Well hello all and welcome back to the PIP Cottage been a while since I made a video wanted to get on here give uh a couple of thoughts about some things and just uh check in for a few moments today I’ve got my first Peterson 887 that I ever
Bought and in it I am smoking a blend that I have come up with for Chesterton cigar uh company in Stubenville Ohio and what I’ve discovered is that I can actually make a pretty good pipe blend so um I’m going to be in Stubenville Ohio on Thursday of this week and that evening
We are going to name this blend hadn’t quite named it yet and we’re going to release it it will be available online later in the year and uh for those of you who those of you who who know about uh the history of the pipe Cottage why we started all
This we started it originally because we wanted to promote a online tobacco business that we had in South Carolina and we eventually wanted to have our own brick and mortar well things have changed they do often change in life like that and so that’s not any longer on my
Radar I I don’t have any intentions of doing that frankly because I’ve learned that I’m not good at retail business that’s just not who I am I’m a scholar I’m a historian um I prefer staying in my study and writing and in uh I just in
Reading I don’t I don’t like the retail world but through God’s grace I have uh I I’m I’m partnering with uh Chesterton cigar uh Chesterton Cigar Lounge in Stubenville Ohio I’m going to help them blend some house Blends that they’re going to offer for sale online later in the year and
Um and if you want to support the pipe Cottage we will be getting a percentage from the sales of those Blends but but this is the first one we came out with and uh right now that that store offers primarily cigars their pipe offerings could be a little bit larger and so I’m
Going to help them with that too figure out what kind of uh pipes and so forth that they can that they can offer for sale so this is going to be a major project for the pipe Cottage over the next um over the next few months is is
Helping this particular brick and motar business build its uh pipe and pipe to back of offerings so keep a lookout for that that’s going to be wonderful stuff now you might might be asking what is this blend well it’s a Scottish blend it’s a mixture of it’s essentially an English
Blend with a black cabish in it but the the ratio you got to get the ratio just right and so I worked on it for a good while and I’m satisfied now I think I’ve got it where I want it and I think folks are going to like
It it’s an all day blend it’s not very heavy it’s not a Latakia bomb at all I could easily smoke this doing anything just walking or riding a horse it’s complex but it’s not so complex that you have to sit and ponder about the back on you can just simply

For that event also wanted to remind you of a uh blend that we are uh partnering with the Country Squire to offer uh later on in the summer we’re actually going to have an event to release this blend now I’m not blending that the people at the Country Squire
Are blending this this particular blend and so I I want to help promote their brick and morar and and promote their business as well uh back when I was a fairly new and small YouTube channel it’s still small compared to a lot of other people but
And I I since I’ve realized that um you know people watch this and people are looking for recommendations for businesses to support and that sort of thing I figured that uh I would put my two cents worth in there and I certainly uh do promote the country’s choir so uh
There will be we’re going to have an event early June I think is what we’re looking at to uh release the new blend that uh the new pipe Cottage blend at the uh Country Squire what else what else what else there’s a lot going on I’m trying to think of what
I need to update update you on well anyhow let we’ll just think about that later I want to talk about very briefly uh a concept a phrase that I hear thrown around a lot on uh YouTube and in the ypc and that sort of thing it’s this notion of the Brotherhood of the
Leaf I used to think that that term was valuable that it was a phrase that we could use and it would it would make sense but I know long no longer think it’s valuable and I don’t think it makes sense I don’t consider myself to be a
Part of the YouTube pipe Community uh I have there’s a lot of people who interested in in pipe smoking that that don’t really care about a virtual pipe Community uh cuz that’s not at the end of the day um a real Community I’m I’m beginning to push back a lot on uh the
Digital world and you don’t have to point out to me the fact that that’s an ironic thing to say as I make a YouTube video I have a difficult relationship with with making videos anyway some days I want to do it other days I think just
Why why do it at all but I have U enjoyed being a part of people’s lives that uh I have come to know personally through through uh the digital world but I guess the point I want to make is don’t let the digital world be the end
Game I think that the digital world is good for getting to know other people but it shouldn’t stop there we should always strive to have relationships person personal relationships with people who we can talk to in person and the pipe Cottage has allowed that to
Happen in my life um I have come to know several people who coincidentally coincidentally smoke a pipe but that’s not that they they don’t know any they are not a part of a ytpc they’re a part of other things they and I think that using the term Brotherhood of the leaf
Is probably a bit drastic uh I think we should be careful how we identify ourselves frankly I think it’s almost borderline silliness uh to to say that there’s some type of fraternity or Brotherhood among people because they smoke a pipe I can sit down and smoke a pipe
With with with most anybody and we can have a pleasant moment we can enjoy that moment together while we’re smoking a pipe we can talk about various and sunry things but that doesn’t mean that person becomes a friend it doesn’t mean that that person automatically becomes a
Friend and is welcomed into the Inner Circle simply because they enjoy pipe tobacco and I think that’s silliness that’s silly uh we have to be very very careful who we allow uh to come into our life and who we give our trust to and Trust has to be earned respect has to be
Earned just because you smoke a pipe doesn’t mean that you’re respectful a respectable is the better word doesn’t mean that you’re respectable just because you smoke a pipe doesn’t mean that you have anything valuable to say and there’s this popular uh cultural idea now that if you smoke a pipe you
Must be an intellectual you must be a person of great of of great learning no no I I have known some very sorry and weird people who smoke a pipe and I don’t want anything to do with them uh it just because they smoke a pipe
Doesn’t mean I want to spend time with them so I I just want to provide a little push back on that uh that’s the main point of today’s video I’d love to know what you think about it I’d love you to leave a comment but the only Brotherhood that
Really matters to me anymore is that of the kingdom of God the people who are in the kingdom of God that’s a real Brotherhood Brothers and Sisters in Christ that’s meaningful that’s Eternal that is overwhelmingly valuable it provides uh value to life and I guess one of the things that
Um has kind of spurred this is that I have come to find myself just tired of of the woke agenda I’m tired of the the the ccel culture we live in and unfortunately that has penetrated some of the um well what people call pipe Community that’s okay I don’t I don’t
That that’s fine but I just want to remind you of something that I may have said in a previous video the most influential people in my life who happen to smoke a pipe are not on YouTube they are not social media gurus they’re living quiet lives at their homes enjoying their pipe and
Their tobacco in its proper atmosphere as something that compliments a a a life that enjoys the pleasurable things that God has given us uh those there are the the pipe I guess one of the things I’m trying to say is that I think we’re doing ourselves a disservice
And thinking that how we understand the pipe industry and the tobacco industry and the history of pipe smoking uh we’re making a mistake by relegating that to what we learned online I was at U paully Island South Carolina uh what last week I guess it was
And I don’t like going to the beach when it’s 110° outside the humidity is so thick you can slice it with a knife and you got ugly fat people with hardly no clothes on you know Meandering about on the sand that ain’t me I don’t like that
That time of year but I enjoy going to the coast in the spring and in the fall when it’s not busy when you can actually enjoy the natural environment without without too many people and so I was down there on the beach one evening full moon actually I think it
Was beautiful and I looked off in the distance and I could I could see a man sitting on a a chair right right on the beach watch watching the tide come in and it had a pipe in his mouth and I could see the smoke billowing up from it
I almost wanted to go and talk to him I almost wanted to do that and but I didn’t cuz I I wanted because I know that that that with with when most people fire up a pipe they don’t want a phone in front of their face they don’t want
Um particularly the older people and this guy was I guess in his 60s or 70s but I just thought about about that as I was watching him enjoy his pipe and he was so content he looked so content I guarantee you he he had never heard
About a pipe Cottage he had never heard about U mutton chop Piper he had never heard about all this he just knew how to smoke a pipe and probably been doing it his whole life and uh so I I wish more of our society would get back to learning from
The old folks that are around us learning from people in our immediate Community contributing to our neighborhood the people that are actually around us rather than trying to place our community in this little bubble uh that that is riant upon screens so no I I don’t I’m not going to use
That term anymore Brotherhood of the leaf I think that’s not not the way I that’s not the way I think about any type of pipe smoking Community I enjoy smoking a pipe with other people but I seldom encounter pipe smokers uh who I have well I’m not gonna say that I I I
Sell them encounter people I sell them encounter people uh regardless as their hobbies and entri and so forth that I want to invite into my inner circle that takes time and it takes a personal relationship with somebody who you can get to know face to face but uh that’s my thoughts about
