So hey guys my name is nicola savage i’m the mpht president um here at the university of north texas um and today i’m going to give you a presentation on the national council so the national panhellenic council is a greek letter um council consisting of nine greek letter organizations alpha phi alpha
Alpha alpha for omega side five delta sigma theta plus i beta sigma zeta phi beta iota phi theta sigma gamma rho i’m sorry apac promotes interactions through meetings and other mediums for exchange of information and engage engages in cooperative programming and initiatives through the various activities and functions
On may may 10 1930 on the campus ohio university in washington dc the national parliament council was formed as a permanent organization with the following charter members omega sci-fi kappa alpha psi alpha kappa alpha delta sigma theta and zeta phi beta in 1931 alpha via alpha and five beta sigma joined the council
Sigma gamma rho joined in 1937 and iota phi theta completed the list of members the completed the list of member organizations in 1997. our first fraternity is the alphabet alpha fraternity incorporated it’s founded on december 4th 1906 at cornell university um its colors is black and old gold um
Their official website is www.apa and their motto is first of all servant of all we shall transcend all and they are currently active on our campus to become a member you must attend the institution so you must attend unt you must have completed 24 unc credit hours or 12 transfer hours
Um you must be a full-time student taking courses leading to your academic academic degree uh you must have a good standing and that is a 2.6 gpa um it says you have to be registered to vote i know that’s in a lot of different chapters and i believe that he’s at unt
Um and you have to be sponsored by a member in good standing in the chapter which is a candidate and seeking membership i think alpha sorority incorporated was founded on january 15 1908 at howard university in washington dc their colors are salmon pink and apple green and their official
Symbol is the ivy leaf if you want to be if you want any more information regarding their um organization on a more broader scale you can visit their website at www.aka 1908.com in order to join them in order to be a member um membership is invite only uh full-time student
Attending accredited for your organization so it’s in the unt um and you must look at the authorizing printed rush flyers to post on your college so um unt orgsync is most most of the time where they post um their rush and just all the information that

Their official colors are purple and gold um their official flower is violet um they are active on our campus as well their motto is friendship is essential to the salt in order to become a member you must be again a current full-time student in a current organization
Um your community must have a cumulative gpa of a 2.5 um and you must have at least 36 credit hours um submit five letters of recommendation so two must be for financial members of the actual chapter um three from members in good standing of the community delta sigma theta sorority incorporated

In order to become a member on this campus uh you must have a cumulative gpa 245 on a four-point hour scale um you must be you must be accepted um for undergrad membership after successfully completing one quarter semester or trimester um and of course you must you have to attend the
Career university so you just have to be a student at unt and lastly iota phi theta for training incorporated was founded september 19th 1963 at morgan state university in baltimore maryland their official colors are charcoal brown and guilty gold um their official symbol is the centaur and their motto is building the
Tradition and listen upon one um the official website www.iotaphytada.org um and in order for you to be a member of this organization you must have completed 12 credit hours um of course you have to attend the university that the chapter is located in so unt um a full-time student with a good
Standard of a 2.5 gpa you also have to submit two letters of recommendation so the difference between ifc pan mdc and and apac panolytic and ifc um it’s all about recruitment predominantly centered around a lot of their collegiate careers um so they definitely do a lot of
Matching when it comes to you know their majors and things like that um mgc and npac we have um what we can take um so there’s nothing that’s necessarily like um publicized to the public when we do intake it’s more so of just things that we keep
It on more personal scale until it’s the right support and we have long life-long affiliations so we do have graduate chapters and alumni chapters that after you graduate you won’t no longer be in the undergrad chapter you’ll go in into that graduate and elemental chapter so that’s just the major difference between
The four councils and so our expectations are to address coordinate and develop action strategies a matter of multiple concerns for each organization perpetuate constructive fraternity and sorority relationships so we always want to enhance greek unity and making sure that we do remain a family either that’s inside the council or outside with other
Councils we always try to make sure that we create those relationships um and just keeping a high standard of being a member of the npac we hold ourselves to a higher standard so we definitely want to make sure that we’re practicing those practicing those standards at all talks
Um so we want to maintain our gpa requirements as for your perspective organization i know ours 2.75 said we tried you know to just you know keep above a 3.0 each semester just to make sure that we’re doing our jobs as a fraternity and sorority on campus because
Um we are the faces of campus and you know a lot of people do have bounds on us so we always want to make sure that we you know keep we maintain our gpa requirement uh remain active in our prospective organizations so just you know keep your service alive and
Just doing different service projects on campus also uh reaching out to other organizations and just doing different events um attend class lately like you came to college so of course we’re gonna go to class um and we have to graduate so it’s time management um so like tips on time management um
I say prioritize you know college is where is what you make it and you know you’re gonna find yourself very busy once you get deeper in so i’m prioritizing your time because things can catch up to you so i definitely say that that’s one major tip for that we do um
So you know always think you know what is important to me you know look back and think okay i’m in college why am i in college how did i get here um who’s in my life right now you know what is making me um be the way i am today so you always
Got to think you know what’s important to me school of course i’m here um i have my family and friends you know your spiritual your church your organizations etc i’m specific goals for yourself um i always say like if you’re coming into college or um you’re going into something you
Should always have a goal i’m always going blind because at the end of the day you won’t be able to really just make that so if you have specific goals it’ll make you want to drive hard to get to those goals and it’ll also keep you on just being more
Private having your priorities in order so those two kind of go hand in hand so eliminating the unessentials so eliminating things that really don’t matter um you always got to realize like okay so a lot of things is going to build up over time it’s a lot of people that are going to
Join my life like i don’t have to figure out these people essential or they’re unessential and that’s up to you to figure out but at the end of the day it’s definitely a decision that has to be made as you do mature in life reset your habits so um everybody has
Everybody has some type of bad habits um but when i say reset your habits you look back and you say hey okay um what is this habit doing for me is this habit something that is scaring me from being a better person or is this habit something that i really enjoy and it’s
Also helping me out and it’s helping me become a better person so it’s resetting your habits and analyzing hey is this working or is this not working just making the better decision for yourself so these are a few apps that can help you as far as
I’m sorry those are a few apps that can help you as far as i always stand prepared or organized especially throughout college um i use google calendar it’s definitely a great thing to do i use color notes for my classes um so take note of those they’ll definitely help you out
Throughout your college career um so advice to everybody that’s not greek um i’d say if you definitely want to know about greek life or you’re interested um definitely attend um events talk to people you know answer questions um just to see where they’re at you know what do you like about your
Organization what growth have you made you know why you’ve been in the organization you know what are some of the events that you throw every year things like that just so they know like hey okay this person actually really wants to know about the organization or really wants to get my perspective on
Different things so um they’ll open up and tell you um if you want to talk to me about personal aspirations talk to them in a private setting so creating relationships like i said in the previous slides um if you create a relationship with someone um that allows somebody to feel more
Vulnerable to really just you know be there or you know just talk to you about certain things that aren’t meant for group setting um when when it comes to knowing what organization you want to join um as far as the mphc um don’t tell anybody what organization you want to join
As always um keeping it like discrete is what we call it um some discretion uh practice than that you know just keeping that to yourself and making sure that um you’re not putting yourself in a situation where a lot of organizations know about um what you want to do
Because in our council we do practice discussion um very quickly um so i say do your research you know it’s a lot of different um you know facts and things about these different organizations um know so doing your research is like on the web um you can also figure out
Who’s in these organizations create relationships with them and you can also get information from them as well um going to class that’s one of our main priorities as a whole council as greek life as a just you know a big setting class is our main priority keeping a gpa um
Just doing that so always remember just to keep attending class getting the gpa that you need to get for each specific perspective organization um when you’re in the community always keeping a positive positive you know attitude positive vibe because a lot of people are watching you when you’re in college
That’s just you know different organizations that’s not even greek um a lot of jobs look at you know your social medias and just everything so always keeping that positive and remembering hey this is you know what needs to be done so i need to do that in order for me to
Progress and get better um get into leadership roles so not just involving yourself in community service but getting involved with different organizations on campus it’s a lot of different organizations on campus we have over 425 organizations on campus so um just getting involved and just you know
Figuring out what you want to do how you can like go up in those organizations and you know getting better than that and i think that is the last slide of the presentation so i just want to say thank everybody for giving me your time to present for the national feeling and council
