to see uh climate
Change in another way and to change their state of mind sorry thank you thank you very much just quick word how do you feel now uh I’m quite disappointed I couldn’t talk about the last part so I hope like in the discussion we can talk more of one of my
Last diversity about uh Peace Museum and uh talk more in depth about it thank you so now we moved to a discussion and we had two delegates so from Japan and from France so maybe we will start to comment on Japan’s presentation so if you have a comments if you
Have a question so please lce your hand and yes guel so you said uh that a very big point of your studies and your goal is emotion and I was wondering since your uh the beginning of your studies how uh you changed like what was your state of mind at the beginning and
Now it’s a good question so I am yeah so and just checking that you asking about some how the Environmental Education can change the former emotions to the desired emotions light uh no how you were at the beginning and now for your experience you uh I see it so you’re asking
About my background like yes um I started the the studying about education the the blood spares like educational policies over all all around the education but since I get wants to talk about and then the the teacher who is focused on Environmental Education with the focus on emotions
He changed my mind and then I went to that this kind of like the way to focus on emotions and then that is that’s story yeah thank you other question other comments yeah oh sorry so thank
You uh so you uh you was talking about emotion and in France uh it’s really weird because we are the country of Reason like deart and um do you think there is enough emotion when we see for example
Uh some people some ecologist activist which who threw up some tomato soup on the on the dating in museum uh maybe uh I think uh we need more uh reason but no more emotion what do you think about
That thank you for your question and then yeah I wanted to talk about that in my presentation but I’m lying out out of time and then I couldn’t but there is a research that has St that has been done
In 2022 in by Japanese literature of environment education and he revealed that there has a link between the emotional like sustainable behaviors and emotions and then that he revealed with the quality quantitative method like the the seeds and then he questioned he made questions to the
Children and so in this sense you can understand quantitively the change of emotions Andrew so I thank you for your presentation I’m wondering is there any vegetables or fruits which are effective to like in terms of your like environment or like emotional
Education um this is not the vegetable sorry about that like the the according to the Anna comto that who is famous for the nature study the handook of nature studies she l that the bird is a great material to start with environmental ucation so birds can the fly and then birds
Eat the worms so that when we are watching birds that we can understand what is going know in the environment thank you so it’s very interesting so animals and I think G you talk about also you emphasize also the the relationship between the ecological question and the human human conflicts
And I’m wondering also if you have a comment or question on gr so gr’s presentation so yeah maybe maybe we start with yo um thank you for the presentation gr um as a student from Hiroshima we
So familiarized with our piece Memorial Park in museum and well it is like a center over hard and center of learning and I wonder well you were saying that you’re we will talk in detail later like how you connect the environment is with that kind of piece uh museums so thank you
For your question so I come also from normandi in France which is a famous also because of second world war and I think that a lot of Peace Museum are triggering emotions to have a big impact so
When you go out of the hirosima P Museum you cry and so that’s how like touching your emotions uh change people minds and a lot of people are seeing uh Glo global warming as something very scientific that it’s not like uh something tangible so I think think that making using the ter term
Like Peace Museum and showing for example Wars uh action and everything that’s happening now in the world can see that it’s not something something that’s going to happen happen in the future it’s happening now and people are dying that what I wanted to say after okay thank you so if you
Have another question comments Andrew thank you for your presentation may I know more details about the Peace Museum like the purpose or like is it already exist in France I no no not at all I just wanted like to launch this conversation and I thought about it because uh in Paris we
Have a a city of science which is a science museum and we had a science Day in France and there was a a whole exhibition about uh global warming and there was uh I also put put like an photo in my uh
Di but it’s something uh University in Serbia did and you under uh capsule and you watch a videos and there is an like art form a man is lying it’s not a real man and it’s a man who is living in
2030 and you’re watching the videos and he’s talking like if I could talk to people in 2023 that’s what I would say and it was very like a it gave me a big impact and I thought like it’s kind
Of the same emotion that I had in Peace Museum so that’s why thank you another question another comments youo please um so uh you know you mentioned about like how we need emotional perspective on global warming matters and on the other hand Remy commented on how we need like the
Fact based discussion about it and and then I I think right now in Hiroshima we need to focus more on fact-based or like reasonable conversation because we have been focusing so much on emotion on the other hand as you mentioned like global warming is totally scientific model right now
And I think it is important to find a balance between them what do you think is about the best balance between emotion and reason of course like everything I think balance is important but I think like when about climate there’s a lot of people who don’t believe in climate change and
That’s why like I think that like talking about war is not totally about emotions like it’s real things happening but think seeing images and seeing like real facts can be can have I think a more more impact than just saying like in s there is going to be a raise of 2.5 degrees
It’s not very something tangible people are yeah it’s sad but we don’t have like a very I think we can’t regrasp it but seeing that people are like I said uh don’t have enough food and everything it’s more tangible but I think it’s still touching more emotions and rational kind of but balance
Is everything I think thank you maybe I may add something uh so uh as I said in the last part of my presentation there are three steps the first is build emotional basis and the second is the
Absorve knowledge and the last part is take actions so the as you said so we have to take balance the the the balance collectory apparently and then I think like the in this in my context
We are delived by emotions and then that that our behaviors can be supported by facts or knowledge I think that’s the way that we can have a balance between them thank you everybody for this discussion and it was very fruitful but I have to now summarize and all the conversation here and
And the term that I choose is the balance and especially the balance between the emotion and knowledge and thank you very much for everybody and and now we move to the next step so we will have the next Japanese delegates
So we have from Tokyo from the University of Tokyo anata the time is peace rebooting memories I was born and raised in hirosima have you ever been to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial [Music] Park this was the downtown the Nakajima District about 4,400 people lived
Normal everyday lives just like us since I was a high school student I’ve been working on reboting memories that is to colorize the black and white photos of the daily lives before the atomic bombing using Ai colorization and the dialogues with the war survivors seeing the color
Photos Kaka are aging year by year and we are the last generation to hear their testimonies directly how can we convey the war survivors uh convey the war survivors messages to the Future please look at this photo which was taken in 1938 in Hiroshima their brothers and Hiroshima
Industrial promotion Hall which is now called the atomic bomb D how do you feel and what can you imagine in 2017 in the summer I met this younger brother Mr tokuzo hamay he once lived in the Nakajima District where Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park is now located and his father run a barber
Shop here we can see his family in the animation movie in this corner of the world although he was evacuated all his family members died by one atomic bomb without saying goodbye since then he
Has cherished this album about 250 black and white photos are in it also he told me that he went to the theater again and again because he could meet his family through the movie so I thought
Of colorizing the photos and giving them in an album so that he could feel his family closer too this was taken in 19935 in Hiroshima Mr hamay saw this AI colorized photos and said wow it’s so beautiful just like yesterday my family seemed to be alive this was a
Scene of ohanami party in chuen so the color of these flowers are pink a I recognize the leaves green but according to Mr hamay these are Terry blossoms so I manually adjust the color based on his color of memory this comes from rebooting memories I have interviewed more
Than 30 residents of Z Nakajima district and Haka visualizing color memory using air colorization and the dialogue with war survivors can bring life back to their jaful memories vividly and we can go into our imagination so that people suddenly lost by a single
Atomic bomb it will lead to emphasize with the inhumane of atomic bomb and War so May 19th this year G7 leaders visited Hiroshima they offered flowers and prayed for peace however could they imagine the daily lives of Nakajima District before
The bombing under the ground of the present peace park there was a temple and a cafe near here just after two months on July 19th Mr hamay passed away I strongly believe it is my mission to convey the war survivors messages through color of memory with empathy for six
Years I have advanced my activities like exhibitions movies smartphone application color photo book and music and so on today one of the colorized photos is exhibited over there so please see it and feel free to talk to me 78 years have passed since the atomic bomb was
Dropped on Hiroshima the time is limited when we can communicate with Haka so how can we the people who haven’t experienced World War II convey the war survivors messages to the Future it took 70 years for Mr hamay to build his family grave because he had he had believed
His family had been alive somewhere in the peace Park habaka have overcome sorrow and hatred they hope for a peaceful world so that people never repeat the same suffering I realize it’s very important for each one of us to um sorry to listen
To the war survivors messages voices and to uh and express the messages in our own way so we may now live in the world before World War I so we realize nobody can stop the war after breaking out we must need to imagine War and Peace as something relevant to our present
Day life when you visit Hiroshima please walk through the peace spk Imagining the lives of nakazima district and please tell someone what you’ll feel using your five senses in your own way I believe it is um I believe this will lead to a nuclear-free world thank you for
Listening thank you very much for your fascinating talk and espe the very very very interesting project actually and actually before before I’m in studying history I used to study photography and I was particularly interested in your project but how do you
Feel about your presentation um Since U Mr hamay passed away this July um I regretted to U tell the messages directly to G7 leaders but this time uh G7 youth leaders uh with G7 leaders uh G7 leaders I can communicate today so I’m very happy and I’m very happy
To tell the our survivors messages directly and through coloriz photos thank you so much thank you so now we we move to French delegation’s presentation so from University B so so Nagisa Horner the them is peace education so let’s start with my
Introduction in Japan the Quest for Peace begins in the classroom parar in Hiroshima where the past shapes the future in Hiroshima schools peace education includes understanding conflict and preventing future violence at the heart of this education is the atomic bombing on
Hiroshima on 6th August 1945 to understand the tragic consequences of the war and the survivors known as Haka share their experiences so that we so that the horrors of War are never forgotten the peace education are in place in memory of the victims and to symbolize their
Commitment to peace this education extend throughout Japan inspiring generations to promote peace and Mutual understanding peace education in hirosima schools inspires the fight for a better world especially at a time when conflicts are still breaking out around
The world together we can all contribute to a more peace forward join us in our Quest for Peace so let’s start with my self-presentation I don’t have the power on point to today but uh I make a a speech for
For the public 78 years have passed since the end of the second world war with the loss of the generation that live through the atomic bombings of a hirosima and Nagasaki given Japan’s historical and geopolitical context marked by this tragedies peace education is
Of crucial importance in understanding the impact of conflicts and nuclear weapons on societies and in promoting the prevention of such events in the future Japan adopted a Pacific Constitution after the second world war renouncing renouncing war as a means of resolving conflicts however the
Debate surrounding the reinterpretation of the Constitution and discussion on National Defense issues have highlighted the complexity of the security challenges facing the country Hiroshima Municipal and private schools have been incorporating peace education arbitrary by teacher initially since the 1917s then in the form of a genuine pedagogical model at the
Initiative of the Hiroshima Municipal Board of Education since 2013 peace education emerged as a response to the need to challenge the entire pror system charactered by strong nationalism to promote Democratic Values human rights and peaceful methods of dispute resolution the aim
Is to help shape future Generations commited to preventing conflict preserving peace and promoting global stability during my second year of my Master’s Degree I was able to observe the way in which peace education was conducted at hiroshima’s and Municipal secondary school I
Don’t say the name because of the of the Privacy from 9 to 13 March 202 23 so uh this year and to understand how it was P saved and experienc both by teachers and 98 perers of first year classes by means of questionnaires and field observations this work explored the way in
Which teaching about the atomic bombing fits into the educational landscape in particular the major issues facing the transmission of memory and pacifist values in Japanese National Education this analyses highlighted a fundamental continuity rooted in the memory of the atomic bombings and F by awareness of contemporary challenges however complex questions
Remains as to the scope and depth of the impact of this education on the younger generations and on Society for example the continued presence of US military bases on Japanese territory The Selective nature of History teaching and the Persistence of certain Nationalist and
Militaristic attitudes in National Education textbook revisions have been singled out for criticism calling into questions the neutrality of History teaching teachers heavy workloads and their difficulty in combining the transmission of memory with the principle of neutrality in teaching are also revealing this phenomena are accompanied by a gradual decline in P’s level of
Knowledge and awareness of the atomy bombing of hirosima and for the second world war in general finally the study my study found that peace education is of crucial importance to Japanese education but that it faces challenges related to changing educational priorities and
Normative pressures given the dynamic evolution of global context and contemporary Social Challenges and considering the vital role of Peace education in building a peaceful and sustainable Society the aim is to reflect on ways of strengthening peace education adapting teaching methods and maintaining a collective awareness of the importance of Peace for future Generations
Thank you for your attention thank you thank you and just quick word how do you feel about after the presentation uh I it’s very present to present my subject of study during my two years of master’s degree and uh the pece education is very important for me because I can see the the
Students of Hiroshima um take this uh this type of education and uh and to see the emotion of the students who want who want to um want to to to uh make uh to continue transmission of
Uh the the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and uh the teachers especially two teachers uh that uh that I um I met uh who work hard to to make the peace education as um as e efficient possible it’s very
Pleasant to present my observations today thank you thank you very much and so now we move to the discussion and the two presentation actually was on Hiroshima and actually we have among the delegates actually some people who visited hirosima from the outside world but also the
Who live who who grown up actually in hoshima and I’m wondering so if you have comments or question maybe on one or on both presentation and yes or reaction are thank you and this is a comment for
Andrew and then uh I just say your your activity is just brilliant and that your presentation is Will design and one of the greatest presentation I ever heard and I like to ask that what do you
Challenge the most what or what do you you think what is the most important part in your activity so Andrew so thank you for your comment um my most challenging point is uh uh in my case the inheritance of the the word survivors messages is of course important but I think
It is very important to make the world survivors happy to uh to talk about their experiences and I I’m think it very important to the process of the piece education for example in my case I firstly uh I asked the photo owner of the war survivors and make relationship taking over time
And I got the photos and I digitalized the photos for many for many and next I colorize firstly AI this is 10% of the whole colorization and next I colorized I research the past documents like past close and go to the museum and see the things which uh the world survivors
Are past are used in past and I I adjust the color based on the things and finally um I repeated dialogues with war survivors again and again and I think it is very important to see the color photo but I think it is important to process the
Long time for a long time and making relationship with war survivors and not only the tragedy of War but also the people’s lives which was suddenly lost by a single atomic bomb and we we should uh
Go into our imagination so this is very important point to my Activity thank you thank you color evokes the emotion that was discussed actually in the first session but also it’s a process of producing the knowledge and relationship as you mentioned and I think yeah please maybe maybe
Nagisa and then Remy yes about the survivors um I uh when I make observations at the Hiroshima schools I see the the students who one one time every year uh they heard the testimonies of uh
Of survivors um and the teacher said that uh but uh maybe last year or in two three years they cannot more listen to the testimoni of of Haka because of their their age uh and um I I
Think that uh the idea of cor the the photos uh the colorized photos are very brilliant and uh it’s necessary to to um to to make transmission of this photos at Hiroshima students and also um at the the student the Japanese students because the coriz photos is more impact make more impact
Than the the black and white photos and uh I want to ask you when you had this idea or uh and in which context and with who you you had this idea um thank you for your comment and question
Um honestly uh I was I hate the peace education because when I was a kindergarten student uh I firstly went to the peace Memorial Museum and I saw the horrible scene of the atomic bomb and
War but um when I was a Elementary School student I got a pamphlet uh it uh it includes the photos of prear nakazima distri and I saw that uh and I saw and I saw that there were um daily lives
Um before the atomic bombing just like us and I changed my mind so um this is my first point to change my mind and secondly uh in N uh in 2017 when I was a high school student I came across
Mr hamay uh when I said my presentation and uh he had the photos of R lives and he once lived in the Nakajima District so um and after I met Mr hamay once week after I met Mr hamay um I learned
The colorization of AI and and then I found the photos of Mr hamay and I heard from him that he went to the theater again then and he met he could meet his family through the movie
So uh I color so I decided to colorize the photos and uh he he’d like to colorize to the photos for me this is the starting point to rting Memories thank you very much and comment and question REM
Me uh thank you for your presentation it’s a comment and a question so for the comment and it’s make it makes makes an echo with the previous presentation uh about uh the balance between uh emotion memory and uh history uh because uh your work onju is uh very
Emotional uh history uh work and uh we have the same problem in France and in Europe with the Holocaust and uh the like you said uh all the testimonies were are about to disappear and um it’s really important for us for the Youth the European youth uh to continue to uh develop this
Uh this subject about the Holocaust about this in Europe in France uh I’ve met a person Jean Mett and he suffer about uh Nazis or uh and I think it’s important to balance with the
Historical work uh and uh in in school we talk about the uh learning peace at school uh and I think it’s important my question is to all the Japanese delegate I don’t know if I can do that
But uh what do you think about uh the actual uh reconstru reconstruction rebuilding of Defense in Japan because I work on it and what do you think about because you talk about peace Etc and do you think it’s a peaceful thank you thank you for your question it’s it’s a big question actually
So maybe if you one person who would like to represent Japan’s delegations reaction rather than response because I think it’s huge question so response is very difficult uh def defenses defense policies or maybe can I just make short quick short comment like the we learned the the the
Two days ago that we have to make the balance between the ideal and I ideal and the reality so in ideal Ideal World we have to make the the country without nuclear weapons or the the kind
Of defense or and we have to look at the look at the the real world so that is the the things I’m I’m thinking about yeah thank you thank you very much and so I will make a quick summary which may be
So I choose memory and dialogue because I think so we discuss a lot about memory but parent memory itself it’s not enough and maybe something add was maybe the dialogue and well I may say dialogue but
Also memory and dialogue I think it could be it fit to the to the to the spirits of this this this this session so now we move to the next session and we will have a delegate from Japan so we have from KO University yuo Nakamoto them is importance of educating
Art and culture okay now intruction okay uh through the pandemic of coid we have seen many concerts cancelled theaters and museums closed in Japan some people even say arts and cultures are unnecessary however an art as art can be a form of communication which overpowers the
Language it it plays a great role in accepting diversities and peace building the problem in Japan and many other countries is that people perceive art as luxurious and do not make it part of their daily lives so in today’s speech I’d like to propose some ideas on why arts
And cultures are important in peace building and well I created some organization with my friends to make the first impression of students towards Arts to be wonderful by introducing some tips on how to enjoy arts and I’d love to hear the ideas from all of you you thank
You today I’d like to talk about the power of arts and culture and how they can contribute to peace what do I mean by that for instance how many of you like Japan even though you’d never visited
Was it um what created that opinion in you was it Sushi the animation the fashion all cultural elements that contribute to how a nation is seen function at soft power which is one of our focuses today in the same way when the British prime minister visited Japan on g7’s occasion and posted
On social media about his time in Hiroshima making okonomi Aki it made Japanese citizens feel a sense of friendship toward the UK this is an example of public diplomacy or other focus of today out of the three types of power commonly exercised in global relationships hard power
Employs force and CERN sharow power makes use of the shared values of Nations as Government strategy leaving soft power as the only one promoting peaceful problem solving and gentle approach through uh though it takes longer than hard power the values and agreements
Shared by Soft power will last long people will be convinced of the results as it is not something forced by threats also soft power helps people to understand or respect different cultures and bodies there’s no doubt that interance and narrow-mindedness towards
Other cultures cause many Global problems such as discrimination and economic gaps soft power power might help solve these situations as well here are some examples of soft power being familiarized with these cultures people start to Aspire to the lifestyles and values of these
Countries public diplomacy is mainly done between governments where soft power is done between civilians for diplomatic negotiations uh to be successful knowing the partner country citizens ideas and getting agree getting agreements from them is crucial because most countries
Of diplomatic governments uh do not only work out policies that are followed by their citizens this way of diplomacy uses charm of their culture and friendship between the countries to pursue negotiation instead of threats by military or economic Powers if we look at this cultural
Expenditure showing the the budget allotted by countries to public diplomacy projects we can see that Japan does not yet seem to fully exercise the value of investing in cultural activities powers of arts and cultures are often underestimated as the effect is not visible in numbers which
Leads some politicians to hesitate to put money into cultural problem cultural purposes on the other hand European countries such as the UK and France spend a great amount of money on on art and culture I’d like to know whether this difference comes from citizens views or government’s position
So it would be nice if any of you could give me some ideas on it later in the discussion part overall Bor in hoshima I have always wanted to contribute to peace at the same time I learned a lot about the reality of global politics soft power and public diplomacy may not be
Perfect but slowly replacing the for forceful way of diplomacy with this kind of peaceful way will surely be a huge step towards peace because Effectiveness cannot be showing numbers it is difficult to enforce but if we the Young Generation know the importance of these Concepts
We can realize peaceful diplomacy and negotiation in the future let’s make it happen together thank you thank you very much for your very interesting and informed presentation so what do you feel after your present after this presentation well this is my first time visiting France and before
That I had an image of France being like culture or country with like most of the citiz is very interested in arts so I was very excited to listen to all the opinions of you all so thank you very
Much and please take a seat so now we move to the next next step so the French uh we have a French U presentation so from par University the them is peace uh so let’s start with my personal
Introduction so on October the 7th a new aspect of the conflict between Israel and Palestine erupt with the Hamas attack on Israelis this attack was immediately followed by the ration uh by Israel dragging the Rion back into war previously there was the Russia’s invasion of Ukraine
In 2022 which brought the war to you Europe’s door step which has disappeared since the 19th and the balcon war war is everywhere all the time and each chair of humanitarian catastrophe can I will say it forced immigration anger the the health and education system in danger
Added to this there is another Parra the nuclear threat uh this nuclear weapon supposed to be a weapon of deterence continue to onwe on the major decision of the world with the Young Generation must fight against this we must take power and promote a world of peace and mutual AIDS between
Nation okay so as you know a year ago Russia invaded Ukraine violated the Integrity of Ukraine sovereignity and territory since the ban in the 19 world had almost disappeared in Europe and now it’s at the Gate of Europe a few thousand kilometer of Paris this Invasion and the outbreak
Of the Ukraine were a shock to me even through I had see theaters of War elsewhere this was the first time I had experienced in Europe I tell you an anecdote I was a history and geography
Teacher in the high school and I Asser my student uh the war was impossible and it’s dangerous for everyone and the Russia don’t uh no don’t go to invade Ukraine a few days later the damage was done and uh when I saw my student again I was forced to admit my mistake this
Lit Story shows the unicable the UN raisable of War moreover I said this war was of the gates of the Europe and that worries me for the future in Europe tensions are rising government are become tense and radicalized the temptation to close down and corus has become common again
With all conflicts they keep shape again as in Serbia and Kosovo for example finally Vladimir Putin is constantly raising the nuclear threat in the west and the United State ever interfere uh if the west in the United State ever interfer the Russian Internal Affairs several maor outlets
In France have been referred so called the tar bomber a bomb that would eradicate Paris if it launch uh so for the past year I we have been in fear of this hopeless conflict I don’t want
This world my generation don’t want this world we have uh on our continent Europe a union a fraternity want wanted by a father of All European nationality for example Rober Schuman and Je for La France deas for Italy corad at the no for Germany etc etc and 10 years before the Treaty
Of run this Nation were at War and thanks to this father of Europe friendship and European Brotherhood was born um France have has a role to play through his history is the country that won the most battle in the history uh through his tradition France must defend the ideal of
Peace the Rivage of world war the too many civil killed the Canon for sent into battle to gain a few met on the adversary all this should quiet us so that it never happens again as the founder
Of the European Union France and French yth must be stand bir for peace because for many for many it’s a model of peace and democracy today I think that is not fully fing the world France says arms
To Country at War such as Saudi Arabia France continue to fight uh in these former colonies in Africa in order to according to them uh preserve peace in Africa but we know very well that economic interests preval and that’s the large Industry Group uh are not destroying
Uh are not only destroying the planet but also left by dis spoing African resources um as you know France is one of the countries with the nuclear weapons let me noot um so uh we have to realize how serious the situation is nuclear respon are said to be a
Deton uh weapon it has not used uh been it has not been used in 1945 but how long can this deterrent last billion of people civilian and innocent will be uh the victim of these atrocities uh this frantic race to obtain nuclear weapon must be stop in the tense of geopolitical
Context this is uh the threat to the war war bring anger suffering and desper and I would like to conclud with Japan because I you said uh Japan has a pacifical constitution with the article n and I think the role of Japan is very important in the world with his Constitution to
Promote peace and not uh war and like how we say the the political the actual politic thank you thank you very much Remy how was how was your presentation uh it was lot of pressure
But very pleasant and uh I wrote too much thank you thank you both of you and now we move to the discussion so we have a two presentation on the international question if I may say although we have we also you presented actually two different if not complimentary approach
To the to this question International question and which is the the military on the one hand and also the culture on other hand so I think we have a question comments and or your your reaction like from from from your point of view and if you have any so please raise your
Hands aumu thank you and this is a comment for Hy and then uh uh I appreciate your presentation about the geopol with the geopolitical point of view on the piece and then I I direct to
Ask about uh how can we move the the building peace in actual processes how can we move like policies or how can we change the mind or how can we make the changes in actual Society I like to
Ask about that um thank you for your question and um maybe we already have answer it’s I think for me uh it’s about uh education a lot of Education because I was teacher and it was it was important
For me uh to to transmit to my uh to my student uh the important of war the atrocities of War and the uh yeah the education is maybe for me the first thing uh we have to to to change uh to make more
Uh more peace people I don’t know how to say but uh yeah and as uh yuo say cter is cure and softb is very important and uh it’s maybe the the last part of my speech with Japan Constitution uh for
Me it belongs to the soft power of Japan this Japanese Constitution and Japan has have to uh promote it that’s it thank you very much any other question guel maybe and then angre right uh it’s mostly a comment and perhaps an answer also my point of view is quite different because I think
That uh teaching peace is not enough because peace PE mean also war and I think that war criminal also need to be judged because we can’t just talk about peace and not uh a knowledge the people who suffered and people who are responsible from this suffering so I think that International
Court and judging uh war criminal and kind of putting finger on people um responsibilities are also important because p p can’t be made uh before uh acknowledging people suffering and what people lived that’s all thank you so maybe I take the answer question and then we’re going to open
Up this is is my comment and question so through these sessions uh I think um it is very important educational space for peace and it is not only in the classroom but also the space where is open for
Our societ like uh exhibition Hall um Peace M uh peace Park and Museum and so on so uh when you uh you said you are teacher of historic so uh how how do you think what uh how do you what do you
Think it is very important for kids to think about peace as themselves um like I said before um it’s very important to find the good balance between memory so what you say the uh the the memory the
The place of war the museum Etc uh I live in Lauren uh which uh there was the World War I with Vera and uh every year all my school go to to V and uh but before we have to prepare uh people
Uh because they have to um understand what they will re see that what they they will see and uh it’s yes the the balance between uh the history so this my job and memory the job of the museum
The place but it’s very important for me to take people and uh go on place that the world should be i’ be thank you very much so so I think yeah oh you EO maybe and then okay um so this is comment
And kind of a question to hery you mentioned about article name right it it is and then you pointed out it it can be a soft power of Japan on the other hand it is kind of a taboo in Japan
Because it is such a controversial topic if you talk about that kind of political topic people might think you’re too aggressive or something um but I I didn’t realize that article nine gets such an attention from abroad until I came here today uh so what is like the general perspective itive
Of French people TS article n and I think maybe maybe maybe you can you can also ask the question you know that group the question oh this is very a general question and this is for post of you and
Those there is too but um what is peace from your perspective I mean like how do you define the word peace thank you sir you can you can make a short answer to the to the big two big question okay so
For youo um uh in France uh we don’t know about the article n it’s my personal uh work because last year I work about uh this article and the the Pacific movement in Japan and it was very
Important for me to talk about that because it was my research and um and uh I it’s my personal opinion to Japan has to promote the Artic man and what’s the definition of peace I had good
Question um I don’t know I think to realize that it’s a good question is already I think that one part of answer right may we can continue maybe you you could suggested just one things it’s that if
It’s it’s e the the comparison between Japan and France may be interesting for for the question of the the culture diplomacy or or soft power if you have any suggestion to youo or reaction maybe
From from France point of view maybe we have so about soft Poore in Japan I think about uh oing games and when uh the Prime Minister like we Mario outfit and everything um I don’t know how Japanese
People saw it like in France we thought like it was quite funny but I think like we could not see our president do that because it will be too much like not serious and um yeah I think it’s
Not uh about s power in a lot of Europe European country we prefer to see like kind of a strong figure because if the if there is too much of a soft nice in Mage it can be seen as weak so what
What did you thought about this all the pink game things and everything maybe Lucian also you have a comment so very short comment please it was um it was just a question for y y yuk sorry um what
Do you think about the cultural policies in Japan because when you during your presentation I was thinking about the fact that in France there is a lot of um uh cultural investment uh to create an
Access for people like in you if you go to the m l Museum uh if you are under 26 and a member of the UN um EUR European Union you will not pay uh so it’s um just a link to to see that
Cultural policies is very important but uh we your presentation I was thinking where is the place um there is a place in Japan to discuss about that um thank you for both of you uh for comment and
Question so first answering to guel about that ab’s Olympic costume well to start off uh for Japanese youth the distance between the polit politics and politicians and our daily lives is quite huge we don’t see the politics connected to our daily lives we don’t talk about it at all
So seeing him wearing Mario which is very close to our daily lives made made us realize oh he’s the representation of Japan so we saw it quite in a friendly way but yeah we don’t we don’t require
The strong figure to the Prime Minister maybe in general okay uh and then answering to that like if there is a place in Japan to discuss about the importance of culture right well in Japan we have some like fundings like governmental fundings to protect the traditional Arts like Kabuki
And no but for the like more commercialized art form like Theater Arts and movie Japanese government just leave the like private companies to do their own things which is not enough like if they do that they will just do the they will just make the programs which which is going to
Make money but that doesn’t necessarily mean they can be a good quality or that that will be a good uh art form which can appeal to the International Community so I think there should be more place to
Discuss about that in like with the government thank you very much so I will make very quick summary so I choose transmission so I think the the the b in the field in the military question or geopolitical question or cultural question I think the a stake what is stake at is the
Transmission and I think I choose this this for for for for this session so now we will have a a very short break uh before uh so move to the next session thank you very Much [Music] So we just had a break and now move on to the next Japanese delegate please so now let me start my introduction video from R University an Kam and the them is food problem okay so now let me start about my introduction video hi everyone do you like
Eating food for me of course yes eating something delicious is one of the best part of my life then what do you think when you purchase food how many of us have t about food waste issues at that
Moment did you know that one third of all the food production goes to waste which is also related to environmental issues for example wasting food is equal to wasting energies and water in its production process moreover the more food goes to waste the more Greenhouse guses are emitted
In Japan it hard recorded that it was the hottest dry in 125 years this year people say one day we won’t be able to eat sushi due to the fish dying from rising scene temperatures yeah then what
Could be done to reduce food waste so now let me start my presentation next please so have you ever heard of this Japanese word m over the past few years this Japanese word has become familiar in
Some countries so let me explain about the meaning of this word at first so m is used in our daily conversations for example if there are some grains of rice left in a rice bowl people say it’s m and
The meaning of this Japanese word is quite similar to the English word waste F but I think what makes it different is it contains respect and affection toward natures and objects around us next slide please so International interest in this Japanese world was sparked by this woman wangari marai who
Is well known for getting Nobel Peace Prize in 2004 and it is said that she was deeply impressed by this Japanese word because this single word expresses the spr of reduce reuse recycle so
Today I want you to remember the meaning of this word in itself so next please by the way as I said in the introduction video onethird of all the food production goes to waste then how about
The current situation in Japan so in 2021 5.23 millions of ton of food went to waste in Japan which is more than food assistant amount by world food program and also this amount is as well as
That old Japanese citizens threw away one bowl of rice every single day next PR then helmet in the G seven countries we including the France occupies 10% of whole the amount of food waste in the world
So let me guess what you’re feeling right now it must be M next please so as you know the J Summit was held in Hiroshima Japan this year and during the summit the Hiroshima action statement for resilient food Global Food security has been declared and in the statement uh reducing food
Laws and ways were described more than three times and now it is obvious like all the J countries are united to you know reduce the amount of food waste but I think it depends on every single one of us
It whether this situation will be better or not so next please for me I’ve realized how serious it is a couple years ago and I’ve tried to you know reduce the amount of food waste by myself so first
One is participate in a business contest and I’ve tried to you know open my new business which is opening what generic restaurant which provide food cooked by non-st sizes of fruits or like vegetables in cheaper prices than normal ones but this project has ended up in fader because of the
Lack of money and the motivations of our members yeah and second one is working for environmental startup company in Singapore and I’ve tried to promote composting to the citizen in Singapore but every time I ask people why don’t you Ser composting they tell me they don’t have enough
Time and third one is being a student repor I’ve wrote and published a couple of articles about the you know companies or people you know working on E friendly behaviors but through these experiences I’ve realized one thing next please which is we cannot make sustainable societies without
Sustainable behaviors so next please so lastly let me share with you a couple of ideas that I have to change this Society better so first one is having a mtin spirit in our minds and I think we have already started this one from today and second one is doing eco-friendly decision making
So if we are going to the supermarkets there are nonstandard size of you know vegetables or fruits in cheap prices and comparing them with nor more one which one will you pick up I think the answer
Is already in your mind so what I want to tell you today is we all have a right to change the society better why don’t we make a society full of M fre and eco-friendly decision making thank
You thank you very much for your very Dynamic presentation and how do you feel now um I’m glad to be here today and I’m really relieved to you know finish my presentation thank you thank you thank you very much so please take a seat and we now we move to next French
Delegate so we we have from the them is the future of arts and nature yeah let’s start with my self introduction most of the world’s countries have embarked on a process of industrialization and have thus developed a market economy these countries today make economic growth the main objective of their
Policies as if the natural resources of planet Earth were in unlimited counties all that results in a rural Exodus and the massive adoption of Anan lifestyle disconnected from the living world human are developing a lack of Sensi established in Japan sens Moran or Forest kindergartens are
Alternative education kindergartens established in Japan in the 2000 Nao is Peres as an educational resource leading children to establish close relationship with plants trees and animals minina Yin are the testimonies of another way of buing in the world as human beings that
Can lead this children to take a stand against the overon contion of Natural Resources in the future from now uh let’s uh begin uh my uh presentation in our time humanity has to face ecological crisis such as climate change ecosystem collapse and Global biodiversity loss with the fix
Massive Extinction but most countries in the world are seeking economic grow growth um uh whatever the social and economical ecological consequences however there are there are limits to growth because the Earth is physically a finite planet and so if we continue the over conception
Of Natural Resources the human species could become extinct as the other species uh indeed human beings are a part of the living world but we tend to forget it nowadays uh since we have develop it we have developed the modern Paradigm U minino Yan this Japanese kindergarten are part of
Alternatives to the current education system in Japan they originated from forest kindergartens born born in Denmark in the 1950s and they then then they spread to other European countries um and yeah in Japan marinan have developed in local organization from the 2000s and uh the
Forest is considered as an educational resource in Marino Yan that allows children uh to acquire ass sociability creativity physical faculties physical and spiritual health and uh Sensibility uh Marino Yan’s pedagogy is also characterized by principle of autonomy Freedom democracy and horizontal relationship between adults and children Maple kids minino Yan is a first
Kindergarten in Yokohama where I did my field work uh which began last year I was and I was so surprised to uh observe to observe how much uh this children uh focused their attention on the smallest living world encounter in the in the street uh while it was a highly urbanized
Area and um yeah arrived in this uh small Forest uh children were immersed in the sensory reach Universe with the sound of criz kogi or that of cus semi uh according to the season a crayfish zaran became a true play Playmate when when children played in the sand and puddles and
Some children were Specialists uh in Catching uh grassers B um and other ons and other ons were particularly good for climbing trees uh they are they are used to making dorodango uh health and balls which remind us of Japanese dishes uh kibidango uh rice balls um they also gathered
As many uh flowers of Kimo uh fragrant Olive as possible so they could enjoy their fra fragrance uh all the day and our works through the park of Yokohama could become um tasty since we often are searching comestible acons sudaji the fruits Kaki the Japanese hug berries um enoi uh the Chinese
Bayberries yamamomo or the merries koomi that we enjoyed uh eating together um it is in this way that children of Marino Yan develop affective and attachment relationship with the living world accumulate a wealth of knowledge about nature reconnect themselves to Nature as well as their
Culture and uh become the testimony of another way of dwelling in the world as a human being finally Moran constitute the first step toward uh integrating all forms of life back into our daily lives and we learning to see ourselves as an in integral part uh of the living world thank
You thank you very much how did you think about your presentation um I was very pleased to to share my my research and I hope that um even if it’s a small event I I hope that um our speech uh
Could be have an imp impact on political decisions thank you thank you and thank you both of you to the very sharing very interesting uh very concrete actually project as well and so now we move to the
Discussion and so okay uh thank you for your presentation I have a question for Anu uh I agree with you that we must reduce the waste in individually but don’t you think that big Industries uh Agro Agro food industry uh is not the the primary source of waste of wasting food
And the this industry has to change yeah I thank you for your question first and I I also agree with your idea that you know the big company like also have you know work on to reduce the amount
Of the food waste but you know at the same uh time as I said in the like the presentation you know they occupies you know more than 50% of the you know whole amount of food waste but
I think uh that is something Beyond as I mean you know we are like you know just one consumer so being a consumer you know what we what we all could do from our you know everyday life is you
Know just you know we have to care about our like consuming you know habitat or like something like that so but I also agree with that you know the companies have to have a you know lot of things
That I have that they have to work on and I agree with your opinion at the same time thank you and maybe make a a boycott boycot yes it’s too much oh I think boycott is not so common in Japan so
It might be you know difficult in Japan to do so thank you so maybe guel so it’s more of an comment so in France the boycott is something very that we do very much about oil palm for example it’s
Very common but I wanted to do more comment about uh compost so I grew up in the countryside so I’m very much used of doing composting and everything but it’s true like I moved out of my parents house
To do my studies in Paris and I think it’s for me it’s not much of a lack of time but of lack of place because compost is it smells it doesn’t smell good and uh when you have a small apartment
When you live in this big city you don’t have any place to do composting so I know that in some place in Paris apartment there is uh communal Gardens that a lot of people you can pay to use a
Garden and it’s pretty good and they have compost but it’s something you need to pay for so I think I think that uh friends it’s not much of a lack of times but more of a lack of place and also I
Think money sometimes because I know that uh lately there you can buy kind of a compost box that you can use in apartment and everything but it’s pretty expensive and they make you buy like special capsule to put in your compass and everything so at the end it become more wasteful
I think so yeah just a comment than thank you maybe you have a reaction yes I have a reaction for you oh I didn’t know that they are sharing you know Garden near the Paris but in Japan they are
Also like Gardens on the top of the buildings in Japan even in the like Central area but they are they are you know uh just you know growing out the you know vegetables or fruit so I think it
Would be the good idea to you know composting by the companies and they you know could promote them to the like consumers and I think that could be the you know big movement from now thank you and
Nisa uh I have a comment for Andrew in France at the restaurant we have the system of doggy bag that you can take out the the the the meal that you you you don’t finish uh I want to ask
You if in Japan uh at the restaurant uh you have this idea or it’s or the system is not is not uh in place so I think in some of the restaurant in Japan we also have that kind of system right
Now but I think there are more spaces to you know to start this movement in Japan soan um so just I have just one question for uh Andre uh I was thinking about the fact that you
Don’t mention the um if there is some rules some law or maybe um action in local city in a local town in a department or something about the fact that people can waste a food and if there is um uh
An action by the by the supermarket maybe because in France there is a lot of uh now it’s new uh there is a lot of markets which give um give the the foods that uh it’s um yes it’s also the the
Date is finished or may or it will be finished in like two days or something like that so it is the there is um a same idea is same idea sorry in Japan oh sorry could you rephrase your question
Again sorry I couldn’t hear you well sorry okay sorry um quickly just um there is in Japan some rules some law or policies in local Town department or in Big City to take care about the
Waste of the food or also about wasting oh okay okay I got it so I think there are few policies in specific you know local area in Japan as well to you know reduce the amount of poy but we won’t
Be you know punished you know even if you know we you know make a thousand of fot was or something like that so I think it’s it will be be you know more strict in the future in Japan maybe okay so
Japanese delegate mentioned the key word m and the French delegate actually concept ofin so I ask one question to [ __ ] delegate do do you know about the Morino Yin the concept of Morin and do you if you have any reaction to that and yeah maybe ask question so of course so we have
Like the even in Japan like the one is located in the northern part of kyota city and I took a trip visit to that kindergarten and uh the the what is the what was the most important or almost
Astonishing to me was autonomy you mention that light and the actually like the first part of first meeting of kindergarten fullest kindergarten that children can decide what where they go to or what they’re going to do I think that is really important in every education so in terms of like
The nature nature education as well they can do whatever they can whatever they want to do and then that leads to the high development of their autonomy and uh the listening skills sometimes or the other the skills as well I think that is the one of the important part of kindergarten I guess
Yeah uh when I arrived for the first time in this model in this Forest Kinder carts um it was uh uh this point um um uh the fact that uh children were very um autonom uh independent
And uh uh for example uh when we before we go to the park they um they take all their their things like uh uh their bag their um their water all the thing uh uh themselves and the teachers uh didn’t say anything and so uh I was very surprised about that and uh
Also um yeah every every morning we we we um We Gather uh together in the uh children are just uh two uh from three years old to uh six years old but um even even they are very young
Um they can uh do a a debate together to to to choose uh the the park uh uh where they want to go um yeah and uh I think that this kind of education are uh the conditions uh to um to um
Make relationship with the Living World um and I think it’s very important uh nowadays because we are very far from nature and um um I think this kind of uh of school can um uh resolve um uh ecological prises yeah thank you very much and thank yes very quick quick reaction of
Course this is for Andre The Garden of hope is doing compost so you should come to the Garden someday thank you very much for your precious information and so I would make a very quick summary so the term that I choose is action because you both of you actually presented a very
Concrete action and you mentioned also the some Innovative aspect and also some limits and problem and some solution we discuss so so I think this is aemp of arising from this session thank you very much and now we going to move to to the
Uh the final final dialogue session and uh and we have we will have so delegate from Japan so from Hiroshima Global Academy harun the them is human rights okay so I’m going to start my speech what are human rights human rights are rights and freedoms that belong to every person
In the world regardless of nationality ethnicity sex language or any other status the word gender equality and diversity are widely spread nowaday however human rights issues still exist and remain hidden human rights problems certainly include prejudice against groups of groups
Of minorities but your individual human rights also matter do you love yourself are you being true to yourself rather than woring about what what other people think in my school there are many International students and they are learning together with Japanese
Students giving withd them I really think that we are all different and wonderful what can we do for the protection of the human rights for every individual today okay to start my speech let me tell you a story a few years ago I didn’t like
Myself because I’m shorter than others because I have a hard time speaking in front of people because I cannot speak English well because I’m not perfect at that time I was almost losing myself and becoming more and more negative
Even within the small community of my school I sometimes feel like I am a minority and still do to get rid of such yourself myself I started to think about what my identity is and who I am also I searched to see if there were others who couldn’t be themselves because of their
Surroundings and I found that there is ongoing discrimination against women migrants and LGBT people in Japan then I started thinking that I want to save and help those people who cannot do what they want to do because of their ing enironment so I’ve done sever project
With the hope of creating a better world where everyone can live their own lives for example I’ve launched a student organization with students who live in Japan as part of the org organization activities we held a discussion session and invited an expert who studies gender
Equality and inclusion also I studied a new crab in my junior high school to create a place where students can discuss topics related to Human Rights through this project I feel that knowing more about myself and building my self-esteem reads to knowing more about others
And respecting them turn our attention now to how human rights relate to peace nowadays it is said that we are on the eve of world war three war and nuclear weapons raise anxiety and Sten many ripes in fact total more than 210,000 people in Hiroshima and Nagasaki died in the five months
After the atomic bombs were dropped it can be said that such a war is a serious violation of human rights in the G7 Hiroshima Summit nuclear designment and nonproliferation were put at the top of the agenda at a time when nuclear dment has become difficult because of North Korea’s deputed
Missile test and Russia’s nuclear weapons threat in Ukraine in Ukraine the visit by the readers of the G7 the hosim PE Memorial Park was the first step towards sharing people’s desire for peace achieving peace based on nonviolence we still the protection of Human Rights it can
Be said that without respect for human right there can be no true peace so what should we do to end all kind of human rights violations and discrimination and to create a peaceful Society where we can respect each other to conclude first I strongly believe that we should we should first
Love ourselves and earn our own self-respect by Respect by respecting your own human rights you’ll be able to respect the human rights of others if you can start to see what you consider to be a drawback as part of your own personality you’ll be able to see what you consider to be the
Other person’s back Point as part of his or her wonderful personality so back to the first topic as I’ve come to get to know myself and face myself I’m less likely to compare myself to others and feel depressed even now I sometimes feel that I’m in the minority in the school Community
However I’m now able to look at such situations positively and enjoy them thank you for your attention thank you very much for sharing your thought and it’s absolutely wonderful to have high school students from Hiroshima in Paris today so how do you feel about after this
Presentation I’m I’m very happy that I could share the importance of like um self R yeah thank you for this option thank you very much and now we move to the final presentator so French delegate hi everyone so from Eon normal Superior Luan a is so the them is human light
Yes we can start the presentation so what has become of Human Rights I will present to you um the evolution of Human Rights and also the way uh that it is possible to understand and to um made a critiques about human rights in our societies to
Develop a better uh instruments geological instruments to protect human rights for people and also it is necessary to see that human rights are not really effective sometimes and uh it is necessary to to understand how we can ensure that we take account of the criticism of Human
Rights and how we can uh of their application sorry should we reject the University of the universality of Human Rights this is my topics today so I don’t have a so you have to listen to
Me so to talk about human rights it is necessary to think about the fact that in the beginning it was some ideas about people gity for instance the issues of death penalty in our legal system um
Or even the right to have peace to be free to be treated um equally essentially it was value were born in the western world after the second world after the second world war there is in the Western World the will that that happened especially the genocide and the extreme violence will never exist
Again and we have to create a new global a legal system to prevent the violence from happening and for the future for that how we can create a powerful legal system that embodies those ideas
And values the answer is not really simple yes it is also by the law with rules that organize the society but how we can have an effectiveness of of um these rules to do that is it is necessary
To create a distinction between individual whites um that are present in our society and the rights that they are um inherent um to every human to every human and every people in the world this idea of the University of the universality of human rights which was promoted in the Preble
Of the universal Declaration of Human Rights in um 1948 according to the universal Declaration of Human Rights we can sermon that rights do not depend on the country and that they are wearing a universal project the human rights ARS that all human being beings have fundamental rights
It is around this concept that organization are created like um the Amnesty International for example that there is also a lot of organization about that it is also an invitation for every government to act and to take care or of their responsibility in their own country but also to
Understand the human rights it is necessary to take care about the critics because it’s more complex than about the idea of um uh the human the universal idea of we are all equal in the world for example is necessary to take mind the criticism of the rules like the feminist critics
As if the law is made for men and created by men like like the fact in the beginning there is no place to take uh to take into account the violence exper experience by women in the private
Sphere outside human rights and outside the public sphere also when there is war poverty misery and fear and fear sorry it is maybe not possible to develop the gical instrument that human rights provide finally um there is a lot of way to criti Human Rights but the most important is not to is
To not forget the fragility of this rights and that it um and that what it seem um to be simple concept like fundamental rights is actually more complex in conclusion it is a question of the law provic framework without being blind to the singularity of space individuals territory
Politics economy culture in order to think the to think about the establishment of peace and to conclude I will just see the French law professor Mir Delmas Marti who said it is on the it is on this Con that human rights will be able to contribute to contribute to the imers of
A community of values while relativ relativism is dangerous a blide universalism that claims to impose itself on people without without their consent is not desirable either thank you thank you very much and after your presentations how do you feel uh a little
Bit but I’m very happy to be here and to um to share with you my um my view about human rights and also to present the critics that they are developed in France about human rights it’s
A movement um born in um 19070s in the University of of n also and it is um for me important because uh sometimes we talking about human rights like it’s Universal Universal and nor noral for everyone but also sometimes it is necessary to take care about the the practice about the
Territory to um made their really thank you very much and so now we move to the final dialogue and discussion so uh if you have question comments on either presentation maybe we going to start with yo uh so it’s a comment for L it’s sorry I cannot pronounce correctly maybe Luan thank
You Luan thank you for your presentation and during the break time you told me you a low student I’m also a low student and in that perspective well uh and there was a conversation about uh the oh never mind well in Japan we don’t really write down our rights and even
Uh in the low and even if we do it seems like people do not follow those laws like especially in the field of like working like there’s a limitation of work time and there’s a decision uh there’s a limitation of like holidays and everything but people working in the companies
Especially like buses in the 50s or 60s they don’t they seem to ignore those laws or like rights of the workers and and and I heard in the EU law there’s a sentence that PE workers in the
EU are doesn’t have to follow the order to work in different places or different countries they don’t have to move they can refuse those offers is is that true and if so do you think it is important to actually write down those rights and why is people in EU can follow them like
Not like 50s or 60s in ja um so thank you for your question I think that um it is also um um a question about the place of the states in this situation because law are made by the lawmaker
But also it is um a political ideology and A View to think because in France for example the labor code protect all of the all of the worker and uh we don’t um take account about the consentment
Of the worker because there is an equality um in the relation between the the boss and the worker so um the labor code protect the workers about um this inequality and also I think that it is
Necessary to take care about this fact and maybe Japan um is also a political way to not U develop more um more rules which can um give uh give the voice to the worker to uh change her um our um
Working condition but I think that in the you uh in the Au it will uh it will change also because about economic political about political economy or also um with the IDE ideological position now
Thank so gu yes so I have a comment I think it’s like both presentation but um I’ve just done an exchange program in Japan and in July August there was a a talking about a new law kind of
About lgbtq plus rights in Japan and I was very surprised in France we love to debate so when I heard about it I my first thought was to ask some Japanese friends their point of view and they told
Me there is no discrimination in Japan and about lgbtq plus so I was very surprised so I’ve done my research and so I thought I read the the law that they were talking about and it was about um
Making it illegal to uh do discrimination about lgbtq plus especially in a workplace and I was very surprised because in France it’s illegal to discriminate people because of their gender and sex so I was very surprised that in Japan it wasn’t it was still a thing and at the end
I heard like people weren’t pleased with the LW because you’re still allow to do it if you have a reason so I was very surprised to see that a lot of Japanese people didn’t seem very interested in this and still thought that there wasn’t any discrimination in Japan so what do you think
About it about the discussion about it in Japan oh in Japan people think that the topic of like the LGBT is like sensitive so like people don’t want to talk about it so like we cannot see well
Sometimes but um there we cannot see the exact discrimination but um in Japan um um people are not allowed I mean it is not all to married with same sex and gender so like comparing with other
Countries um Japan is like still you know at the bottom of how can I say you know at the bottom of yeah at the bottom of the stage thank you thank you okay yo please please add may add to harun’s comment about Japanese station I think there is discrimination
And that is why people are silent about it it is said like one in four people are supposed to be lgbtq plus like one of them but Japanese people do cannot see that because there’s discrimination so people doesn’t want to stand up and say hey I’m part of
It so I think that is the biggest problem of Japan the the state that people is thinking there’s no discrimination itself is a result of discrimination okay thank you if any other question k please um in Japan there is uh the femin of kosi and uh I I wonder um how
How do you think about that and because as a as a French we are very surprised that people accept to work a lot of of hours and um uh uh I wonder if um people think about uh changing this situation or not and uh my think question is um about demonstration
Uh for example uh demonstration for environmental issues is very uh small in Japan um so uh compared to other country um but in other hand you have everything in your culture uh to uh live sustainable in my mind so yeah uh how do you think about
That um I will a bit to talk about the demonstration in Japan and Uh I that some of you know that that flight is for future events that is the the March for environmental sustainability
And I joined I participated in that the last year I remember and then the I worked for like the two hours or one hour in the city or the K City on the street and now we were the saying like the the pro
To Pro protect the nature the protect environment that’s something like that and uh the what I felt was the a bit of embarrassing it is because C is like the the people on the street that shooting us the with their smartphones and uh I think like that the people’s attitude towards demonstration
Is clearly different and that is and for demonstration in Japan or that in other countries like Finland I also participated in demonstration in Finland during my exchange studies so I clearly Define the difference between the the people attitude in those countries any comments any question maybe
Luan I have a question about um the uh the subject of the human rights and I want to know if uh in Japan or maybe just your um your way to think uh how do you um do you see the
Question question of the universalism because in in France and also in Europe it’s very criticized because it’s like um a Wern country which uh wants to impose some um way to uh to see the to see how just to apply for rights and um my position is that we can universalize values but
Not the practice because it depend our of the um social issues at the moment at the place but we can be a um we can have the same position in the in the idea of the gity or maybe the the
The protection of people and the the rights to to be to be just in a safety place or somehow anybody want to react react and I I like to say but like that can you bit like that shorten the your comment just a bit could you
Please okay so um how would you do you see the question of the universalism in in the about the human rights in the world Japan there is a position in in Japan maybe I see it so you’re talking about some the Japan composition
For the univers the universality of the human light light yeah that is tricky um I think like the this is my the personal personal position but like I think like that we have a the politically the education about the human rights even in
The primary schools so I think like Japanese government or Japanese people are doing that type of education to achieve the universality of human livs even in even for even by the educating people from the earlier stage of their lives I think that’s the way the
One way of the looking at the universality of human lights in Japan I think thank you very much and so I will do make a very quick summary and it’s very difficult actually so well I’m not very satisfied with the ter that I choose but efforts because well on the one hand
Actually there are many questions of about the diversity of situation and everyday situation that that we confront and actually human light as a kind of horizonal expectation and on the other side on the other hand actually there are the efforts to to to create ideal universality is kind
Of Ideal and idea in order in a normative term to to to to to to to make a better Society better and I think between two we cannot choose one of one of two and I think we are still we have a space there
Are space to to make effort and more efforts and I think this is going to be the the time of the last session and so before concluding today’s event so I’d like to give actually each of the
Delegates like from Japan and from France a very I have one question and and you have very short time to to to to to react to me and the thing that my question is that what is the most important thing
That you learned from today’s discussion and maybe if I may I can maybe start with aumu and from the Japan delegate and then we move to the French delicates uh yes the I think like the we got think the B problems from divers perspectives so I think like the talking about the problems
With the people from different perspectives the different the like places I think that’s the way that’s most important way to achieve that sustainability I got the I got this thank you Andrew I think uh it is very important to educate um beyond the theme of this uh problems
Like educa uh economy environment uh war and human rights and so on because because it connects uh because all the theme connects and also I think the imagination for others who are different from us so words of my favorite book is uh when we don’t have uh when we don’t love ourselves uh
We cannot when we cannot love ourselves uh we cannot other uh we cannot love others so to imagine and love others is very important for realizing a peace forward beyond the theme thank you very much and yo very quickly so well from the today’s presentation I think
We all share like same kind of problem like a Glo global warming climate change and and like human rights but we deal with those problems in a very different way like we don’t boycott while you do and everything but I think learning how other countries people deal with those problems
Might be a hint to us like as well so I think it is important to keep exchanging ideas not just like these two countries but like all the countries thank you so for me the most important thing that I’ve learned today is balancing among you know anything is quite important
For example the in case of me like balance B in you know among the stakes Stakes holders in terms of like industry is quite important for me and also it’s you know in terms of peace or you know
Education and you know in many you know perspects you know it’s quite important and that’s all thank you um so today we all shared a lot of things but like the next we should do the next thing
We should do is like um tell what we learn today um to other student in of course France and Japan and and we should share like we should share our opinions to other countries too because they will have like they will have different perspectives and like I feel that discussing
From multiple perspect perspectives is very interesting yeah thank you very much and move to the French delegate so it’s not something new that I learned but uh I think that with all the presentation what I uh can remember from everything it’s very important to not to
Not have a uh to not only think about ourself but to think about other whatever it’s human or nature and only thinking about our is going to cause only destruction so yeah let’s let’s think let’s think about others thank you it’s very interesting to to hear to hear the different
Point of views of climate change peace education or um global warming and um my point of view is to study different point of views between France and Japan and also other countries because uh the the globalization well um because today uh the we have the globalization ation and uh it’s very important
To to hear the point of view of others and also and also talk about uh our our point of view thank you yes thank you uh maybe I’m going to say something controversial but I think uh with all this presentation those presentation This Global problem is capitalism and we have to fight
Capitalism now we discuss we had three hours of discussion it was good but now we have to act and uh maybe it’s very important to act thank you very much yeah thank you Remy for your courage um I
Think that uh education Link Link uh every subject today and uh it is very important to transmit um transmit values of Peace uh it is very important to tr to change our relationship with nature uh in
Order to live more sustainable and uh include uh diversity of humans um but uh yeah I think it is not enough um uh to change education and uh I hope that uh future politicians uh uh will take their responsibilities about that that um this subject very very important issues thank you thank you
Um so um for me for me it was very important to to um to be here because um it’s uh it’s rare I think it’s a chance to to have a place or moments to just take the time to exchange about a lot of
Out of a lot of ideas and also to listen to other people that uh that they have um a different point of view but also it was very um very um it was um for me like an end parents uh because uh I
See that we uh we have um the same um the same way to try to develop tools to fight against some issues about the global warming but also about the rights and just to conclude I don’t think that it
Was controversial because U capitalism um a lot of researchers shows that uh explain that it’s create a lot of inequality and also it is necessary to take account and if there is a controver a
Controvers sorry um I will try to explain and we listen to others and we find um an agreement thank you everyone and thank you to the delegates and thank you to the audience and thank you also to
The all the staff member from Hiroshima perfecture and so it was very amazing uh discussion and I’m very happy about it and also that uh the hirosa prefecture make this event happen and I’m deeply appreciate actually for for this and also so many discussion topics and so many times so many the
Was mentioned and I also think that the the the the the discussion and them is important and also the method is important and we didn’t mention that the language is also the one things we unite together thanks to the the English language but as we are also the foreign speaker and nonetheless we
Make an efforts some some some talk about the comparism and some talk about the the the the other type of the approach and I think it’s very important to to gather together and to keep the dialogue because closing this event is not closing the discussion is not certainly an ending point
But it’s l actually the beginning starting point so I hope that we can we can continue to share we can continue to to to to to keep a dialogue and open mind spirits and transmission all the
Key thems that we we evoke today and so I’m very very grateful for to to to meet you and to to to to have discussion today so so I’m I conclude here and thank you very much for everybody and that
