My heart is still shaking from all of this. Uh I wanna ask you real quick since you’re front and center. What’s your name? Tamara Demao. What was that like for you? You just put on an amazing show right here in our studio.
We appreciate that and I know everyone out of breath, but thank you. Thank you all. Uh let’s bring in Doctor Robert Walker as well. Of course, this is one of the many performances uh that will be happening on Sunday for the Martin Luther King parade here in San Diego downtown.
It’s gonna be incredible. Uh What can we expect on Sunday? Tell us all about it. So on, on Sunday, we um it is the 42nd annual Doctor Martin Luther King parade, but we’ve expanded it to include a five K. The five K right now has about 400 to 450 runners starts at 930
The um five K and the parade will end at Rocco Park where we’re having a health festival. Our theme this year is a healthy community that thrives together. And doctor Walker, I know that’s very important to you. Obviously, you work in the medical field. Um And to have this for the first time.
A five K and a health festival, tell us why you wanted to make sure to do that this year. I believe that in a, in America, we still have issues with health care and access to health care and whether it’s physical um health or mental health, there’s still a lot of inequalities.
And Martin Luther King was a champion for equality, liberty and freedom, but also in the health care arena and the and health care is a right and many people still don’t have access to care. So we’re bringing um attention to that issue by having a five K run where people are living healthy.
But at the health festival, we have um Rady Children Hospital, we have Livewe San Diego, we of people who’s gonna assess you for mental health. Um And all these different people will give you alternative health um how to live a healthy lifestyle.
So, health is really important to us and have access to health. So we’re excited about the parade. We’re excited about the five K. We’re excited about the health fest. So join us on January 14th on that Sunday and realize that you can be a change.
I believe that Martin Luther King was an ordinary person with the love of light of Christ and him, believe he can make a difference. We can make a difference. You can make a difference. Come out to the parade. Join us, be a volunteer, be a donor.
We thank you for our sponsors, The Count of San Diego, the Port of San Diego, Sony, the Black firefighters and all these collaborators have helped us to put it on for these 42 years. We’re excited about it. Please join us on Sunday. It’s gonna be a great all everyone there.
