Hello everybody and welcome back to another episode of uh coffee with Kevin and I’m here with my great friend boss and the person monor gills himself cheers to you thank you it’s h good to be back with you I missed the last session with uh father Nate I hope
He did not do too good of a job to St show me up a little bit so GL I’m glad you invited me back right right well obviously you didn’t do good enough cuz you’re still here so that’s that’s awesome we’re great to have you back and today’s podcast is all about building
Community but while building Community not having the turf wars in the church and we’ll discuss more of that after mon Cena leads us in prayer wonderful in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit amen God our Father you
Sent your son into the world to teach us how to live together for the sake of building up the kingdom you now give us the grace and the w wisdom and the power of the Holy Spirit to help us to do that uh for the greater glory and honor of
God the father and for the Salvation of souls help us always to have the humility to say yes to what God asks of us even if it means that we have to say no to something that perhaps we want to cling to uh bless our time together this
Podcast and may wisdom come forth from it and more importantly may it help somehow in some little way perhaps to change uh even the life of the church we ask all of this through Christ Our Lord amen in the name of the father and the son and the holy spirit amen thank you
Thank you so much man senior so so today we really want to dig into um building the community in the church and having everybody work together as one body in Christ and so as you probably know back when you were a young priest even now being at the Cathedral for the last four
Years now coming up and like me being in in the ministry you have ideas about how you want the parish to run and function right correct and so but when you get in there and you’re like man this isn’t running right this isn’t running right
And and and so how do you do because people have been here for 20 30 years we’ve done this we’ve always done it this way they don’t want to change that way how how do you work with these people to meet them where they’re at to
Walk with them to to inspire good change and worked together to accomplish a mission you know what I think the first thing is get to know the person I mean there’s there’s a human person behind all of these uh situations and perhaps like this club or this group or whatever
Or this is the way we’ve always done it that’s that’s fine and it’s easily it’s easy to kind of react against that um and then kind of in a antiseptic objective way you got to get past said see the person before you get to know that person and understand their story
And then I just think it naturally opens up doors in which greater commun communication can happen and God forbid maybe at the end of the day you know like you might have an idea or I might have an idea about something or Bob or Sue out there and we might seem to be
Opposed but maybe truthfully once we dig down we actually do want the same thing but we’re just not talking to each other right right and do you feel like a lot of times too um when you when you’re talking with somebody you’re trying to get your point across and you guys are
Just talking kind of by past each other over each other um so many so many times before too well and I think the number one thing too and I go back to the uh first Beatitudes right the the thing about humility and being humble and being humble at heart and getting over
Myself and knowing the fact that I don’t maybe always have the right answer it’s okay that I don’t have the right answer and instead of getting over myself and realizing I need this other person to work with me cuz otherwise if you keep forcing your own agenda and everything
That you want you’ll be doing everything by yourself because nobody wants to be a part of it because they can’t understand why you’re doing what you’re doing totally agree and that kind of ties into this concept of a stewardship you know allow people to have stewardship over
The gifts and talents that they have and that they can bring to the table um so yeah if you uh amalgamate everything into um one which is kind of paradoxical and weird but really to um if that’s if you’re pulling everything into this gravity of
Ey ego it it just doesn’t serve the body of Christ well at all and it’s not very fruitful it’s irritating it’s not productive so I like your idea of you know well the idea of building relationship ships and seeing what the other person everybody’s got gifts and
Talents and and let them shine and and bless that oh yeah well you know cuz you and I have heard and you’ve probably heard way more than me because you’ve been in Ministry longer than me you know oh mon senior I’m tired of the 10% doing
90% of the work and you know it’s true that okay yeah people are maybe not willing but maybe it’s because also too the person in charge can’t let go of anything you know what I mean and and inspiring that person and be like look use the other talents and people that
You have around you for for good and the greater of God because when you deny somebody a chance to help or a chance to to do something you’re you’re denying them a chance to be more Christlike and grow in their own faith kind like you’re talking about Steward yeah I you know
That’s a very real thing uh sometimes um I don’t know people do cling to their areas their Turf and maybe it’s because it maybe it’s more because you know it’s a sense of kind of serving their need as opposed to the person wanting to um be
Able to share something and to be able to give to another person by inviting that person to step in and to be a part of it you know sometimes we do have to allow other people to uh manifest Christ in the world and I know like a a priest
Friend of mine in a different dicese uh was telling me he said yeah um The Women’s Group they were kind of complaining where’s all the young people where’s all the young people and well then when they do come to the table it’s like well you have to do it my way and
Then they get their hands slapped and they say that’s it I’m done so I mean it does take humility on the part of all of us to say you know what maybe somebody else maybe a younger person does have something that they can bring to the
Table and it doesn’t always have to be the same old way yeah well I think I think the main thing going back to like uh the the 10 and the 90 is like I I think yes you know people getting involved but I also think it’s the 10
Going out and grabbing the 90 realizing that that this isn’t their Turf and it’s God’s Turf and inviting other people in to share in that in that love of Christ I think I think actually that’s probably more the problem than the the 90 you know what I think we need to be careful
To the thought just struck me um get away maybe from labeling it the the 10 versus the 90% because then all sudden I think it could be insulting to people or you box people into that and just maybe push that off to the side and honestly I
I don’t that’s not happening at the Cathedral I think we we’re Beyond a percentage we’re Beyond a certain ratio and I because we trust iner people and so um everybody has a spot at the table right everybody a cathedral does and you know I was just thinking just
That like 10 10% of the people do 90% of the work you know if you’re person out in the pews hearing that well is that exactly going to pump you up and make you want to participate it’s like oh I just got slammed so I I’m just thinking
Out loud and thought well maybe we need to just kind of think that through yeah cuz I I yeah I don’t really feel that our Parish that’s 10 I mean I I feel like there’s so much unity and even even even last night with uh with the uh soup
Supper you could see the quote unquote old Garden Mission with the new and and and it wasn’t like oh well I’m over here on this side and these are what my click or whatever I feel like it’s just so much better people are just coming together and it doesn’t matter who’s who
Or whatever and they just love the fact that the community is here I happily learned by accident um this morning that they organically popped up on its own a group of men they’re forming a group of five and they want to go deeper and they’re forming fraternity and
Brotherhood and it didn’t even didn’t come from me it’s coming from within them so there’s another proof right there that the 9010 formula doesn’t it’s it’s the body of Christ is raising up in its own way it really is yeah and we can’t pigeon hole it we we put you know
It’s happening yeah can’t can’t you know like King David you can’t put a number on it yeah yeah yeah so right and you know I one thing I want to make very clear as well too to the truth always stays the same you know we’re not we’re not um taking anything
Away from the truth or whatnot but maybe the way way we do things there’s nothing wrong with evolving it because the world evolves there’s different you know what I mean and we can’t keep doing the same old way and thinking that that’s what’s going to work every time you know we
Need to we need to grow and adapt and expand as well too and if we don’t we end up getting stagnant would you say yeah 100% yeah I mean I mean you can even take that in your own faith you know if you keep staying and doing the
Same thing over and over again how are you ever going to grow how are you ever going to um be more well-rounded of a person you you want to know what um if for a person internally to kind of come up with this uh sense of you know I need
To challenge myself or I need to grow or I need to consider something new and different I think yes that can happen but I think most of the times it’s going to come through life circumstances I bump up against somebody and they propose or say something that
Maybe shakes me a little bit or pushes me but they’re instead of getting defensive maybe that person is trying to help me to to to become you know better version of myself or to kind of to think outside of the box or to go into a direction that I myself wasn’t thinking
Of but maybe that person sees so really it does require humility and and um other people through maybe these love challenges can help us to not be stagnant yeah well and I also feel like too is is when you stay in your little box and you know stay in your
Lane as you say too you kind of don’t pay attention to what’s going on around you sometimes I think sometimes that happens too where there’s tons of you know when you say oh well young people aren’t helping well there’s tons of young people around sometimes you have
To go up get get the courage to ask him be like hey would you be willing to help with this or or that and a lot of times I’ve noticed in even in the ministry that I’ve been you know we’ve been doing and been called to like like soup
Suppers for instance I I called or emailed people personally and say Hey you know we really need your help could and you got 30 people to show up and you know to help out with soup in three days you know and people are more than happy to help they just sometimes they don’t
Know what to do and they need direction right they need a personal invite with maybe a little bit of uh persistence and elbow grease and um and I think it works the proof is in the pudding Kevin I mean amazing things have been happening at Cathedral Parish because it it it
Demands energy and you have to be willing to spend it and uh work for the most part one-on-one with people yeah you know yeah well and I think I think too going back to working as a parish working as the one body in Christ and and this goes for anything whether
Whether you know a diois thing a mission thing a a church thing in order to inspire people to come together and do something you have to add value to it you have to help them explain the why this is important you know you have to
Have them walk with you in that but but in order to do that nobody’s going to walk with you if you don’t add value to it you don’t so value is kind of like the why behind it so I think maybe what you’re tapping into is a sense of
Mission MH you know why do anything if if there’s I think Mission gives you energy and drive okay like well what’s the whole expression I’m a man on a I’m a man on a mission so I think men especially need to have Mission behind them to push them and to be something
Ahead of them that they want to run after absolutely you know maybe with um women that could I can’t really speak to this maybe they have a different way of approaching or a different different Dynamic and maybe you can talk to that but I think men are built for Mission
And they need Mission oh otherwise it ends up becoming complete chaos look at the world today there not a single man has had to work for anything really hard in America or really do you know so I mean then it ends up becoming complete chaos and everybody goes just out of
Control like the things that are happening in the world today yeah you think what the greatest Generation World War II I mean that was they had a mission and it really galvanized this country and it made men step up to the plate and gave them solid character that
Really just not only was um how they served our country in time of War but I think it really defined their character and how that maybe bled over into uh citizens oh ABS yeah yeah 100% agree and and you know like for for instance like when I’m
When I’m working with you know the men of the you know the whiskey and wisdom that we do and looking at the men’s club and and other things that help Inspire them you know you and I talked about it this morning it’s about getting them to know that they’re valued and they have
Purpose and they matter and and them being there is important because if they’re not there we can’t accomplish the submission and only you can accomplish that a mission and see and that was the problem with me when when I was first coming into the church I didn’t know
Where I belonged I didn’t know that I mattered or had a purpose so then that you fall away from it but then when somebody comes and follows after you and grabs you and kind of like that lost sheep and brings about oh okay I am
Important I do have a spot at this table and it matters if I’m not here so absolutely um no I’m just thinking of how Elementary that is but perhaps easily lost and I don’t know if we say it enough to people I think I think maybe you do but
I’m just a self-examination here right I’m just thinking of my own self it’s like do I use those words explicitly say we need you you matter um for this Parish or this activity be what it it needs you exactly so exactly and and you know
Don’t wrong I love guys like you know St Augustine Scott Han Jeff Cav these very intelligent guys that really know how to break down the Bible and S whatever but but not everybody has to be that and I feel like everybody thinks they have to have this such intellectual thing you
Know I mean some of the greatest saints were the most simple of people you know take St Andre betet who was a simple door man but had thousands of people that loved him and sent him letters every year and he built relationships and he could understand where they’re
Coming from even a guy like same Padre Pio that looks so holy and like how could you ever relate and he got in with the people and he could he I think there was a story one time a man didn’t even know how pied he was because when till
Till one of the brothers said oh Padre pe’s got the Padre Pio is is Holy he was the guy that I’m joking around with and having fun with and this and that like that that guy is you know has a stigma he’s like yeah you know so the the those
Great simple Saints knew how to live the Simplicity of life but I want to dovetail on that that’s really one of the biggest things that I learned uh during seik 2024 that really struck me personally because you are surrounded by a lot of awesome people that have fantastic gifts
And then you look at that and you think well who am I but one as and as I was kind of going down that negative Rabbit Hole the speaker said like almost practically looking right at me said you must avoid void the sin of comparison because then all you see is what you
Can’t do but then he said at the same time realize yeah there there is you have your own gifts and maybe they’re not the same as the other person but um you still can use that in a positive way to say well maybe I do need to step
It up a bit not to become like that person exactly but truly anti up to to the level where I need to be because maybe I’m just settling or maybe I’m throwing myself under the bus or maybe I it’s saw this self-doubt and negative
Talk I can’t do this who am I you know at a certain point kind of I mean we can we can talk ourselves into a lot of nothingness um so that was huge for me at focus a seek that was huge well and I think you know uh you know I like going
Back to the to the part of the the gospel where you know he sent the 72 out 2 by two you know you know it’s always having somebody with you to help you keep accountable I really feel like you know iron sharpens iron you know right
Back of the Proverbs I feel like that’s why like Peter and John when they went out and act they went out together you know because it’s more powerful when you hear it from two people instead of one but you notice how it’s small it’s not you know we don’t have 20 people all
Walking to you know what I mean and having a whole bunch of different ideas it’s very like um well how does how does Focus say it’s not the shotgun blast but the uh the rifle shot it’s it’s more penetrable it’s more you know what I mean it really goes
Deeper um you said something that I think is that triggered something me is so important you said iron sharpens iron you know as a priest um doing if I may say that word ministry together is so vitally important because how as a pastor can I try to build relationships
And a community if I’m not in community with someone at my side helping me to do that I and that has made all of the difference in my priesthood and I know there’s many different scenarios out there you can be in a little Parish you can feel there’s
Plenty of them in this dasis it’s a majority of them small to middle size and you can feel isolated and I know Kevin God has blessed me with you to have you in my life to work together and it just tremendously helps and um and maybe so and if we can provide that
Model of working together and if we live this relationship together then we can start um replicating that if you will uh going out into the community the parish Absol yeah 100% well it’s like everything in life like I I I love my marriage and I
Love going home to to my wife and she’s somebody that 100% I’d lay down my life for tomorrow if I if if I had to it’s the same thing with getting up and I cannot wait to come into work to like just just share and live the gospel and
And and help continuously God and continuously working through us to continuously grow and expand this Parish I’m just so excited and it’s so much fun to do it with you because we’re on the same side we’re we’re we’re running to Christ together and we’re you know and
We didn’t look at this as like you a superior and then me you know what I mean this is not this is you know really you’ve really just done such a phenomenal job of in your spiritual fatherhood and stuff like that you you preach something and we practice it
Together you know what I mean it’s not something you know where this like dictatorship can get into or you know it’s my way or no way or this is what you people out there need to do yeah exactly and I’m going to sit up here no
You have come into the trenches with us and I think that’s why this Parish has responded so well to you I think that’s why your your homes have such a huge impact because it’s not about you like you said all the time it’s not about you know you don’t go to confession to
Really stop sinting yeah you want to stop sinting but it’s about growing in that virtue and you really you’ve really done a good job of just exercising that and and and yeah maybe it’s a tiny bit of pushing you to be like all right you know you weren’t you you weren’t a
Priest to just answer to emails you know what I mean out there but you’ve done just a phenomenal job of that and it’s and you really helped me become the best verion in Christ as well too you know because I to to be honest with you 10
Years ago I didn’t I didn’t want to go back into into Ministry because it just like I felt like I was in this little box and I couldn’t actually be what Christ wanted me to be so it’s like well what’s the point of doing that but but
Really you’ve really opened my eyes and and and this parish and stuff to really to to not limit me but but I become fully alive in Christ and to be able to work with these people and meet them where they’re at and not not everybody would have that same humility and I’m
Just very honored thank I Kevin I’m honored as well and so thank you very much for that um it’s a great privilege I do want to go back to something you said in the beginning I think at the end of the day I mean why do you want to come to work
Or why do I want to do what I do I’m insanely giddy happy joyful to be here at Cathedral Parish um so but it comes down to yes there’s passion and drive but there’s joy and so I think if we’re going to work together to build community and
Relationships I think it demands even first of all that we know how to play together and have fun together and I think that is what makes all the difference in the world let’s play together literally if it’s with uker or just Gathering doing the whiskey and wisdom which is all kind of morphing
Into something even better and more just having fun together laughing well I mean like you were even saying too it was it was a perfect night of uh we did Stations of the Cross you know and and you know thanks be to God I’m pretty sure I’m pretty sure my guardian angel
Held my hand so I didn’t trip over my cassic and I’ll never make fun of you again for not wearing your Cass so I almost set myself on fire with that candle anyway but but but no and so and then after that of like breaking bread together and having soup and those soup
Stations and it was like it was just having that camarad and then you know like you said something great was like you know I have all these emails everything else and then somebody asked you to play uker and you’re just like oh and even me I’m like I wanted I was like
I should go on my like but it’s like I have a chance to just grow and build so we did and I think people also like the Chad too even if we’re not sitting at the same table ring each other you know like you getting all excited about uker
Like hey keep it down over there whatever you know have fun Kevin people love the dog and pony show you know you put on the little show and oh oh yeah oh yeah you know and just having fun I mean not not necessarily putting you know anybody down or anything but just having
Having that joy and that laughter of being able to like you know just have fun you know and it’s no surprise to God in the world and everybody else around here is like I’m a little bit uptight just hate to tell you that and so I mean
Yeah I know right so my my Moto saari is to like check the boxes get all the work done and then what’s left over I can save that for like you know having fun or hanging out after the soup supper thing and playing uker and last night I mean so
What I did have to wrestle with that a little bit I thought no make the right decision the right decision is that the emails were always be there but these people will not always be here and I had a phenomenal time I won a game and I
Lost a game it was all evened out it beautiful had great had great fun so was good so well well notice too like like because you said whatever’s left over I will I I will then you know go fun whatever but you know you notice you
Gave the best to God and God’s people you gave the best of yourself to them yeah what are we talk you know Kevin that’s right we we scripture says offer your first fruits well and we talk about the Holy sacrifice of the mass that we are to make an offering to offer you
Know what do you what are you going to offer to God unless it is that the the love and the care that you show for God’s people then you bring that as an offering oh so I know it was a little bit of a lesson for me last night well I
Mean it goes all the way back to Genesis the Cain and Abel you know Cain didn’t give his didn’t give his best to God so it wasn’t blessed you know and and and and Abel did what that so that kind of begs the question what what is the best
What is the best we give to God what is our best is it doing our job by checking the boxes and yeah know there should be a sense of responsibility getting back to people returning messages yeah that that is important but if that’s all you
Get caught up in doing or make you know that administrative side of it the front center piece of your ministry I’m not so sure well I um a phenomenal spiritual director when I was in Focus really really told me something he’s like make sure your life is ordered what he meant
By that is the laundry has its own importance but don’t put your laundry above your marriage above your you know your first f vocations make sure like okay you know like you and I what what is our number one vocation you know mine is my family you know my God obviously
Then my wife then my spouse then Ministry you know so I have to make sure everything’s ordered like for instance you know I knew I was going to have a late day you know Tuesday and Thursday so I stayed home a little later with the family in the morning gave them my best
Okay then now I got to go into work and then I got to make sure everything’s ordered what what do I give the least to bet you know and so everything has its priority and its order and if everything is ordered you’re not cheating anyone of
Anything and it all works out no and but it was it was nice to see that like you know I I know this sounds maybe cliche but it’s just like you you you knew that your spiritual children needed you just in the simple way of uker and thing and
Just and you could see you just had like a sense of energy and you you almost gained more energy so now like when you’re done with that you could still get those emails done at the end and and and finish off your day you know cuz if
You would imagine if you did the emails you know and then come into uker you know your dog tired you know you talked about first fruits mon senior and I I think I think at Cathedral we do a really good job of helping people find find their fruits and what they have to
Offer for instance moncor you meet with every new parisher you sit down and talk with them and what I love about you you’re not a check on the box type of guy you’re not saying hey here’s these 15 things and and and what can you know and where
Where do you fit no what do you bring to the table and it might not be these 15 things you might have some specific gift that we don’t have that we we need and you do a phenomenal job of plugging these in and and that is what these
People’s first fruits can be and and I I think People’s First fruits is kind of what they can bring up um it there there are different gifts that can be offered in different stages of people’s lives and um like uh for instance I know there’s I have my seven sisters who have
Holy hours for me seven days a week and then there’s another uh concentric circle of beautiful women out there in the parish who can’t do the one holy hour per day but they can be mindful of Cathedral and my Ministry and they offer all their little sacrifices with this just mindful
Intention of saying I offer this up for on senior his work at the parish so I consider that like definitely a a a first a first fruit a gift so you know at the end of the day first fruit is is is recognize something that God has
Given you because without him we have nothing and then how how do you um take that and then return it to to God but perhaps through service to another person so God gives you a gift and then it it comes through you and you return it to God through another person
You don’t give it like straight back but you give it to it goes through another person through service you know recognizing um what what I can bring to the table I have something unique that I can that I can offer to God and maybe it’s unseen May maybe maybe it’s my
Distress or my my whatever could be going on in my life maybe it’s my mental sufferings you know it doesn’t always have to like be something that’s explicit that I can point to well yeah well maybe like maybe it’s actually you’re right maybe it’s just somebody you’re suffering and somebody comforted
You in that suffering you know what I mean and that was a gift to them that they needed to to grow closer to Christ it gave them the opportunity to be you know some yeah you’re right it doesn’t always have to be this oh great and phenomenal talent and all about me it
Could honestly be sufferings or struggles or whatever else that so somebody else has expertise or things that it can be compassionate to you about that helps them grow closer to Christ you know even sometimes simple things you know everybody’s different and for example let’s just say you have
Somebody that’s just you know doesn’t have the big flash you know the big flash in the pan the big you know and then what if somebody said you know what I can change out the candles for you in the v of racks humbly do that that’s that’s their gift their first
Fruits and you join that to the Lord in the Holy Mass and and it’s Sanctified and blessed and what little bit we offer it’s the little Loaves and Fishes that becomes multiplied yep so one other thing to on a just a new paragraph here if you will um so you got to be
Congregation let’s say uh Monumental task of building community in the parish you know you can look that that’s that’s big um and I don’t think you’re ever done building Community I think you have to nurture that constantly and it can be overwhelming to take on this task of
Building community and honestly when I got here four years ago it was it was daunting flat up straight up it it it was daunting but somehow I don’t know even the odd thing of trying to raise money for our steeple that pulled us together as Community because
We had a common Mission and so the very thing that I feared the most like raising all this money and blah blah blah and meeting with people and asking for money and standing up in the Pulpit it gave everybody a single driving Mission and even so in in some bizarre
Way it was a gift because it gave us a sense of Pride and determination and Grit and Mission um so anyway to get back to what I was saying uh yes to build up um Mission uh a community um I think maybe sometimes the best way
Is maybe to the elephant one piece at a time so you like in little pockets you know build up Community here relationships here and here you don’t it might be daunting to take on the whole thing at once so I know one thing that I
Would love to do here at the Cath cedral uh and Bishop proposed this to me Bishop Callahan when I first got here he said you know Cathedrals from medieval times traditionally have had this sense of guilds of so I even took a few notes here it’s it like a voluntary
Association bound together by a common work or devotion there it creates fraternity there’s a spiritual component you adopt a patron saint under whose patronage you put yourself so really a guild becomes a mechanism of kind of um organizing and managing a collective uh
Quest to do X Y or Z and I thought you know I know it’s a medieval thing and there’s still a place for it now and I think even Society has guilds today like the rotary clubs or the quanas club and in the church Nights of Columbus we just
Don’t call guilds but I kind of want to hearken back here at the Cathedral to build community uh for a specific activity to achieve a particular end so one of my dreams is to get a guil and you know I’m a farm boy I love I love
Beauty I love Earth I love the plants I like the ground all of that stuff and so I want to start a guild I’m not sure what to call it yet but that would be for the beautiful ification of the campus of Cathedral Parish because this
Needs to be a shining crowning Jewel and it takes a lot of meticulous work and I know there’s people out there who would want to kind of come together so there is a way of kind of building Community within the community not separate from
But as a part of it yep exactly yeah so anyway I’m super excited about that oh yeah so the you know because we’ve talked about plenty of times in the podcast that that mission inside the mission right right well well and it it goes back to
And correct me if I over speak moncor too but like even like the last chapter of John like you you you couldn’t put everything that Jesus did into one book well I don’t think even as a church even if we try to do every single thing that
Christ did but what can we really hold our hat on it and re in and do well I mean you want to do all things well but like what can we really it’s it will look different ly for each community of faithful and we have to discern and pray about what is it
That how yeah we want to become one Community working together a team of horses pulling together in the right direction um but we’re going to do that in a particular way and we do need to work together yes I think tensions will arise and misunderstandings and you got
To go back and have the humility to do a little May aopa and get back on track but be cannot have turf wars and divisions because that robs her peace and that is not the will of Christ and we become discouraged and that is discouragement is not of God and to
Scatter and divide is a massive page of the Playbook of you know who Mr Satan himself and so whenever I think we’re being feeling fractured or pitted against each other that’s our spiritual guts telling us this needs needs to be fixed yeah yeah instead of letting it
Fester in the darkness you have to have the courage you know and and the tarity and and the strength to say you know what I I’ve got a little problem with you or maybe to to be challenged by another person I think in the Catholic church we we have some homework to do
There right well I mean I I I got to I got to use the example because it’s a perfect I think that’s one thing why you you and I are so connected in a mission we don’t let things Fester perfect example I I can’t tell what time it is
And I just get excited and that’s the only thing I care about and busting into your directory at 4:30 when you know things are shutting down and you know you finally have some peace and quiet in your house and here I come in like a
Bull in a China closet you know what I mean disturb your past and everything too and you know and and and and share something that could have waited till today yeah so I I graciously listened to Kevin and Kevin even looked at me said are you doing okay oh I’m doing fine but
Then I slept on it and this morning when I woke up the holy spirit said no you need to talk to your brother and and then move on no I that’s what we did yeah we did and was like oh yeah that’s right I’m sorry you know it was and then
Having the humility be like oh yeah that’s right I’m in the wrong it probably could have waited till this morning and obviously I’m too impatient and you know I I got to stop and so excited about shiny objects and you know everything else but but yeah no it’s
Just it’s just one little example and but I feel like when people when you put the value and people care and they have ownership of something I feel like it’s easier for them to not get offended because they understand the whole process so they can let things go or
They you know if you’re in relationship with somebody you’re you’re really close and friends like you and I are you could you could easily say something hey you know what when you did this I didn’t appreciate it and here’s why or I don’t understand why you’re doing this because
X Y and Z can you so you can have that that communication is a lot more easily opened you know what my experience is yeah your guts can kind of roll because you think ah this is a little confrontational I think 99% of the time it’s never as bad as you think it’s
Going to be right no you know if you pray to the Holy Spirit and that’s the whole thing too about any of this we’ve been talking about for the last 30 plus minutes and building Community you have to pray over this and pray through this
And let the holy spirit guide he is the unifier and let the Holy Spirit anoint what we want to do and he’s got to be front and center otherwise it’s all going to be about ego and we can dress it up in church speak and churchy
Language it’s not going to go anywhere I agree so anyway I think this has been a great podcast it’s been yeah it’s been awesome well thank you so much for your time and uh yeah thank you for all of you I hope hope you gain something out
Of out of this podcast and God bless you all and uh St Joseph the Workman pray for us us in the name of the Father and Son [Laughter] Spirit
