Glenn Thomas fits in the category for that um for Nebraska or for Coach rule excuse me like you said he coached there several times Matt roues had three offens of coordinators um so far in his run in college um and now he’s got two of them on staff the other one actually
Is Jeff Nixon who is at Syracuse which is interesting enough but um you know his other offensive coordinators have been Glen Tom Thomas who co-offensive coordinated uh you know those Baylor and Temple teams like you were saying um with Jeff Nixon and then saterfield who he’s got on board so uh it’s it’s
Interesting it it would be a little bit of an interesting Dynamic there I think in the future if the offense continues just to struggle and hopefully it won’t obviously you’re getting a complete makeover um from what the offense was last year um but the fact that there is another guy who’s got coordinating
Experience in the room play calling you know so that sort of thing is something to monitor a little bit but overall it’s a it’s another helpful hand from the past a guy that you know and a guy that you can work with and and like you said he’s got experience this isn’t like
You’re doing the guy a favor he’s been a quarterback coach with the Falcons with temple with Baylor with UNLV with Arizona State he he’s an industry guy he’s been you know he’s he’s a quarterback coach so um I think it’s good it’s frees up Marcus saterfield to

Necessarily play don’t mean you’re a good you can’t turn into a good coach the guys that come in from this perspective as from a student assistant perspective they’re more on the X’s and O’s and the intricacies of of football right um not to say that they can’t grow
Into that now you get a resume like this Texas Tech Midwestern State Atlanta Falcons Temple Baylor UNLV back to the pros Arizona State Pittsburgh Steelers come on you can’t that means you’ve been coaching a lot of football you know how many different players he had to coach
In between this time so I’m quite sure he’s watch He’s Got What I Call coaches film eyes us coaches can see things on film that a lot of people can’t see and so I I I think this is a great hire for the University of Nebraska for our
Quarterbacks being that we are we want to become a university that can take pride in our quarterback again we haven’t seen that in a while right and so um the consistency in the quarterback play is all gon all gonna hinge on who’s the coach
Period so I I like the hire I think I we’ll see we’ll see if it works I mean like I said before a head coach is going to hire the guys he trusts guys who who who who can keep a secret let me say that one more time a

Association so that’s like getting into a fraternity that’s coaching is all the fraternity man it’s about who you know it’s not always what you know it’s not always the guy who had the best record gets the job sometimes it’s the guy who’s in the position and the guy we think that we
Can get along with better that’s who we want or he can lead our program better it it it it just depends on what you’re looking at and what you’re looking for and I like what we’re doing I like the fact that we went out and uh we got the
Two we got two Top Flight quarterbacks in the same class and if we can you you you mean to tell me you go get two Top Flight quarterbacks in the same class and then you tell who to go coaching there ain’t who on the staff other than who they went and got could
Coach the quarterbacks think coach Ru can coach them well I would imagine if coach Ru felt like that he could really coach them and get them to their most optimal spot he would have done that but all all great coaches know their limitations baby you know you I’m
Going to get a superstar to coach that that position for me I’m not gonna try to yeah can I can I fimble blank blank blank my way around with it yes but will I be super successful doing that probably not so go get a guy who I know is successful at coaching
Quarterbacks helping with the the coordination of the the offense great hire one two I think it’s it’s a guy that you can that you’ve again had that experience with that Baylor um and you’re trying to do something SI you know similar here so Nebraska didn’t start in the hole that Baylor did
Obviously and and um so they have something to kind of build off where Baylor had that what one win or whatever it was and the coach rule his first season there um but uh Glenn Thomas was right there along with him so he knows that he he can go through the grind he
Can you know uh go through you know the Waters of of disappointing uh performances all the way to Big Time bull performances so you talk about that room that he’s inheriting he he he trust in him because he’s seen it before he’s he’s had him do it again he was he was
Offensive coordinator at Temple when Temple was at their best so he he kind of was able to to ride satterfield’s coattails a little bit there because by the time he got there there were things were pretty well organized but then had to restarted Baylor and and very much
Was a restart but but let’s keep this in mind before he got to Temple as a quarterback coach in 15 he had been with the Falcons from 08 to 14 who’s the let’s see who the quarterback was for Atlanta Falcons between 2012 and 2014 I think that
That’ll that’ll tell a little bit of a story I’m just say or or between 08 between 08 and 14 I got gotta believe that’s Matty Ice I look back at when he started yeah he’s 08 to 14 so Matt Ryan oh what can you say about Matt Ryan well he
Did win an MVP a few years later I think in 2016 um and uh was pretty successful I mean you look at their their run there and again he was he was just a what was it the offensive assistant or I can’t remember what term he was with the with
The Falcons there but um that’s also just kind of interesting and all together I mean that’s a that’s a number one pick so you’re dealing with a guy that had a lot of upside and I think a guy that that reaches upside yeah but you got to think in 2010
They won the division 2012 they won the division both years they won the division so I don’t I don’t I mean and he went from an assistant offensive assistant from 08 to 11 to the quarterback coach from 12 to 14 so that’s a little bit different well
I can look at like Matt Matt Ryan’s numbers in 2012 the team was 13 and three um and then the next year they were 4 and 12 and the next year 6 and 10 but you look at Matt Ryan’s numbers individually um 32 and 14 in year one 26
And 17 I’m going touchdowns interceptions so 32 and 14 in the first year 26 17 the second year and 2814 the third year okay I yeah I’m just simply saying he’s got a lot of experience and when you get got the quarterbacks that we have now you
Got to put a you got to be put somebody experienced in that room y your football team hinges on the quarterback so coach rule I would believe and suspect um that he knows hey I wouldn’t got the two top quarterbacks one in the state and one in the
Country now I gotta put somebody in the room that can coach him and I don’t have to worry about it when you got that then this a different ball game it’s a different it’s a different story obviously he knows sat very well too but is there any any worry or or
Fear that if you make a move like this you’re hurting his feelings or something no I mean it shouldn’t be hurting his feelings is fired that’s that hurting your feelings is you know what we gonna have to let you go because we don’t think moving forward that you’re the guy that’s gonna
