That’s why the Divine Nine comes together to make sure that everyone vote a lot of people gave up their lives to make sure we had that right. So we shouldn’t take it for granted. So uh, we want to make sure I know it’s kind of like rhetoric every time that every election
Year is important, but that’s not real. It’s true. Every year it is important. And of course, Ron Reynolds, you are where you’re at because people vote absolutely, Isaiah. None of us will be here if it wasn’t for our community voting. In fact, it was the Divine Nine that led
The civil Rights movement that led to the creation of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. It was an Alpha man and doctor, Martin Luther King, a Sigma in John Lewis An Omega in, uh, Jesse Jackson and many Kappas and coming together, Delta Sigma gamma Rose acres, really working
Together to get people to vote, to register people and to mobilize people. Biden would not have been elected if it wasn’t for the Divine Nine. And the strolls to the polls that helped energize us, the African American vote. It’s the African American females that are the most demographic voting of any
Group is black women. So black people in particular have saved democracy. And the Divine Nine has been at the forefront of the movement to get people mobilized to go vote. And, Frank, what we need to do now is get young people to vote because they feel disenfranchized like their vote
Doesn’t really make a difference . How do you talk to them? How do you reach them? Well the main way that I try to reach them, I try to explain to them, okay, if you don’t want other folks telling you what to do, you need to get out and vote. So this
Problem, just getting kids to register and vote now, how do we reach them? You can reach them through our churches. We have a lot of young folks who go to church. So that’s why quite a few of the organizations and the churches themselves put on voter registration drives at churches
To get them registered at. So we can understand their opinions in the same way through universities and schools. You’re starting off really almost in the senior level at high school. Get folks to register for and get interested in politics. And Katina and Tracy, both of you, for those who are looking to get
Involved, who should they reach out to? What should they do to start that voting process? If they haven’t been a part of the system? Okay, you want to start so for me and my chapter, um, we all have social action committees. And for my chapter, we we’ve gone out to the
Restaurants, to the different places they know. Mack Houston, Metropolitan alumni chapter, and they can reach out on our, our website. All of our information is there.
