Phi Delta Theta Returns to Penn State University with Installation of Pennsylvania Theta
Phi Delta Theta is proud to announce the re-installation of the Pennsylvania Theta Chapter at Penn State University.
On September 7, 2024, sixty-five members of the Pennsylvania Theta Emerging Chapter were officially welcomed into the Fraternity during an initiation ceremony led by General Council President J. David Almacy, along with Fraternity Executive Vice President and CEO Sean Wagner, Senior Growth Coordinator Brian Lyke, Chapter Support Coordinator Ian Zimmerman, and Senior Director of Alumni Engagement Zach Hilliard.
Friends, family, alumni, and Penn State University officials gathered to celebrate as Pennsylvania Theta accepted its charter during the installation ceremony. The weekend was especially significant, as it coincided with the chapter’s alumni weekend, providing a reunion atmosphere for all generations of Pennsylvania Theta.
Approximately two hundred attendees, including brothers from the Virginia Lambda Chapter at George Mason University and the Pennsylvania Mu Chapter at Widener University, came together for the occasion, further strengthening the bond between chapters.
In addition to their involvement with the chapter’s return, alumni from Pennsylvania Theta have also established a scholarship fund through the Phi Delta Theta Foundation to support new members who are first-generation college students. So far, $11,200 has been awarded to eight students from this fund, giving a head start to those who will help lead the chapter’s future.
Brian Lyke, senior growth coordinator, shared his thoughts on the re-installation, “I’m super happy to have Pennsylvania Theta back and a full chapter in Phi Delta Theta. It was a long road to get here, but I couldn’t be more proud to see Pennsylvania Theta succeed. Installation was a time to celebrate with friends, family, alumni, and staff, but it was also a chance to look ahead. Pennsylvania Theta looks to continue down its own path of redefining the Fraternity culture at Penn State and to become an exemplary chapter of Phi Delta Theta.”
Congratulations to the Pennsylvania Theta Chapter at Penn State University!
