And it was a very healthy and again we we work closely to see how we can work together string the party and win the 2008 election and it was all over the place contributing his quter when we won the election in 2008 2009 because if you recollect we have to
Go to time to settle scores there and uh it became the chief wh the then leadership of the party took a decision that some of the experienced hands in the house should not go into the executive arm of government I was in Parliament for many years with him we
Work closely uh together and um he held various positions um including what general referred to as the three wise men unfortunately the media took it in a different way and misrepresented what the purpose of that uh appointment was but Minister for Youth and sports by President Jerry John Rollins e Min held
Position through boths in rollins’ regime one important incident I would like to relate to was when we won in 1992 and all of us kers and the youth were rooting for et to become the minister for Youth and sports so we said any other person that will be brought we won’t
Accept then we heard the announcement on radio Minister for Youth and sports Mr Enoch T Mena then hell broke loose all kid met chanting Revolutionary song charging on Justice’s office he say why what we the youth and K of this party we said that it is our man who is this in
So so it we don’t want any entertainment you must put it there otherwise we we we we disagree then just looked at us and laugh say what is the full full meaning of none of us knew then he said it is your man and has beened you see that that tells you how
He was held in high esteem among the youth among the K and all that so we all go one day so we can only thank God that um he’s been taken away after he has established his records within the party and when I resigned from office he was the one as
Minister of Education he came and took over from me and I remember the words of advice he gave me and his sorrow and his Assurance to me that well you would never let go of my hand because we are passers in this exercise in politics and we bring the brother and Sisterhood of
The Gan I remember the words up to [Applause] today and there were much more deeper expressions of friendship and Brotherhood arising out of certain circum political circumstances at that time which endeared him to allery myself and our inner family and may so rest in peace we already know that um the fireing pass
Has started at the State House is the forus of the state house where we’re having the event and itself Judith Brown is already there and in due time we’ll go live and get some feed from that event but um he did a human’s job serving Ghana and look you you mentioned
That he was Sports Minister was 1993 to to 2000 and was very instrumental also visiting I remember the starlets the satellites as well when they went for those youth tournaments and he became synonymous to sports Administration uh as well so apart from what saraha and many others had done
Prior to his time he was also very instrumental in making sure and um uh he he he kept in touch with greater C I have to say uh and because he did those marvelous interactions his name became a household one especially having Ser for had a longing um okay I’ll say a short
Standing battle with the car member of parli his predecessor Sam George who were told at the time was his Aid at the time so but he he his he had been a gentleman of class you could you could see you could you could see and tell
From the way he behaved that he was one of those uh men who would always he had some fine finesse to him everything neat I remember as a parliamentary as a parliamentary correspondent I went to his office to interview him the books the books that were well laid you arranged in the Shelf
In the table prim and proper gentleman he he was he was that everything yeah yeah so this is the body laid in state currently and uh the file pass as we know has started so we’ll bring you those uh live Feats and Judith Brown is there to Kickstart our coverage of this
And um also um we’ll get to speak to some dignitaries present and past of not only the NDC but of States I am sure been very much related to him I mean he was a Statesman before because he was appointed uh by the president on onto the Council of States yes and welld
Deservedly so because he’s um he he’s somebody who has served the states as a leading politician leading Minister Etc and then also now appointed to the Council of states and and so it put on matters as into perspect as somebody who who who was holistic in his contribution
To National life and that’s why we we are celebrating him right here on TV3 new day um so um well may so rest in peace yes yes and our thoughts and prayers are also going out to the family of the late at mentor and just like um
General mosquito as we all call him was cracking a joke this morning for the most part he wasn’t even recognized as in men they didn’t even know exactly they didn’t even know who by the real men was a Musician musician um um what what’s the song um oh a song for you all
For you yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah so they they didn’t even want to recognize time of Independence also yeah as in men I mean he became it men it men but all the same person en men all the same person so I heart and thoughts and
Prayers out with the family um this morning as we talking about it we know that you’re having um your Fondest Memories of him as well not to bring you pain or anything but yes he was a good Statesman that must be celebrated this morning and that’s what we’re doing here
On TV3 new day so if we are to go over some of his credential credentials I’ll just read over some of them pick pockets of it um here and there now says here that throughout his political career ET Mena held various positions of influence he served as the minority Chief whip in
Parliament before the 2008 ghanian parliamentary elections and later became the majority Chief whip in January 2009 when Parliament was constituted now in addition to his parliamentary roles ET Mena also served as the minister for Youth and sports during the presidency of Jerry John Rollins he held that position for both
Terms of rollin’s government now in January 2010 he was appointed Minister for employment and social welfare in a cabinet reshuffle by President John ATA Mills now it Mena’s dedication to Public Service extended Beyond National boundaries he was a member of the pan-african parliament until January 2009 when he resigned after being
Appointed a minister of state now in recognition of his expertise and experience it Mena was unanimously elected as the representative of the Council of State for the greater ACA region on February 12 2021 so he did a he did a lot he did a lot for this country and for that we
Celebrate 8 Mena this morning and I also hinted earlier that he played a very instrumental role in gfa’s acquisition of the ghaman soccer center of excellence at PR pram the ghaman soccer center of excellence at PR pram and for some of these things he would forever be
Remed maybe we activate the phone lines if you have any experiences any thoughts about ET Mena if you’ve ever experienced him in your life as well I’m sure that you can share all those experiences with us your Fondest Memories of ET Mena I’m sure a lot of people never even got to
Know him personally but followed him and his Works in Parliament in ningo pram pram as well and even on TV we can give you the opportunity to speak to us this morning and let us know what you think or make of his tenure as a Statesman
Before his demise last year but but to be truthful um he opened up um the ningo pr PR area you know to to be an extension of not only arra but also TMA because it’s very close to T and then also to to um Adam and all that yeah so very
Instrumental there’s a caller on the line aiz welcome to TV3 new day where are you calling from aiz yes this is aiz I’m calling from great talk to us thank you very much first of all I extend my greetings to W East and CH Bonas Regal chairman but then
Remembering ET me this is a figure that we are talking about today uh he has contributed his quter to Ghana and then the only thing we can see is to pray for him if you look at his positions that he has held is tremendous Youth and sports that’s where
My interest is during his time you could realize that football activities were at it PE from 97 being an MP he has done his part especially at M prr were reading through his background he has mented a lot of people including our one of my mentor that’s Sam
George so I think he has done his part the only thing we pray for him is uh may the good Lord Contin to rest his soul amen the NC fraternity John the incoming president and then the party is we wish them well they shouldn’t be broken too much the
Good will see us through amen thank you very much amen aiz we appreciate your time this morning have a blessed weekend as well now our colleague Judith Brown is on grounds at the four Court of the state house with a live proceed procedence of ET men’s final burial
Funeral right but I think we’re trying to establish reestablish contact with Judith Brown so in the meantime you can call us just like Aziz did and share your experiences or um your thoughts with us are we ready for Judith can funeral or the burial service for Enoch
Mena is currently underway right here at the state house we know who Enoch Mena uh T is he has served in various Ministries in terms of government and that includes the Ministry of Education Youth and sports and many more of course we know that he is the longest seven
Member of Parliament right here in Ghana in terms of um the ningo prr constituency he served from 1997 uh before he was taken over by Sam Nat George in 2017 of course yes as I said has been the longest serving member at of parliament at the ningo prr constituency
He’s done a lot in terms of governance of course and of course taking care of his constituency members and so he would be remembered uh for a very long time in terms of what he has done and the types of developments that he has brought to his constituency members and So
Currently the pre-burial service is on going uh we know that uh the political parties are not yet in in terms of those who are coming for this funeral but we are told that the president n Dana U would be here at around 8 at45 a.m. but
We can see that uh KLA duur has currently arrived here at the pre-burial service and a funeral of um the late ET mena you can see him walking majestically he is going to greet the family members right there on the stage that is
Kat duur uh we know he is a uh stward in terms of the uh new uh National Democratic Congress uh he’s done a lot he was also uh rooting it to get the flag bearers of the party until he dropped uh that earlier and so he’s walking to sit
On his seat he is come for the burial of e men so we expecting many more swards and big wigs in terms of the national Democratic Congress here at the party because I mean at the funeral because of course it men was a member of the NDC the national Democratic Congress for now
We can see the family members right there on the stage um that is his immediate family and then we can also see that more family members are seated under the tents there’s also tents for security Chiefs for the political parties uh for the congregation his church members as well and you can also
See that the Chiefs are very well represented in their Royal regalia they’re sitting right there earlier this morning most of the Chiefs had arrived and you could see them dancing to the tune of their their drums their talking drums they were playing that early so the Chiefs are also here represented
Very well at the funeral of ET Mena yes this is the pre-burial service the funeral itself would start proper as about 8:45 when President n Dan kuf is expected to come you can see the police is also heavily represented the security members here are also heavily represented there’s a lot of security
Right here as the funeral service the clergy of course is also heavily represented if you look to my right right there on the stage you could see the clergy very well represented we’re hoping to see more of them come later in the day but of course the pre baral
Service is currently ongoing for the late uh Enoch 10 Mena as I said he’s been a longest serving Member of Parliament in terms of the ningo pram pram constituency and yes the choir is currently given some beautiful uh Tunes uh to commemorate his existence on Earth
He’s done so much in terms of uh his constituency members his casket was open uh not long ago at around 7 a.m. this morning and filing pass has already begun for uh the family basically because they are the ones who are here currently in terms of people that are
Related to him so the family has been filing pass for a while now they’re going to continue filing pass currently here at the state house um we’ve seen uh that the we told that tributes would be read quite shortly and so we’re expecting that we’re told that
Anyone who wants to read a tribute to commemorate the life and the service of ET Mena can’t do that uh asset now and so we’re going to be hearing people reading out their tributes and talking about who the man ET Mena really was in terms of his
Biography he was born at a CRA in Gold Coast West Africa his Early Education took place at the government School in Acra and later at a high school at the age of 12 he learned to play the flute and it seems that the flute was one of
His biggest Hobbies yes and he was a leader of the Acra Orchestra at the time he was a teacher um you could see that he his musical career was given an opportunity when he was able to finance his own musical Ventures by opening a pharmacy he was the elder brother of yat
Mena who was a leader of a dance Orchestra as well so you can see that music was a big part of um ET Mena’s life in terms of his biography and so you don’t only attach his political career to him but he was a love of music
That’s what we have been told right here this is the funeral of the late Ino Mentor he is going home today and many are coming to bid their farewell to him and of course that includes the family of ET Mena the political party that is the national Democratic Congress they
Are going to be heavily represented you can see them trooping into um the funeral grounds right here at the state house already we’re expecting more political leaders as time goes on but of course his church members are also here and we can see the the choir given some harmonious tunes
Right here at the funeral service we’re going to be expecting as I said uh some tributes to be read later today in fact right now as the pre burial service is going on and as I said earlier as well um President Dan kuf would be expected at around uh
8:45 uh a.m. this morning that will be the president Nana Dango KU arriving here we’re hoping that he would be here on time but of course this is as I said the funeral and burial of the late Enoch tment he’s been a Colossus in terms of
Politics right here in Ghana we can hear that the Bethany uh Church is currently about to give their tribute so basically that’s what’s happening right here at the burial or the funeral service of the late Enoch T Mena it’s quite a solemn mood here you can see everyone is very
Sad juding from the type of person that ET Mena was of course it’s going to bring tears down the eyes of many the family is in a very solemn mood right here which is expected of course and we’re hoping to hear more about him as people read their tributes you can see
The Bethany uh choir or their church is currently reading their um tribute to him saying a lot of things about him and who he was basically So currently as I said that’s what’s happening here at the state house as uh the late Enoch ter goes home in6 all right so that’s our colleague
Judith Brown reporting live from the for court of the state house where the final funeral right of the late honorable Ino Mena ET Mena as he was popularly called is it’s always appropriate to call him more like I’m like again a point of correction uh he was not appointed by
The president onto the Council of State he was elected representing the greata region um kofu J thank you uh Steven Pang and all those sending me tons of messages um even giving me Flyers they’ve given me Flyers of the correct what you said tell you give me fers the campaign fers
To and so uh but it also shows that we’re watched widely and so the content and then what we say should be accurate and also it also shows that the feedback is adequately received again e men was elected to represent the greater ARA region onto the Council of States yes
Elected unan unanimously unanimously elected as um the representative with the poster self cry where they kill me one post he send you post yeah don’t make any mistakes here I see anyway right good stuff good stuff we appreciate all of you who watch us um in the mornings and especially send us

Players who went to win a cup in 1993 as the sports Minister and since then he he became synonymous to the growth of football especially from 1993 to the year 2000 in Ghana very very instructive very instructive very you know sometime when you do go people recognize exactly he’s
He’s I think he’s affected the lives of many people in in such positive ways and we can attest to all the messages and everything coming in this morning we are also trying to establish contact with um um yes and once we do we’ll put him through and we’ll get to have a
Conversation with him as well but for now I guess we’ll take another call good morning um your name and where you’re calling us from that’s upper east oh you’re calling from upper east as well yes please okay and the name is my name is Philip Philip all right philli let’s hear
You okay first of all let me wish this people a happy New Year that Is sorry with I am sorry I cannot speak you need to teach me this year I would have to make it one of the assignments for this year I am so sorry I can’t speak anything now I used to but I can’t speak so please forgive me but let’s let’s
Let’s make an assignment to learn okay so I want to wish uh the following people a happy New Year that is our able chairman General mosito okay honorable our MP h b b Baba and then all the NBC supporters okay the first time I got to know honorable was they have a visit
Father somewhere 1990s and uh the first time I saw him I was happy and then I don’t know you know yes of the NBC b w so later on I followed honorable Don to arra and then I was introduced to him as his the then constituency youth organizer for talented consitency
And so there in actually received me and the way I looked at him he was more caring down to earth and he respect everybody no matter your ReliOn your where you are coming from and the rest so I really Ser then especially when he contested
With my good friend s George and lost I saw that he didn’t take it as uh something that or he didn’t take it as something that was like he he has been disappointed with his cons and would do anything to them or with some so I want to at least tell every
Politician that there’s time for everything if God gives you uh success this time around know very well that another you w get it like that okay and so I am appealing to my colleague com to emate what finally I am I have the biggest hope that the death of it has given the
NDC another opportunity to reconcile across the country and hopefully this year after 7th December I think his Excellency John M will be thinking of who to appoint as a minister as a DC and the rest of the Poli thank you very much thank you too so much Phillip thank you very much for
Your we’ll also call Robert colan you know he’s also greatly related to the greata region and involved in sports sports of course executive for Wembley Sports construction uh but we’ll have some key uh instrumental people leaders and past leaders of the NDC in the NDC leadership
To be here with us but we’ll call Robert kman and then also we’ll call um Sali Ambassador s Sali as well and and and um we’ll have many other related people as well but when it comes to him and it also me means that we have to make sure
That uh we put all matters into the right context because he worked with many uh related people alaj hudu Yaya for example was General Secretary one time as well and then subsequently U contest for the chairmanship and and and then and did many other related Works um for the
Government and then also the party as well work closely with him so we have all of them right here in the studio to have a great conversation but when we come back we’ll call Robert kman who greatly in sports related to um e men even before his demise Etc and then um
We mention I mentioned about Alaya also who is already in the studio of course we’re taking a break we’ll right Back yeah
