Cannot get there without you guys all right join the family without further Ado letās get into the video today I brought something that is very interesting about my culture Iām going to be talking about Angola but Iām going to be focusing on the part of of angala
That I come from itās a very small Province itās one of the 18 provinces of angala and it is um located in the North itās practically surrounded by both Congos and um the sea Iām just going to tell you guys about a few interesting facts um thank you Mom for sponsoring
This part cuz I didnāt know much it is a very small Province it has four main townships which are cabinda kak bu so in cabinda we speak f as our mother tongue and the F that we speak there is um um is also divided um into
The tribes so each tribe kind of like speaks their own type of fot like they have their own accent so itās the same thing but they have their own accent so we have muu m m and mu okay so those are the four um main um tribes that are there that are
Kind of like spread out in cabinda in cabinda thereās something really interesting so I am from cabinda and my dad is from cabinda so meaning that before I get married I actually need to go through something called Kaza detina and Kaza detina is like our
Tradition as muyu and um he um needs to put his daughters um in this kind of like ritual itās a traditional ritual that allows the girl to get married or to start dating this was in the past in the past in order for you to date you would have to go through that
Traditional thing so this ritual basically just teaches us how to be like a like a woman you see so they train us to literally just take care of the house um cook so basically prepares young ladies into becoming women so for example cooking cleaning and taking care of
Their future husbands if that may apply so yeah um the case no I get that 100% um I feel like in some households they have that here too um where women for instance you know they may get like a necklace or like a a promise ring or
Something you know what Iām saying and then when they come back to their parents and they ready to settle down not settle down letās say date well not the promised ring not the promis ring no what the promise ring for a promise okay promise cool but then
Again they still have these like like we use jewelry or promises or things like that narrative tter they may say you know what when Iām ready to bring someone home to meet my parents then the girl has or the guy has to go to their parents and again like I said itās in
Few households I donāt really know too many people that even do that like when itās time to bring somebody home to Mama no I feel like for us ours is more of like you know just gradual you just teach as you as they you know grow up
Like our son he was washing dishes at 6 years old yeah and we donāt use the dishwasher we actually wash the dishes yeah you know you canāt depend on things so but do we actually vocalize that to say hey I need you to learn how to do
These things so when youāre ready to be on your own you and it donāt have to be digit it could be learning how to fix a car or changing the tire you know what Iām saying no but I do know what we do have is the catian and the butan I think
For the boy yeah we have teaching them etiquette teaching them you know different Leadership Lessons and you know more of that like a year experience depending the different oranization that children are a part of so we do have that I think that would be the most
Closest thing to that that we have I donāt know anybody whoās involved thatās why so I guess thatās where my comment come from from the my experience and my upbringing from the people I knew not too many um like you said like you said itās gradually you
Feel me so we just go along with the punches we learn as we go but we implement it as we get older we donāt be weāre not weāre not you know strictly being told that a b and c and d is why you need to pick up these habits right
Well I did have eate classes so thatās about it you sure did donāt ask me what I remember baby I I know how to eat she Iām saying you tell we saw you with the with yeah no Iām saying with you know the different Cutlery like you plates
Yeah yeah like I know how to say thatās something we do do and thatās why I said the only thing that I know of that we have that I feel should be implemented regardless of class thatās why I said cuz we come from the hood nobody doing
That in the hood right right right um is the catian and the batian and and you know I got to take that back because my best friend was a part of the Cilan you know I wasnāt so it just depends on family different families like we all
Donāt have the same set of you know same set of what do you call it um what do you call it TR tradition can you say tradition we all donāt have have the same set of traditions but we have always had that a part of our culture is
Everybody just wasnāt you know some of those things have fees attached to it you know so thatās why I say maybe sometimes itās a class aināt no Fe for that itās a you got to be present right but you know what Iām saying make sure our children are part of it and
Everybody connected to us we already have our ideas on how we look at certain situations that we donāt got to vo vocalize on here but I say that everybody should at least have some way of tradition about going into relationships because it just creates a standard and it also creates a boundary
Within yourself to know what youāre going to tolerate when you finally settle down or ready to get up with a person our church our churches have it our churches have it classes singles for couples and for marriage exactly so itās different things you know access see thatās going a different yeah
We we diving y letās get back on it so um how this goes is you sleep on um on a little thing that you place on the floor I donāt know what itās called but itās called sha I donāt know what that is called but I place a picture as well so
In the past they wouldnāt tell the girl that sheās going to go through that and what they would do is like when they catch her they will beat her because you know I donāt even know why they do that and I used to be really scared about the
Day that I was going to be put in whenever I thought about the idea of going through that ritual I was just very scared because the people would slap I went to a few of those events when I was there and it was kind of like
Scary to actually um just be part of it so yeah people would beat the girl and then they take that girl they put her in rappers right the African rappers and then they cover her her head in in those rappers as well and they put her in a
Room in the past it would be a month but um from what I remember it hasnāt been like that for like very long time now it just take def takes two days and then itās done but like so what happens is the girl will be
Put in a room she will sleep on that thing on the ground and then they take clay the orange one orange red whatever you want to call it we call it to cly and they paint it or not paint it they like take it and they um spread it
Around the girlās face body and everything so after that the next day she takes a a shower hour and then make her eat the whole chicken by herself with banana itās like a stew but with no tomato not apparently you also get a lot of gifts because um people are supposed
To give you like um gold chains and um money if they want to see you they have to give money so that is kind of like the part that I have always been most excited about cuz I just want to see how much money Iām going to make from people
Wanting to see me and in the PS they would cut the girlās hair but thank God that is not um something that they have been doing lately I think awesome okay so I would love to hear from you guys what do the men all the young boys go
Through um during this process what does that look like yeah I wonder if itās s um similar to what we have seen in Gambia and what was the other one I believe it was zomia Gambia and zomia I think it was those two um so as Iām listening to her
The other things that we do have that I feel is like some of the things weāre listing itās similar but itās not similar at the same time what Iām saying like itās more of like coming of age or you know um in addition to the catian and the batian we have fraternities and
Sororities that they go through initiation processes and the you know all that stuff as well so thatās why I was like itās more of what you or your parents want you to do and again itās also more of what age you are for these things to be taking
Place yeah yeah so we we have similar things but not everyone would go through it like a ritual or tradition such as this yeah oh I got one like for manhood if you ready to be a young man some fathers would take their children to the farm to
Catch their first rooster Slaughter it and do all that other stuff you know what Iām saying because you donāt you want to be able to be able to protect and do what you got to do when the time to do you got to do so yeah yeah that like fishing and hunting
Yeah that was just extreme and now they have like kind of adapted to the times and you know unfortunately those Traditions are dying a little bit but yeah and the bad part about this tradition okay so after that youāre free to go you are a woman considered a woman
And now you can go and have your kids so this same tradition is something that um people donāt necessarily um people are not so fond of this tradition because for us more you because not all the tribes go through this process but for us um itās a itās itās a itās a ritual
That um kind of allows us to um have healthy kids tradition says that if you donāt have if you donāt go through that process you automatically youāre going to have sick kids but itās not necessarily true I feel like itās something thing that um they used to say
Just to like you know scare um the people cuz a lot of people had kids theyāre not in Angola they had kids elsewhere maybe they they lost in another country and they had kids and nothing happened I hope I donāt know but yeah so it is a culture that is taken
Very seriously by my tribe if you donāt do that you end up having sick children and they might die and also the other thing is for example if I Natalia get pregnant right now I havenāt gone through this ritual what happens is I have to go to a mountain and dance there
Naked with my partner because itās a punishment um we have to dance their naked and people called not people but this traditional people they kind of beat you up nobody knows who is who is behind the but um they you with um the olden days so that is one thing that Iāve been
Dying to tell you guys so um that is our ritual in in in Angola kabinda this is one interesting thing that makes me scared as well because tradition is not something that you want to temper with but um at what age are you told that you
Get what Iām saying cuz that will put a fear in a child to be like man you going have to go top of the mountain you know yeah yeah going down they get pregnant and they havenāt gone through the ritual so I donāt know the age interesting okay
This is interesting very much so that is something that Iāve been dying to tell you guys but yeah guys let me know what you what you think about this video this is all I have for you guys today I hope all right man make sure you guys check
Our Channel out right show her some love we really appreciate that different um again I I I look at it from two perspectives because I see how you guys got it going and I see how weāre brought up and just the people that we know around us how weāre brought
Up you know what Iām saying I feel like when we come to when it comes to our households we have mad similar stories like we know mama donāt play We Know pops donāt play thatās how that go but when it comes to like the leveling of tradition at a certain age it hits
Different on the depending on where you at and your how old you are so yeah yeah um again we donāt have nothing similar to that see I told yall it was similar but not similar at the same time we donāt have nothing similar to that but we do have traditions of you know
Manhood womenhood um for our young adults and also when you become like a part of our fraternities you know those are like historically rooted in African-American culture so we have things like that but we donāt we donāt have nothing like that you know so that is that was cool yeah nice to learn
About all right we hope you guys enjoyed this video with us be sure to subscribe weāll see you soon peace N
