Their schedule for 2024 and I saw who Cal and who Stanford who they’re going to be playing and where so let me go over and I’m not going to go over their whole schedule just their conference schedule because that’s what kind of drilled this home at
Least for me pal their ACC schedule at Florida State they host Miami they’re at Pittsburgh host North Carolina State they’re at Wake Forest they host Syracuse Stanford of course and they’re at SMU those last two games are protected annually So Cal is gonna play Stanford and Southern meth Southern Methodist University every
Year pardon me Stanford back-to-back weeks at Syracuse at Clemson then they host Virginia Tech then they’re at Notre Dame name SMU Wake Forest at North Carolina State Post Louisville at Cal not really Road game but at Cal now the ACC is going to have eight conference games so it looks like Notre Dame
Remains out of conference for Stanford and again cal SMU are their protected games just seeing who and where USC’s two oldest rivals have to play going forward that really drove USC’s move to the big conference home I mean USC isn’t playing every game on the East Coast like Cal and
Stanford but that it’s like wow colge football it’s really changed don’t get me wrong um I don’t feel bad for them per se but it’s just weird not having Cal or Stanford every year is the one thing I think I’m going to miss on on USC schedule and probably
I’m going to miss about the Pack 12 I mean I used to love going to the Bay Area every year for the Weekender every year but San Francisco it’s changed a lot over the years and not for the better so the whole you know pep rally downtown and then you know doing
The whole bar hopping scene it’s it’s lost it’s appeal but I still look forward to going to cal every other year uh jumping in line get my top dog and then you know taking that stroll that walk uh up and down Fraternity Row on the way to their Stadium it’s it’s it’s

And eventually they’ll be playing at recers most of USC’s conference games Road games um are to the Midwest so it’s it’s kind of like going to Notre Dame three or four times a year and that’s a little weird too so it’s great that USC does not have any
Backtack weeks um going to Notre Dame so to speak um this season coming up but the road trips are going to be a little bit longer than I’m accustomed to right instead of you know flying up to the barrier Bear area in an hour an hour and
A half or down to Arizona same time frame or taking a two-hour flight to Colorado or Utah now it’s three and a half four hour flights so I guess we’ll see how uh everything kind of shakes out in 2024 it’s going to be the new era that’s for
Sure right uh instead of opening the conference schedule against Stanford which has been kind of the normal in recent times for USC USC is going to open their conference slate against Michigan and their new head coach they do that in Arbor this season so does that mean that after USC plays I’m kind
Of jumping ahead one year after they play Old Miss and Kay Hilton’s Georgia Southern team on back-to-back weeks in 2025 at the coliseum in weeks one and two does that mean the Wolverines open conference play at the Coliseum a week later or you know will there be a by week slipped in
There here’s another or or would you know the big conference make USC open their conference schedule on the road two years in a row oh by the way Michigan State Sparty they come to the coliseum in 2025 as well so you have both Michigan schools scheduled to come to LA in
2025 so here’s the other thing big conference games are usually played during the day most of their kickoffs are why the sun’s still out will that mean there’s going to be more early kickoffs on the west coast when I was a kid growing up um I was always fascinated by the fact that
Those late night shows like you know some of you might be old enough to remember Johnny Carson uh and then David Letterman and if you’re on Saturday we’re talking about Saturday Night Live those shows were always those shows always started an hour earlier than the west or east coast 11 7:30 p.m. start

Show isn’t on anymore but it’s still that way as far as programming is concerned uh so maybe that’s a good thing I I can’t see too many um big conference after dark kickoffs in other words USC versus Penn State at 7:30 pm. at the Coliseum probably isn’t going to happen I don’t
Know maybe the game against the fighting htons gets a late night kickoff by the way I I keep going back to that that’s gonna be such a surreal day when that happens I know I’m asking for the impossible Trojan family but please don’t boo it’s not necessary Klay Hilton did not hire
Himself he did not extend his contracts he did the best he could under the conditions and he did not do well okay but he is the last coach to win a Pack 12 Conference Championship game for USC and a Rose Bowl so let’s give him that you know let’s give him that let’s
Give him a little golf clap when he leads his team out of the tunnel don’t don’t go being a jerk but again to kind of just close this segment I saw Cal and Stanford’s ACC schedule and like wow they literally are going from coast to coast and Stanford really got screwed
At to open their season they’re going back to back weeks Coast to Coast um that kind of really drove it home that yep 12’s dead USC is playing in the big conference they’re playing their Road games in the midwest an occasional East Coast game at Penn State ruter
Maryland and then there are other games at the Coliseum going to be weird but this is the new era of college football get used to it who are the guys that never get mentioned but do a lot for the team behind the scenes they’re the walk onun
They’re the scout team players um guys who you know you have guys who have a scolly but rare you know scholarship but rarely play except on the scout team those guys don’t get mentioned in enough specifically the Walk-Ons um the guys who play on the scout
Team these are the dudes that do more to get the team ready than anything else you know they have to learn two playbooks during the season their own the other teams remember they’re running the other team’s plays to get the offensive defensive defensive sides of the ball ready for that upcoming week’s
Game when it was allowed a lot of the guys who red shirt you know they they’ll play on the scout team you had guys like rayley Brown last year um and usually all of the Freshman Class are on offensive line one of the things I love about doing the

He transferred to USC in the fall of 2023 from calpal he had played at uh I think Pasadena City College before that um I’ve seen him walking around in his uniform going to practice he looks like a dude a guy who could contribute to me he looks bigger than 6
Fo2 but I’m just reading what I’m reading so uh I can tell you this I know he has the attention of the coaching staff at UFC winol Riley is positioned coach Zack Hansen um offensive line coach the entire coaching staff I know this because CJ earned the
Scout player of the week honor last year at USC if you’re earning that honor your your teammates and your coaches recognize you’re doing what’s necessary you’re doing it the right way you’ve got your uh you got your gold labels you got your wings so have you ever heard somebody say he
Comes from good he or she comes from good jeans CJ’s family are all athletes I can go over their entire family tree I’m not going to just both Mom and Dad played division one Hoops mom played at UCLA his mom is a doctor at USC and his dad
Play division one hoops at Washington uh both good players DJ himself he was a ho Bo player to in high school and then he tried football his senior year he played at Brentwood he played defensive end and tight end this is what he said back in
2019 uh he did there was an interview that he did with Eric Simer times this was from 2019 I was so happy I was I almost started crying everyone was screaming and yelling we were down at halftime and we came back it was nothing like I like
I’ve ever done before for was something I have never done I didn’t have words for it it felt special I saw my parents I was so happy oh my gosh it was the most fun I’ve had the fact that he’s still playing and doing it as a walk- on tells you how
Much he loves playing the game of football right in that same LA Times article um that CJ CJ’s dad posted for me um there was this really nice anecdote in there from his high school football coach Jake Ford Jake remembers uh Wood’s first seven on seven passing tournament you said he
Went out for a pass and started you know clapping his hands after running a curl pattern like he would if he wanted to someone to throw him a pass you know in the post area in basketball he needed to be taught from scratch all the fundamentals of football
How to tackle how to run a post pattern how to put on a helmet how to buckle the chin strap how to wear pads he started from the bottom and boy is he getting better and that’s what’s going on now at UFC he’s earned the honor of a scout team player of the
Week remember scout team players Walk-Ons scholarship players they all are required to do the same thing and that’s you know team meals workouts meetings everything you have to be on time for this stuff they just don’t get the same um notoriety so he’s getting better and he’s helping
USC’s team get better in the process by doing all the stuff he’s asked and he’s doing that knowing that the chances of him playing in the game are pretty slim and then most of the time you’re not even you know you’re not playing you don’t even get to make these road trips
Either because you know there’s limits how many players each team has allowed to take on the road so pardon me I have a feeling that he keeps doing this uh for the same reasons he said he was playing football in high school back in 2019 every game every practice every
Team meeting he enjoys it’s so much fun the camarad it’s real the Brotherhood is real a lot of my teammates have been so supportive it’s something that really feels fulfilling so there you go I mean that was the last thing he said in that article U Back In 2019 as a high school
Senior uh the life of that’s the life of a walk- on they do it because they love the game and they love their teammates um you know hopefully the scout player of the week CJ Woods he can get in the game for a few snaps this season right hopefully I hope
