Good morning church family good morning again church family and it’s good to be in the household of the Lord on this Sunday morning are y’all like me just excited to be in God’s place oh I’m on a 10 this morning my mood is a 10 how your mood this morning
A 10 y’all feeling good this morning the psalmist said as the deer pants for the water Brook it says so pants my my soul for you he said my soul thirst for thirst for God said not only thirst for God but thirst for the Living God
Said when shall I come and appear before you oh Lord God I’m here I come to praise you how many of you come to give God some praise some real hallelujah praise on this Sunday morning oh we ought to be excited to be in the household of the Lord
Hallelujah hallelujah but this is the day that the Lord has made we rejoice and be glad in it let us go to the Lord in prayer God our Father we come before you this morning Father we boldly approach your throne of grace God we come with Thanksgiving in our
Hearts father just to say thank you God we look over our life and we see many things that you’ve done for us so God right in this moment we just want to say thank you thank you for reminding us who you are father thank you God for doing the
Things that we couldn’t do for ourselves one you woke us up this morning you breathe new life into US you given us a day to experience things we have yet to see or yet to do but thanks be unto you father for the Breath of Life God thank you for that constant
Care for watching over us as we slept through the Night God you’re that protector that we need oh Father you’re a provider you provided for us when we can provide for ourselves so God we pray right now for everyone under the sound of my voice God that you would just wrap your arms around them hold them close to your bosom
Father as only you can keep them in their time of needs Father God forgive them for their sins cleanse them of all of their unrighteousness father create with them a clean heart God we pray for our seniors right now God you’ve kept them Father we pray that you would just keep on keeping them we pray for our children the things that they have to
Face in this world father where they can’t even go outside without trouble being on every side God we pray for their protection God renew their minds and their hearts so they can be stayed on you even when they face Danger on every side God we pray for them right
Now God we pray for First Baptist we pray for our church family right now father father as we stand together and pray for the Dyson family God we lift up our voices for them right now God you said blessed are those that don’t mourn for they shall be comfor God we pray for comfort right now Comfort God that only you can provide for us here at First Baptist for the Dyson family father we pray for their comfort right now we pray for peace and understanding for them Father for anyone under the sound of my voice that’s mourning right
Now God give them peace give them comfort that only you can God again we just say thank you thank you for your love for you loved us so much that you gave your only begotten son and because of his sacrifice on the cross we may live in

Cancer on last Sunday our very own Minister flowers gave his testimony on his battle with cancer and many of us had no idea of what he and his family was going through so so let’s step up and support this worthy cause this year’s date is for May which is a little

God wants me to be and we’re studying in lesson number five here and it’s about uh growing lesson number five is about growing the Bible tells us that we as Christians should be growing and it says growing in Christ growing in Christ and that we all should be growing two things
I have to offer for three things actually we we have a book for you if you want to join us all you have to do is let me know and we’ll give you a book of so that you can join right in with us and then there’s two handouts I want to

Family family yet very effective very committed Jennifer lost a brother this past week tragically in an auto accident and uh she is still challenged to deal with some health issues uh by of her mother so she’s on the road even now as I spoke with her earlier this morning and prayed with
Her but thanks be unto God G thanks be unto God God is so good so good I I cannot thank Minister Gerald flowers enough for just taking charge on last week of our Sunday morning prayer time thank you thank you g thank you and then and then preaching a mighty word on last
Sunday I’m just glad glad to be here and uh won’t keep you very long hopefully let you go and prepare for the Super Bowl and um to those who invited me thank you thank you thank you those who did not you better repent berth Evans is so good to see you
This morning she’s been dealing with with uh taking care of a daughter uh who is dealing with some serious health issues so we’re just glad to see you and thank God for you praise His name I probably will repeat some stuff that you heard two weeks ago so I can
Catch up and get back into the flow of dealing with Joseph so with that said would you go to Genesis chapter 39 and again if you say well he said that last time it Bears repeating every time you read the word of God it does not change praise His holy name Genesis chapter 39 and uh I’m going to be looking throughout that that chapter again as a point of review as we move forward uh dealing with the life of Joseph Lord preach Lord preach Lord preach this is your servant’s prayer now made in faith in the name of Jesus the Christ we pray
Amen and amen may be seated for those who are sharing virtually again we will be celebrating communion immediately after the word so we want to invite and encourage you to get whatever sacraments you have consecrated to the Lord as we remember the Lord’s Supper momentarily as we began our dialogue our
Discussion a couple of weeks ago about Joseph and the life of Joseph how as a call one as an anointed one as a one who had been given an assignment by God that Joseph’s assignment really aided in the Fulfillment of a promise that God had made to Abraham where he had promised Abraham
That he would make of him a great nation God has a way of bringing about his perfect will that is beyond our comprehension while we are trying to figure it out we bask in frustration yet God is working it out so I want to encourage you on uh this Lord’s day that
When you don’t understand it sometimes you’ve just got to believe it when you can’t feel God when you can’t trace God when you don’t understand God sometimes you’ve just got to walk by faith and not by sight when it seems as if God has made a
Promise and it does not come to fruition within a designated prescribed period of time sometime you just got to say God I trust you here is this young boy the apple of his father’s eye who has received from his dad a coat of many colors which
Signifies that he was going to be the heir a parent which displeased his other brothers and I want to submit to you this morning that for many folk there is no trouble like family trouble I just I I know I know most of you you’re you’re not talking about your
Family you’re talking about the people’s down the street family but for some of us we have had some trouble among our own kin folk for some of us we have experienced much stress much Discord because what happened not to your family but rather to our family now for those of you who
Have come out of perfect families God bless you y’all help the rest of us out but for those of us who got some not so perfect kin folk y’all know what I’m talking about oh praise His holy name let me hold this for man that thing is hot good God from
Z and so and so so the word says if you’re in Genesis chapter 39 I want you to look at a couple of things one importantly is that the Lord was with Joseph he’s in prison now he’s been sold into Egyptian captivity now he has been
Sold to to a guy named potier who was literally the head of the execution Squad but it says the Lord was with Joseph the Lord is with you does not mean that God is going to move you from the situation in which you find yourself somebody a feeling me Joseph is
In prison he is a he’s a slave but the Lord was with him and when we try to figure out God we say God that don’t make sense if you are with him why would you allow him to remain enslaved God if you are with him why would you allow him
To go through one thing after another somebody better better get get it straight this morning and understand that God’s ways are not as our ways we’re trying to use human reasoning to figure out a sovereign div Divine God God why would you do it I don’t know why
He does it like he does it but God’s ways are always the right way and so happy it says the Lord was with Joseph but then it it goes on on to say that that while he was impr prison he became successful the word of that he became a prosperous man and he
Was in the house of his master the Egyptian good God from Zion he became prosperous in the house of a slave owner some of us have have the mistaken belief that we can only Prosper if we are in a certain place oh you ain’t feeling it that you can only
Prosper if you move from where you are to what you have deemed to be a place of prosperity but sometimes a place of prosperity is synonymous with being in a place of slavery I I I know that didn’t get the that three amens Fred understood me but sometime God will allow us to
Prosper while being in what seems to be an unprosperous place okay he’s there in prison God is blessing whatever he does the master or the slave owner sees that God is blessing him and so verse four he found favor with the master and I know I talked
About the last time but favor so much so that he was rewarded with being in a position of authority and it says in verse six of verse 5 from the time that he put him in charge of his household and all that he owned the Lord blessed there there the Lord
Blessed the Lord blessed the folk that we say we don’t want to be blessed let let me just throw this sometime God will bless your enemies because of your presence somebody missed it sometime God will bless the very people who are trying to harm you who have you enslaved because of your
Presence so let me let you in on this if if if and you don’t know how it’s going to shake out G if you don’t want your enemies to be blessed maybe you better not hang around your enemies because some of your blessing just may rub off on them so if you
Tripping to the extent that you you don’t want them to be blessed maybe all right so the Lord blessed blessing was on all that he owned the Egyptian that is in his house and in the field and notice he left everything under Joseph’s Authority but then there seems to always
Be something in the milk in this case it was the boss man’s wife she she sees this young stud and she likes what she sees mm and so it says one translation says she looked longingly at Joseph she looked oh my God what has been brought into this house
Wow she looked at him and it got to the point where she struck up nerve to approach Joseph she says to Joseph come and lie with me because this is not an x-rated series she’s not talking about taking a nap come and lie with me come and sleep with
Me the word says that Joseph said no Joseph said no and then he gives the reason as to why he says no he says look look all my master has he is entrusted to me your husband my boss does not have to worry about anything because he trust me that’s it he trust
Me I would not dare break his trust by laying with you you know nobody in this house occupies the position that I occupy so he poses the question in verse n he said how could I do this immense evil but more than anything else he says how could I sin against
God how how could I do this this this man I know that he is not a Christian but it’s really not about him it’s about me and my relationship with God I I I know I know guys we’re trying to rationalize well you you know I’m I’m
Weak and the Bible does say that the flesh is weak it spirit is willing but flesh is weak and because I haven’t been to the gym lately I don’t have the strength to withstand this powerful Temptation I remind you of the words of the Bible that says that there is no
Temptation that has taken us or come in front of us or presented itself to us none of that happened that is not common it’s it’s not common every Temptation that you and I experience somebody else in life has gone through it I I don’t care how big and bad how
Glorious how attractive it may be somebody else has gone through the Temptation that you are faced with but it goes on to say happy that God will with the Temptation provide or make a way of Escape ah he he will do it now here we have God’s responsibility which is to
Make a way of Escape but on the other hand we must exercise the will to escape it’s one thing with having a way to escape but it’s something else again with employing with demonstrating a will to escape yes there is a way that we
Don’t have to sin it’s a matter of do we have the will y’all y’all ain’t feeling me do we have gee I’m told I I’ve never flowing a plane in my life but I’m told that some of the fighter pilots have on the plane what is called an ejector
Button which says that if ever the plane gets in trouble you don’t have to crash with the plane you can hit Egypt and it will propel you out of the plane and what Joseph does here is that Joseph hits literally Egypt that propelled him out of that
Situation now it does not mean that the landing is going to be a soft Landing but you won’t crash so so oh my God that makes me shout I said it doesn’t mean that that the landing is going to be a soft Landing but you won’t I’m going to try one more in
Again it doesn’t mean that the landing will be solved but you won’t thank you G and burn Joseph hit eject and he runs the word says out of his coat a coat was put on him that got him into trouble coat is taken off of him that will get him into
Trouble Daniel man it’s good to see you son good gracious you bless me boy you bless me so miss pfer literally bring bring bring the coat here I knew that’s a that’s a Sanctified code here I get to use it yeah R rap it around you it’ll
Swallow no Ro it around you yeah it’ll swallow you oh yeah yeah man and so Mrs potier is so intent on seducing this young stud she takes hold of what she can take hold of but he is equally as intent on hitting the eject button literally he is running for his life but
She has the cat and so because she has the coat she starts concocting a story uhhuh you know evil always needs to conco some story how can I cover this thing up my pride says that I’m the lady of the house I don’t want to be rejected but
The pride says I don’t want anybody to know what I have tried to do so she concocts this story and she says that Hey listen everybody come in here let me tell you what has happened this boy who’s not even one of us tried to seduce me see I got his
Coat I see he he she gives a picture that he is taking off the coat he’s getting ready to seduce her so she uses the coat to say that I had to fight him off and here is the coat left as evidence my man my husband my protector
Brought this Hebrew attack his Heritage brought this Hebrew into our home now look what has happened and so when when when Mr potier gets home she retails that thing you know she’s repeated it she got it down pat now she’s told it to the servants now she’s got it down pat she’s rehearsed
That thing and you know you can rehearse a lie so long until you become good at it you can make what is really not believable you can make it believable and so she tells her husband when I HED he ran out of the house part for hearing the story becomes
Furious he does not trust try to investigate his wife’s account of everything he just simply gets mad and what does he do he has him thrown into a prison he’s a slave in the house now he’s a Slave slave in the prison there he is but after he’s thrown into prison in verse
20 put up verse 21 that first thing that says but the Lord we can go home with that now he was in prison he was a slave in Piper’s house he’s removed from Piper’s house and thrown into prison but verse 21 says but the Lord don’t you ever judge the presence
Of the Lord by your situation don’t you ever judge whether God is working or Not by what you are going through just because you are going through something you’ve got to know that all of these things that I’m going through God is using it for my good
Somebody need to need to really just just just wrap yourself in that truth that these things that I’m experiencing this day is for my good I don’t understand it it’s not pleasant but God is working it out right now for my good But the Lord was with him but notice what happens in verse 22 I’m trying to wrap this up the warden put all the prisoners who are in the prison under Joseph’s Authority that that boy just can’t get away from being elevated no matter where he is a’t that
Good to know this morning that no matter where you are God can still Elevate you if you in Piper’s house God can Elevate you if you’re in parer’s jail God can elevate you an enemy no matter what can stop God from elevating you where you are but the
Warden and I’m through with this chapter but the warden verse 23 did not bother anything under Joseph’s Authority maybe maybe you don’t understand the magnitude of that he’s a prisoner in a prison God has elevated him to the point that the warden does not even check to see that he is
Doing what he ought to be doing don’t don’t tell me this morning that God won’t Elevate you right where you are but God fixed it so that Joseph now had an opportunity to remain Godlike or he could have chosen to become bitter rather than becoming better I said he could have
Chosen to become bitter rather than becoming better if you believe that God is working things out in your life for the good then it ought to lead you to become better and not [Applause] bit bitterness says I’m down here in this jail I did absolutely nothing wrong better says I’m in the jail and I’m going to do what’s right B says oh what bad leadership and Warden and partier have been to me better says it’s not about them but it’s about me and The
God Who is in me bitter says I’m giving what I don’t deserve so I’m not going to give my best better says I may be getting what I have not deserved but I’m still going to do my best bitter says I can get mad with the world better says I can
Rejoice in the joy of the Lord bitter says I’m going to hang up my heart and ask the question how can I sing the Lord’s son in a Strange Land better said the god in the land of my fathers is still the God In This Strange Land
And if the Lord made a way for me at home he can make a way for me in this Strange Land good morning first church bitter says I’m mad I’m angry with what they have done to me better said no matter what has been done to me the
Lord still has not only my back he has my front he’s above me and he is below me bit says I’m going to cry all night long but better says weeping may end do for a night but joy I said joy joy I said Joy will come in the morning time is there
Anybody in the church who wants a little bit of joy in your heart this morning say Joy I said joy joy good I said joy joy joy joy joy Jo Joy Hey [Applause] Jo Thank Oh joy in the morning time joy in the evening Joy late at night oh joy when even when I’m sleep I have joy do you know what that feels like to have joy in your Life when you going through some Stuff and you just got that unspeakable joy in your Life the joy of the Lord some of you know what I’m talking about when you get that call and you get that diagnosis from the doctor and you say but God God you got joy in your life you get that call early on the Monday morning and say you’ve been laid
Off you say but God that’s the joy of the Lord God is going to elevate you you got the joy of the Lord in your heart he’s going to elevate you how many want that elevation in your life God’s going to elevate you that thing that you’re Facing that cancer Diagnosis that diabetes anxiety depression Grief God said I got you experience the joy of the Lord he’s going to elevate you up out of your situation just trust him oh trust God how many of you trust God this morning how many of you truly trust God hallelujah you stand to your feet with
Me the doors of the church are Open you don’t know Christ as your personal sake now is the time for you to experience that Joy a joy that only God can give to you the joy that you would experience when you accept Christ as your personal savior there’s nothing like it come now give your life to I Let Go You’re looking for a church Home oh I just moved to the area I’m just visiting right now but I want to become a part of this body of Believers step out into the come Down oh I feel a move in this place right now the move of the Lord right now oh hallelujah oh hallelujah oh Hallelujah if you need prayer right now come come on prayer warriors you want prayer you want to intercede for someone bre if you need intercession for yourself come on down and
Get it’s prayer time it’s prayer time came and grabed me me so I wouldn’t let go God’s mercy kep Me so come on and talk to God today because God kept me yeah yeah yeah oh Hallelujah I’m alive today only because of his grace oh he kept me God kept me he kept me so I wouldn’t let go oh come on talk to God this morning let

What’s on your heart I’m not a public speaker but um I’ve been down this road before um I used to drive trucks for 16 years and when I started driving I stopped praise him so my life has been a lie and I seen the stuff that’s been taken away out of my
Life and I’m I’ve really have taken a big fault and it’s been on my heart for almost a month now I passed by this church and all sorts of stuff comes up to keep me away from it this morning I lost some very important paperwork and it was nothing
But the devil cuz I needed it and it tried to stop me from coming in today but I to forget the paperwork I’ll find it later and I came on in here and um it was really a blessing to be here and and and thank y’all amen oh y’all ought to give God
Some praise up in here this morning hallelujah hallelujah bless your gang I told him I’ve been down that road and I tell you God can turn your name turn your whole life around and I told him to get with me before he leaves I’m we’re going to exchange numbers brother and
We’re going to become prayer partners and you can call me whenever you want to and I’m going call you we going to pray because the easiest thing to do is to come in here and confess but the real world is waiting for you when you walk out this door amen

Curtis is a chaplain with one of our hospice agencies locally and on last evening I observed as we were both at the Dyson’s home how he got other calls of people who were transitioning or who had transitioned it takes a lot out of you to go from one place where death has
Occurred to another place where death has occurred and to minister to both of those persons you don’t just drive away and leave it behind it goes with you so I want us to take just a just a moment before we sharing the communion experience just to lift up Dr Curtis
Singleton Curtis would you come and stand I know you were up here before during prayer time but you had one person praying with you I want us as a congregation to pray for you is Tiffany with you is Tiffany with you okay again he serves as chaplain of one of the hospices
Those of you who would have to use the ministry that hospice provides know how tough how difficult it can be I have to do it often but not to the degree that he does it it tears at your heart because a part of you goes out to families because you see their
Hurt you see their pain and although there’s nothing you can do it still is unsettling I don’t care how spiritual you are so if you would just join with me before communion I want to lift Dr Curtis Singleton up in prayer God thank you for the calling that is up on this brother’s
Life it’s a serious one it’s a compelling one sometime it can be a tiring one and although fulfilling much is taken out of him as he ped into others so I pray that you would just Replenish reinvigorate rejuvenate that which is lost as a result of this ministry I pray for Tiffany and his family that God you will give them a a comforting a consoling and understanding Spirit knowing that this is not just a job but it’s a calling and help them to do everything
Possible to keep him lifted up so that he can do that which you’ve called him to do again we thank you for him for his ministry for his calling for the anointing we pray in Jesus name amen and amen love you man and I appreciate what you do for
Families I thank God for you and for others who serve in Your Capacity may God bless you love you man thank you so Much you have the sacraments in your hand he used a simple meal to teach an eternal lesson can you imagine using just regular unleavened bread but he break it and he blessed it and said Hey listen just says this bread is broken so shall I be broken for you and in my

Morbidness the agony of what he went through was for us He took it he blessed it then he gave it to them and said drink ye this shall we drink together get this as we prepared to leave after sharing such a thought provoking crazy message non sensible message they went out singing when you don’t understand it when it don’t make
