Think about your ceremony and cocktail hour musicians. Don’t forget to ask your musicians if they’re staying for dinner. Sometimes they can’t, but just like the other vendors, they’re working hard for you on your wedding day. The courtesy of asking is always appreciated. Definitely appreciated.
And let me tell you, a lot of couples don’t realize how much time is put in by those musicians. They think, well, they’re only here an hour, an hour and a half. But the reality is there’s the drive time to the event. There’s the actual setup for the event.
You just don’t take out instruments and start playing. And then, you know, there’s the pack up afterwards and then there’s the drive back. So what seems to be an hour, an hour and a half, maybe more like four hours, maybe even longer sometimes.
People get hungry and it’s not a bad idea to take care of them. Now, another thing is, think about your other vendors too, like a photographer. A photographer spends the most time with you. Absolutely. A lot of people don’t realize a photographer spends 8 to 10 hours with you.
And that’s a very long day and not to feed them. Yeah. Ughh, makes for a grumpy photographer. Ha-ha-ha-ha! I always say that a well fed photographer will shoot anything for you. Exactly, exactly. What a lot of clients forget is that the musicians and the other vendors,
They’re working for you on that particular day and they need to be taken care of just like your other guests. Right? Exactly. And remember they’re human too. Yeah. So don’t, forget about that, don’t treat them like a second class citizen. They’re there for you to make your day great.
And you, hired him for a purpose to make that day great. So hand in hand, brotherhood, let’s, uh, let’s feed each other. Ha-ha-ha-ha! Wedding tip Wednesday is brought to you by. Emerge cosmetics. Are you ready to emerge? Our line of lipsticks, lip glosses, and mascara was created to empower
And become who you truly are. Strong, beautiful, and confident. Use the coupon code SF1 at emergecosmetics.com for an instant 10% off. That’s coupon code SF1 at emergecosmetics.com. Emerge as the true you. Wedding Tip Wednesday for today is change your name. After the honeymoon.
Yes, if you decided to change your name legally, it’s time to do that. Collect all your documents and do it as soon as possible. This takes a lot longer than you might think. Don’t procrastinate on this after wedding task. Alright, let’s be clear right off the bat.
You do not have to change your name if you don’t want to. Some people don’t change their names for different reasons. Some because they’re at a job, the name is popular, and you know, we don’t want to change that. We don’t want to mess with that. Makes all the sense in the world.
Yep. There are easier ways to change your name. There’s from miss to mrs. com. One of Our DJs got married and his wife used that, Yes! That service. And it was awesome. He got, she got this kit in the mail with everything she needed to send out to the
Different agencies to get her name change. All done for her. All done for all typed out. Literally. There was these little stickers that said, sign here. She signed boom, boom in the envelope, put the sticker on there. Gone. It’s a beautiful thing. Yes, it is. Modern technology is a wonderful thing, everyone.
It can be very helpful at times. And in the olden days, going way back to when I got married, it was the thing to do to have your husband’s last name. Now, of course, those traditions, they don’t have to be done.
As you said, if you don’t want to do it, you don’t have to change your name anymore. Just keep it as it is. Don’t jump ahead and change your name before you go on your honeymoon, because you might have problems with your passport and things like that,
That may make it even more complicated. Yeah, again, let’s try to keep this stress free. Exactly. Keep in mind, too, a lot of people don’t realize they’re same sex marriages. Where one might take the other last name on and it’s the same thing. It’s exactly the same thing. There’s no difference. No difference.
No difference whatsoever. So there you go. Try to make it as simple as possible and definitely do it once you get back from your honeymoon. Wedding Tip Wednesday is available on the Stress Free Wedding Planning Facebook group page every Wednesday. Join the group for free. Today’s Wedding Tip Wednesday is Guest Emergency Kit.
Well what am I talking about? Place a basket in each bathroom at your venue with these essential items. Aspirin, allergy medicine, sanitizers, feminine products, deodorant, body spray, hairspray, lint rollers, mints, gum. Don’t let a minor emergency ruin your guest’s enjoyment of your special day.
Let’s think about some other good items that we could add to that basket, Sam. How about safety pins, band aids, shoe polish? Lotion. Yeah. Hair ties. Some nail glue. Break the nail in the middle of the wedding. Blotting paper. A tied pen. How many times has someone spilled something at a wedding?
Good point. Yes. And the reason for this is you’re trying to help your guests out so that if they do have a minor emergency, they don’t have to go home. And if they go home. You know, Sal, they’re not coming back. Absolutely not. Absolutely not.
Now, looking at this list that you just mentioned, Sam, there’s one thing I do want to bring up, that a mistake that happens sometimes with these baskets, and that’s the deodorant. Yeah! Do not use roll on or stick deodorant because if one person uses it, it’s over. Oh, good points.
So, you want the spray. Anti purse sprint also. Good point. If you’re gonna have lip balm, make sure you have multiple. Exactly, exactly. So you can’t reuse ’em, obviously. And where’d you get these products from? Very simple.
You go to Target or you go to CVS or you go to Walgreens or your Walmart. Or the Dollar Store. Or the Dollar Store. And you’re just getting this small, is it sample size or travel size? They’re called both nowadays. Yes. So Ha-ha-ha-ha!,
That’s all you’re really getting because all you’re doing is you’re just giving to your guests something that they can use in an emergency. And sometimes some of these things are not even used. Well, that’s good then because it means you didn’t have an emergency. We’ll be back with why you shouldn’t DIY.
Why is it important to visit your venue after you booked it? And more insider wedding tips, right after this. This is the Stress Free Wedding Planning Podcast with Sal and Sam. Welcome back to our Best of Wedding Tip Wednesdays. Hi, I’m Sam from Atmosphere Productions, weddings with expert knowledge and the difference in quality. Hi, I’m Sal from After Hours Events in New England, the leader in making your wedding stress free. We’ve already discussed why you should feed your wedding musicians,
Why having a guest emergency kit, and when to change your name. Now on to more Insider Tips. Here’s your wedding tip Wednesday. Don’t DIY. I’ll say it again. Don’t DIY. Just don’t believe those wedding articles that suggest you to dispense with your DJ and create a long playlist of great music.
Then, plug it into a charger and a sound system. Just let it play all night. It’s all a recipe for disaster. Let’s think of this. Who will rent, set up, and maintain the sound system during the event? You. Who will make announcements and keep the event moving? Who? You!
Who will coordinate details between the facility photographer and other vendors. Who? You! Who will play your Special songs at the right time Who? You! What if something goes wrong? If you’re stressed now imagine how you’re gonna be on your wedding day. Here’s the reminder hire a professional, please ha-ha-hah-ha!
Please hire a professional. Oh my goodness when you have a professional They’re going to allow you to give some examples of what you would really like for that night. What’s important to you. Now a professional is going to always be honest with you too. I have gotten the list. Wow.
That’s not really a danceable song. And I go over with my couple. Why did you pick those songs? Now sometimes you find out, Oh, my fraternity sisters, we always at a wedding, we go out in the middle of the dance floor. Then it’s a hit. We will do that.
Well, you’re not a DJ. So sometimes you don’t realize. Some songs don’t go together where a DJ is always reading the crowd and changing with the crowd, making it so that we’re keeping people on the dance floor a lot longer by doing what we’re doing.
We play slow songs when they are needed and not overdo it and know when it’s time to change a genre. So a professional is just so important. To get you through that day to have fun and making it stress free
Because they’re the ones, who are going to lead the whole show in a sense of we’re going to be the mc. We’re going to do all the introductions. We’re going to announce all the special events. We’re going to have the music ready for each event.
So this is why you should have a professional. Professional is going to help you every step of the way with the planning, and play the appropriate stuff when it is needed. Wedding Tip Wednesday is brought to you by Emerge Cosmetics. Are you ready to emerge?
Our line of lipsticks, lip glosses and mascara was graded to empower and become who you truly are. Strong, beautiful, and confident. Consider a day of coordinator hiring professional to oversee the day of details can be a game changer. This person can keep track of the vendors, keep everything on schedule and do all the tasks you won’t have time to do while you’re getting ready and having that
Time of your life, whether it’s a day of coordinator or full service, wedding coordinator, get them, get them, get them. Can’t say enough. It’ll save you so much time and so much stress. That’s another tip from Sal and Sam. Wedding Tip Wednesday is available on the Stress Free Wedding Planning
Facebook group page every Wednesday. Join the group for free. Wedding Tip Wednesday, check the venue beforehand. For example, you booked your full wedding reception facility in the middle of winter. Make sure you physically visit it again in the spring. And again, a few months prior to your special day.
It’s amazing, how cosmetic changes can make a difference. Stay on top of these things and you’ll have no surprises. You know, there’s different types of facilities. There’s the single facility, which could only do one wedding at a time. And then there’s the hotels that I could do multiple weddings.
And there’s the, the other facilities that could probably do two. There’s a lot of things to consider when you get a place like this. Yep! As you mentioned about visiting it prior to, and you went in one part
Of the year and then you should go in this other part of the year to see how foliage and how the flowers are growing and how everything’s looking good cause cosmetics is very important. Big, big difference. So now you’re, you’re the paying customer, so make sure, you know,
Everything is just the way you want it. And the only way to do that is to due diligence as usual. Check these things out. Don’t try to make it happen the day of again, let’s not have that stress. Make sure that you understand.
What’s happening if you have a wedding reception in a hotel or a multi room facility, because you may not know what’s happening next door to your ballroom. It may not be a wedding. It may be another type of function. There was a story many years ago that I’d read about.
The couple came to their wedding reception, and it was a naturist convention in the room next door. So, not that people were naked, but they were, they wore very revealing clothes. Now, do you want grandma to walk out of in the hallway and see a half naked
Man in a banana sling or something? No, you don’t want to see that, that type of stuff, so make sure you check the facility. Hey, is there another function happening at the same time as mine or before mine? Make sure that if there’s a, a wedding happening before yours, that it doesn’t
Finish half an hour before yours, because your vendors need to get in there and set up what they have to do. So all these little things will make your wedding stress free. You’re listening to the Sal and Sam on the stress free wedding planning podcast. I’m Ethan.
We’re getting married in June of 2026 and I listen every week for great wedding advice and stress free tips you should listen to. And on today’s Wedding Tip Wednesday, keep a copy of the ceremony. Keep a copy of the ceremony wording on your phone. Send a copy to your best persons.
If the original gets lost or misplaced, or an emergency, like the officiant not showing up, then you have a ceremony script and vows ready to go. Now, isn’t this a fantastic tip? I think you passed this on to us, a little earlier in, one of our editions,
And the reason for it was because? Because the officiant did not make it to the wedding, and now what was able to be done is, they were able to email it to me through their phone, and now I was able to bring it up.
And be able to use it for their actual ceremony. Because you are an Officiant. I am a wedding officiant. Yes. Yeah. Having a separate person worrying about that is better than having the couple worrying about that. So if the best man maid of honor, best woman, whoever.
Has that on their phone, we could go up to them directly and take care of it. So this is a great, great, great tip. Very important. Make sure your best persons have just a simple copy in text format or PDF
Or whatever on their phone or even if you have to print out a copy and give it to somebody, then that way you have this backup plan in place. I’m Andy Cain from buy like a guy, the podcast with the tools guys need
To buy an engagement ring or other diamond jewelry with confidence. And you’re listening to Sal and Sam on the Stress Free Wedding Planning podcast. You can listen online and download from iTunes, Google, Spotify, or wherever you get podcasts. Wedding tip Wednesday for today is buy your wedding shoes in advance. Very important.
Don’t wait until the last minute. Once you have the shoes, you can wear them around the house and see how comfortable they really are. Don’t forget to get a pair that offers comfortable insoles, since you’ll be wearing the same shoes for the entire day. It’s important to keep your feet comfortable.
Yes, you have to be comfortable at your own wedding, of course. Why buy your shoes ahead of time? Well, for a couple of reasons. One, you’re going to need those shoes when you go to buy your dress, because you need to know what length you’re going to need to have it measured to.
Two, it can take a long time to get those shoes. So if you’re buying now for a wedding that’s next year, guess what? You may just get them just in time, okay? So you definitely want to do things early. Comfortable is very important. You want to make sure they are comfortable.
Don’t wear heels that you don’t normally wear. Something to also consider, you may want to change your shoes throughout the evening to something more comfortable. That is important to have those shoes with you, too, when you’re getting measured for your dress.
You gotta remember, those shoes that had a heel are gonna come off, and now you’re gonna go into these flats. Now, are you too low to the ground where this dress is dragging and it shouldn’t be? So this is something that your seamstress can help you out with.
If you want to get a little crazy with it, you don’t even need shoes anymore. You could actually wear bright sneakers and that could be even more comfortable. I had one bride bling her sneakers and she looked really cool. That’s the difference with the traditions.
You don’t have to do all the traditions anymore. The fact is we want you to be comfortable and stress free Wedding Tip wednesday is available on the stress free wedding planning Facebook group page every Wednesday. Join the group for free. So there you have it.
We just shared with you when you should buy your shoes for your wedding, why you should keep a copy of your ceremony script, why you shouldn’t DIY, and why it’s important to have a wedding coordinator. Listen to us every week for your dose of Wedding Tip Wednesday.
