Hello everyone welcome to it Cil I am cibil wils and it is ailet and Yolanda day here on it civil glad to have our mental health and wellness contributor here ailet Russell and Yolanda Starks white who is our our Yogi if you will and uh I think today I I’ve really been
Looking forward to this ailet uh this conversation and especially uh as it relates to the story that you’re going to talk about and that you wrote about in the what you need to know newsletter uh and that is uh bullying at the workplace and uh I think it’s a topic
That uh especially among women that we need to talk about as well as as a minority um and being bullied there too so let’s um let’s get started but ailet how are you what’s what’s the word what’s the haps what’s the going on it’s all good over here this week this week
This week has been good um I know last week we spoke I don’t know if that was last week or the week before last was a week before last because last week you were off uh getting involved in your schooling that is right that is right so
We spoke about um my sleeping and so that has not improved still working on that however this week has been good that makes sense right okay perfect so a win is a win in my book there you go there you go and Yolanda you’ll be with
Us for a little while but as you said you’re off to do your civic duty tonight yes I’m excited that um and in the Taran County area we are uh we have an amazing opportunity uh to count the homeless and this is something that we that everybody in every Community should
Really consider doing because you know we complain about a lot of the things that we don’t have in our communities well we don’t have things in our communities because although they know whoever they are they know that we have the disparities but they don’t have the
Data to actually go along with it and what I have found we’ve done this for years me and one of my girlfriend’s Tracy is it’s not a lot of black folks it is not a lot of black folks that participate in this because it’s just volunteering you don’t get paid that’s a
Friend of mine was saying you don’t get paid no we don’t get paid and what’s interesting Cil is black folks we don’t want those folks in our business right so we don’t really want to talk to them but to see somebody that looks like you and and Tracy uh can help
And and kind of opens up the doors of communication yes yes it is it is so needed so they can get the data to to so city council can have more of a um um um can provide the resources provide the resources that our communities desperately need so if you get a chance
To participate in this I mean it’s just so much stuff you can do it’s just so much stuff that you can do find something to do instead of complaining about Donald Trump and all of this nonsense find something where you can really really get involved and make a
Difference in someone else’s life and even your own lives right right it it it does uh it gives you uh Greater Hope and and also makes you feel better about being an active participant in your neighborhood if you’re new or if you’ve been there a while and you think you
Know something needs to be done this is an opportunity I was reading a story not too long ago um that this I guess this is uh Nationwide uh this time of year people go out and they do this and and and do the counting of the homeless and
I was reading in Los Angeles County they were really looking for people because it is such such an incredible number of homeless people and the the new mayor and bass has been working to to house the homeless right but also trying to get people to come uh who live in Los
Angeles County to come in the city of Los Angeles to come out and to volunteer and get those things and and like you saying you know it really helps when you have people that look like you uh coming out and and and interfacing if you will
With people that look like us and you know what’s interesting Cil what we find what I have found in my own survey for being out I I think that our community and the uh the brown or the the the the Latin Community they are they don’t want
People in their business either but they have a whole lot more volunteers than we do like I see a lot more of the Latin Community out doing this work than I do I just if black folks are is spotted and I’m telling you and I specifically ask
To go into my neighborhood to go where I grew up where I went to high school I went to Elementary and yeah I see people that I know and that I grew up with anyway it’s it’s really something so thank you for allowing me to share that wow that engenders a whole
Another conversation um about the you’re encountering people that you grew up with and what that conversation looks like um but we and we will talk about that at another time um April I I do want you to talk about a little bit about the story and and and after you
Talk about the story I will tell you why it means so much to me um but uh ailet is our mental health and wellness contributor and she is uh written this story about uh the suicide of a woman on a college campus and um I’ll tell you so so April let uh in
The what you need to know newsletter this was uh in our mental health and wellness Corner yes um and so I know we’re going to talk deeper in our latest or in our later segments but I’ll just give with Dr John Porter if I may Dr John Porter
As psychiatrist so we can really dive into bullying into in the workplace but um Dr Candia Bailey she was the former vice president of student affairs at Lincoln University Missouri which is a HBCU college and she was actually an alumni as well and so she tragically
Died by Suicide at the age of 49 um from it’s it’s a little touchy it’s it’s definitely um her letters and her emails that were sent out were very heartfelt and it’s a lot to process and um it seems as if her suffering went unnoticed um and it was backed up by
Colleagues and um I’m sorry okay so let’s get into so there was emails sent out by her before she died um accusing the president of Lincoln which is like I said the HBCU um his name is Doc Mosley um of harassment and bullying and she said that she felt unsupported
Disregarded and abused and this went on for months and she even sought accommodations through the um the services let me let me get this right it’s called The Americans and Disabilities Act for her depression and her anxiety so she was struggling mentally and she sought out services and
Um that went dismissed her letters to HR that went dismissed and um tragically she took her own life because of the things that were happening in the workplace um this has uh kind of cascaded throughout the education community and especially uh in this uh in HBCU Community um because here’s a a young
Black woman uh who was a a high ranking position and she was was bullied by the new president of the school who was a white man um of of a historically black college and they’re like well okay what’s the big deal because um we’ve come to the point now
Where we don’t have to we normally assume that those in the the higher ranking positions of of HBCU are going to be black people and um what this story did to me was uh just struck home because my grandfather was once the president of Lincoln University in Jefferson City Missouri and so this
Really hurt me and I thought when I first saw Dr Mosley I was like why would this man why would this black man be you know hanging and why would he be you know bullying this woman and what were the circumstances and then it was a
White man and why I don’t and and it’s not to say that it couldn’t happen between a black man and a black woman but it just just really struck my heart that knowing my grandfather and not as well because my grandfather uh was ill as I was a little girl but but knowing
The kind of man that he was would not allow this kind of behavior to take place at his beloved Lincoln University um those who go to Lincoln um or have been attending Lincoln uh there’s a there’s a dormatory named after my grandfather at scrs Hall and and and
Things like that my mother went there my uncle went there and and um so that’s that’s is in our family and to see this story and to to feel and and to look at this woman who looks like she could be any one of our girlfriends yeah and and
Know that how troubled she was and so we’re going to talk about this and bullying in the in the workplace with Dr Don Porter and um April let um has arranged for this interview and so uh I look forward to having that conversation with her so I thank you for this and for
Um and and kind of put it off because uh April let we had some scheduling things so but she is she’s here with us tonight and we thank her for her time in advance um also wanted to talk about how’s the weather where you are well
We’re all in the same area um but uh I I along with my news Gathering abilities I also am am one to look at the weather and climate change is for Real if you haven’t seen the the news stories in San Diego this week they had enough rain
Three months worth of rain to come down in San Diego in six hours wow three months worth of rain three months worth of Rains Down in six hours cars were piled on top of each other people lost power because of the the uh energy stations and what have you collapsed as a result
Of uh the flooding um and it’s going across the country in in Yanda check on your family in Houston because now they’re under a flood watch and it’s continuing across the country uh 75 people at least at the writing of the story had died as a result of the
Weather and 30 of those people were in Tennessee in the state of Tennessee so climate change you know well how does it affect us in the winter time or you know we know how hot it gets in the summertime but this is where we are are the the amount of rain that’s coming
Down to the West means the amount of snow that’s coming out uh to the East and to the north and uh and in areas like uh Texas and Louisiana in New Orleans and and all the Gulf Coast are all affected by this so and don’t say uh
I saw a story when the when the first cold snap hit and I saw the story and there were some black women walking and and they were kind of bundled up and say we didn’t know like watch the news watch at least if you don’t watch
The news just put the weather app on your phone put on your phone and it’ll it’ll warn you it’s coming you know we’re gonna get zero and we’re you know the temperature is going to drop or the the rains are coming and um and a lot of
People you know just they lost their homes they lost everything but they still as one woman uh said you know we we still have each other and so that’s really important but keep on top of this stuff you know just in terms of being weather aware because the the climate change is real
And it is affecting us each and every day whether it’s summer or winter spring or fall so um that was U I’ll step off of my uh my box right now and and move on I love it um also uh in the uh Health segment I’m talking about budget OIC we
Talked about OIC and how there is a black market for OIC and and to be careful when you’re trying not to pay all the money for OIC the weight loss drug uh is designed for people with diabetes but people are using it who don’t have diabetes uh in order to lose
Weight and now teens are becoming uh involved in in using this product in order to lose weight and and and talk and they encourage you to talk to your teenagers about this dangerous trend of using OIC in order to lose weight and what it means because not only is the
Medicine not uh approved by the FDA but the needles that are used are also Black Market oh you have wait wait wait wait wait the AIC is not approved by the no the ones that are on the black market oh oh okay okay I’m sorry okay no I may
Miss but there are there are um people are trying to get it at a lower price and so they’re making it available uh a a a not up to the FDA standards product available on the black market and so and and people are and it’s it’s dangerous
For people to take this as well as to use the needles well you know I always do the counter Um reports of even from the New England uh uh Journal of Medicine the the simag glutide that is in the o that stuff there’s a place for that in our society because the number one killer of American is obesity right so if we have something that can help us to
No longer be obese which protects our heart and our other organs I’m not mad at this but the danger that is involved in those products that are coming off the black market right the black market but the Black Market that so I I I think in
My opinion that we should be clear that we aren’t necessarily saying that this isn’t good but just black market but all most black market uh substance aren’t good but we want people so the purpose of this Yolanda is to not only uh to be aware of that there are products like if
It’s too good to be true if the price is not uh what the exorbitant price ofic and W GOI and and monjaro are then the the likelihood of them being legitimate products are very small right and so um but we also want to talk to our young
People about you know being able to buy it at the beauty shop or being able to buy it at the barber shop or whatever you know that’s not old man because Viagra is also Black Market too right yeah for sure for sure no that’s very true that’s very I
Don’t know that um I I’ve seen it passed in a barber shop so I did you did you now okay it’s like y man I need a fade you got that stuff we gotta go we we’re we’re behind schedule so a let’s let’s move to our what’s really
Going on segment and uh bring in our guest and ailet if you will do the honors and introduce Our Guest Dr Don and Dr Don I’m sorry if I think you was conv have a tendency to go off the rail sometimes um but Dil will you do the
Honors and introduce Our Guest yes I’m so excited for you to be here this is Dr Don Porter she is a board certified child adolescence and adult psychiatrist she has been her practice for over 30 years she is the founder of family renewed and now an associate professor
At the Southern Illinois University of school of medicine she’s a woman of Faith uh she values her family and she understands the needs of work and life balance and how your mental health can be impacted by your work environment and the things that you do so thanks for joining us I’m
So excited for you to have be here with us today well I just want to thank you for having me um this is in a very important topic especially in light of what recently happened but we know that bullying has been going on forever and
We in this state of a what I like to call a calculated chaos where there’s this misinformation this intentional um effort towards just causing chaos in everything that we’re doing and everything that’s happening in our lives whether it’s the lies or um the challenges or the biases or the
Stereotypes all of these things are really compounding each of us and increasing that level of stress for all of us and so one of the things that we have to recognize is that yes hurt people hurt people and so what’s happening is a lot of people are being
Pushed into a survival mode because they don’t know how to handle all of this stress and we think about trauma and Trauma informed um spaces we have to think about how do we better manage ourselves and our families and our friends in this space um we know that
Depression rates have gone up we know with the p pandemic things have gone out of control we know even with social media you know people have become more disconnected you know you feel like you’re connected because you can see and talk to people but there’s this wall and this barrier because people aren’t
Actually connecting and engaging with each anymore you know you try and you know everybody there’s a shame in that too isn’t there yes it is and there’s been so much lost this this this technology has been a double-edged source you know before when we had to write
Letters or write cards that gave a little bit more feeling of intentional effort that’s being taken to to say something to somebody or going to somebody’s home and really speaking with them and and opening yourself up to them that’s another way but these are the
Things that have lost I know one of the things you mentioned um two weeks ago April at was you feeling like you’ve lost time and the time is just going so fast it’s like you we have lost it and we have to recognize that time is really
One of our most precious Commodities and it really ex it tells people what is important to us and if we are spending all of our time on the phone while our kids are in the back seat um I I I’m to blame for that I can you know attest to
That um we are doing too much and we are not just stopping and slowing down and really building those relationships that are really truly important um I was actually listening to a talk by Dr kichi loin last night and she talked about time she talked about the difference
Between Kronos time which is just time on the you know on the clock you know 30 minutes here hour here versus Cairo time and chyo time is really that intentional time that you’re using those moments those special moments of connection with other people or connecting with yourself and these
Are the things that we really need to be prioritizing in our life because that’s what nourishes our soul nourishes our spirit and helps us make it through for the next day um one of the things let me ask you this um because uh we our time
Is very limited here um and Yolanda will keep us on track but but the one of the Beauties about uh learning about historically black colleges and universities is the connectivity is the engagement of students and faculty and and and students finding their place where they may not have had it before in
In a pwi or something like that so the the thing that really uh broke my heart is that um perhaps this this uh young woman did not have that connectivity or that or whoever she was sharing herself with because as I understood she was telling people that
She was very unhappy um and there were warning signs but what can we do if we see something then we’re supposed to say something what can we do from the outside looking in and one of the things that I think is important again is building those relationships of
Connection because you can go to a person and say you know what you look like you’re upset you look like you might need some help some support but if they don’t really feel like you’re connected with them they not going to hear you to say I will take you to the
Doctor I will take you you know to um to a therapist I will be in this space with you and that’s the kind of thing that we’re missing and that’s one of the things that I really wanted to talk about is that like in my ABCs of family
Resiliency that I created um one of the things that you do Syble you talk a lot about all these special things that you do whether it’s watching Hallmark movies before you go to bed or um hey I’m I’m a Hallmark movie fan too so I’m right with
You but um and we talked like when you had the uh yesterday’s story when they talked about um doing the meditations the a affirmations all these things are key but we have to really make a a a a change in the narrative we’ve got to make a paradigm shift so all these
Little things are fine and these are great and these are part of the process but we also need to be intentional about how how our connections and our relationships are with other people so in my in my um six tenants I talk about anticipating challenges broadening your faith um having that foundation and
Making those connections and believing and understanding and knowing but also building on your resources recognizing we have so many resources within ourselves and within our families and within our friends but because we’re we don’t have the time or you feel like they don’t have the time or you don’t
Reach out you don’t make those intentional connections you know it’s second so that is what an individual I think what Cil was asking and what I’m desperately curious to know regarding this those so not as an individual what can we do in the workplace to help
Someone who is having a hard time what’s our moral obligation and I think that’s a great point so when we talk talk about bullying you know all the things that we have in our systems of um in the Army it’s see something say something um we
Talk to our kids about you know how do you stand up you know um I was I was reading an article by my cousin earlier today apolloo AA and he was talking about um fear and courage equals winning but it’s that balance if you have too
Much fear it paralyzes you and you can’t do anything and if you have courage in abundance you may be callous careless and arrogant or at least come off that way but it’s that joint it’s that um balance of the two that can make the difference and it’s being willing to
Take a risk one of the things that I always ask people what what are the fears what is the issue that you’re scared of for speaking up for somebody or for connecting with somebody you know for many of us it’s your job I mean look at what Trump said last night you know
Um I’ll you know ruin your your your portfolio if you contribute to this is and this is the space that we’re in but we have to look at our own selves and our own Integrity about where do we draw the line and and step up you know one of
The things that um I was reading was from this Essence article it talked about 40% of women black women are leaving the workspace because of that not feeling connected or engaged we’ve got to find ways though how do we you know speak up you know we we had this
Attack on Dei and you know affirmative action is a double-edged sword it gave us a lot of opportunity but then it also made people assume the only reason you got there is because you’re it’s a Dei higher you know we’ve all dealt with that and I’m sure there’s a lot you know
That the impostor syndrome you know feeling like you’re not for me for me for example I’m a very compassionate person or what have you but I don’t want to be involved in anybody else’s stuff I got enough stuff going on in my life I’m serious so in the workplace I am kind I
Am honest I am generous but if your dog have something going on I’m sorry go take care of that I know your mama need to go to the doctor I know you got a flat tire and C so as a manager and that’s why I have always hatte it to be
A manager because you really really got to care about the person’s personal space or life as AO all I want is write the article send out do the marketing all that other stuff so and I’m and I think I am a a compassionate person he really is I’m I’m I’m more straight
Ahead and just want to get the work done kind of person people go to her for this you know soft feeling yeah uh situation and and that’s part of the the idea of finding these connections and these relationships where you can find that support you know
Our systems are failing Us world is find support in the workplace or away from the work well for those of us who are the only one in that space it’s going to be finding that support outside but there are networks that people can do you know there’s you know networks of
You know African-American women that are they are CEOs or African-American finding your your um your team your your tribe right yeah exactly and we’ve got do that but we have to be willing to put ourselves in those spaces taking the time to put ourselves in those spaces and really
Communicating and supporting each other I mean we as women are you know the whole Superwoman complex and feeling like we’re taking care of everybody it’s hard but if we’re sharing the load it won’t be so hard on one person and I know you mentioned that you’re the one
Who reaches out to people and you know I’m kind of that same person too um and it’s you know it’s how do you help other people see the need and it’s these conversations we know that churches African-American sororities and and fraternities all these organizations are spaces where we can start having these
Conversations and really making a difference but we really have to do it conjointly and um intentionally and I think that’s one of the biggest issues um question for you um doctor not to cut you off um with all of that being said how do you navigate the space if you are
Doing those things but you spend eight plus hours at work and you have went from let’s just say pet to threat and you know as black women when we want to uh strive higher higher in our positions we we work with the spirit of Excellence we’re always at service and
If we’re experiencing some type of bullying and harassment and we have reached out to other people we have been very vocal like just with the story that we’re talking about with Dr kenada Bailey she seems that she was very vocal about what she was going through she SE
Um accommodation she talked to friends and family from what I’ve heard the friends you know definitely said that she’s talked about her experiences and so it seems that she was very vocal and this still happened so I guess my question is when we’re in a space where we’re frustrated we have voiced
Everything that is going on I have a good family I have good you know camaraderie with people outside but work is so important that is my resource like how do I navigate a space like that and like I said coming from pet to threat like at this point now people are
Threaten threatened by me and my accomplishments are just whatever that looks like how do you navigate space and especially who a person who’s your higher up who’s again I think a lot of it and and honestly some of the thing that we have to focus and recognize and this isn’t
Going to happen over night as a long term we’ve got to get out and vote we’ve got to make changes we’ve got to get people in office that are going to support Dei um initiatives affirmative action you know looking at because it is a risk to be a whistleblower it is a
Risk to do these different things and you have to decide in a certain space you’re in are you willing to take that risk now or not if so why not what are your priorities I mean I know sometimes um we get this space as black women that
We have to we want to be the best because we feel like we have to prove to somebody that we’re good enough because everybody assumes that we’re not good we’re not what strong you know we’re not capable right but that’s some of the stuff that we are dealing with
Internally that we have to deal with that we have to work through and navigate because you have to decide what really makes you happy what is going to bring you Joy this is your life you have One Life to Live lead to live and you know you can spend it you know fighting
That glass ceiling and you know all all that and be miserable you can decide you know what I’m gonna focus on what’s really important my relationships my friendships my connections yeah um one of the things one of the reason why I stopped watching the the housewives franchise is because
Of bullying on those shows it’s very high school to me and and I had to watch it for my job but now my job doesn’t require because I have made my job description uh and so one of the things that I I absolutely the first thing I
Did was stop watching that because it was it was the bullying it was the name calling it was all of this you know this escalating the drama on these shows that we see and so um we see it in our own lives and so I think it’s incumbent and
And and and perhaps there’s a way for us to do this to stop this in our friendships in our in our in our uh in our sororities in our you know in our in in all of our groupings stop step up and yeah and that’s so true one of the
Things when I’m working with kids or adults or whoever um you have to look at what you’re feeding into your soul when you’re watching some of these shows that are out there they’re designed to pretty much destroy us because it’s and we’re feeding on these things like you said
The the housewives some of these reality shows a lot of them they’re scripted they’re they’re meant to promote drama and chaos and we’re feeding and then the music industry is another area where and if we take a stand as a community that we’re not going to listen to this music
We’re not gonna watch these shows we’re not but that beat is something but hear you but you know what you know and we’ll listen to the beat and we’re like well I’m not really listening to the but it still comes into our psyche we gota figure out ways to change
That um industry so that the music is not being just this you know I I was watching this um several years or sever about a year or so ago and they were talking about how it’s only really in the on the black radio stations where they play this music this intentional
And they don’t play it where you know in in Co in white audiences or whatever that you don’t see a lot of the the music that has to do with um you know violence and and inappropriate language and you know how they’re treating each other and talking about each other you
Don’t see that and people aren’t allowed to do that on certain radio stations because they don’t want that narrative affecting other people it’s really targeted towards us and so until we can move our money away from these spaces and I understand you know when we talk
About hip hop and it brought all this new opportunity and energy and you know but it has come a long way from where it was when it first started 50 years ago to where it is now and you know our time is not our friend here um but I
Do want to close out and I want you to give uh people an opportunity to how to follow you and uh and also to offer you the opportunity to come back and talk about this again I appreciate that well as you said my name is um Dr Dawn
Importer I have um my my website is www.family renew.com I actually have a YouTube channel and there’s been some episodes that have um for about six months or so episodes of just different strategies that people can use that really focuses on the thriving not just surviving programs that I’ve created um
As well as the um ABC’s of family resiliency and some of the workshops that I do and the Retreats that I do to really try and strengthen our families strengthening our connections our relationships and really learning how do we have healthy lives basically right this has been a great beginning thank
You so much Dr and I I really do appreciate uh April let uh you’re reaching out to Dr Porter and and you’re coming on and G giving us your time your very valuable time and I really do hope that we will be able to have you come
Back and talk about this again thank you thank you so much um and and uh April good job thank you I appreciate it Yolanda go go be Valiant be the great volunteer you are blessings to you and be happy there you go there you go oh
It’s just me and you yeah is that okay I’m not a bully I know it’s okay I know you’re not a bully uhuh it hasn’t been being you for a while honestly it’s been a minute it’s been minute been a minute so all right let’s do this thing for the
Last okay okay so here’s what’s going on in trending uh news Donald Trump uh you know he has won the uh the caucus and the primary the first caucus and the first primary of the season and so he’s really on a high but at the same time he
Has these court cases that are going on and one that is currently in play is uh the defamation Case by a woman that he has already been found guilty of sexually assaulting egene Carroll and the defamation part of it is she was awarded $5 million but she’s asking for
More money because he continues to defame her as well as his fans and his uh supporters are you know threatening her life and so uh he is back on the stand testifying and it took all of three minutes that he was allowed in this case against him in federal court
Today the judge limited him to answering a handful of preapproved questions struck much of the former president’s answers from the record so he would say something and and this is this is a great move on the part of his attorneys because you ask a question knowing that
The qu the answer is going to be struck from the record but it’s already in the the minds of the jury right oh wow so that’s what they did um the judge warned him and his lawyers that he cannot dispute the verdict in another trial that found him liable for sexually
Assaulting uh Carol in the mid1 1990s and then defaming her when he was in the white house and he tries to say you know as the president I have immunity from all of this and when the defense lawyer asked if he had denied Carol’s allegations in order to defend himself
He said I consider it a false accusation well you may consider it a false accusation but the jury has found otherwise you have been you know found guilty of this and so as if he ever instructed anyone to hurt her he said no I just wanted to defend myself my family
And frankly the presidency the presidency doesn’t have a darn thing to do with this it’s about your pride and your sicking your people on her her life she felt threatened you know people were threatening her life just the same way that um they were doing the two black
Election workers in Georgia their lives were threatened by so did he found guilty of as well um no um that is uh the case with the former mayor of New York he was found guilty of that and he has to pay H tens of millions of dollars
Uh for that but Donald Trump in this case EEG Carol wants 10 million and the jury will now decide probably starting tomorrow she should get she should get all 10 well and and they’re not limited by that 10 so they may even go higher than that so I do have a question really
Quick because you know politics is not my thing but is he running against did didn’t somebody drop out the race like one of the Republicans so it’s just several several several people it was a a group of Republicans who were running uh starting with uh the former Governor
Of Arkansas ASA Hutchinson uh the former Governor of New Jersey Chris Christie uh the former governor of South Carolina is still in the race that is she was also the former un Ambassador uh ambassador from the US to the United Nations and that’s Nikki Haley also uh an
Entrepreneur by the name of vvec ramaswami uh he is out of the race the current governor of Florida Ronda santis he dropped out he was the most recent to drop out of the race and so now it’s just two it’s Donald Trump and Nikki Haley yeah and she has not done well uh
She she lost uh she came in third place place in the uh Iowa caucus Dan santis came in second place so then when it was just the two of them in the New Hampshire primary uh he The Hope on her part and her supporters is hoping she
Would come within uh like not have a double digit loss um so and and it was it was probably about 10 11 points that she lost by um but now he’s starting to threaten her supporters and saying that they will not um that they can’t be a
Part of the MAA party Maga party uh if they continue to support her so there’s the bullying there and so two people have dropped out of of being her support team wow yeah and and he’s really going in on her in hopes that he uh can get her out of
The race by the time if not before certainly after they get to her home state of South Carolina that’s EXA to get everybody out of the race so then now it’s just him and and he doesn’t have to spend as much money and uh he doesn’t really have to go out there and
Campaign and he can get the the um the uh the votes and he’ll get the people uh to support him for the nomination yep wow they go to their convention this summer um and then we’ll get started on the race although President Biden has some people who are running against him
In the Democratic party uh there’s a congressman from Minnesota Robert Kennedy Jr is running as an independent Cornell West Dr Cornell West is running as an independent Maryann Williamson a woman um is running uh and so uh they are tertiary to to all of this I should
Say um they I mean even in even in New Hampshire where the president wasn’t on the ballot they had a right in candidacy and he won that over the people who were on the ballot uh so um that’s a good sign for him um and it was all having to
Do with the the trying SW switching the the uh dates of the um primaries uh normally Iowa and New Hampshire go first the president won the first Democratic uh primary to be in South Carolina and that is a nod to the role of South Carolina play in in re uh invigorating
His campaign in 20 and so and and let black folks know how important they are to him so um all of that just to give you an idea of where we are right now and and and they still have Nevada and Nevada is a crazy State because they
Have a they have a caucus and a primary which makes no sense okay but uh but yeah so they still have that and they still have others to get to before they get to South Carolina the end of February okay all right well thank you for that overview I needed that I feel
Well I don’t know if it’s sometimes I I have a a habit of just running and and no that was good okay okay um so here is a situation when a Minnesota state trooper is charged with three felonies including murder for last year last Summer’s fatal shooting of a black
Motorist a black man by the name of Ricky cob II following a traffic stop on a Minneapolis Interstate hennipen County and hennipen county is the county where George Floyd was killed by the Minneapolis Police so and henpen county is now becoming one of those States uh
One of those counties in that state of Minnesota where cops and black people are yeah yeah so uh the the attorney announced a decision to charge the trooper a white Trooper by the name of Brian lran with second degree unintentional murder first degree assault and second degree manslaughter
In the shooting death of Mr cop who was 33 years old he was pulled over around 2:00 a.m. on uh July 31st on Interstate 94 in North Minneapolis for driving without tail lights during the stop the Troopers attempted to remove him from the vehicle after learning he had been accused of
Violating a domestic order of protection outside of that County uh the charges against the the 27y old state trooper with less two years of experience come more than four months after the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal apprehension handed over its investigation to the the state attorney there and mor Ari the the the attorney
For the state of for the uh hennipen County said that the Troopers engage with drivers every day during traffic stops and receive extensive training on how to do so safely and effectively and she charges that he did not do this I was like well he failed at that right
She said he did not follow this training and so um it is incumbent upon them now he’s been charged and so how they go forward with this whether he will plead guilty or you know come to some sort of decision uh a deal in other words but uh
It’ll be interesting to see how this all plays out but another black man killed by uh a police official in the state of Minnesota he was young so the black man was in his 30s police 27 yep yeah um and you’ll remember of course not only George Floyd and that case but
Uh just as that as that trial was going on a white policewoman pulled over a young black man and uh he attempted to flee she pulled out the wrong weapon she was pulling out her taser and ended up pulling her gun and she shot uh
The young man so um it’s not it’s not foreign to uh the land of Prince apparently um there’s been do you uh are you want to take cough medicine when you’re ill no honestly I haven’t taken cough medicine in so long I haven’t either but uh here’s a a recall on tussen robot
Tusen some robotussin honey cough syrup sold Nationwide are being recalled because of microbial contamination what is that according to the announcement the consumer Healthcare company helion is voluntarily recalling eight lots of robotussin Honey CF max day adult and robotussin honey CF max nighttime adult with the expiration dates through 2025 and
2026 uh immuno compromised people who use the products could experience severe or life-threatening Adverse Events meaning they could become seriously ill um such as your cabinets y’all because it is flu season and everything right and now the you know right now I don’t know if you’ve seen the the um ads on on
Television for cough Ser is like honey honey and and and so people yeah yeah so check check that out now and what this could do is because it is uh it’s been compromised it could uh create fungus in the blood or fungal infection according to the company and in healthy individuals life-threatening infections
Are not likely to occur the robotos and honey CF max day and nighttime or cough syrups intended to relieve the symptoms of cold flu hay fever or other respiratory allergies so everybody could be you know having some sort of situation medical situation and they say
To go to um go to the company’s website helion and find out the recall uh with the lots and because it’s numbers and with specific exploration dates I would if I had Rob I’m not keeping it I’m just going to get rid of all of it right right yeah absolutely um Atlanta could
Have its uh newest football head football coach Raheem Morris a former player is uh returning to the familiar sidelines of the Atlanta Falcons uh he is uh the Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator he’s been there for the last three seasons and is being hired as a new head coach for the Atlanta Falcons
Um um prior to joining the Rams he spent the 2020 season with the Falcons as their defensive coordinator and then their interim head coach following the dismissal of Dan Quinn who ended up in Dallas by the way um Morris will get a second chance in Atlanta and that means
That um uh bill bich is still looking for a job he you know he parted ways with New England and so we’ll see what happen where he ends up but that’s uh a lot of people were thinking you know Bel was going to be the first choice of a
Lot of people a lot of teams uh and why why don’t why don’t they want him he is um he’s a strange fellow he he may not be the easiest to get along with he’s 70 years old if I’m not mistaken uh he’s very good at what he does uh when he has
Those around him and uh he doesn’t always work well with others especially so he’s problematic and he needs to with the owners of the team definitely probably but when you got bellich on your side you got you know you’re you’re golden okay and but uh it’s it’s getting to that golden part
And he’s had a kind of a fractious relationship with a lot of people until he finds that quarterback and in this case uh he he found his quarterbacks and and did very well until the quarterbacks got tired of them and they went somewhere else
