Must have been living under a rock because it’s like one of the greatest podcast YouTube channels out there that talks about the Catholic faith and uh I have a long history with these guys they’re good friends of mine I just got done filming an episode with them and
Now they’re here with us so welcome the two Ryan we got Ryan delross Ryan sheal and father Rich Pagano from the Catholic Talk Show gentlemen say hi to the friends here at Catholic feedback hey guys we got two hours with Keith Nester today so we’re up in all you guys that’s
Right and and let me tell you I was feeling a little drowsy from the production effort here at at the talk show but hanging out with Keith I’m revived and I’m ready to go and it’s such a joy to get to know everybody with the with Catholic feedback and the crew
That you’ve developed out there is just inspiring our Catholic faith is bringing us together and now we’re here together to talk about the faith on your channel thank you Keith for inviting us oh man it’s an honor I know we’ve been working on this for a couple of years now um and
I’m glad it’s finally it’s finally happened so I I just want to tell you guys real quick how I found the Catholic talk show right early into my my conversion I was of course surfing through YouTube and I I found you guys and right away when I saw your intro I
Thought this is irreverent Madness with this rock music and I love it I thought it was so great oh that was you we’re being trashed for our Music well I so I have a lot of anonymous Twitter accounts and with like you know like uh you know Rosary Crusader of Doom
Or whatever and I would go on there and make all those no I’m just kidding but um I I I feel I feel like Kindred Spirits with you because you know I’ll have people that will that will leave similar remarks on my stuff they’ll be like oh we love your content for the
Most part but why do you have that satanic evil rock music at the beginning of your of your uh you know podcast and I’m like you should have heard what I wanted to have that got denied but yeah I was throwing out like some Christian rap and these guys like shut me
Down I I think you actually picked that I did I think you did yeah of course I did you know that song called oh my goodness it’s called squeaky clean that’s the name of that look at that that’s what it’s called that’s see that’s the only that’s the response you
Need to give hey we’re playing a song called squeaky clean I don’t know what you guys are listening to right that always that always reminds me of like when people will make comments to me I bet you guys do this get the same thing well they’ll be like hey they
Played an ad for you know medical marijuana or some kind thing before your video came out and and as if we have any control over what ads YouTube chooses to put before our stuff and I’ll remind people I’m like you know the algorithm decides which ads based on your internet
History so that’s so true we get that all the time and I one thing I don’t read a lot of the the comments it’s a busy time for priests but I do love reading what sheal responds to people explaining them to how the how the algorithm works yeah well like hey man I
Were’re watching your show but then we got you know we got ads for medical marijuana and lingerie like hey dude you need to check your search history that and get some Covenant eyes or something man because that’s on you because that’s how the algorithm works man they’re serving you ads tailored for your
Personal experience so I don’t know booah so keep that in mind so I started watching this show and my my wife is not a huge consumer of Catholic YouTube okay she doesn’t really like typically it’s whatever I’ve got playing that she’s kind of around and sees I we were we
Were driving somewhere and I was listening to cathic talk show and we were just listening to the audio and she was just like oh I really like that one guy on that show that you listen to I’m like okay well which one is that and she
Was talking about the cic talk show and she’s like I really like that one guy I I just really relate to him because there’s like one guy on the show who’s like really intellectual sounding and then there’s this priest and then there’s this other guy who kind of
Reminds me of like Spicoli from Fast Times Ridgemont she’s like I just love that guy because I feel like I feel like you know we’re on the same level I’m like that’s delross and I got to meet her about a year ago I suppose and uh it was amazing
Time we uh spent together going to dinner with our wives oh it was a it was a blast for those of you who don’t know we’re talking about um there’s an Instagram video out there of Ryan stealing the rosary van but we stopped through down there in
Texas and we got to hang out with the Del crosses and we just had a blast with you guys so I just I just love you guys appreciate what you guys do and I just want to ask you guys some questions about what it’s been like for you
Because the Catholic Talk show has really exploded I mean I think you guys have what over 200,000 subscribers now I mean it’s just it’s just blown up and I’m just so hats off to you guys but how did this whole thing get started in the first place yeah that’s a depends on
Which Avenues of stories you want to go to but um practically speaking it was when you guys were up in Napa and then spiritually speaking is when we went to Mexico City to Our Lady of Guadalupe I I would go all the way back to when I was
On Facebook uh father Rich was driving to Southern California to go to college and as he was driving I was seeing his updates in the cities that he he was in and I’m like holy crap I’m gonna be there when you arrive and I was being
Sent by the bishop after three years of public ministry as a priest to go study Communications and to get an MBA and executive production yeah and then when I went out there you guys were Consulting with the university yeah to help them in their marketing and their
CPI or whatever it was that you guys were developing yeah and then and then we just sat down and we looked at each other and I was like God’s gonna do something with us we didn’t know what it was and we fumbled around just like everybody does we were working out
Ourselves I remember you called me like hey man I I met this guy that I used to hang out with when in the Seminary and we hung out all night and he’s like from New York we just laughed all night and Jen told me to be quiet but we stayed up
To four in the morning laughing I remember you talking and that was oh was this guy and then Ryan and I became business partners after a a lengthy history and he’s definitely somebody that I I trust his judgment on everything and after uh rich and I
Fumbled around for a little while I met a guy at Jen’s reunion in Southern California like maybe six months later eight months later and he’s like I got this podcast guy and I met him and he’s like we’ll do the podcast for free and we’ll split ad Revenue I was like okay
So that means it’s like a no risk entry into podcasting and um so I I after that after I was in Southern California I flew to Northern California and we were at the Napa Institute conf conference and I was with that guy and so I’m like
Well this is the guy we got to convince because he’s kind of like my no guy and uh so we’re sitting there talking to him and he’s out on a Ledge we’re all just drinking wine and hanging out it’s what you do in Napa right and I was like this
Podcast guy we do a podcast and he kind of turned around and then he turned back around he goes we got to get f father Pagano and so that’s how the whole thing started and uh the rest is somewhat history and then simultaneously I’m studying the Dynamics of communication
And podcasting Joe Rogan blows up and it’s like you know fascinating New Concept of you know sitting at a table having a conversation and the viewer the person on the other end is a part of that communication a part of that conversation creating a really interesting dialogical kind of uh
Communication where people are really dialoguing and with it’s a Revival of dialogue especially from you know the social media age which put a death to dialogue podcasting kind of creates this interesting conversation so when sheal was like you know you were up there saying the only way we’re gonna do this
Is uh Pagano and and it just all fit together choreographed by God’s hand it was really amazing how it all started well I I was looking at it and we were we were there we’re out in the balcony not listening to any of the conferences because that’s also what we do in Napa
And we’re sitting there we’re having some wine smoking some cigars or cigarettes or whatever and we’re talking about it and you know I’m thinking okay there’s so many different types of people out there that they need to be nurtured and fed on a Catholic podcast and there’s only certain things that
Each one of us can do and we started talking about who would fulfill each role for these people when they’re listening and we know that Ryan was going to kind of serve the role as the audience and he’s going to be asking the questions and being curious and being
The salt of the earth and giving the show all its flavor and giving it its personality and I was going to be able to provide some of the the context or the structure to the show or the or the topics but then it really left us well we really need to
Have spiritual guidance it’d be irresponsible for us to go on there and talk as authorities without having any sort of real uh you know ecclesial training or any real practical experience in ministering so we knew father Rich we had worked on with a few things through you Cath the Keith which
You also you know stream some of your stuff through and I just thought look he this is a guy who’s in the same age group he’s he’s a really great speaker and he provides the kind of you know if delross is the you know the heart and if
I’m the mind he’s the soul of the show or or heart and soul whatever you guys are kind of hypostatic Union on that right but uh it really it really only works with the three of us I think any one of us if we had what a show with
Just ourselves it would be L tank yeah yeah yeah too much I I love it because you know and I know we all had to do what we had to do during Co but I love that typically you guys are all three together in the room because there’s a
Chemistry that happens between the three of you because you’re sitting there with each other and if you guys were just you know boxes on a screen like what so many of us do I think it’s that type of chemistry and that type of conversation just isn’t as free flowing so the fact
That you guys and I know you all live in different places so yeah when the three of you descend to your studio to record these shows it’s I know it’s a big time commitment and and uh but it’s but it’s awesome that you guys have done that so
When you guys were working on this how did you decide what kind of content you wanted to make yeah that’s it we’re gonna we’re gonna the showrunner here because you know we would not be anywhere near the success that we’ve had without sheal and really the inventorying of what he does
In research and then putting together the shows and the content based on what he’s seeing online so I was looking at it and we we we’ve said this really since the beginning that you and I started working together Ryan is a lot of times people in Catholic Ministry are
Answering questions that no one’s asking right the USCCB is releasing a document on some pastoral thing that no one really is focusing on or people are talking about minute details of liturgy when you got people either suffering or have very general questions so we tried to answer we did research we’d go and
Find find what are the top Google searches that people are asking for okay they’re asking about liturgy they’re asking about Mary they’re asking about prayer they’re asking about uh the specific sacraments of the church Etc then we also have a website called ucatholic the letter UC catholic.com
That has you know a decade’s worth of content and we’re able to go in there using Google analytics and other analytics tools and say okay what are people searching for what are they engaging right what is on their hearts because we don’t want to just go there
And talk to hear ourselves talk we were trying to really engage the culture and evangelize so we’re using kind of modern marketing tools because we Ryan and I are Partners in a in a marketing company called fusa who does a lot of marketing for church organizations and we’re using
Advanced tools and analytics to find out what works best in marketing so we applied those same strategies to the Catholic Talk Show in the topics so that we knew that when we’re bringing something it’s something that people actually had a desire to hear so that’s where that comes from and it’s kind of
Funny because now we work with a lot of the biggest Cath podcast because they’re trying to grow and we’re using some of the recipe that we have created for ourselves to help the church grow and that’s that’s what our company is about it is using Mo modern marketing
Practices to help Ministries grow to reach more people to reach the right people to tell them the right things to tell the story to draw them into something that will lead them closer to Christ yeah that’s that’s amazing so what’s what’s uh some stuff that you guys have have learned just about
This whole world of YouTube and and everything like that I mean I know it’s people get in everybody’s like oh I’m going to start a podcast I’m start a YouTube channel and there’s a lot of things that go along with that how has that how has that affected you like what is something
That you’ve learned about that that’s been helpful to you in your faith or maybe something that’s been challenging to you well one thing’s for sure is you know when we started out just the amount of uh amount of criticism you know was like so heavy and I remember um I would
Sit down in the middle of the night always in the middle of the night and I’d start reading these these Dark Night of the well that’s exactly right so then I’m like sitting there and I’m like totally isolated I’m like should I even be doing this what should like Lord are
You asking me to do this like this is just painful and like and it was it was uh it was hard but then you’re so humbled too because then you’ll you’ll come across a testimony of somebody massively you know being touched by the Ministry or by you know something that
We’ve shared in conversation or in content that really helps people to come to a form of encounter with Christ in the Catholic faith and then seeing the the rates of people returning to the faith that maybe have fallen away or people who come to the Catholic Church
Through the lens of our our simple approach our introductory approach to Catholicism is is really encouraging because much you know leaning much so on the on on the studies of sheal you know these are PE these are questions people are asking and let’s talk about it you
Know let’s kind of just share our hearts share the story share the history and and then you know learning that process seeing what works in conversation I remember initially we were all over the place and we were talking over each other and we were all enthusiastic and
Excited about you know starting this but then we start hitting we started to hit a Groove and we just knew who we were we knew the roles that we played in the in the show and and that was all very very insightful and then just locking into the content right away because that’s
Why people are clicking they really don’t want they don’t want to hear personal stories and like these long drawn out goofy you know tail spins you know they they want the content and and the goofiness comes in the middle too which which creates a little bit of
Humor yeah I I would say Keith like it to to speak to that it seems kind of like we just hit a Groove but it was really over the course of years of practicing uh you know we’re all three in different places we fly in together
We have to get a lot done in recording so all of that uh combined with the fact that we have not created enough content to understand we we knew what the pieces were but we were not able to put them together well from the beginning and there was tension sometimes there was
Almost fisi arguments uh there’s some bloopers that we have that we will not show any body but you know I would say the the the biggest obstacle that we had to overcome was ourselves and and focusing on the greater good of what the show can can provide to people uh in
That process uh was grueling at times and I feel like we have hit a Groove we do understand each other a lot more we’ve become closer friends obviously through trials that uh you know you you have to humble yourself before your brother uh you have to consider prayer
And and and using other means to come together uh so I would say that’s probably the biggest obstacle that I experienced you know with everybody I I would I wouldn’t say this is an obstacle but this is something that we learned and was a very conscious decision was
The kind of content that we were going to produce now I don’t want to sit there and talk badly about anybody who produces YouTube channels where they’re really trying to address things that are wrong with the church or or contentious issues within the church uh but there’s
People who do that very well and that’s not us and we didn’t want to focus on scandals we didn’t want to focus on arguments we really wanted to lead from a very positive point of view so instead of talking about well this Cardinal is doing that and the pope said this we’re
G to talk about what’s the best tasting Church wine right we’re gonna talk about you know what’s what’s what’s holy water and why do we use it fundamental things that we are able to deliver with joy right because I mean we’re an Easter people and if we were only going from a
Negative route I don’t think I would even want to do the show and I think we all agreed that we didn’t want to go that route we wanted to be positive fun and you know we did a reaction video you know politically one time and at the
Conclusion of it we looked at each other and we’re like Noah like that’s not us yeah that’s not us this is not this doesn’t feel right and it’s it’s not settling well in the heart and what we’ve learned too is that there’s so so many more people out there that need to
Hear the the the benefits of what the church offers them to come closer to Christ and to to join the family that we have in the Catholic Church amidst all of these things that you could find that are negative right there’s so much more to gain for so many people out there
That have been marginalized by the church in one way or another that we would rather reach less people but reach them in ways that that bears fruit in their lives spiritually speaking and draws them closer to the truths of the church that they can benefit from from and live more fulfilling lives yeah
God’s not going to we’re not going to get to the gate and say Peter’s like how many views did you get if you had to more views we’ have let you in you know it’s really about how we minister to people and how we lead people to Christ
And his church so that’s we’re all passionate about that you know yeah it definitely comes across and I think that’s like a a philosophical conversation because that you have to have when you’re doing anything online because on one hand we want to have we want to have that interaction with our
Audience we want people to feel like they’re they’re listened to and we’re accessible but at the same time you have to be careful not to get hijacked by what everyone wants to hear you talk about yeah yeah I think that’s a great point and you know it’s easy to get
Caught up in certain things uh certain data points certain you know uh outcomes of your show uh that can lead you to uh you know different conclusions about what you’re doing and why you’re doing it you know yeah and that happens you know pastorally too and Keith I’m sure
You experienced this as a pastor where people want to take control of the pulpit and and forcibly Express like this is the message that that you need to preach and you know that’s why I really like the dynamic of all of us being a part of that we’ll jump on calls
And we’ll look at the proposals that Shields put together and then we’ll hone in and we’ll all agree like yeah that makes a lot of sense and we’ll lock at the level of the heart and we’ll pray together and we’ll humble ourselves before the gifts of the Holy Spirit and
Just you know let’s have let’s have a conversation and and see where this goes and uh and it’s just it’s been it’s been a beautiful experience a lot of fruit and I mean even like hanging out with you and and working with you guys on your show and having you on our show
Like we’re very like-minded we we do what we do because we want people to know Christ in a greater way uh with whatever we have to offer offer uh but but even more than that we Forge friendships you know like like you know rich and I have become friends again uh
He’s basically offered his priesthood in his Parish to the talk show to continue doing this with us but in that we get Brothers and Sisters in Christ from his Parish that you know we’ve become friends with and we’ve grown with together and that and you know in times
Of need like you know with my wife and her brain cancer like I’ve got people praying for us through the rosary crew through through our talk show through his Parish like it’s just really a beautiful you know uh movement of online and offline communities that you know
You just don’t see any boundaries there yeah I think that’s I think that’s huge I mean it’s easy to talk about the negative things of YouTube and the the the things but I also feel like there’s so many positive things there’s so many ways that you can get connected with
People and grow but sometimes you have to learn who you are and you don’t figure that out right away sometimes it takes that that sense of building the airplane while you’re flying it to kind of go okay that you know and we try things sometimes I don’t know about you
I’ve tried plenty of things and then have changed directions after that and went okay I didn’t really like that or that was great and I didn’t expect it to be yeah that’s advice that we offer people too that are getting into podcasting and first I’m like that’s
Great you know I mean you you you’ve decided to do something that can reach people and and hopefully help them yeah uh but the reality is I can’t put on a napkin what you exactly need to do it’s stuff that you have to work out by trying and failing and trying and
Succeeding and and just uh not quitting you know persevering through it yeah yeah and and you know something I’ll add too is you know there is no textbook to this you know like you know you have to Pioneer Ministry into unknown territory just like you know the the 16th century
And into the 17th century you know you’re pioneering into a whole new world you know and and the the digital continent is a new world we’re learning the space and we’re learning you know as we as we suffer through failure and you know there’s plenty of times where you know would I
Love to be able to have you know extended period of time of studying all of the materials and and the show notes that that Ryan will put together and get to us you know a day out or two days out and it’s like or three months out or or
Three months out that happened once but like you know like to to be able to kind of Juggle that like you know is you would like I would want more time or we would want more time we even talking about it this morning like I would love
To be able to look at these two shows a little bit longer so I could just kind of wrap my mind around you know some of the comment at some point you’ve got to be like let’s just go for it and and then you know just trust that the holy
Spirit’s going to provide and we have computers up and we could we could look at content we could look at the Saints we could look at scripture and and we could look at the catechism we have a familiarity and just and be confident that God has formed us and prepared us
For this present moment of just giving testimony and sharing the beauty of the faith yeah I think the a big change happened for us when we kind of got kicked out of the nest so Ron was talking about how it when we first got it started there was a group that was
Kind of showing us the ropes and and letting us kind of crash on there on their studio and their digital couch on their digital couch right and they’d let us go in there and then after about a year they’re like okay we really don’t have this time to offer you anymore
Because we have to do it for paying clients and whatnot so we’re like okay well that really could have been the end of the show and it was kind of tenuous where like how do we even continue and we’re like we rented a a little room in
A garage in a like a storage shed it was it was a storage closet a storage closet next to a boat and and next to a maintenance guy that was constantly using chainsaws and heavy equipment like Sanford and Sons behind it it was cement with a steel
Roof and it was a million degrees in there is in Houston and like we we got locked in there that one time Howard built these they’re still alive junk we got this at like a flea market and we just said okay look are we doing this because we want views or are
We doing this because it’s you know a good thing to do and it’s you know the views happen afterwards but it’s the orientation of what you’re doing that’s really matters right if you don’t get any views and you’re doing something worthwhile it’s still worthwhile yeah even if it’s for one person that’s right
Yeah and as you know Keith like doing this personally uh you receive a lot of spiritual uh fruit from talking about your faith with other people or sharing or praying the rosary like even though you’re doing it online and you’re a podcaster so to speak uh you’re still reaping the
Benefits of contemplating our Lord and and praying with other people like you just can’t beat that yeah that’s my favorite thing about getting to do this is the people that I get to meet in terms of of guests being a guest and just the people that I’ve met through
Interactions on social media it’s been incredible and I’ve I’ve got some what I would consider lifelong friends from from being in this space yeah and that’s the that’s the joy of it tell tell us real quick about the bobbleheads though where where did where did that come from
And did you ever have a moment you’re like I don’t know if we can pull this off or we should do this or whose idea was that it was mine yeah I think that was yours well I was well I was just looking at the table and I’m like I I
Think I I think actually I was inspired by like uh pardon the interruption I think I think they do bobbleheads or something just looking at okay what works out there in the secular world right what works how are people leveraging media and and film and YouTube and podcasts to get a message
Out and how can we how can we do the same thing because like I am sure St Paul would have done the same thing that we’re doing now but probably better and modern Communications and technology and videos that’s the Roman Road system of the 21st century right the apostles used the
Roman roads which is the peak of Technology back in the day and we’re using podcast and Google and whatnot but I’m looking around and our desk was pretty bare and then so I’m like okay I got the address and I ordered some bobble heads um I got the crucifix right
There um we got a Mike Schmid’s candle that came much later yeah we got Jesus sling some kids shot thank you tiisha thank you Tanisha I got the this Crusade here at like a flea market on our pilgrimage to Santiago de compostella we got the Thor bable commor commemoration
Yeah we got all kinds of stuff we got pictures of I mean it’s just it’s all all of these are very uh dear to us you know all these images and we got Step Brother picture with me and Howard our producer yeah we got uh David L Roth
Over here and na Li and then the consecration to Our Lady of Guadalupe that that we referenced before uh when we went to Mexico City and just consecrated the work together and uh and you know the company that that Ryan sheal and and Ryan delross um are leading to great success in
Marketing has been consecrated to Our Lady of Guadalupe as well so you know this was a a a beautiful gift from um the community here at St John Paul II uh for our cultural programming at the parish and it’s its home is right here with the talk show and the digital
Efforts that we’re doing and the bobbleheads are from sabes.com sabes.com sabes.com I don’t even know if they’re still that’s a real thing that’s a real thing I just went on Google I’m like St bobble heads sabes.com like cool okay buy him you know unbelievable unbelievable that’s that’s that’s so
Cool we went through a few sets of them though like and we’re missing St Michael because he’s gotten his wing broken off a few times and what do you mean like what happened what what caused that to happen are you guys like Howard beard just kind of brushed
Up against a couple yeah you guys are the walls wrestling that’s happened too yes that’s that’s amazing I I want to ask a couple other questions about the shows that you guys have put out and I know you know I don’t want to put anybody on the spot so and I know that
I’ve been on your show a few times so excluding the shows I’ve been on just so you know like has there been any show out there that just went and you don’t need to use names went completely sideways and you’re like okay I don’t even know if we can show this thing it
Went just totally crazy there’s been a few episodes that we’ve recorded that we’ve never released that were so bad we’re like dude we can’t show this this sucks I mean this is like two months ago it still happen was that because of your guest or was that because of other that was
Because of us we couldn’t get together yeah there was one time we were G to do an episode on our lady of magore and then we found out that we fundamentally disagreed and got to a big fight and then she and then she was like I’m leaving tomorrow morning I’ll see you
Guys later I’ve got something I need to do I did yeah whatever yeah not be around you um we’ve had episodes that we’ve recorded with guests where we’re like this just doesn’t feel great we’ve had episodes with guests that we haven’t released because it just it it didn’t
Work right um but typically I think we do a good job of screening our guests and everyone’s coming on with Goodwill and we kind of we know who if we were to bring on would probably lead us on a path we didn’t want to go to so we just typically don’t
Have but there there has been though too to like look at this through another angle Keith where it’s completely gone off the rails and like and it’s mainly because of one person right across my way here that I’ve known 20 years I am so shocked by that you know like the one
That I’m the one that I’m thinking of right now because this is the thing that that’s sparked my memory was we were talking about the Catholic origins of like bourbon and scotch and all this other stuff and we this is when we started in Hollywood and like Sheil and
I are locked into like a very serious conversation and all delross ising is just like slaming on the of table and like it’s just get B and we’re like we got to land the plane like right right now he’s like I’ll fight you oh man well I you know the the fact
That you guys are what brought you together was your friendship it wasn’t that someone said we need to start a podcast yeah we’re going to take applications and have tryouts no it was like the three of you had this relationship and this friendship and it just sort of like
Worked its way out you know and and it’s it’s become this thing where I I can’t imagine watching the show without any one of you there I just think it would be so so different um well it’s like you started your podcast too with your wife
After Mass you know I mean it’s it it just organically begins and and really like like she me mentioned before you know delross and I stayed Loosely in contact we’ve known each other for over 21 years now or whatever 20 years or whatever it’s been and um you know but
Going over to your house seeing the kids grow seeing you have the the kids over the years and then the conversations that we had you know like till 2 three four o’clock in the morning and and your wife being like you know you guys just need to like stop talking like little
Girls like Middle School girls until 4 but like you know you guys should you guys should have like a show or something like talking like this you know there’s been so many different prophetic moments but then also just the relationships that we’ve had just me getting to know fusa the team getting to

Ahead so what have you guys had conversations about other ideas together I mean maybe there’s a Catholic Talk show book out there or Catholic Talk Show video game or I don’t know some kind of like I don’t know I think about other ways that you could continue to reach
Out because I really do feel like what you’re doing is unique in the sense that you use the word fun a little while ago and I would describe that as it’s fun to listen to the Catholic Talk Show it’s fun to watch you guys because let’s face
It a lot of YouTube Catholic content is good it’s informative but a a lot of it isn’t very fun but you guys have somehow managed to thread that needle of giving us really interesting information in a in a way that that is fun because I I
Mean I can’t I’m trying to think of the episode I watched one time about like stuff that you want to go see in Rome and you were talking about like John the Baptist head and all these different things of different places in Rome you go see and like you could watch
Other videos about that stuff that would not be fun it would be kind of boring but you guys managed to like pull that off dude thank you so much Keith for saying that and we we genuinely you know do have fun and there’s there are some
Viewers that say you guys are having way too much fun about such a serious topic but yeah we do have a we have a pretty large sense of humor um but we you know like before we even put this show together we were whiteboarding concepts of things that you know we really want
To roll out especially in Parish Ministry too and and the digital infrastructure of evangelization that we all see I wrote a white paper on on you know the church being at the at the steering Forefront of all of the new technologies that are coming out augmented reality mixed reality virtual
Reality and AI you know back in 2017 and it’s like we we conceptually drew up a lot of different concepts this was the most you know reasonable foothold that we could get into the into the ground to move forward but being at a at a bolstering and booming Parish right now
And growth and and the excitement of evangelization the new evangelization you know we have a number of things that we want to roll out in the in the very near future together one of the things I’m thinking of is like the vocation the vocation platform that we’re you know
Really developing discernment as a way of life for all people not just vocations within the priesthood and the religious life for men and women in the church but living the very discernment values of what the church has taught for over 2,000 years and really expressing that among other things that I could
Think of that we’ve all talked about within the scope of evangelization yeah I would say practically speaking we are all this is not our job right I mean this is not you know what we wake up every morning and we’re like What are we gonna do for the Catholic Talk show how
Are we going to do it it’s you know he’s he’s the pastor of a of a like you said a booming Parish he’s raising millions and millions of dollars to build a beautiful Church campus I mean this takes a lot of his time uh you know
Sheal is running a company I’m running a company with him it’s it’s not very practical for us to turn into the talk show as much to do that especially when we’re in other places but we are talking about uh uh Ryan and myself moving here
So that we could have time and space to do that while we’re working on what we’re doing and so I’d ask your uh uh listeners to pray for us consider that and I would say that in our in our professional lives or in your PRI life
We get to explore a lot of those things that inform the show so you know with fusa like we’re doing augmented reality stuff for for uh cathedral in San Cathedrals we’re doing we’re working with the Vatican on marketing campaigns we’re helping all different a lot of the
Podcasts that you watch out there I won’t mention names on our clients but we’re working with them behind the scenes yeah so and and I’m currently working on on a couple of production initiatives too right utilizing augmented reality and Ai and then also you know uh uncovering the the the uh
Unknown story of Communism too in a docy series and you know we’re working together in respect to like the marketing of that and so you know there’s a lot of things that that we’re doing like you’re saying that that although when someone comes and say hey
We’d really like to get someone from the Catholic talk to to do an interview like Augustin Institute or something they go for this one not these two and it’s and it’s humbling because it it’s you know so you get to do a lot of cool stuff like that yeah like and
Working with the Productions with Augustin ins like we’re working on one on the Creed right now so um and and we did one on on death last year so it’s just it is it’s it’s a privilege to be in the position that we are by God’s you
Know design and and you know by his Providence and you know to be able to you know share the beauty of the faith through new and invigorating ways to preach the gospel that being said we’re having a movie made about our lives hey Keith do your listeners want
To hear a really funny story about our interview with Mark Wahlberg I guarantee you they do baby this is a good example one one sideways this is like one of those stories you know like your wife tells a story at dinner and you’re like
Uh I didn’t see it that way I saw it this way so we’re interviewing Mark Wahlberg uh for the movie Stu father stew and we get a date set and so the dates on Friday that’s what we thought so it’s Thursday uh I am by my swimming pool at
Noon I think and I’m drinking a margarita talking to my wife I’m I’m in between pastoral visits and I have to go to the hospital and and visit a parishioner that was in need and I’m I’m literally leaving my office to get get in the car and I’m 70 cars deep in line
At school picking my kid up from school and then you’re calling us and saying the interview is like intim and then I’m like LOL yeah right whatever and then and then you’re like no it’s really happening right now that’s the stuff I have nightmares about you guys I just
Like wake up the middle of the night I’m like what happened so okay so so what happened but but just so you know like he in early episodes you you would see us saying on our early shows wouldn’t it be cool because we’re in Hollywood to interview Mark Wahlberg who’s a very
Faithful Catholic and you know somebody that a lot of Catholics look towards as you know somebody who is an exemplary model of of living the Catholic faith in the church he stays prayed up he stays prayed up and then we like pin Mark and and Donnie Wahlberg and like some fight
Like boxing match so we we’ve had a couple hypotheticals we’re like who want to fight Donnie or Mar Donn or Mar yeah Mike schmitzer father Rich right I’ve got him I’m reaching height so I don’t know yeah but Schmitz I think he’s got that lowend he bite your he does the CrossFit
Too he does the CrossFit so yeah we were always like hey let’s get Mark Wahlberg on and then when we do get him on we absolutely drop the yeah we totally PP it so but the funny the funny thing is is I’m next door uh my mom’s house is
Next door that’s where my studio is and so I’m like well I can get there and so but but I didn’t have time to change so I’m wearing this like Hawaiian shirt it’s like straight Miami teeth like and he’s all sweaty his hair’s like coming out of the top of his
Shirt his hair is all watch to my hair like this man and I’m I couldn’t get to my studio I was too far from it so I’m calling home I’m like like Kelly get the room cleared out get anything I need it set up like imediately as fast as you
Can I’ll be home I’m doing like what I was priesing so I was good man it’s like I just I I got in the car literally came right here jumped on the computer and I was in the set so I so I get into this
Like waiting room first so my job is to keep everybody at Bay while these guys were getting there because I was closer to the to getting on I believe and so I see all these like podcasters and they’re all in this waiting room and this guy’s like controlling everything
And everybody’s so serious and they’re all dressed up and they’re wearing glasses and they’re taking notes and they’re so prepared and I’m like I want to put my margarita over here I’m gonna behave and I I totally look like the fool of the group right
And uh and so I I inform the guy that’s controlling it like Hey listen you know there’s been a mixup we’re gonna be a little bit late can you kind of put us at the back of the queue and he’s like you know I can I can do that but it’s
Only G to be this this much amount of time so then I’m texted them like hey this is the amount of time I bought us some time so we all get there we get thrown in everybody’s out of sorts like we’re not ready for anything and uh we
Go through this interview with Mark uh we get off track like we sometimes do and we start talking about us being in the Seminary me getting kicked out Ryan’s trying to keep it all freaking geared up right you know what I mean we’re talking about a movie and but we
Were having genuinely a blast doing it yeah and I think I think at the end of the interview I don’t know if it’s if it was recorded or if it was after the interview but he’s like he’s doing a junk it so he’s inter he’s interviewing one after another after another after
Another and so we’re the ones that came in that were just like hey uh what’s up dude yeah hey What’s Going On We’re GNA talk about a movie and stuff and and we’re bouncing back and forth we’re laughing with him and he goes guys this was the best interview I’ve had today by
Far I really enjoyed this like this is a breath of fresh air I I think that go there’s a concept in eastern Christianity and it goes back to the desert fathers it’s called holy fools right and it’s a real thing right where people will use levity foolishness uh defying society’s
Conventions to mask their piety to mask and to not bring agulation not to bring credit not to bring um you know whatever towards them so that the focus stays on on Christ and in a way that I think we really kind of live up to that that

Kind of content that you guys are creating it’s people aren’t coming to the Catholic Talk Show just because want to learn a fact about something they want to hear an issue be discussed and they want to hear it unpacked in in multiple perspectives which you guys
Which you guys do and I don’t know I feel like there’s a lot more people that appreciate when people are just themselves and real than if everything is absolutely perfect and so manicured all the time see I feel I feel like I totally failed in the Jimmy aen episode
That we shot just a little while ago cuz Keith in that mindset I should have just been real and been like Jimmy I’m about to fall out of my seat I just drank some Tylenol PM and I don’t know I thought it was I thought it was daytime you know

Somebody hates you right yeah well that’s true um and and honestly I like you know you were saying how like the comments and how You’ like get really kind of affected by those I would read them like this is great well you loved them and you’re like inventory cataloging them

Beginning but this was like const con volume coming this you know like this liberal priest that they’ve said every other type of word you know against me and it’s like we’re not going into that story and uh but you know like that’s the that’s the thing like now I can I
Can absolutely read comments and I could take constructive criticism I could take just off- based criticism and it’s not like affecting me in the same way and that maturing process is definitely something I’ve learned yeah I I don’t mind them I think they’re funny oh you
Do you love it you kind of get into it you like chatting with all these all he tells people yeah good luck getting to Heaven Gates of Heaven and and well so here so when people always come in like you’re a bunch of Mary worshippers so
You can feel free to use this line too like sure you guys are a bunch of Mary worshippers and she was just a normal woman and she had lots of sex and lots of kids I’m like okay and this is the comment I leave I’m like good luck

From the Protestants they’re the ones from the other from other Catholics you know like I’m I’m motivated oftentimes by trying to like live up to other what other people think you know or like I don’t want to disappoint people so if someone’s like oh you know you’re trying
To live a holy life or whatever and when when I’ll have like other Catholics come on and and point out something I said that was wrong WR or just you know generally be mean about things that that I’ve had to I mean I’m I’m fine with it
Now I don’t even really worry about it anymore but like that was the hard as a new Catholic when I was putting myself out there on the internet and then you know as a new Catholic and then I would have other Catholics that would that would criticize me or or attack my
Motives or or just whatever like that that was hard you know I mean do you guys find that you get more negative feedback from other C Catholics or from Protestants both Catholics Catholics yeah I think I think it’s both but I think the the dominant criticism we’ve
Talked about this on on shows too is uh within you know like and it’s like we could defeat within more effectively than outside y you know the the good movements that that we get off the ground and and we’ve talked about the internet and the phenomenon of the
Internet um how it just kind of Aggregates sentiment right and and you know whereas before you know you’d have a couple people that you know they didn’t really have a good home life they’re dad didn’t pay a lot of attention to them they would carry that
Into school and they would act out in different ways but it was never to a group of people or in front of thousands of people it was always just relegated to the physical space that they’re in well I mean that does carry over even even with very smart individuals it’s
The motives the motives can never be understood fully by somebody who’s watching on the other side in that Veil uh to to to come at somebody’s motive like that or even to correct somebody should always be done in charity if somebody’s going at you for you know not
Being right about something which you know I mean we’re all not right about things our whole life no that happens all the time to us it does but but like what but what I’m saying is like these are these are these are sick people like
They they feel the need to take time in their life to do that I don’t mean that because we’ve been corrected generously charitably yeah and we have charitably responded to those people right I and thank you yeah B Casey is a perfect good to know yes just from yesterday exactly
That was a very charitable comment and and and and that is that is the type of correction that brothers and sisters that aren’t wounded right that that don’t have these uh these gaping wounds in their heart that they need to inflict harm on somebody else right people hurt
People yes yeah but I mean and we we got to pray for these people and you know God help them the internet does not make it a healthy uh a healthy path to Healing you know for a lot of people it’s unfortunate yeah yeah it’s true
